The 2020 Black Vote

In this election year of 2020 much has been said, speculated and lied about the direction of the black vote.

The MSM pundits want you to believe that it is a certainty that the vote will go to Biden and Harris….

Why?

First Biden was VP to Obama and since he is black they assume that will drive the vote toward Biden….and then he picked a black woman as his running mate and the pundits make sure that you know that should help drive the black vote into the Biden column.

All that could be true but only if the black vote talked about is 50 years old or older.

Younger black voters are not all that thrilled with the choices they have in the election field this time around…..as was evident with the interviews that NBC has with young undecided black voters…..

msnbc.com/ayman-mohyeldi

And another roundtable…..

msnbc.com/am-joy/watch/e

Watch the videos!  Not at all the picture that the MSM is trying hard to rewrite…

Both those videos are very telling…..young blacks do not see a future with these Dems that are pushed down their throats…..

This is one reason the so-called “Squad” is so popular among the younger voters and that includes Black women.

The Squad?  (For Christ sake use your brain and your finger…Google has the answer.)

How about the overall black vote?

But available evidence suggests that Biden, while viewed favorably by Black Americans, does not enjoy the extraordinarily positive sentiments Obama received when he was campaigning. An aggregated Gallup sample from late July through mid-September shows Biden with a 75% favorable and 20% unfavorable rating among Black Americans, compared with Obama’s consistent 90%+ favorable ratings among Black Americans in August, September and October 2008, during his initial presidential campaign. Gallup tracking in August and September 2016 showed Clinton with an average favorable rating of 71% among Black Americans as she campaigned for the presidency. Thus, Biden’s current image among Black Americans is closer to Clinton’s than to Obama’s at comparable points in their campaigning, underscoring the challenge facing Biden as he attempts to replicate Obama’s ability to bring out the Black vote.

Black People Is The Riots!

We have had yet another police shooting a black man and this time shot in the back numerous times.

Of course there have been protests and destruction…..and the conversation is still not being had……why is that?

I am sure that you have either had this conversation or heard someone else stating that it is those “Blacks” that are doing all the rioting….in essence it is all their fault.

I mean to some white people are so weak willed that they need Blacks to tell them when to riot…..which is total crap!

Let me say here…..these are protests not riots….only a racist would call them so…..

An honest review of the facts should compel a rational thinker to redirect his or her disgust—away from racist conclusions, and toward the outrageous indecencies that a well-to-do society forces on its less fortunate members.

It’s easy for lazy thinkers to gloss over the deep-seated reasons for the anger and violence of downtrodden people. Recent lootings of upscale shops on Chicago’s Magnificent Mile brought out waves of disgust for the ‘thugs’ who were said to care little for human values.

But an honest review of the facts should compel a rational thinker to redirect his or her disgust—away from racist conclusions, and toward the outrageous indecencies that a well-to-do society forces on its less fortunate members.

 1. For Every $100.00 in Median White Wealth, Black People Have $8.70

In 1968, it was $9.43. It keeps getting worse for beaten-down Americans. In the past twenty years, median income for Black households has dropped 5 percent while increasing 6 percent for White households. This year the Black and Latino communities have suffered the greatest effects of the coronavirus pandemic. Because of their job losses and lack of savings and inability to maintain rent payments, they will be taking the brunt of a growing housing crisis, especially in the big cities, where rent for Millennials is already over two-thirds of their incomes. Black and Latino households are also more like to face food insufficiencies. Yet the Trump administration recently considered cuts to the food stamp program.

“Lazy Thinkers”….I like the description……it is much more polite than what I will call them….

I know that there are things conspiring to prevent the protests from making the evening news…..but do not fear they are still raging….just not important enough for the media to break out into coverage.

09 August 1945–1100 Hours

The second and final A-bomb was dropped on Nagasaki, Japan.

Thus ending the Second World War.

Ever since there has been a debate on whether the bombs were necessary for the Allies to have won the war……I thoughts are NO.

But most people see it differently…I offer another view…..

At a time when Americans are reassessing so many painful aspects of our nation’s past, it is an opportune moment to have an honest national conversation about our use of nuclear weapons on Japanese cities in August 1945. The fateful decision to inaugurate the nuclear age fundamentally changed the course of modern history, and it continues to threaten our survival. As the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists’ Doomsday Clock warns us, the world is now closer to nuclear annihilation than at any time since 1947.

The accepted wisdom in the United States for the last 75 years has been that dropping the bombs on Hiroshima on Aug. 6, 1945, and on Nagasaki three days later was the only way to end the World War II without an invasion that would have cost hundreds of thousands of American and perhaps millions of Japanese lives. Not only did the bombs end the war, the logic goes, they did so in the most humane way possible.

However, the overwhelming historical evidence from American and Japanese archives indicates that Japan would have surrendered that August, even if atomic bombs had not been used — and documents prove that President Truman and his closest advisors knew it.

https://www.commondreams.org/views/2020/08/06/dropping-atomic-bombs-hiroshima-and-nagasaki-was-unnecessary

Final note…..Americans hatred for the Japanese after WW2 lead to the events of the A-bombs…….and among the Black community were the loudest opponents to the use of these weapons…….

…  missing is the recognition that African-Americans were some of the first in the country to voice concern about or even condemn the bomb, and that Black leftists were some of the first to draw the connections between colonialism, racism, capitalism and war.

The general American hatred for the Japanese during World War II cannot be overstated. Thanks to the tireless activism of younger Japanese-Americans in the 1960s and 1970s, many Americans now know about the inhumane internment of Japanese-Americans during WWII — less know that Nazi POWs held in American camps were often treated with musical, theatrical, and even movie showings on most nights, set up volleyball leagues with their guards, were invited to dances and other social events, and would even be able to visit shops and restaurants in town that Black American G.I.s could not. Some historians have pointed out that most Americans at the time could differentiate between Nazis and Germans, fascists and Italians — but with Japan, all Japanese people were not only suspect, but by their very nature the enemy. Everything was done to dehumanize Japanese people, from seemingly all major forces of society:

Early opposition to the atomic bomb came from Black America

Biden’s Large Lead With Blacks

Every poll you see about the choices of candidates for 2020 and the media lets the world know that Biden by far leads among blacks in the coming election.

But is that just bluster or is it truthful?

Just like Trump’s lead on older white voters it appears that Biden is popular with older black voters……young Blacks are not all that thrilled about Biden’s presidency.

Perry Green doesn’t believe that Joe Biden is listening to what young, Black Americans want right now.

Across the country, young people are protesting systemic racism and calling on political leaders to reallocate funding from local police to other community resources. Green, who is Black, criticized Biden for not supporting the “Defund the Police” movement that many activists support.

“You got Black youth across the country, calling for defunding the police and thinking differently about law enforcement, and … a couple days later, in the midst of all the protests … (Biden’s) campaign says ‘Let’s spend more money on community policing,'” Green told USA TODAY.

https://news.yahoo.com/young-black-voters-arent-enthusiastic-090013613.html

I have been writing about why I am not a supporter of the candidate Biden….I do not think he is what is needed to bring this country out of the Trumpian funk.

Combat Training For Blacks?

I read a news report and thought that it was a historical piece from the 60s and 70s…..

OMG! I remember back in those days the word on the streets were that blacks were hoarding guns and were waiting for the word to start the revolution.

Well the word never came. And the paranoid whites wait for the time when the prophecy will come true.

Now back to the news report…….

NBC news reported “Russian documents reveal desire to sow racial discord and violence in the US.” The claim is that these documents are communications between associates of Yevgeny Prigozhin, who is described as a “Kremlin linked oligarch indicted by special counsel Robert Mueller.” The documents were obtained by the Dossier Center, a London based investigative project funded by exiled Russian opposition leader Mikhail Khodorkovsky. NBC News admitted they have not independently verified the documents.

These communications, which NBC says are light on detail, suggest a plan to recruit African Americans and transport them to camps in Africa “for combat prep and training in sabotage.”

The plan, entitled “Development Strategy of a Pan-African State on U.S. Territory,” proposed to recruit poor and disenfranchised African Americans “who have experience in organized crime groups” and members of “radical black movements for participation in civil disobedience actions.”

As usual this is short on specifics……I ask what did it serve to report on something with few facts?

Was this merely a news report to fuel the anti-black sentiment?  Was this a serious news story?

But there is this….maybe this is where the Russians got the idea……uber conserv commentator Ann Coulter thinks blacks should arm themselves…..

Did you ever think you’d live to see the day when you could make a Venn diagram for ultraconservative commentator Ann Coulter and historic Black leader Malcolm X? Well, if you’re reading this, you’ve lived to see that day.

In an interview on Bill O’Reilly’s Fox News program last week, Coulter said that, in the wake of the Trayvon Martin shooting, African-Americans should begin arming themselves.

Here’s the full context of the conversation:

I cannot see where this report on NBC was necessary…what was the purpose?

Maybe to generate hate of one sort or another?

In “Manufacturing Consent: The Political Economy of the Mass Media,” published in 1988, Edward S. Herman and Noam Chomsky exposed the techniques that the commercial media used to promote and defend the economic, social and political agendas of the ruling elites. These techniques included portraying victims as either worthy or unworthy of sympathy. A Catholic priest such as Jerzy Popiełuszko, for example, murdered by the communist regime in Poland in 1984, was deified, but four Catholic missionaries who were raped and murdered in 1980 in El Salvador by U.S.-backed death squads were slandered as fellow travelers of the “Marxist” rebel movement. The techniques also included both narrowing the debate in a way that buttressed the elite consensus and intentionally failing to challenge the intentions of the ruling elites or the actual structures of power.

This is something that I have been saying for 40+ years……I wish my readers would educate themselves…..I do not care if you agree with me or not….just learn what is what….

Black History Month–Bobby Seale

When I was a much younger man I was a political activist, early to mid 70’s, during my travels I got to Oakland, California….I had heard about the work of the Black Panthers and wanted to see how they were pulling off their mini revolution…..about here some will be rolling their eyes but those are the people that have NO ideas what the Panthers were doing other than the propaganda crap that the government and the media was feeding the country.

When we got permission we were introduced to Bobby Seale and a quick hand shake with Huey Newton……we were told that we could walk around and talk to people freely…..I witnessed an amazing co-operative going on with food banks, clinics, pre-school, legal help…I witnessed many programs designed to help the community….I was impressed but the tour was far too short.

I think the people like Bobby Seale do not get the historic coverage they deserve simply because someone did not like their politics.  I will attempt to change that with every opportunity……that is why I am highlighting Bobby Seale here on IST…..

Bobby Seale and Huey Newton founded the Black Panther Party for Self-Defense at a community center in North Oakland, California, in October 1966, and acknowledged it was a living testament to the Work of Malcolm X. The Black Panthers practiced militant self-defense of minority communities against the U.S. government, and fought to establish revolutionary socialism through mass organizing and community based programs. The party was one of the first organizations in U.S. history to militantly struggle for ethnic minority and working class emancipation. The Black Panther agenda was the revolutionary establishment of real economic, social, and political equality across gender and color lines. The FBI labeled Seale and his colleagues in the Black Panthers as “Public Enemy Number One”.

Robert George Seale was born on October 22, 1936, to a poor African American carpenter and his wife in Dallas, Texas. The Seale family moved to Port Arthur, Texas, and then to San Antonio, Texas, before finally settling in Oakland, California, during World War II. Attributing his failure to make the basketball and football teams to racial prejudice, Seale quit Oakland High School and joined the U.S. Air Force. After three years in the Air Force, Seale was court-martialed and given a bad conduct discharge for disobeying a colonel at Ellsworth Air Force Base in South Dakota.

History does not teach many Americans about “Black Nationalism”……there is more to it than the negative headlines…….whether one agrees with the ideology is of no concern…it still should be taught and understood.

It is a political and social movement prominent in the 1960s and early ’70s in the United States among some African Americans. The movement, which can be traced back to Marcus Garvey’s Universal Negro Improvement Association of the 1920s, sought to acquire economic power and to infuse among blacks a sense of community and group feeling. Many adherents to black nationalism assumed the eventual creation of a separate black nation by African Americans. As an alternative to being assimilated by the American nation, which is predominantly white, black nationalists sought to maintain and promote their separate identity as a people of black ancestry. With such slogans as “black power” and “black is beautiful,” they also sought to inculcate a sense of pride among blacks.

Time to learn more about the real work people were doing in their communities and Bobby Seale is a fine example.

Do not dismiss what you do not understand.

Who Was Haywood Hall, Jr.?

College of Political Knowlerdge

Subject:  Black History

In my years as an ultra radical I came upon works by many people within the early movements of the 20th century……I found a man that I could look up to for his work with the poor and minorities….

As per my tradition I try to find and profile an African-American leader especially someone that most Americans are unfamiliar with their contributions for various reasons……this time it is Haywood Hall, Jr….aka Harry Haywood………

I would like to thank blackpast.org for the following…….

A radical theoretician, anti-colonialist, labor organizer, and civil rights activist, Harry Haywood was one of the most prominent and influential African American Communists of the twentieth century.  Haywood, the son of former slaves, was born in South Omaha, Nebraska in 1898. He migrated to Chicago after serving in World War I and organized community defense during the 1919 Chicago race riot. In 1922 he joined the African Blood Brotherhood and in 1925 became an official member of the CPUSA. The following year Haywood traveled to Moscow where he studied at the International Lenin School. During this time he made his greatest intellectual contribution to the American Communist movement: the 1928 and 1930 Comintern “Resolutions on the Negro Question,” which theorized the right of self-determination for African Americans in the southern Black Belt through the creation of a sovereign black nation state. Although never pursued in practice, “self-determination” for African Americans was adopted as the official line of the Comintern and became the rhetorical touchstone for CP activism in African American communities throughout the 1930s.

After returning to the United States in 1930, Haywood helped found of the CP’s League of Struggle for Negro Rights (LSNR). He was active in LSNR campaigns against lynching, tenant evictions, segregation, and legal frame-ups and served as the organization’s president from 1934 to 1936. From 1927 to 1938 he was a member of the CPUSA’s Central Committee and served on the Communist Party Politburo from 1931-1938. In 1937 Haywood joined the Abraham Lincoln Brigade and fought alongside Loyalists during the Spanish Civil War.

Haywood became increasingly estranged from the Party in the post World War II era. He spoke out against Earl Browder’s accommodationist line, as well as Nikita Khrushchev’s destalinization reforms in the mid 1950s. When the Party officially disavowed the theory of self-determination in the American Black Belt in 1957, Haywood denounced the decision and was expelled from the Party two years later. He spent the remainder of his life helping to build the Mao-aligned New Communist Movement and mentoring a new generation of black radicals in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Author of scores of essays, pamphlets, and treatises on a variety of topics, Haywood’s major works are Negro Liberation, published in 1949, and his 1978 autobiography, Black Bolshevik. Harry Haywood died on January 4, 1985.

Most people have never heard of this person simply because he was a….wait for it…..Communist.  I hate to tell people but most of the early labor organizers and activists were either Communist or Socialist……regardless of ideology they were instrumental in bring about equality and fairness in the labor sector….and Haywood was I true and important leader of that movement…..he needs to be remembered for the actions he took and the deeds he did to progress African-Americans forward in a society that would have preferred to keep them marginalized…….
