Mysterious circles in space…

A mysterious, hazy, circular object has appeared in space, and astronomers have been trying to figure out what it is for over a year.

According to an article in The Conversation by Ray Norris, a science professor at Western Sydney Universe, via Space.com, astronomer Anna Kapinska presented an image to Norris and the rest of her colleagues in September 2019 labeled “WTF?” The image showed a smoky ball chilling in space. None of the scientists knew what it was.

Another was found a few days later. Now, scientists estimate there are about 1,000 of them. An image of the phenomena can be seen in The Conversation. Scientists have named them ORCs, which stands for “odd radio circles.” They don’t know how big or far away these rings are.

Any species reaching for the stars is bound to have its fingertips singed. Probably more than once.

One of NASA’s posts on the Astronomy Picture of the Day website is an iconic reminder of the mishaps in our spacefaring history.

“A flying saucer from outer space crash-landed in the Utah desert after being tracked by radar and chased by helicopters,” states the photo description, posted in November 2018, although NASA is not hinting at an alien visit here.

The banged-up dish, half-buried in the desert sand, was actually the return capsule of the Genesis spacecraft. And it wasn’t supposed to touch down in such a brutal way.

Launched on 8 August 2001, the Genesis mission was the space agency’s ambitious effort to send a spacecraft into our home star’s solar wind, gather samples, and return them to Earth.

Let’s say those elusive aliens decidef to make themselves know….what question should we ask before we start shooting?

Any science journalist would rejoice at the revelation of aliens on Earth. It would be the story of a lifetime. So it’s not surprising that a former Israeli space official’s claim that a Galactic Federation is known to the U.S. government has made a few headlines and trended on Twitter.

Of course, most science journalists have already been alerted to the presence of aliens by any number of readers who would like to testify about their personal E.T. encounters.

Yet despite how desperately some science journalists wish for alien visitation to be real, few among us ever believe any such reports. Proper policy is to decline to interview any would-be informant about their alien experience and instead insist on interviewing the aliens themselves.

And so I would be willing to come out of retirement and conduct such an interview if any Galactic Federation alien monitoring Science News would be willing to submit to some tough questions. Only condition would be the alien must wear a high-quality mask, covering its damn nose if it has one.

There is lots of theories to why we do not see more aliens visiting this part of the universe….from they await our development before revealing themselves to this piece of research……

While we have never, ever found signs of life outside of our planet, a recent study, published in the Cornell University arXiv database claims that alien civilizations that were part of our galaxy have probably already killed themselves off already.

The new study employed the use of modern astronomy and statistical modeling in efforts to map the life and death of intelligent life forms in time and space across our Milky Way. These results, which are a more concise update to Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence founder Frank Drake’s 1961 famous equation. Drake’s equation concerned a number of different variables used to determine just how many alien civilizations are detectable in the Milky Way. Some of the variables included the rate of formation of stars suitable for the development of intelligent life (number per year), the number of planets, per solar system, with an environment suitable for life, the fraction of civilizations that develop a technology that produces detectable signs of their existence, and the average length of time such civilizations produce such signs (years). This equation was made more popular by Carl Sagan in his 13-part mini-series Cosmos: A Personal Voyage.

It’s A Hurricane….But Nor Barry!

An apprehensive Saturday.

But the storm Barry is not the meat of this post…..

As we here on the Gulf Coast await the season’s first Hurricane/ T. Storm I read something in the news that caught my eye…..

It seems that some tin foil hat wearing expert thinks UFOs use hurricanes to enter into their secret underwater base…..

A UFO expert claimed that a satellite footage of a hurricane showed a fleet of alien vessels flying into its eye. According to the expert, the UFOs deliberately created the hurricane in order to secretly enter their underwater base.

The satellite footage of the storm was recorded and shared by YouTube user MRMB333. According to the user, the hurricane happened during the recent total solar eclipse on July 2.

In the video, strange dark orbs can be seen entering the hurricane and converging into its eye. According to the YouTube user, the dark circles could be the reflections of the shadow on Earth that was caused by the eclipse.

I am starting to see more and more of this type of silly story in the news…..it is troublesome that so many are starting to believe the manure spread by these babbling buffoons….that our ancestors were not intelligent enough to progress with the help of aliens (ET not Hispanics)….that is poppycock! (Excuse my language)

Back to the storm….looks like it will make land fall in the Louisiana lowlands….means we should get lots of rain and a bit of wind….but all should be fine for us….Louisiana may not fare as well. Our thoughts are with those impacted by Barry.

MoMo is bummed! And when she is bummed she watches the world go by waiting for the storm to pass.

Where Are Those Aliens?

It is a Sunday and warmer temps have returned….my friend MoMo will be happier that the rain has stopped long enough for her romp through the yard…..

I could go on some rant about all those aliens streaming across our Southern border and stealing our jobs along the way……but that would be worthless since the aliens I am referring to are those from Planet X…the ones that that ridiculous TV show, Ancient Aliens, keeps telling us that we were visited and shown the way to civilization but have since decided to not show up and lead us to a better future……why?

But a new analysis from a team led by University of Rochester astrophysicist Adam Frank suggests a more nuanced resolution to the old paradox. Sweeping across the Milky Way and establishing a unified galactic empire might be inevitable for a monolithic super-civilization, but most cultures are neither monolithic nor super—at least if our experience is any guide. Spaceships break down. Overactive stars roast otherwise desirable targets. Economic crises and government shutdowns kill nascent starships before they get off the ground.

Oumuamua

Saturday and a rare below 32 morning in the Deep South…..

Heard recently there has been an unusual event in space…..and I have been waiting for those Ancient Alien people to offer their take on it……the event was a space object known as “Oumuamua”…..

In a preprint paper published November 1 on arXiv, Harvard Institute for Theory and Computation researchers Shmuel Bialy, Ph.D., and Professor Abraham Loeb, Ph.D., give an explanation for ‘Oumuamua’s recent uptick in speed, which scientists had previously pointed out could not be due to gravity alone. But it’s what the tacked onto the end that has made worldwide news.

In their paper, Bialy and Loeb describe the possibility of solar radiation pressure — the idea that photons from the sun might have pushed ‘Oumuamua along — but sneak in a far more creative idea at the end: “Alternatively, a more exotic scenario is that ‘Oumuamua may be a fully operational probe sent intentionally to Earth vicinity by an alien civilization.” These are all just hypotheses, of course, and Bialy and Loeb admit that the only way the origin and mechanical properties of ‘Oumuamua and other objects like it can be “deciphered” is to search for other objects like it in the future to find support.

One of the theories being floated is that it is a giant solar sail……

The first known interstellar object to travel through our solar system could be a gigantic alien solar sail sent to look for signs of life, according to a new study.

The mysterious asteroid Oumuamua has been analysed by astronomers from the Harvard Smithsonian Centre for Astrophysics (CfA) after it was found to be unexpectedly speeding up.

NASA said earlier this year observations from their Hubble Space Telescope confirmed the object had an “unexpected boost in speed and shift in trajectory as it passes through the inner solar system”.

Scientists have now concluded that the asteroid “might be a lightsail of artificial origin” using solar radiation to propel itself forward.

It’s time again for the Leonids, the meteor shower repeated annually in mid-November. It comes as Earth passes through a trail of debris left by the comet 55P/Tempel-Tuttle, which orbits the sun once every 33 years. Earth will pass through the thickest part of debris at 7pm EST Saturday, but the best time for viewing begins around 2am local time Sunday, after the waxing gibbous moon has set, per Space.com.

NASA, noting viewers should allow up to 30 minutes for their eyes to adjust to the darkness, predicts an average of 15 meteors per hour will be visible and appear to come from the constellation Leo—hence the shower’s name. However, “it is actually better to view the Leonids away from the radiant,” NASA says, per NPR. “They will appear longer and more spectacular from this perspective.”

Set the alarm and wake the kids up….the ‘shower’ is amazing to witness.

My area of the state is full of history….mostly French……first settled in 1699….but there is always some history that we try to ignore but it just will not go away……

In 1973 a local man (my local not yours) named Parker told the world that he had been abducted by aliens….he made all the news and even some talk shows….he was held up to ridicule….was he abducted…he believes he was….but beyond that who knows?

We could get the rest of the story now…..Parker has written a book about his experience…..

Calvin Parker was looking for fish. He says he instead found aliens—or, rather, aliens found him. The date was Oct. 11, 1973, but Parker has hardly mentioned it in the 45 years since he and 42-year-old Charles Hickson saw a blinding light over Mississippi’s Pascagoula River. Hickson, who has since died, convinced Parker to go to the authorities, and their account soon spread around the world. But “I never talked about it,” Parker tells the Mississippi Clarion Ledger. Now 64 and in poor health, he’s written a book he hopes will change the minds of “narrow minded” people who “think that we’re the only planet in the solar system that has life on it,” per WLOX. It describes three humanoids with crablike claws floating the men onto a football-shaped craft where they underwent physical examinations.

“I think they injected us with something to calm us down,” Parker tells the Clarion Ledger. “I was kind of numb and went along with the program.” Once returned to the riverbank, however, Parker became terrified. “He was scared to death and literally begging Charles not to talk to us,” now-retired Jackson County Deputy Glenn Ryder tells the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, adding the men passed polygraph tests and were secretly recorded discussing the encounter. “I’ve never seen nothin’ like that before in my life,” Parker says on the tape, per LADbible. “[People] better wake up and start believin’.” Almost a half-century later, Parker wonders about the alleged aliens, including “where they came from … and why they had to get me,” per the Clarion Ledger. He adds, per WLOX: “I had rather not have it happened.”

My question is….why did this take 40 years to come about? Could it be the interests that this sort of thing generates thanks to the popularity of the “Ancient Aliens” meme? He will be a featured speaker at the next AlienCon…..

The German government says it has made no preparations for the possibility that aliens might land in the European country, the AP reports. In a response to questions from opposition Green Party lawmaker Dieter Janecek, the government says “there are no protocols or plans for a possible first contact with alien life.” Justifying that stance, the government added it believes “a first contact on German territory is extremely unlikely, based on today’s scientific knowledge.” Deutsche Welle quotes the government as adding, “Concrete cases that could have been the subject of bilateral or multilateral talks with other states are not known.”

That said, more than half of Germans polled in a recent survey say they believe extra-terrestrials are real, per Deutsche Welle. “The reason for believing is a mix of hope and fear,” says a senior consultant with YouGov, which conducted the survey of 1,171 people. “It’s hard for humans to imagine that we are this special and singular in a universe whose end we don’t even know, but it’s also not easy to picture sharing the special status of intelligent life. So I expected an outcome of around fifty-fifty.”

That is my Sunday and the heat is here to stay, at least for a couple more months….

Planet Nine From Outer Space

This is not some SciFi flick from Bela Ligosi(?) back in the 30’s (?)….instead this Saturday I want to write about a recent astronomical discovery…..

An enormous planet containing 10 times the mass of the Earth could explain the unusual orbit of a newly discovered asteroid. If found, the giant world would represent the first discovery of a planet in our solar system since Pluto in 1930, and before that Neptune in 1846. (Pluto was subsequently downgraded from planet to “dwarf planet” in 2006.)

The asteroid in question is called 2015 BP519. It was discovered three years ago at fifty-five times the Earth’s distance to the sun. Since that time, a group of astronomers led by Juliette Becker of the University of Michigan have been tracking it.

They now conclude the space rock is following a highly unusual orbit that is most easily explained if the gravity of a large – as yet unseen – planet has pulled it into place.

Anybody remember a dude named Sitchin?

Followers and readers of Zecharia Sitchin will know that the information about Nibiru comes from the Sumerians and the writing and artifacts they, and other ancient people, left behind. The core premise he has made in his writings is that there is a 10th Planet (again, including Pluto) in our solar system with an elliptical orbit of about 3600 of our years. People from Nibiru came to Earth and discovered the gold they needed to help repair their atmosphere and they began mining it. Much of the knowledge of these ancient people, which they knew because the Anunnaki (those who from heaven to Earth came) told them, has come true, including the color and size of Neptune and Uranus, and the very existence of the outer planets, long before our telescopes could find them. Scientists even suspect another large object in the Kuiper Belt, which might be Nibiru. So let’s assume that the other writings also have merit.

According to Zecharia Sitchin, and discussed at length in his book, The End of Days, Nibiru is not due to come near Earth for at least several hundred more years. Although it is possible that celestial events have impacted Nibiru’s orbit and shortened its annual cycle from 3600 years to something less, we don’t need to worry about its presence near Earth for some time.
