WTF? What Is He Doing?

Word has come out that the leader of the War Department has called a meeting like no other…..

US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth has ordered hundreds of US military generals and admirals stationed around the world to an urgent meeting, scheduled to take place at the Marine Corps Base in Quantico, Virginia, next week, The Washington Post reported on Thursday.

There are approximately 800 generals and admirals in the US and at US bases worldwide, and sources told the Post that Hegseth’s order applies to every senior officer with the rank of brigadier general or rear admiral and above. The directive has been described as highly unusual and possibly unprecedented.

“None of the people who spoke with the Post could recall a defense secretary ever ordering so many of the military’s generals and admirals to assemble like this,” the Post report said.

The reason for the meeting is unclear, and even the generals and admirals are reportedly unaware of the purpose. The meeting may be related to Hegseth’s recent orders for major changes at the Pentagon, including a directive to reduce the number of four-star officers by 20%.

Another possibility is that Hegseth is ordering the meeting to prepare the senior military officers for a new war of major military escalation. A congressional aide speaking to CNN said that unless Hegseth planned to announce “a major new military campaign or a complete overhaul of the military command structure, I can’t imagine a good reason for this.”

There are several areas around the world where the US could potentially launch a new war, including Venezuela, as the US has deployed a fleet of warships to the Caribbean and has begun bombing boats in the area under the pretext of fighting drug trafficking, though US officials have told The New York Times that the real purpose of the deployment is regime change.

The US and Israel could be preparing to launch another war on Iran, as the US has maintained a hardline policy against the Islamic Republic since the ceasefire that ended the 12-Day War, and tensions are soaring in Eastern Europe between Russia and NATO. President Trump has also recently floated the idea of retaking Bagram Air Base in Afghanistan, an idea that would require military force since it has been rejected by the Taliban.

The War Department may also be looking to turn military operations inward, as President Trump recently declared that Antifa is a “domestic terrorist organization.”

Later on Thursday, both President Trump and Vice President JD Vance downplayed the meeting. “It’s not particularly unusual that generals who report to the secretary of War and then to the president of the United States are coming to speak with the secretary of War,” Vance said. “It’s actually not unusual at all and I think it’s odd that you’ve made it into such a big story.”

(antiwar.com)

WTF is going on?

Everyone is speculating on just what does this means….. so I guess I will join in….

With Donny’s newest EO declaring anyone in opposition as the ‘enemy’ I feel that this move by Hogsbreath is a meeting to plan the possible use of US troops to carry out Donny’s ‘dismantling’ of the ‘radical Left’.

If I am wrong then why does he need ALL the top generals and admirals in one place for a secret meeting?

Since the popular meme for this week is the destruction of the radical Left then my assumption makes sense (at least to me)….

Or

Could it be that the War Department is ready to drop the hammer on Greenland?

So much bullshit coming out of DC these days it is hard to pinpoint what the chowder heads are thinking.

Any deep thoughts?

The War On Education Continues

The conservs have always had a hard on for teachers and in the last decade it has gotten to pathetic heights….for example that a/hole Bannon attacks teachers as terrorists…

Steve Bannon labeled America’s teachers “terrorists” while speaking from Charlie Kirk’s massive memorial service in Arizona on Sunday.

The former Trump adviser made the comment during a broadcast on the right-wing network Real America’s Voice, as his co-host Gina Loudon was celebrating Kirk’s “throwback ideas,” such as “young marriage” and having “lots of children.”

When Loudon noted that the late right-wing activist’s old-school ideas “are not popular on college campuses right now,” Bannon pushed back with a startling statement.

“Well, I actually think they are popular,” Bannon, 71, said, “but it’s not the way those kids—look, from kindergarten all the way up, they are essentially, you know, a third of the teachers are terrorists that are trying to form them.”

https://www.thedailybeast.com/steve-bannon-says-teachers-are-terrorists-in-unhinged-charlie-kirk-tribute/

Terrorists?  Seriously?  What kind of deluded moron makes such an assertion?

A MAGA twat….that’s who.

More on the sad state of education….

The average reading and math scores of American high school seniors fell to their lowest levels in two decades in 2024, according to new national data released last week.

The results, from the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP), found that, on average, reading scores for 12th graders were 10 points lower in 2024 than they were in 1992, when the test was first administered, and that math scores fell to their lowest levels since 2005, when the math assessment began.

The test, administered by the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES), which is part of the US Department of Education, assessed roughly 19,300 12th-graders in math, 24,300 in reading and 23,000 eighth-graders in science between January and March of last year.

The report found that 35% of seniors “performed at or above” the NAEP’s “proficient” level in reading, and 22% were at or above that level in math.

It also stated that 45% of 12th graders scored below the NAEP’s “basic” level in math, marking a five percentage-point increase from 2019. In reading, 32% of students scored below the basic level, which was a two-point increase from 2019

What can we expect with the assault on education and the whole social media BS….

I think we need public education and good teachers that make the slow mind students think for themselves….it seems that the GOP is doing all it can to kill public education….I do not agree one iota with any of their plans for schools…..

While the White House’s fight with elite universities such as Columbia and Harvard has recently dominated the headlines, the feud overshadows the broader and more far-reaching assault on K-12 public education by the Trump administration and many states.

The Trump administration has gutted the Department of Education, imperiling efforts to protect students’ civil rights, and proposed billions in public education cuts for fiscal year 2026. Meanwhile, the administration is diverting billions of taxpayer funds into K-12 private schools. These moves build upon similar efforts by conservative states to rein in public education going back decades.

But the consequences of withdrawing from public education could be dire for the U.S. In our 2024 book, “How Government Built America,” we explore the history of public education, from Horace Mann’s “common school movement” in the early 19th century to the GI Bill in the 20th that helped millions of veterans go to college and become homeowners after World War II.

We found that public education has been essential for not only creating an educated workforce but for inculcating the United States’ fundamental values of liberty, equality, fairness and the common good.

https://theconversation.com/why-america-still-needs-public-schools-260368

I support education completely and thanks to the GI Bill after Vietnam most of my education was paid for (of course that was a long time ago before college became big business and prices went out of sight)

Education should be a vital component of preparing our children to face this world and help the next generation to do the same.

Will This Save Our Country?

There is a new battle over the possibility of shutting down the government….this time it is the Dems that are considering using this game to further deal with Donny….but seriously…..would that be a good idea?

The House members took the time to pass a short term plan to avoid a governmental shut-down….

The House on Friday passed a short-term spending bill to extend government funding for seven weeks and avoid a partial government shutdown on Oct. 1, but prospects looked dimmer in the Senate, where the two parties show no signs of budging on the matter. The bill would generally continue existing funding levels through Nov. 21, reports the AP. Democratic leaders are adamantly opposed and are threatening a government shutdown if Republicans don’t let them have a say on the measure, as some Democratic support will be needed to get a bill to President Trump’s desk for his signature. The vote was 217-212.

House Speaker Mike Johnson had few votes to spare as he sought to persuade fellow Republicans to vote for the funding patch, something many in his conference have routinely opposed in past budget fights. But this time, GOP members see a chance to portray Democrats as responsible for a shutdown. “We were very careful. We put no partisan measures in this. There’s no poison pills. None of that,” Johnson said leading up to the vote. In a sign the vote could be close, Trump weighed in, urging House Republicans to pass the bill and put the burden on Democrats to oppose it. GOP leaders often need Trump’s help to win over holdouts on legislation. “Every House Republican should UNIFY, and VOTE YES!” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

Democratic leader Hakeem Jeffries said that in opposing the continuing resolution, Democrats were working to protect the health care of the American people. He said that with Republicans controlling the White House and both branches of Congress, “Republicans will own a government shutdown. Period. Full stop.” The House vote now sends the bill to the Senate, where Senate Majority Leader John Thune said the Senate will vote on the measure along with a dueling Democratic proposal. But neither is expected to win the 60 votes necessary to advance.

Another close vote… playing the partisan game of do as little as possible.

At least we have a shot at some sort of logic but then it has to go to the senate, where logic goes to die….

Let the game begin….

The Senate rejected competing measures on Friday to fund federal agencies for a few weeks when the new budget year begins on Oct. 1, increasing prospects for a partial government shutdown on that date. Leaders of the two parties sought to blame the other side for the standoff, reports the AP:

  • Democrats accused Republicans of not negotiating with them to address some of their priorities on health care as part of the funding measure, even though they knew some Democratic votes would be needed to get a bill to the president’s desk.
  • Republicans said Democrats were making demands that would dramatically increase spending and were not germane to the core issue of keeping agencies fully running for a short period of time while negotiations continued on a full-year spending measure.
  • “The Republican bill is a clean, nonpartisan, short-term continuing resolution to fund the government to give us time to do the full appropriations process. And the Democrat bill is the exact opposite,” Senate Majority Leader John Thune said shortly before the votes. “It’s what you might call, not a clean CR, a dirty CR—laden down with partisan policies and appeals to Democrats’ leftist base.” The AP reports the Democratic proposal would extend enhanced health insurance subsidies set to expire at the end of the year, plus reverse Medicaid cuts that were included in Republicans’ big tax breaks and spending cuts bill enacted earlier this year.

This song and dance bullshit is getting old….when will these turds start acting like the reps we elected them to be?

Donny is cheer leading for a shutdown…..

President Trump on Friday predicted the government would shut down “for a period of time” amid an impasse in the Senate between Republicans and Democrats.

Trump expressed some pessimism about the two sides reaching an agreement that can garner 60 votes in the Senate. Republicans have 53 seats in the chamber, meaning at least seven Democrats will need to support a funding measure to keep the government open.

“We’ll continue to talk to the Democrats, but I think you could very well end up with a closed country for a period of time,” Trump said. “And we’ll take care of the military. We’ll take care of Social Security. We’ll take care of the things we have to take care of.

“A lot of the things Democrats fight for … will not be able to be paid,” Trump added. “So we’ll watch and see how we do with that.”

(thehill.com)

This would fit nicely in his smear campaign and help make for a rally to drooling mental midgets a success.

Donny is hoping the shutdown occurs….he is licking his hateful lips.

This Is How We Make The Case

I see that the US has hit yet another ‘drug’ boat….and the story is the same…..but just like all our other conflicts in the last 50 years there is a process for making the case for the actions the admin desires….

US/Israel rules of war: build a lie, then slaughter civilians from the air.

There’s a widespread belief that every lie contains a kernel of truth. If it was ever the case it is not any more. The belief is a potent tool in the hands of an imaginative propagandist who is capable of inventing a lie from whole cloth. Such is the nature of the lie about Venezuela being a source of drugs. It is a lie that has been invented in front of us, in real time. For while the US has been trying to destroy Venezuela for decades, it has now become even less honest about it than it used to be.

We live in an age of the whole cloth type of lie. Joe Biden talked about seeing photos of beheaded babies that he did not, in fact, see. Tony Blinken solemnly told the story of murderers eating lunch with a dead family that never existed. Eli Beer said he saw a baby in an oven that, like Biden, he did not, in fact, see. Yossi Landau reported seeing beheaded babies that he did not, in fact, see. Direct, specific, detailed, lies.

Why they told these lies is obvious enough: to justify crimes, the enemy must be dastardly and to justify genocide, only the most lurid tales are worth telling. American media has a long and sordid history of atrocity propaganda. Specific lies are told to create specific outcomes.

In the American arsenal of lies, the “Venezuela drugs” lie is perhaps most analogous to the “Hamas uses human shields” lie. For if “Venezuela drugs” is true, any kind of “war on drugs” action is justified, the same way “Hamas uses human shields” opens up all the world to any kind of genocidal act. Any human is killable as a “Hamas human shield”, and any act of theft or warfare can be justified in fighting the drugs.

The US and Israel have learned that they can act without moral or legal restraint and have found the political costs of committing genocide containable, the levels of dissent for bringing wars to new countries (Yemen, Iran, Qatar…) bearable. Harris and Emersberger have argued recently that it is very difficult to imagine a way to avoid escalating attacks on Venezuela, however unlikely they may be to lead to “regime change”.

Post-2023 propaganda is so brazen that at times it seems it isn’t even intended to be believed by its own adherents. We are not sure of the value of debunking it. But we do so in the hope that by watching how they make a story from nothing, we can learn something about how they plan to do propaganda in their new genocidal world.

https://znetwork.org/znetarticle/the-invention-of-venezuela-drugs/

Doing what we do best.

Then there is the new proposal for the AUMF which could be a disaster waiting to happen….

A draft proposal to authorize the use of U.S. military force against drug cartels is currently floating around Congress and the White House, according to a recent New York Times report. Although an official version of the proposal has yet to be released, publicly available information suggests that it could be used to justify U.S. military intervention in at least 60 countries.

The U.S.-led “War on Drugs” has escalated rapidly over the last month: after the White House signed a secret directive authorizing attacks on Latin American drug cartels, the U.S. built up its military presence in the region and began conducting a series of deadly airstrikes on alleged drug-smuggling civilian boats in the international waters of the Caribbean. Human Rights Watch called the strikes “unlawful extrajudicial killings.”

MTG Rides Again

There are times when MTG speaks and sounds like she has lost her ever-loving mind and then on rare occasions she makes some sense…..believe it or not.

One of her more recent pronouncements makes sense in a weird sort of way….

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) revived her calls for a “national divorce” on Monday, ominously warning that the American right and left have “nothing left to talk about.”

Greene sparked controversy in February of 2023, when she wrote on X, “We need a national divorce.”

“We need to separate by red states and blue states and shrink the federal government. Everyone I talk to says this. From the sick and disgusting woke culture issues shoved down our throats to the Democrat’s [sic] traitorous America Last policies, we are done,” Greene added.

Greene was quickly denounced at the time. Utah Governor Spencer Cox (R) slammed Greene’s call to split the country as “evil,” and former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) added that “Secession is unconstitutional. No member of Congress should advocate secession, Marjorie.”

Greene’s post on Monday included much of the same sentiment as her previous comment, although this time she clarified she wants the dissolution of the union to be “peaceful.”

“There is nothing left to talk about with the left. They hate us,” Greene wrote on X, adding:

“What will come from Charlie Kirk being martyred is already happening. It is a spiritual revival building the kingdom for Christ. But it will happen on the outside, not within the halls of our government. Democrats are hardened in their beliefs and will flip the switch back as soon as they have power,” she added in her lengthy post.

Marjorie Taylor Greene Calls For United States to Be Split Up, Declares Country ‘No Longer Safe’ For Anyone

Her original thought was interestinmg and then she had to go off into Looney Tunes town…

All this red meat bullshit is doing nothing to further this country into that ‘greatness’ that all talk about but somehow cannot find a way to do so…..besides I would say this country is already divided and that will take decades to repair if ever.

So is she stating the obvious?

Any thoughts for the readers….all will be considered and appreciated…..

Let’s Try Something New For Ukraine

For months, probably for years, the rhetoric from Donny and his band of incompetents has been that Ukraine, to achieve peace, may need to consider swapping land for peace.

With Donny in NYC for the big UN speech (which was something to laugh about) it appears that the Trump administration has a new way forward for Ukraine.

President Trump said Tuesday that he believed Ukraine could win back all territory lost to Russia, a dramatic shift from his repeated calls for Kyiv to make concessions to end the war. Trump posted on Truth Social soon after meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly gathering of world leaders, the AP reports.

  • “I think Ukraine, with the support of the European Union, is in a position to fight and WIN all of Ukraine back in its original form,” Trump wrote. “With time, patience, and the financial support of Europe and, in particular, NATO, the original Borders from where this War started, is very much an option.”
  • “Russia has been fighting aimlessly for three and a half years a War that should have taken a Real Military Power less than a week to win,” Trump wrote. “This is not distinguishing Russia. In fact, it is very much making them look like ‘a paper tiger.'”
  • Trump said that when people across Russia find out “what is really going on” with the war and their economy, “Ukraine would be able to take back their Country in its original form and, who knows, maybe even go further than that!”
  • Trump had previously warned that any peace deal would likely involve Ukraine giving up some land, the BBC reports. He said Tuesday that he had changed his position “after getting to know and fully understand the Ukraine/Russia military and economic situation.”
  • The strengthened support from Trump, if it sticks, is a huge win for Zelensky, who has urged the American president to keep up the pressure on Vladimir Putin to end his brutal war.
  • Trump’s previous suggestions that Ukraine would never be able to reclaim all the territory that Russia has occupied since seizing the Crimean Peninsula in 2014 had disheartened Zelensky, Europeans, and Ukrainians and called into question the US commitment to UN principles of sovereignty and territorial integrity. But now, Trump’s view of the battlefield coincides more with Ukraine’s, Zelensky said. “Trump is a game changer by himself,” Zelensky told reporters after their meeting.
  • “In the event that Russia is not ready to make a deal to end the war, then the United States is fully prepared to impose a very strong round of powerful tariffs, which would stop the bloodshed, I believe, very quickly,” Trump told the General Assembly. However, he repeated his calls for Europe to “step it up” and stop buying Russian oil, the engine feeding Putin’s war machine.” On Truth Social, he wrote, “Putin and Russia are in BIG Economic trouble, and this is the time for Ukraine to act.”

Is this the final word on Ukraine…..or will the Donny yo-yo be put into play yet again?

The “Z” man has to be jerking off in the bath for the money and aid will keep rolling.

Since the war did not end on day one I guess he has to try and smooth his stands to be more likeable for the coming mid-terms.

Any thoughts?

And Donny Babbled On

Yesterday his High Majesty walked into the UN to give the yearly speech that all presidents have done for decades…..and he did not disappoint and threw more red meat for those mental midgets he calls MAGA.

There was problem with the teleprompter that delayed his speech…..thank god it was rectified or god knows what junk would have fallen from the mouth of the idiot.

Once the teleprompter glitch was out of the way, President Trump hit a wide range of subjects in an aggressive speech on Tuesday to the UN General Assembly. Highlights via the BBC, the AP, the Washington Post, and the New York Times:

  • Climate change: He called this the “greatest con job” in history, a statement a BBC reporter says was met with gasps. “If you don’t [move] away from the green energy scam, your country is going to fail,” Trump told his fellow world leaders. He said the idea of a carbon footprint is “a hoax made up by people … with evil intentions.”
  • Immigration: Trump told the world body to end the “failed experiment of open borders,” accusing the UN of facilitating an “invasion” of the US and other Western nations. He said Europe in particular is in “serious trouble” because of immigration.
  • Flexing: But even while depicting himself as a peacemaker, Trump boasted of ordering strikes on Iran and on alleged drug smugglers from Venezuela. “We will blow you out of existence,” Trump warned future smugglers.
  • Biden: Trump went after his predecessor a number of times, referring to the “Sleepy Joe Biden administration” as one of the most “corrupt” and “incompetent.” He again blamed the Russia-Ukraine war partly on Biden.
  • UN slam: “What is the purpose of the United Nations?” Trump asked. “I’ve always said (the UN) has such tremendous, tremendous potential, but it’s not even coming close to living up to that potential.” Trump said he has resolved multiple global conflicts in contrast to the UN. “Empty words don’t solve wars.”

Your typical red meat….on immigration, climate change, Biden, and taking a shot at the UN….all predictable.

Did he say anything positive?

Just A Passing Thought

From time to time I have flights of fantasy….and this is just one that I came up with over a cup of good coffee.

We had had months of Donny new approach to the government and it is working well for him….but could the Dems learn from his governing style?  (now that is an excellent question)

This article is an interesting look into a possible future of the government…..

This article, for clarity’s sake, rests on a few assumptions. It is January 20, 2029, and a generic Democratic president has just taken the oath of office. They are joined by the exact majorities that Trump had in 2024: 220 seats in the House and 53 seats in the Senate. The Supreme Court remains unchanged with six conservative justices and three liberal justices—a likely prospect, given who would select the replacements of the court’s eldest members.

This allows us to assume that the next Democratic president will face a similar playing field. This includes a highly deferential legislative branch—one that will confirm all (or almost all) of their nominees, prevent government shutdowns through regular funding measures, and decline to use certain congressional powers to reverse executive actions—and a federal judiciary that is highly deferential to executive power. (Or at least this particular executive’s power.)

The most important thing the next Democratic president can do is simply turn the lights back on. Reversing Trump’s executive orders and regulatory changes would be the new administration’s number-one priority. Staffing agencies with political appointees who actually believe in their agencies’ missions will also help. Such changes happen to a certain extent with every partisan change in a presidential administration, but it will be particularly dramatic in the post-Trump era.

At the same time, much of the damage will not be easily reversible. Top Trump officials like Russell Vought, the director of the White House’s Office of Management and Budget, and Elon Musk, the former head of the so-called Department of Government Efficiency, prioritized large-scale reductions in the federal civil service almost immediately after Trump took office. The apparent goal was to reduce state capacity—the government’s basic ability to do things—by eliminating institutional knowledge and manpower in key regulatory agencies. It would take many years for the next administration to rebuild that workforce, which was precisely the Trump administration’s goal.

https://newrepublic.com/article/200599/next-democratic-president-governs-trump

An interesting thought indeed…..

Just what would the GOP be saying if a Dem president was issuing all these EOs and targeting opponents with vitriol….they would be having a stroke on camera at all the silliness and un-American activities.  (I ask that question knowing the type of total manure that I will get as an answer)

My take is that since most Dems are worthless centrists they just do not have the nuts to be this bold….so if and when they return to the seat of power they will be the same party of old white guys that do little and promise the world.  (I do hope I am mistaken but past incidents tells me I am not)

How Does Donny Rank?

There have been stories of bad approval ratings and according to some is all made up….everything is just ducky in DC.

This is a survey that looks at key issues and how the public perceives Donny….

A new Washington Post-Ipsos poll presents a complicated picture for President Trump as he attempts to stake out territory on crime and the economy, with most Americans expressing skepticism about his handling of key issues. A look:

  • Crime. The survey shows that 54% disapprove of Trump’s response to crime, though most don’t believe that the other party would do any better. Some 44% said they trust Republicans most on handling crime, compared to 22% for Democrats and 33% who don’t trust either party. Only 37% supported Trump’s use of the National Guard to patrol Washington, DC, while 42% supported sending troops to other cities to fight crime.
  • The economy. The poll found that 68% of Americans rate the economy as “not so good” or “poor,” with 70% believing Trump’s tariffs are increasing the prices of the things they buy. Only 5% thought tariffs were reducing prices.
  • Deportations. Some 47%—including 88% of Republicans and 14% of Democrats—said “most” or “nearly all” of those deported by the administration should have been deported.
  • Control of Congress. More Americans—53%—would prefer Democrats to control Congress as a check on Trump than want the GOP to stay in charge, the poll found.
  • Presidential authority. Some 62% say Trump has overstepped the limits of his authority, while just over one-third think he’s acted within the limits. Asked the same question about former President Biden, 34% said he went beyond his authority during his time as president and 63% said he didn’t.
  • Trump’s overall mark. The poll found that 56% disapprove of how Trump is handling his job and 43% approve. The Post notes that the -13 rating is slightly improved from -16 in its April poll—but in that poll, unlike the September poll, “no opinion” was an option, which 5% of respondents chose.
  • Political violence. In another poll this week, Americans were in wider agreement. The Reuters/Ipsos poll found that 94% believe the way Americans talk about politics encourages violence. There was also agreement on disagreement: Almost 80% said Americans are less tolerant of opposing viewpoints than they were 20 years ago, with 10% saying people are more tolerant, and 10% saying they are about the same.

Just a snapshot of the country’s feelings at this time…..it could swing in the other direction depending on situations and incidents.

Do you have thoughts on his job rating?

I Hate Redundancy

But sadly that is how you get mental midgets to pay attention…..just keep bombarding them with the facts….some times redundancy is necessary and this is one of those times.

I have tried to explain antifa to the unwashed masses but they7 still keep going on and on about something they know nothing about….so as an FYI I offer these links for people that have an open mind to check out the situation (comments will be very telling I believe)…

This whole affair shows just how badly Donny and his ilk will lie to try and look as if they care….and two it shows just how f*cking gullible his rabid supporters truly` have become.

I see Donny’s favorite authoritarian, Orban, has followed suit……

Hungary will replicate a policy announced Thursday by US President Trump and designate antifa a terrorist organization, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said on Friday. Antifa, short for “anti-fascist,” is an umbrella term for loosely affiliated far-left-activists and groups that resist fascism, fascists, and neo-Nazis, especially at demonstrations. It resembles more an ideology than an organization, though some have embraced militant tactics. Orbán, a right-wing populist and strong Trump ally, said in comments to state radio on Friday that he was “pleased” by Trump’s announcement that he plans to designate antifa as a “major terrorist organization” in the United States, the AP reports.

“Antifa is indeed a terrorist organization,” Orbán said. “In Hungary, too, the time has come for us to classify organizations such as antifa as terrorist organizations, following the American model.” It was unclear what prompted Orbán’s decision to make the move. Antifascist groups rarely engage in political actions in Hungary, where Orbán and his party have held near-total power for more than 15 years. Yet in his statements Friday, Orbán referenced a 2023 incident in which antifascist activists engaged in assaults against several suspected participants in an annual far-right event in Budapest.

One of the alleged assailants, Italian antifascist activist Ilaria Salis, was jailed in Hungary for over a year following the assaults, resulting in a diplomatic dispute between Rome and Budapest over her treatment in detention. Salis was released to house arrest in May 2024 before winning a seat in the European Parliament, as a result of which she gained legal immunity. Hungary continues to demand that she be returned to face trial, where prosecutors have sought an 11-year sentence. Orbán on Friday bemoaned Salis’ release, saying antifa had “come to Hungary and beaten peaceful people in the street, some were beaten half to death, and then they became European members of parliament and from there lecture Hungary on the rule of law.”

Birds of the feather sort of thing.

Here are those organizations that Little Donny puts on his hate list….

Here are the groups Trump has designated as terrorist organizations

You decide.

Donny and his merry band of slugs want to go after progressive donors as well…..saying they are fomenting the hatred….but can he prove that?

High-ranking members of the Trump administration, including Vice President JD Vance and Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller, are accusing certain progressive organizations of encouraging violence against right-wing public figures and suggesting they played a role in Kirk’s death.

Miller, for example, has likened those groups to “a vast domestic terror movement.”

Vance has said the government will “go after the NGO network that foments, facilitates and engages in violence,” in a reference to nonprofits he alleges are supporting illegal activities.

President Donald Trump has blamed Kirk’s death on “a radical left group of lunatics” that doesn’t “play fair.” He has stated that they are “already under major investigation,” although no such probe has been disclosed to date.

Trump has raised the possibility of criminal charges under the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act, known as the
RICO statute, which is typically used to prosecute gangs and organized crime rings.

But, to be clear, the Trump administration has not yet produced evidence to support any of its allegations of wrongdoing by nonprofits and their funders.

Why this urgent need to ‘go after’ his detractors?

President Donald Trump announced in a social media post on Wednesday night that he is “designating ANTIFA, A SICK, DANGEROUS, RADICAL LEFT DISASTER, AS A MAJOR TERRORIST ORGANIZATION.” He made the same declaration in 2020 amid the Black Lives Matter protests against the police killing of George Floyd, with no real effect on the ground.

But Trump’s new declaration came with another, more specific order: “I will also be strongly recommending that those funding ANTIFA be thoroughly investigated in accordance with the highest legal standards and practices.” And that may be the real significance of his decision.

There is no such thing as a domestic terrorist organization list in the United States. When Congress debated the first counterterrorism legislation in the 1990s, the Clinton administration and the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) pushed for sweeping domestic police powers. It was Republicans who opposed those measures at the time because they worried that counterterrorism would be weaponized against the right.

But that did not answer the question….why this urgent need?

This is one opinion….

President Donald Trump is aware that public opinion on him is getting worse and worse by the day — and he’s desperate to consolidate authoritarian control over government — and do things like lock up his political adversaries — before polls get to the point that his underlings stop listening to him, argued former George W. Bush speechwriter David Frum for The Atlantic.

“President Donald Trump is worried that Attorney General Pam Bondi is moving too slowly to prosecute his political adversaries on fake charges,” wrote Frum. “Trump has good reason to be concerned. He is carrying out his project to consolidate authoritarian power against the trend of declining public support for his administration and himself. He is like a man trying to race upward on a downward-moving escalator. If he loses the race, he will be pulled ever deeper below — and the escalator keeps moving faster against him.”
