The US-Russia Info-War: What’s Real?

If one spends any time researching the situations in the international stage the articles will inevitably turn to the confrontations between the US and Russia……each side is claiming something of the other….some say the US and NATO are attempting to encircle Russia with all the troops being deployed around the world especially in Eastern Europe and Central Asia…..and others are claiming that Russia is pushing the limits of acceptable behavior trying to prompt NATO into overreacting……

But what is the true situation?  Is most of this back and forth just propaganda from the debating sides?

The Obama administration is dangling the possibility of real peace progress in Ukraine to convince the Europeans to renew sanctions on Russia, but is that just a bait-and-switch trick to keep Europe in line, asks Gilbert Doctorow.

The ongoing information war between Russia and the U.S.-led West creates moments that are paradoxical if not downright confusing. But confusion may be the prime objective of both sides, following the old maxim: if you cannot convince, confuse. But confusion can be dangerous, too.

This week, National Security Adviser Susan Rice expressed hope that the Ukraine crisis could be resolved by the time President Barack Obama leaves office on Jan. 20, 2017, citing redoubled efforts by U.S., French and German officials to complete implementation of the Minsk-2 agreement signed in February 2015.

I think the question of what is true and what isn’t in today’s world, whether in the US vs. Russia arena, or wider arena of the world, can best be understood if one realizes the words of Sun Tzu, long ago, set the rules for all conflict when he made one observation, upon which all his other ideas revolve, to wit: “All War is deception.”

    The governments of the world, at the behest of those oligarchs and predators who control the money, are at war, whether declared or not. Regardless of what is said, this is true, so every word said, every phrase neatly turned, or badly delivered, is a deception, even when it may tell the truth, for it would be a truth told for a purpose of deception, or blame, such as exposing the evil of an opponent (think, elections)

    The actual war is the war for the human mind, and, sadly, that war was lost long ago. Too many people do not have the capability of even recognizing the truth when it is told, for the power of critical thinking is discouraged from birth to death….

    So, yes, they’re lying. All of them. It’s what they do….The only truth to be found is told by those who have no stake in the outcome of any of it, and they are few, and far between.

  5. We may never know whether this is propaganda or not until somebody pushes a button somewhere and a few million people disappear in a ball of fire. This has been going on ever since I can remember to one degree or another.
