Debilitating poverty……open sewage……poor education…..sounds like most Third World nations, right?

Maybe so but in this case it is some of the stuff a UN investigator on poverty found in rural Alabama……yes, right here in the US of A……

A United Nations official investigating poverty in the United States was shocked at the level of environmental degradation in some areas of rural Alabama, saying he had never seen anything like it in the developed world.

“I think it’s very uncommon in the First World. This is not a sight that one normally sees. I’d have to say that I haven’t seen this,” Philip Alston, the U.N.’s Special Rapporteur on extreme poverty and human rights, told Connor Sheets of AL.com earlier this week as they toured a community in Butler County where raw sewage flows from homes through exposed PVC pipes and into open trenches and pits.

The tour through Alabama’s rural communities is part of a two-week investigation by the U.N. on poverty and human rights abuses in the United States. So far, U.N. investigators have visited cities and towns in California and Alabama, and will soon travel to Puerto Rico, Washington, D.C., and West Virginia.

Psst! Little Girl Step Into My Office

Most of us Southerns know of Roy Moore and his 10 commandments debacle at the Alabama Supreme Court and his antics afterwards about LGBT issues.  He has been running to replace Sessions as the senator from the great state of Alabama and the scary part is he has a good chance of winning that race……that is until the latest news came out about his early life…..

The latest high-profile figure accused of sexual misconduct is a politician who has staked his career on morality. The Washington Post is out with a detailed report about Alabama’s Roy Moore, the state’s former supreme court justice who is now running for the US Senate. A woman who is now 53 says Moore initiated a sexual encounter with her when she was just 14 and he was a 32-year-old assistant district attorney. Leigh Corfman says that they did not have intercourse, but that Moore drove her to his home, stripped down to his underwear, removed her pants and shirt, and touched her through her bra and underpants. She says that when he began guiding her hand toward his underwear, she recoiled, got dressed, and asked to leave, at which point he drove her home. Moore categorically denies the allegations as “fake news” drummed up by Democrats.

The Post also talks to three other women who say that Moore asked them out on dates, sometimes successfully, when they were between the ages of 16 and 18 and he was in his early 30s and still single. The account given by Corfman is the only one that advances beyond kissing. “I wasn’t ready for that,” Corfman says of Moore’s attempt to guide her hand. “I had never put my hand on a man’s penis, much less an erect one.” She says she first met Moore outside a courtroom, when he approached her and her mother and offered to sit with Corfman while her mom went inside for a custody hearing. In his later career, Moore would twice be removed from his chief justice post for taking stands against gay marriage and his refusal to remove a 10 Commandments plaque. Roy Moore was accused of initiating a sexual encounter with a 14-year-old girl when he was 32 in a Washington Post report published Thursday. Three other women say he asked them out on dates while they were between 16 and 18 years old and he was in his 30s. Now Republican senators are calling for the Senate hopeful from Alabama to drop out of the race—with one big caveat. “If these allegations are true, he must step aside,” the Hill quotes Sen. Mitch McConnell as saying in a statement. “If these allegations are found to be true, Roy Moore must drop out of the Alabama special Senate election,” Sen. Cory Gardner added.

I agree….time for this pervert get on his high horse and get the f*ck out of Dodge while he can……

Minutes before the Washington Post on Thursday published a bombshell report detailing allegations by a woman who claims Republican Senate nominee Roy Moore sexually assaulted her when she was 14, the Steve Bannon-directed outlet Breitbart News ran a story that spotlighted Moore’s denials of the claims against him and attempted to “undermine the Post‘s credibility.”

“The story detailed some of the allegations, but with a distinct twist,” notes Business Insider‘s Maxwell Tani. “Breitbart included five paragraphs of denials from Moore, which were placed above many of the details of the allegations.”

Headlined “After Endorsing Democrat in Alabama, Bezos’s Washington Post Plans to Hit Roy Moore with Allegations of Inappropriate Relations with Teenagers; Judge Claims Smear Campaign,” Breitbart‘s piece more closely resembles a “press release” for Moore than a news story, argued the Washington Post‘s Aaron Blake.

That should not be a surprise after all he, Bannon, is defending Trump even after the “Access Hollywood” tape was made public……the one where Trump talks about grabbing women by their hoo-hoo and all…..

Time for Moore to just ride off into the sunset on his high horse and disappear from the American collective memory……we have enough perverts in Washington….we do not need another.

Bringing Back Chain Gangs

The state next door has enacted a brutal anti-immigrant law, Alabama encase you are interested, and since the law immigrants have been fleeing the state faster than rats from the Titanic…..and now the geniuses in the political sphere are starting to think they may have pissed in their chili……farmers are crying that they cannot find workers to harvest their crops and they may well rot in the fields…..

First…let me pause here to laugh my ass off!

Wait!  Are these the same jobs that the immigrants were taking from us poor Americans?  For years now I have heard red necks bitch and moan about all the jobs these people were stealing from us hard working Americans……so far I have not seen a crush of Americans rushing to apply for any of these jobs……..

But now the legislators are considering changing the wording of the law and the Obama admin has filed a suit to stop the implementation of the law…….is there an answer to the problem of the exodus of immigrants?

We know Americans will not rush to the aid of the farmers……so short of admitting that they, the politicians, screwed up….what could be the answer for the problem?

Alabama farmers have proposed using prisoners to work their fields to replace migrants who fled the state after it passed the country’s harshest anti-immigration law, officials said Tuesday.

The Alabama Department of Agriculture and Industry officials met Tuesday in Mobile with farmers to discuss their proposal, a spokeswoman for the department told AFP.

“The suggestion to use prisoners who are eligible for work release programs was made as a way to help farmers fill the gap and find sufficient labor,” said Amy Belcher.

A statement by the department said the meeting with the farmers was convened “to help solve the chronic labor shortages created by Alabama’s new immigration law.”

Why not?  That has been the answer for centuries in the South…..forced labor….and the farmers will pay convicts less than they paid the immigrants……so basically the problem is…..finding CHEAP labor!

An Obama Day

In central Alabama’s Perry County, government workers already get a day off for President’s Day, Martin Luther King Day, and Veterans Day. In 2009, they’ll get one more: “Barack Obama Day.”

The rural county, which overwhelmingly supported Obama in last month’s presidential election, has approved the second Monday in November as “The Barack Obama Day.” Commissioners passed a measure that would close county offices for the new annual holiday and its roughly 40 workers will get a paid day off.

Perry County has 12,000 residents, most of them black. Voters there backed Obama by over 70 percent in a state that gave 60 percent of the overall vote to Republican John McCain based largely on strong support from white voters.

At the state level, Alabama observes the standard federal holidays as well as a handful of its own that include Confederate Memorial Day in April and the June birthday of Confederate President Jefferson Davis. It observes Martin Luther King’s birthday in January but the holiday is twinned with commemoration of Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee on the same day.
