For a decade this country has been having a debate about those illegal aliens streaming (their words not mine) across the border and stealing jobs and getting a free ride on the welfare gravy train…….one of the deals to help this situation is that these immigrants could join the military and if they serve honorably then they will be fast tracked to the citizenship thing….
Personally, I think it is a good idea….but beyond that how has this program worked out for the immigrants?
Countless foreign-born US veterans were deported after the federal government failed to assist in their naturalisation process, a new report by the American Civil Liberties Union said.
According to the report, many of the soldiers, whose service dated back to the Vietnam War, were deported after facing charges for minor misdemeanors – which can be deportable offences – and courts were not allowed to consider military service.
“By requiring deportation and stripping immigration courts of the power to consider military service, the United States government abandons these veterans by expelling them to foreign countries at the moment when they most need the government’s help to rehabilitate their lives after service,” Bardis Vakili, a senior staff attorney with the ACLU of California, said in a press release. “This is a tragic and disgraceful example of how broken our immigration system is.”

Personally, I think it’s a very bad idea to hand a gun to somebody who just arrived at your party. “Here’s some whisky and an AR15. If you’re hungry, wrap some bacon around the barrel and shoot at something until it’s cooked. This is how America rolls, yeeehah!” I’d rather see new arrivals work the night shift at urban hospitals, or at food banks, or something that doesn’t involve killing.
But with regards to the story…Yet another lie. Yet another bait & switch. Yet another way to trim pennies off the veterans’ budget while running trillion dollar wars. Yet another excuse to be racist. But never mind the rest, just being deported for a misdemeanour is a complete waste of resources that achieves nothing.
Wait! Didn’t Cruz fry some bacon on the barrel of 15 in a campaign ad?
These people were given a chance to gain their citizenship by serving and then to fuck them like this just makes the case for all the bad shit people say about this country.
Yes, I got the idea from fellow Canuck, immigrant (deportee shurely?) Ted Cruz’s ad.
But yeah. It’s not as if those deported vets put their life on the line for the Empire, or anything. That’s exactly the kind of move a Great Satan makes. Shit, even the (openly) fascist America in Starship Troopers fulfilled their promises of citizenship for those willing to battle the giant, intergalactic, bugs. This America? Not so much.
