Trump–Virgin No More

I wrote about these US military deaths the other day and NO one even noticed….that is truly sad…..

Recently a US military action in Yemen was the first under Trump administration…..until this raid Trump was a virgin to calling for an armed response……it was a raid and it was a disaster……

The first American military raid of the Trump administration wasn’t a complete failure, but “almost everything went wrong,” a senior military official tells NBC News. The Sunday raid in Yemen, which the president approved last week, left dozens of people dead, including two Americans: a service member identified Monday as Chief Special Warfare Operator William “Ryan” Owens, 36, and Nora al-Awlaki, the 8-year-old daughter of radical US-born preacher Anwar al-Awlaki. Her father was killed in a US drone strike in 2011 and her 16-year-old brother died in a 2013 strike. Officials tell the New York Times that the raid had been in the works for months, but the Obama administration handed final approval over to President Trump.

Owens, a Navy SEAL from Peoria, Ill., died after being wounded during the raid on an al-Qaeda-held village, the Washington Post reports. Another three members of his unit were hurt during the firefight, and three more were injured, one severely, when their MV-22 Osprey aircraft had a “hard landing” at the site. Pentagon officials say three al-Qaeda leaders were among 14 fighters killed during the raid. Medics say at least 30 people died at the scene, including women and children. Nora al-Awlaki’s grandfather, former Yemeni Agriculture Minister Nasser al-Awlaki, claims the true number is closer to 60. Nora “was hit with a bullet in her neck and suffered for two hours,” he tells Reuters. “Why kill children?”

Not only did we lose some very brave soldiers but we also set about killing children…..

I truly hope that this was not a vision of what our troops have to look forward to with this administration….

  1. All Trump Administration did was carry through on a disaster in the making created by the Obama Administration and any insinuation of wrong doing on the part of Trump is misguided, unfair and wrong.

    1. No, I’d say the glass is half full of chocolate milk and half full of orange juice. The important part is the “continuity”, as they say. Supposedly “polar opposite” Presidents literally practising the very same policy, as if there’s only one policy allowed….indiscriminate death & destruction. Long live the US Empire!

The results? Even more barely noticed deaths that will achieve nothing in the long run. (Well, except for more profits for MISC Industries.) And the ONLY reason this was given any attention is that two American citizens got killed, one of which was from the ultra-dangerous demographic, 8 year old girls.

      I feel safer already.

      1. Sometimes, I can be a tad cryptic. (Often, just to shorten the length of my comments. See: below)

My main point is that the acceptable range of options in US foreign policy has shrunk to almost nothing. Foreign policy differences between Presidents are more like “margin of errors” now. The Deep State pretty much gets what it wants from the hand puppets the drooling electorate sends them. The War on Terra is now on its 3rd President with no signs of anything changing.

First, you had Bush2 indiscriminately spying, torturing & killing with little to show for it. (Well, other than hatred & global distrust.) Then you had hippie peace-nick Obama who was going to end all the wars, stop torturing, close Gitmo, etc. He did none of the above. He expanded the (undeclared) warfare to even more countries, normalized spying and killed more motherfuckers “extra-judicially” with drones than Bush did. Results? Nada to arguably worse. Now you’ve got the biggest rule-breaking, outsider, ever and…it’s looking like we can expect more of the same from Trump. Huzzah! Despite seeking to undo everything Obama ever did, Trump okayed an Obama-approved mission that killed many non-combatants (including an 8 year old American girl) in a nation America isn’t even at war with. It’s yet another mockery of the US Constitution and a giant dump on the rest of the world.

In short, we have 3 very different Presidents from 2.5 different parties and yet…more of the same ineffectual bullshit that’s more likely to generate blow-back than improve anything.

A second early example of foreign policy “continuity” within the context of Trump’s “radical change” is the travel/immigration ban. Sure, lots of Muslims won’t be able book flights to America, spend what little money they have checking out America’s tourist attractions and, of course, murder every single American. That’s a real bummer for them.

But the important part is the continuation of special treatment for nations who are “with the program”. Where was the ban on Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Afghanistan; arguably the most radical, violent, terrorist-supporting Muslim populations of all? Nope, they’re our “friends”. (With friends like that..etc) Even though there’s probably more justification for banning them than the ones that got banned, doing so would make the US establishment “uncomfortable”. As if to make this point crystal clear; post-military-coup Egypt, post-military-coup Turkey, the United Arab Emirates & Jordan…well…”C’mon down! You are the recipients of some serious hypocritical favouritism. Your people can continue to come & go, or stay for good.”

It don’t matter if you ain’t a democracy. It don’t matter if you share any of our values. It don’t even matter if you’re Muslims…All that matters is your government’s loyalty to the American Empire. This fact may escape Us, but I doubt it escapes Them.

      2. That is the question…..Trump has/had business deals in Saudi and Egypt that could explain part of it….we never get a change….only in tone never in substance….chuq

  2. Whatever happened to Obama’s promise to get out of there? We have troops on their 4th and 5th tours – and then people wonder why so many of them come back with PTSD. Are we expected to continue to have children just so they can go fight overseas?

  3. After considering all I just read, & trying to pick out something worth commenting upon, all I can come to goes all the way back to the basic cultural human flaw we are witnessing in every issue in the public venue, to wit: this human culture is based upon delusions. Not just one, but a number of them, all of which train people to have a tenuous grip on what is real, and what is right (for how can one know right if there is no direction at all?….). In short, this species is insane, and doesn’t even have a basic clue of their own insanity; they believe they actually have a firm grip on reality,, which is just as effective as gripping a cone of cotton candy…. messy, sticky, & ultimately just more poison for the system….

But, people still believe what they want to believe, not what is true; they believe sugar is good for them, for example, when, in fact, it is one of the worst poisons we can consume, in terms of its long term effects on the health of our bodies. But, it tastes so good, they won’t give it up… Same thing with their beliefs in religion, and money, and government, all of which degrade the human spirit, regardless of how much people may feel them to be necessary. Reality proves otherwise….
