I only vaguely remembered this, something I read about someone who served with the Union in the Civil War, then later became a politician involved in a duel with an ex-Confederate? I looked him up, and found the name. But it’s a ‘cheat’, so I won’t publish it here. Hint: A German name. 🙂

Yes it was Goebel….some would answer Huey Long but he was not a governor when assassinated…he was running against FDR and that is whole other post. I truly appreciate your participation……chuq

I found Governor Goebel of Kentucky was assassinated on 1900. Interested reading about the shooting.. .Thanks for going easy on us today.
