Closing Thought–20Dec19

My my how times change…….

Just take Senator Lindsey Graham…..his undying support for the president was not so much back in 1998 and the impeachment of Bill Clinton…..

Now is the time to stop telling the American people that it is for them that these people pretend to care……it is all about the Party and the ideology of stupid.

But just listen to Graham in his own words…..

Just goes to show just how “principles” are in short supply in our nation’s capital and our Congress.

When will these old farts realize that everything they say is now on line and can be used…..

If anyone thought this would be a fair trial in the Senate then you would be mistaken….this is going to be a replay of the Clinton impeachment…..another circus to go down in history.

I thought is if nothing was done then let there be testimony….but so far that is not happening…so in my mind there is something to hide by the president.

I have always stated that I thought that politicians were our biggest hypocrites….nice to be proven right….every now and then.

  1. One current trend here is to try to get Corbyn to stay on as leader of The Labour Party.
Politics is in a total mess everywhere, that’s for sure.
    Best wishes, Pete.

  2. In respectful reference to: “If anyone thought this would be a fair trial in the Senate then you would be mistaken.” —– If anyone thought the crap that went on in the House of Reps to bring us to this point was anywhere near fair, they would be just as much mistaken.”

  3. Efforts to make the House investigation more fair were thwarted by the President when he told key first hand witnesses not to respond to House subpoenas and various government sources of documentation to do the same. It is disingenuous for the Republicans (and John) to suggest there was unfairness in the process when the President did everything he could to obstruct the process. I guess Fox didn’t tell the minions about that.

      1. Exactly. Of course, Trump is so self absorbed he doesn’t understand how we see these things. The recent editorial in Christianity Today gives me a little hope that there is some reason coming back to the Evangelical support he has. I never understood how they could rationalize their support,m though I do understand they mostly wanted a packing of the courts with the sorts of unqualified and otherwise ultra conservative people McConnell has managed to get through the confirmation process. (Were Roe v. Wade overturned, I suspect the increase in back alley abortion-related deaths would be OK with them. And, of course, same with all the children born into poor circumstances like military families on SNAP benefits.)

      2. His attacks on Christians that do not agree with him is just something we are use to….this slug has the thinnest skin of all politicians. chuq

      1. Perhaps chuq can edit that out of the comment. Not to worry, it’s clear I’m not allowed to comment freely on what you post, so will ignore anything you’ve posted from now on. Excuse me for my insensitivity and may you have a Blessed Christmas and a prosperous New Year, John! While chuq is at it, he can delete this response to you, too.

      2. Everyone is allowed to comment……not to worry…..I delete nothing except the really vulgar……you may say whatever you like here…..and I am sorry that you have taken offense…..your idea is the best……have a good season…..chuq

      3. I wouldn’t mind if you deleted it, chuq. Frankly, were it possible for me to delete it, I would have since John did take offense. I deleted my “follow” to his blog some time back when I found his political commentaries too extreme for me. The nonpolitical content was always interesting, amusing, worth a read, so I stewed about dropping it for a long time before I did it.
