We all know what some people think about Obama and the Dems….they are all about spending cash….they are Big Spenders….Am I right?
We also know, why because we are beat about the head with it everyday, that the deficit is the highest it has been in centuries….am I right?
I know that the big spender tag and the so-called growing deficit are great campaign slogans and bumper stickers…….but the next time you hear such drivel ask one simple question……
If the prez is such a spender, how can we explain this turn of the screw?
The federal budget deficit for fiscal 2013 has plunged by more than $400 billion, the biggest drop since the end of World War II, the Treasury Department says. It comes in at $680 billion—not exactly pocket change, but a lot better than the trillion-plus deficits of the last five years. The deficit is now at its smallest level since 2008, and while growing tax revenues from the healthier economy account for most of the drops, budget cuts and tax rises also helped, the New York Times reports. Revenue jumped by $324 billion to $2.8 trillion, the Treasury says, while government spending edged up to $3.9 trillion from $3.8 trillion. “Thanks to the tenacity of the American people and the determination of the private sector we are moving in the right direction,” says Treasury Secretary Jacob Lew. “The United States has recovered faster than any other advanced economy, and our deficit today is less than half of what it was when President Obama first took office.” The Senate Budget Committee says the outlook for future deficit reduction is good, with an estimated reduction of $3.3 trillion over the next decade because of the cuts and tax rises that came from the fiscal-cliff battles, the Washington Post finds.
I realize the truth hurts….but sometime in history one must let go of BS and return to reality…..but how long will it shrink if we keep giving away billions every time there is a situation that we get nervous about…….throw money at it and it will go away…..just like the surplus we had back in the day……our politicians will find a way to solve that problem…..

Every word in this post by “In Saner Thought” is true but try to tell any of it to some of the radical right wads who keep on telling whoever will listen – (and thank God it is very few who will listen to their crap) – that Obama’s Plan For Destroying America Is Working. It is not Obama who is working on destroying America folks! It is not The President who keeps the government in such a state of gridlock that it can’t function. No it is not the President doing these destructive things, it is the god d****d right wing and their radicals doing the damage to the country. Here we are watching the radical right steal food stamps out of the mouths of needy children and screaming about how much money this president spends and how “Broke” the American Economy is and in the same breath they work up a Billion-Dollar “Loan” to Ukraine? Where in the Hell are they getting the money to give a billion dollar loan to Ukraine? I’ll tell you where! They are going to either borrow it from China or they are going to try to take it out of the hides of the poor and the middle class and once they have done it – (If they are allowed to do it) – they will go right back to screaming their filthy lies about what a big spender the president is and how it is his agenda that is “Destroying” America.
What an idiotic bunch of jerks some of them can be sometimes . . . make that all the time!
We need to unload all the rightist baggage we can in 2016.
They might make a power play in 2014 and take back the Senate and all that, but in 2016 we need to get to those polls and vote as much of this political destructiveness out of office as is humanly possible.
And in the meantime, we need to tell the radical right wing where to put it’s propaganda bullshit and the place I suggest they put is “where the sun don’t shine” and that is just me trying to be nice and trying to avoid the suggestion they stuff it up their collective rear ends.
Just because the horse is dead doesn’t mean you’re obligated to quit beating it. 😉

A while back I was sick and had a temperature of 102. I went to see a doctor who swore he could fix me up. He administered a bunch of medicines and “fixes” and my temperature went to 104.7 … it was bad. After about a week my fever finally fell to 103 and the doctor said, “See, you’re getting better!”

As Thom Hartmann points out in “We the people: A call to take Back America (2004)”, creating deficits by declaring wars and increasing military spending has been a deliberate strategy to strangle government’s ability to provide a social welfare safety net and protect the commons from corporate control. The Reagan years were the beginning of an all out assault to cut taxes for the wealthiest and increase military spending to cripple the power of government to protect people and resources.
