Since my interests in politics began I have heard what harm things can do to the economy…..from civil rights to voting rights to women’s rights…….all the monumental changes in our society have been followed by predictions of doom…….
Great moments in American history have been predicted as the fall of the country or at least would collapse the economy…..some of these I can remember as actual talking points….yep, I am that old!
The country we remember as “America” is something that happened a long time ago and not much of it remains anymore. I think globalization has changed the American paradigm; I think the flux of the world’s populations has insured a new, more integrated and more complex Democratic Republic on these shores and we may have already grown and changed to the point where this gigantic political mess is no longer governable by traditional or expected means.
You may be right….and most Americans are afraid of change so we will have to twaddle along with this mess until it is finally changed….
