IS Alt Energy The Answer?

I wrote this draft before the idiot won the election…..and Donny has a hard on for alt energy so this may be a moot point I will make.

We are bombarded daily by ads telling us the strives that big business is making to save the environment…..big oil, auto makers, bottlers, etc…..but are these forward looking business just blowing smoke up the consumers ass?

The latest report on CO2 emissions is not a good one (btw it may be the last report we get for at least 4 years)….

The Met Office has issued a dire warning: global warming is accelerating beyond control, pushing Earth off-track from meeting the 1.5°C (2.7°F) target set in the Paris Agreement.

The latest data shows a rapid rise in carbon dioxide (CO2) levels and record-breaking temperatures – raising serious concerns about the future of our planet.

Scientists warn that without immediate and drastic action, we are heading toward a climate crisis that will be difficult to reverse.

The year 2024 officially became the hottest on record, with global average temperatures exceeding 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels for the first time. This milestone highlights the increasing intensity of climate change and the urgent need for action.

But the problem is the energy production…..trying to solve our energy problem we are embracing alt energy…..or are we?

Rising energy costs, unreliable power grids, and climate change continue to exacerbate the global energy crisis and its impact on both businesses and households.

To be sure, electricity access has been improving, the cost of solar energy has dropped by over 80% since 2010, and renewable energy installations have consistently outpaced fossil fuel developments. But even with all that progress, projections signal a rough road ahead for energy usage around the world—one that will continue to impact families struggling to pay bills, industries facing operational disruptions, and economies hindered by resource instability.

One major contributor to the calamity: the world’s reliance on centralized energy grids. Although centralized grids are pivotal to the generation and distribution of energy across many major cities of the world, a lot of these grids are getting old and outdated, overburdened, and ill-equipped to handle the demands of modern economies.

Fortunately, decentralized grids are emerging to help solve that problem. “The rise of decentralized energy solutions, like microgrids, is a direct response to the limitations of traditional grids,” Gil Kroyzer, CEO of Solargik, tells Fast Company. “Unlike centralized systems, decentralized solutions bring energy production closer to the end consumer, improving reliability and reducing infrastructure stress.”

There are no easy answers and kicking the can down the road at every opportunity will do nothing to save the planet.  Plus we have a new admin in DC that hates the environmental oversight and will work tirelessly to overturn any and all progressive we have made as little as it may be.

I am glad I am old and will not see the final destruction of the planet.

Are You Afraid Yet?

Rising prices….I mean Donny told us the $7 a dozen eggs was too low and that gas was also too inexpensive….

That lead me to ask if any of his gang of parasites knows what the rest of us peasants have to contend with daily.

My thought is….NO they have no damn idea….and I am not alone….

Having mega-rich guys run the government invites all kinds of concerns about the potential for corruption, which is certainly a real (and well documented) concern surrounding the Trump administration, given the president’s crypto side hustles, a cabinet stacked with billionaires and the administration’s general lack of regard for the rule of law.

But beneath those lofty questions of ethics lies a more basic problem: These guys are out of touch. Especially with the voters who made clear their No. 1 concern was the cost of living in America.

The world got a peek inside the administration’s gilded bubble Wednesday, when President Donald Trump glibly brushed off concerns about his tariffs leading to bare store shelves and shortages: “Maybe the children will have two dolls instead of 30, you know?” he said at a Cabinet meeting. “And maybe the two dolls will cost a couple of bucks more than they would normally.”

That message of austerity is coming from a golf-club-and-casino mogul who is so obsessed with opulent decor that he reportedly has a “gold guy” slathering finishes on the fixtures and furnishings of the White House, all while spending taxpayer money on regular weekend trips to his private Floridian social club.

The doll comment was notable, too, because it was a rare acknowledgement of a reality the president has long denied: His tariff policies will create shortages and raise prices.

Are you afraid yet?

There are a lot of things these days that we should be afraid of coming for us and our families….but for this post I want to focus on the political landscape that we as Americans are facing.

I am personally afraid of the direction that Little Donny and his gang of moronic thugs are taking my country.  The slide into autocratic rule.

The president of the United States, from the moment he regained the office, has been step-by-step following the autocrat’s playbook. He has gone after universities for not obeying his decrees. He has extorted law firms for having on staff, or just once-upon-a-time having had on staff, people who crossed him. He has targeted for prosecution former aides who challenged him. He has arrested a local judge for not helping him round up migrants for deportation. He has attacked the free press for not bending to his will. On his very first day in office, he released from prison hundreds of domestic terrorists, effectively a personal militia, who assaulted police officers in his name.

And now, not 100 days into his term, he has done what so many democracy advocates have feared he would eventually do, something that no president has dared try in the more than two centuries since Marbury v. Madison’s precedent that the judiciary would be the ultimate authority on what is and what is not legal: He is straight-up defying the United States Supreme Court.

And — here is the truly terrifying part — he is getting away with it. No one is getting fined. No one is going to jail. In fact, much of America doesn’t even realize it’s happening.

The case at hand is nominally about a migrant who came to this country illegally but who for several years now had been raising a family in Maryland and training to be a sheet metal worker. But in reality it is about whether anyone or any institution has any check on Donald Trump’s ability to claim near limitless power over all our lives simply by declaring a national security “emergency.”

For three years, Trump and his apologist echo chamber repeated, over and over, that the flood of migrants coming over the southern border without authorization constituted an “invasion.”

Of course, it was no such thing. However much a person chooses to hate illegal immigration, whether based on a strict, rules-are-rules belief system or a pragmatic concern for the effect on border communities or even straight-up racism, the migrants coming here these past several years did not represent an invading army, regardless of how frequently Stephen Miller and his allies tossed around the phrase “military-aged men.”

His, Little Donny, iron fist rule is going to effect many others….from journalists to personal opinions….we all will be held up to his whims.

If you think you are scared now just think it could much worse.

The sad thing it was foretold what would happen way before the election and yet idiots ignored warnings and gave this person the power he has coveted for years.

Be afraid….be very afraid.

All Hail His Royal Majesty!

Next month we will celebrate Flag Day…..a day that most Americans ignore and still display their patriotic fervor and flag all wrong….but that is not what this post is all about…..it is about wanting to turn the day into a day of worship for Donald the Orange.

A Republican congresswoman has proposed making Donald Trump’s birthday a public holiday, in an effort probably doomed to failure in Congress but obviously intended to curry favor with the president.

Claudia Tenney, a representative from New York’s Finger Lakes region, introduced legislation on Friday aiming to combine the US annual commemoration of Flag Day with a new observance of Trump’s birthday on 14 June, arguing that the president is “the most consequential … in modern American history”.

“His impact on the nation is undeniable,” Tenney said in a news release. On X, she suggested that Trump’s birthday deserved the same treatment as that of George Washington, which is observed annually as a federal holiday on the third Monday of February.

“Just as George Washington’s birthday is codified as a federal holiday, President Trump’s birthday should also be celebrated to recognize him as the founder of America’s Golden Age,” Tenney wrote.

Some of the supporters have to say….

“From brokering the historic Abraham Accords to championing the largest tax relief package in American history, his impact on the nation is undeniable,” Rep. Tenney said in a press release. “Just as George Washington’s birthday is codified as a federal holiday, this bill will add Trump’s birthday to this list, recognizing him as the founder of America’s golden age.”

“Additionally, as our nation prepares to celebrate its 250th anniversary, we should create a new federal holiday honoring the American flag and all that it represents,” Rep. Tenney continued. “By designating Trump’s birthday and Flag Day as a federal holiday, we can ensure President Trump’s contributions to American greatness and the importance of the American Flag are forever enshrined into law.”

I think I will be ill.

The federal government recognizes 11 annual federal holidays: New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents’ Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.

Juneteenth was the most recent addition, established by Congress in 2021

Is this a not so subtle way to try and rid the calendar of holidays of the Juneteenth?

Let’s not forget the military style parade he wants for his birthday, 14 June….

Detailed Army plans for a potential military parade on President Trump’s birthday in June call for more than 6,600 soldiers, at least 150 vehicles, 50 helicopters, seven bands, and possibly a couple thousand civilians, the AP has learned. The planning documents, obtained by the AP, are dated April 29 and 30 and have not been publicly released. They represent the Army’s most recent blueprint for its long-planned 250th birthday festival on the National Mall (which happens to fall on June 14, Trump’s 79th birthday) and the newly added element—a large military parade that Trump has long wanted but is still being discussed. While the slides do not include any price estimates, it would likely cost tens of millions of dollars to put on a parade of that size.

Costs would include the movement of military vehicles, equipment, aircraft, and troops from across the country to Washington and the need to feed and house thousands of service members. High costs halted Trump’s push for a parade in his first term, and the tanks and other heavy vehicles that are part of the Army’s latest plans have raised concerns from city officials about damage to roads. Asked about plans for a parade, Army spokesman Steve Warren said Thursday that no final decisions have been made. Col. Dave Butler, another Army spokesman, added that the Army is excited about the plans for the birthday festival.

“We want to make it into an event that the entire nation can celebrate with us,” said Butler. “We want Americans to know their Army and their soldiers. A parade might become part of that, and we think that will be an excellent addition to what we already have planned.” Others familiar with the documents, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the plans have not been finalized, said they represent the Army’s plans as it prepares for any White House approval of the parade. The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment. There has been no formal approval yet. Changes to the plans have been made in recent weeks and more are likely.

I read somewhere awhile back the estimated cost of this wasteful spectacle would be in the neighborhood of $92 million.

Would you consider that money well spent?

Right now there does not seem to be much enthusiasm from Congress to rush to deify this troll.

Besides all the other presidents that have been so honored are dead….

Lame ass idea from a do-nothing Congress.
