Canada May Join The US

Before idiots take a victory lap I am speaking of Donny’s new obsession, the Golden Dome defense system….Canada is considering coming in on the deal that Donny is pushing.

Donny has done almost everything to convince Canada to join the union…..and now he has used the rotten apple “Golden Dome” as an incentive hoping fearmongering will do the trick.

Canada’s participation in President Trump’s $175 billion Golden Dome missile defense project will cost the country $61 billion—or nothing, Trump announced Tuesday. As King Charles III told Canada’s Parliament that a “confident Canada” can “give themselves far more than any foreign power can ever take away,” Trump took to Truth Social to note Canada’s role in the project “will cost $61 Billion Dollars if they remain a separate, but unequal, Nation, but will cost ZERO DOLLARS if they become our cherished 51st State.” “They are considering the offer!” he added. In response, the office of Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney said he’d been clear that Canada will remain “an independent, sovereign nation,” per CTV News.

This concept is nothing new…..Reagan was pushing for this but did not have the support he wanted…..

The program has grown from a relatively modest $3 billion a year, back when Ronald Reagan first started talking it up during the 1980s, to over $30 billion a year for “missile defense and defeat programs” today. Since the development of the first interceptors in 1962, the government has spent more than $531 billion on “multiple ineffective missile defense schemes,” according to Stephen Schwartz, a nuclear budget analyst. Over $453 billion of that was spent in failed efforts launched by Reagan in 1983 to fulfill his fantasy of a shield that could “protect us from ballistic missiles just as a roof protects a family from rain.”

All we have to show for the effort is 44 ground-based interceptors in Alaska and California that are so flawed that the Pentagon last year awarded Lockheed Martin an $18 billion contract to build a brand-new replacement system. While missile defenses against short-range rockets, like those Hamas fired into Israel, can be effective, no country has built a system that can reliably shoot down nuclear missiles that travel thousands of miles at many times the speed of sound.

Whether the systems works or not doesn’t matter for the contractors who get rich on contracts to design, develop, and deploy these weapons. That may be why Musk has partnered with two other companies owned by Trump supporters, software maker Palantir and drone builder Anduril, to help design and build the system. Musk’s company estimates that the initial design contracts alone could be worth between $6 billion and 10 billion, according to Reuters.

All this ‘system’ will do for certain is make Musk richer as well as the defense contractors….. “raises concerns about whether defense contracts to build a Golden Dome are an effective way to protect Americans or are meant to enrich Mr. Musk and other elites.”

Another funnel for the defense industry to siphon cash out of this country and into the pockets of the Fat Cat CEOs and possibly Musk and Donny as well.

  1. Idea Canada become part of US absurd. They certainly don’t want the crime and welfare (esp healthcare) and poorly educated added to their milieu nor immigration as will become not immigration from US but mere freely arriving new residents. Should just clear obstacles to diminish existing obfuscations enhancement and remain two separate countries. Our defense arrangements mutual already make us a one nation protocol. .

      1. Our enemies will all focus on AI to manufacture ways to breal right through Golden Dome and it will be obsolete in no time and a waster of time and money and a false sense of security. Trump expressed need for more ships as China building more ships. They are transport ships for products to South America and Africa which are expanding Chinese markets. More ships = more easy targets . Didn’t Mitchell illustrate that in 1920’s ? Next war is space not “over there’ in France with our doughboys.

      2. Space will indeed be the next war….I am still dubious of the whole China thing…..of course I will be writing about it soon. chuq

  2. We don’t need no golden dome defense system … we are all expendible…like hell we are — build the damned thing….before it is too late.

  3. I’m definitelyconnecting those contracts with Musk standing down from DOGE, and leaving the White House. Seems to me as if he used his position to make cuts to justify being awarded huge contracts for the Golden Dome, and also interfered in investigations that protected Tesla and his other companies. He paid for Don to win the election, got what he wanted out of that, and he is now off to pastures new.
    Best wishes, Pete.

    1. He is off to count his newly stolen cash….and dream of the contracts DOGE made possible for him to won. chuq

    1. Egads, I thought I was one of the few people who’d actually seen Zardoz. If you can get over the cheezy 1970s special effects and Sean Connery in that ridiculous red thong, it’s actually an interesting movie. It’s fashionable these days to laugh at it, but at the time it was critically acclaimed.

  4. Russia reportedly has around 5,500 nuclear warheads. That we know of. No missile defense system could handle that kind of saturation bombing.

      1. Yep. Let’s assume this ‘golden dome’ has the same efficiency, about 80%. The best data i’ve been able to find is that Russia has about 1,100 nuclear missiles that could be targeted directly at us, with another 4,000+ warheads in reserve or used for “tactical” nuclear weapons. 20% or so getting through would be 220 nuclear hitting us. Just one, relatively wimpy atomic bomb with a much smaller yield than modern weapons completely destroyed the city of Hiroshima, killing about 150,000 people. One, small bomb.

Modern weapons are ten, twenty, times more powerful. Heck, you can do the math as well as I can. Almost every major population center in the country would be utterly destroyed, the potential death toll would be well over fifty million and could push over 100 million people depending on the targets. And our infrastructure,. manufacturing and agriculture would be utterly decimated.

In actual real world conditions, with Russia presumably using hypersonic missiles which our current technology can’t really defend against at all, in all likelihood far more than 20% would get through any defense system.

Sorry for the lengthy response, but this kind of thing makes me angry. Trump’s administration is trying to pull the same shit Reagan and his people did, using their “Star Wars” program to distract people from the fact their economic policies were bankrupting the country.

      2. No problem on the length….it is great to see a comment in such detail….I agree this whole idea will be ineffective and huge waste of cash just to keep the defense industry happy. chuq

    1. Releasing a dozen or so would contminate entire atmosphere of planet then land and sea. Has no one learned the lessons of Chernobyl and Fukishima contamination for example ? Seems not.

    1. I think not…the defense industry has all the workers it needs and even some have cut jobs….it is an excuse to waste money. chuq

  5. Actually if we are going to grab another country and make them a part of the USA, I would prefer Costa Rica.
