Bernie-crats–A Do Over?

It is all but official that one Hillary Clinton will become the nominee for the Democratic Party (to the chagrin of many)…..we are only waiting for the convention for the official tally.

The big story is that there is some concern that many of the Bernie-crats will not support the Dems nominee…..plus the media is waiting for official word that Bernie will endorse Clinton…..but what if he does not choose to do so…..is there another possibility that could unfold?

You bet your ass there is…….

Bernie Sanders has been invited to continue his underdog bid for the White House by the Green party’s probable presidential candidate, who has offered to step aside to let him run.

Jill Stein, who is expected to be endorsed at the party’s August convention in Houston, told Guardian US that “overwhelming” numbers of Sanders supporters are flocking to the Greens rather than Hillary Clinton.

Stein insisted that her presidential bid has a viable “near term goal” of reaching 15% in national polling, which would enable her to stand alongside presumptive nominees Clinton and Donald Trump in televised election debates.

I will offer my take on this……I think that Bernie will turn down the invitation….he wants to protect the democrats as best he can…..he may not like the system but he is a cog in that system.

America And The Immigrants

For a decade this country has been having a debate about those illegal aliens streaming (their words not mine) across the border and stealing jobs and getting a free ride on the welfare gravy train…….one of the deals to help this situation is that these immigrants could join the military and if they serve honorably then they will be fast tracked to the citizenship thing….

Personally, I think it is a good idea….but beyond that how has this program worked out for the immigrants?

Countless foreign-born US veterans were deported after the federal government failed to assist in their naturalisation process, a new report by the American Civil Liberties Union said.

According to the report, many of the soldiers, whose service dated back to the Vietnam War, were deported after facing charges for minor misdemeanors – which can be deportable offences – and courts were not allowed to consider military service.

“By requiring deportation and stripping immigration courts of the power to consider military service, the United States government abandons these veterans by expelling them to foreign countries at the moment when they most need the government’s help to rehabilitate their lives after service,” Bardis Vakili, a senior staff attorney with the ACLU of California, said in a press release. “This is a tragic and disgraceful example of how broken our immigration system is.”

So was this a con job or an oversight?

A program more devious than the draft……another governmental lie to achieve an end……

Enough Noise….What Went Wrong?

Now that the Brits have issued their Chilcot Report on Iraq the normal demonizations have begun again…..but as one of my readers has pointed out….we all are well aware that the Iraq invasion was based solely on lies and accusations….not facts and reality….and as usual the media is NOT held responsible for selling the lies to war….not in the US and nor in the UK…….

We can blame anyone we want for it really does not matter why we did it…..we did do it….they question should be….what went so horribly wrong?

Denunciations of Tony Blair as the evil architect of Britain’s involvement in the Iraq War often dominate discussions of what happened there and many will look to the Chilcot inquiry to provide further evidence of his guilt. But the demonisation of Mr Blair is excessive and simple-minded and diverts attention from what really happened in Iraq and how such mistakes can be avoided in future.

He may have unwisely followed the US into the quagmire of Iraq, but British government policy since 1941 has been to position itself as America’s most loyal and effective ally in peace and war.

Times They Are A Changing

It is the 21st century and women are making great strides in political spheres……many Western countries now have women as the leader….the US may soon elect its first woman president since its inception….the UK was the first western county to elect a women PM and many have since done the same…..Germany has a strong women leader……I believe Croatia has a woman leader (please do not quote me)…..

Looks liker this year will the year of the woman politician……

Margaret Thatcher was the first, but she’ll no longer be the only female prime minister the UK has ever had. Michael Gove has been eliminated from the ballot to become the next Conservative Party leader, leaving Theresa May and Andrea Leadsom as the final two candidates. The winner will become the UK’s next prime minister, the BBC reports. Home Affairs Secretary May (a Remain supporter) led the most recent round of voting Thursday with 199 votes, followed by Energy Minister Leadsom (a Brexit supporter) with 84 and Gove with 46. Conservative MPs will decide on a winner, who will take over the job from David Cameron on Sept. 9, the Washington Post reports.

We will see just how effective these countries become…..the world will be watching….

Hillary’s Hawkishness Begins

I realize that most Hillary supporters have already made up their minds and very little will change their thinking or support….all I attempt is the let these people know who they are supporting beyond the vague slogans and campaign promises……there is more to the job she seeks than one liners and applause………….

I am sorry but I do believe that her policies and stands are more dangerous, in most cases, than Trump’s……

It’s no secret that Hillary Clinton favors a hawkish foreign policy. Her views seem out of step with the more dovish preferences of most rank-and-file members of the Democratic Party. And although there were many factors that led to the surprisingly strong challenge from Sen. Bernie Sanders during the primary, discontent among his supporters—especially his young supporters—about Clinton’s fondness for military force was high on the list of grievances. Antiwar Democrats recalled all too well that she supported George W. Bush’s disastrous military crusade in Iraq and retracted that approval only when it became obvious that the mission had unleashed catastrophic instability in the heart of the Middle East.

Concerns about Clinton’s hawkish inclinations are not merely confined to the Democratic left. Various experts have commented on them with more than a little concern. Some even regard her foreign policy track record and views as more dangerous than one could expect from the volatile Donald Trump.
