I remember the days when Japan was our chief adversary because they were buying up America…..then slowly it became China…..and now the war hawks are determined that this should be the dialog these days….oh yeah…they still want terrorism stopped….but the big deals are made with the trade agreements that lets the M-IC throw weapons around like Mardi Gras beads.
Then there is the dialog that gives us a dangerous China especially for their actions in the South China Sea……Think Tanks are spreading white papers around like peanut butter……helping the M-IC make the case for more weapon systems to our “allies”…..

I have long held the notion that someday there will be a Russo-Chinese alliance that will engage India first and then the rest of the world in an aggressively expansionist mode.
India is getting closer to Russia….do not think that will ever happen with China….
Is China really that dangerous? I would ask the residents of Nanking what they think of that one.
I would say the japanese are more so.
Especially now that they can expand their military beyond self-defense…

America is the most dangerous country on Earth. It’s got the most powerful military and it’s barking mad from top to bottom! Not much beats that combo.
That said, China is a serious force in every measurable way. More importantly, it has already outsmarted America and has quietly delivering body blow after body blow for decades.
It has turned South China Sea into a confrontation….smart move….geopolitically.
