I guess it is no secret that my conserv friends think I am a Liberal…..I am more than that because to me a liberal is just a conserv that has been arrested….I am progressive meaning I want the country and government to progress forward to the future….and yes I am a radical….meaning I want real change to improve the country, not this willy nilly reform that we have had for the last 50 years…….but for some reason when I mention guns or the 2nd amendment all my friends get their conserv hackles up and tell me about how much safer the country with guns, or how much crime rate falls with the ownership of guns, or how it will be unconstitutional for any messing with gun laws……
Okay let me be clear! Even though I am on the Left politically….I have NO problem with gun ownership and I in NO way condone the “take my guns away” laws that some see lurking everywhere….In fact I have guns….blackpowder, shotgun and a pistol….I hunt but prefer bow hunting to guns…..so please believe me that I do NOT want to take your beloved guns away and would not support any action to do so….
I do have a problem with assault weapons and extended magazines…….there is NO need for either! And NO one needs 20 or 30 weapons….if they are for a collection then lead the barrels and hang them on the wall!
I mean if one wants such for “home protection” and needs multiple bullets to get the job done…… then I suggest that if they are that bad of a shot to spend a little cash and get a shotgun….you get more coverage for the bang. And if one would use such to hunt then I also suggest the local supermarket and save themselves the aggravation of trying to bag the game.
There is NO logical need for assault weapons and extended magazines in society…..if one feels that they cannot exist without these weapons then I have another suggestion…and if one wants to play Rambo…..JOIN THE MILITARY and live out your perverted fantasy.

If liberals are in power we lose our guns, we get forced abortions, gasoline will be $500 a gallon, and we become a full scale Islamic nation…well A gay Islamic nation according to some.
If conservatives are in power, Sex becomes a criminal offense for minority’s, We all convert to fundamentalist christianity at gun point with forced prayer in school, and we all are forced to work in the glacier mines to shrink them faster. And guns are handed out door to door for protection from Mexicans

How about working on some American unity, getting us some jobs. Lets plan factories that produce condoms and ammunition, and integrate the staff with Dems and Repubs. Lets plan a warehouse where both bibles and korans are printed and once again integrate the staff. I know, I know, its all very silly, But the state of our nation and the world at large is VERY silly right now anyway.

You claim to support the Second Amendment, yet make the argument that it should be limited so as to exclude assault weapons and extended magazines. It seems to me your view isn’t much different from most on the Left.
Why should assault weapons be illegal? Can you think of a single good reason? Most gun violence is committed with handguns, not rifles, automatic or otherwise. You’re not going to find very many criminals meander into a convenience store with an AK47.
Liberals never seem to realize that restrictions don’t bother criminals, because criminals can get these weapons on the street if they so desire. If I had enough money I could obtain an AK47 tonight! The ATF just busted a local illegal weapons ring a few years back. But others clearly exist, so these restrictions harm only law-abiding citizens.
And the idea that I should lead the barrels pisses me off, as well. I am a collector of WWII era weapons. The Thompson is my favorite gun of all time, but I can’t get a real one without paying the government an extreme amount of money. That’s B.S. I shouldn’t have to lead the barrel; I’m not a damn criminal. Part of the joy of having these type of weapons is being able to say, “Yeah, I’ve fired one before!” I’m not a damn criminal. Why should my rights be limited? Why should the rights of law-abiding citizens be limited? Easy answers: They shouldn’t be. And what other amendments are we NRA nuts not respecting? The Constitution is treated like a buffet by leftists, not conservatives. We respect the Constitution – entirely.
So my distaste for assault weapons and extended magazines precludes me from supporting the 2nd…..I know I know guns don’t kill people do….,why do you need a Ak or a magazine with 33 rounds? If they are truly collectors items then hang them on the wall and charge admission…..it is a cope out…and why do you want to put words in my mouth? I never said that you NRA nuts (your words not mine) were not respecting other amendments…I said that we all need to watch our other rights….is that a Leftist position? The answer to your first question is a resounding “yes.” There is no good reason to prohibit these items. Your dislike is not a reason – and misguided.
For some collectors, most of the joy is derived from firing the weapon, which is sorta difficult when the barrel is leaded.
These type of weapons are what your idol Che used to launch his revolution. Might have been to counter Batista’s corruption with mere muskets. They needed weapons to rival the military. In this day and age, with liberalism run amok – totally destroying this country – American citizens might just launch that revolution you want, Lobotero, and they’ll need the appropriate tools to do it. And that’s where gun control legislation comes from: liberal fear that the citizens will no longer put up with the destruction, the diminution, of America —- at the hands of latte-sippin’, pick-pocketin’ liberal commies………Or, so some, not necessarily me, believe. 🙂
There is nothing misguided about my opinion…..again you are assuming a like….and why is it when I mention some things that I see are not needed I immediately want to take your guns from you? This is the type of stuff that keeps this country divided…..the revolution was a military action not some Joe wanting an extended mag to ‘protect’ his home….if one wants to collect then by all means do….when I returned from Vietnam I had to lead the barrel of the AK I brought back..
And your desire for them is no reason to keep them.
Unless you can offer a good reason to ban them, then the desire of the people to have them is more than good enough.
