First, I would like to thank Jon Stewart of the Daily Show for this great title….
Sad that this subject has to be covered yet again……
A lot of stuff pisses me off, but the most angered I get is when someone makes the comment that Obama is somehow a secret socialist……from the Tea baggers to Fox News to CPAC…the prez has been likened to a socialist in Dem clothing…he has been likened to Stalin, Lenin and other Red notables….but does any one of these people realize what a socialist is?
Okay he is a socialist…which type? Marxist, Communist, Democratic Socialist or Social Democrat–just which one is he? They do NOT know because they have no idea what they are talking about…it is just a slogan…just hate and name calling……there is NO truth to it…it denies reality…..according to wiki:
Socialism refers to the various theories of economic organization advocating either public or direct worker ownership and administration of the means of production and allocation of resources. A more comprehensive definition of socialism is an economic system that has transcended commodity production and wage labor, where economic activity is carried out to maximize use-value as opposed to exchange-value and thus a corresponding change in social and economic relations, including the organization of economic institutions and resource allocation; based on economic rationalization to overcome anarchy of production in order to further advance the economy toward superabundance, often implying advocacy for a method of compensation based on the amount of labor expended.
Most socialists share the view that capitalism unfairly concentrates power and wealth among a small segment of society that controls capital and derives its wealth through exploitation, creates an unequal society, does not provide equal opportunities for everyone to maximise their potential and does not utilise technology and resources to their maximum potential nor in the interests of the public.
Read it again….and again……and yet again….get it through your thick head that Obama is NO socialist…..
A summarization of socialism……government takes from capital and gives to the people……let’s try that again…..government takes from capital and gives to the people…is that simple enough? Can you grasp the idea?
Obama and his cronies through the stim plan has taken from the people and given to capital…once more….Obama has taken from the people and given to capital……
If Pres. Obama is a socialist then he is a ….DYSLEXIC SOCIALIST! (you do know what dyslexic means, right?)
Please stop using that analogy….you look like a complete political moron every time you use it……if you can not be accurate then please keep your pie hole shut…if you are idiot enough to listen and believe this garbage then I have some land in Florida I will sell to you by the gallon or better a bridge in Brooklyn that would round out your portfolio…..For me, anyone that use this analogy has the IQ of their hat size…..a failure of the education system or just a symptom of utter STUPIDITY!

The Wiki description is in my opinion simply just palin wrong. Once maybe it was right, but not any more (Wiki is aftr all compiled by ordinary people, not some organisation with fully qualified employees.
Socialism these days requires a much broader defininition because it has grown and changed over time into something much more complex than that simplistic basic idea.
Social Democracy (as I understand it) is a much closer description today and the Wiki version really describes the underlying principles of the “old” socialist ideals that were frequently used as the basis of Communism and I think it’s fair to say that those ideas are largely discredited these days – thank God!
Currently, I believe that almost all parties in most countries are pacticing and encouraging a form of what I would call “Social Democracy” which involves a VAST amount of government (as representative of “the public”) INTERFERENCE rather than ownership. That interference serves only one effective purpose – to justify the existence of the government itself and its huge bureaucratic machinery.

Of course I agree with you….my reason for the wiki thing is that MOST of these Dilberts would not know socialism if it bit them in the ass…….and if I tried to keep them up on the thing their heads would explode…..when I was writing that I had an epiphany…..I do have those once and a while…..and you only helped with it….I may try to do a post of the morphing of the socialist movement in the US…..but first I need to go buy lots of caffeine…..
Here most socialist parties work with in the ballot box….there are a few that preach the old revolution, workers paradise thing but they are so far out on the fringe that no one has ever heard of them….SHIT! Even the CPUSA was working to elect democrats…….Gus Hall would roll over in his grave…..
And just recently the US got its first Social Democrat party…….I am keeping an eye on them…..interesting stuff…..
I agree that many of them are more concerned with regulation and interference over ownership…..but I keep trying to educate the people about the socialism thing….they are NOT listening! Just yesterday another elected official, a Repub, called Obama and his admin as the socialization of America….apparently the word games are working or they would move on to something else….
Oh yes, I know what you were about and you’re quite right of course. But just ask yourself this – if these people were honest, hard working, well educated, intelligent and concerned with accuracy and truth – would they become politicians in the first place? 😈

Very interesting. I particularly liked his description of communism – very accurate. I also agree with his corporate communism ideas…
However, the thoughts I then found immediately springing to mind were these: “Yes. Great description of communism. Now let me see… that differs from all other political systems we’re familiar with in what particular way? Hmmm…”
Still pondering that one! 😆
Cool…I like Ratigan because on his show he asks questions and then refuses to let them use talking points….he tries to force them to answer the question with a real answer……
…and that’s never easy!
