2012 Anal-Ocity #8

Don’t look now but it is gonna be a helluva year for anal statements…..especially because of the election there will be many  many statements that will be walked back…..

On the day after winning his victory in Florida, Mitt Romney was being interviewed by NBC News and when he was asked about the condition of the country and the economy he replied…….

“I am not worried about the poor for they have a safety net……”

Would that safety net be such programs as Medicaid welfare and food stamps?  And are not those the programs that his party hates so much and tries to destroy at every move?

I realize that Mitt was probably speaking his mind and the the media will make hay out of his statement…..but Mitt and all others need to remember that in the 24 hour news cycle, everything they say will be taken out of context and used against them at every turn….you can bet your butt Mitt will live to regret that he said that about the poor…..

Some Voters Never Learn

From the “Can’t Fix Stupid” File!

Votes are counted in the Penis Primary and Mitt takes it with Newt a distant 2nd……..now please move on the world is turning the screws to millions of people and you rather listen to a person with NO ideas but knows the words to “America The Beautiful”…..was that his attempt to show that he is presidential?

I seldom post on the goings on in my state of Mississippi….mainly because I do not think that many readers give a Hell about the state and second, it is really hard for me to write about the state and its voters without using words like stupid….moronic….uninformed…..on and on.  Then there comes a time when I feel obligated to post on the politics in the state to help illustrate what happens when voters NEVER learn from the vote…..

Recently we voters in Mississippi elected a Repub, Phil Bryant the LT Governor to Halley Barbour and as usual he ran on a hyper conserv platform of anti-abortion, pro religion, tax cuts and education and slimming down government and of course….JOBS…..after the election I realized that this type of platform is the same platform that just about every Repub candidate has run on since the mid 80’s…….

I checked back in my scrapbook from my days of letters to the editor and such and found that in 1987 we elected Ray Mabus as governor and his platform was tax cuts, education and jobs……and in the years that followed nothing has changed……there are few jobs in Mississippi, the educational system has gotten worse and the tax cuts have created NOTHING but a wider divide between the rich and the poor…..

As I keep asking my readers, check out the stats…..Mississippi continues and is always at the very bottom of very “Best” list and the top of every “Worst” list….the people can thank themselves for being the most uninformed voters in the land…..and unfortunately, I see NO change in the foreseeable future.

Mississippians seem to always fall for the crap spread by their Repub leaders….the old political axiom of “tell them what they want to hear, not what they need to hear” is a winning combination, at least in the state that desperately needs new and better leadership……but unfortunately the state is so uninformed that it will never claw its way into the 21st century…..

My favorite quote….”Can’t fix stupid”…..and it is more accurate in some than in others…….

NOTE:  Watch for my breakdown of the issues that the Mississippi Legislature will be addressing….I call it the Good, the Bad and the Ugly….hopefully I will be doing them monthly……should be fun, if not irritating!
