Obama Admin Challenges GOP

Top White House advisers on Sunday challenged Republicans to offer alternatives and not simply criticize administration approaches, as Congress prepared to return from a two-week recess and take up a charged agenda centered on core Obama objectives.

“You have to come constructive,” Rahm Emanuel, the White House chief of staff, said Sunday, “and when you’re the party of no, when you’re the party of never, when you’re the party of no new ideas, that’s not constructive.”

He urged Republicans, among other things, to provide a plan for energy independence, and flatly predicted that “at the end of this first year of Congress, there will be an energy bill on the president’s desk.” But speaking on ABC’s “This Week,” Mr. Emanuel he would not predict whether it would encompass the thorny issue of a cap-and-trade plan to contain emissions, which some Republicans consider tantamount to a crippling tax.

Representative John Boehner, the House minority leader and who also appeared on “This Week,” said that Republicans had already offered alternatives to the administration’s economic-stimulus and budget proposals. As to the president’s plans to make health care affordable to more Americans — an issue that may loom over all others — Mr. Boehner said, “We’re working on a plan.”

“We are working on a plan”?  Hopefully it will be a better plan than their budget alternative.  So far their alternatives are just tired recycled BS from the 90’s.  But after 3 months of just saying NO, they still just say NO….that sounds like the only plan they have or will ever have.

What A Difference A Hearing Makes

First, it was the good news from Wells Fargo…they made $1+ billion in profits and then Goldman-Sach’s comes out with their news of a profit of $1.8 billion.  All looks well, eh?

Next, I ask, how much of that profit is the taxpayer’s money that was thrown at them?  Now some of these TARP recipients are trying to quickly pay back the TARP cash and get out from under the governments thumb.  Why?

Is it a coincidence, that after the hearings on bonuses and the consideration of limiting those bonuses on any companies that get TARP funds have anything to do with this sudden rise of success from these failing companies?

Personally, I do not believe in coincidence in government or economics.  These bandits are trying to get from under the government scrutiny and the government is helping them do so….

A Sad Consequence Of War

As many as 13 soldiers are believed to have killed themselves in March, bringing the number of reported soldier suicides this year to 56, officials announced April 10.

None of the March cases under investigation have been confirmed, but about 90 percent of deaths involved in such investigations typically are ruled to be suicides.

As many as 24 suicides were reported in January, but on March 4 officials removed one case because it was determined that the soldier was no longer on active duty when he died. Of the 23 remaining cases, 14 are confirmed suicides; nine are pending a determination.

Eight soldiers killed themselves in February, and the deaths of 10 others were still being investigated. Since the Army initially reported its February numbers, two other deaths also have come under investigation as possible suicides.

In all, 56 confirmed and suspected suicides have been reported across the Army since Jan. 1. Of the 56, 22 are confirmed suicides, 34 are pending.

As many as 143 soldier suicides were reported in 2008, the fourth year in a row the Army has seen an increase in suicides, and leaders have said factors such as the stress of deployments and personal relationships played a role in the deaths.

Of the 143 cases, 128 were enlisted soldiers; 41 were in combat arms military occupational specialties; 85 were married; 134 were men; 110 were white.

Think With Your Dipstick, Jimmy

An anesthetic spray applied to the penis five minutes before intercourse enables men who suffer from premature ejaculation to last six times longer after penetration, a study shows.

Topical anesthetic creams have long been used in the treatment of premature ejaculation, but tend to be messy and inconvenient. The PSD502 spray, made by London, UK-based Plethora Solutions Ltd, is a combination of two anesthetics, lidocaine and prilocaine, which act, researchers believe, as desensitizing agents, which can help delay orgasm for men.

Men in the study were able to last an average of 6.3 times longer after penetration when they used the spray. The placebo group lasted 1.7 times longer.

After 3 months in the study, 90 percent of the men in the treatment group were able to delay orgasm for more than 1 minute following vaginal penetration, compared with 54 percent in the placebo group; 74 percent of men in the treatment group managed to last more than 2 minutes before orgasm, compared with 22 percent in the placebo group.

Sixty-two percent of men in the treatment group said their orgasms were ‘good’ or ‘very good’ after 3 months, compared with 20 percent before the study started. The figures for the placebo group were slightly lower at the end of the study (19 percent) than at the start of the study (21 percent).

How Far Can They Push A Lie?

Anyone that has been reading my blog will know that I think the the GOP, Repubs and conservatives in general are a pathetic pack of liars.  They have been lying about everything Obama…they cannot help themselves.

I was going to leave the latest pack crap alone, but I cannot.  I figured every liberal blogger would be all over this and maybe they have been but theyt have overlooked one main thing in the “veterans and right wing extremist” thing.

Republicans on Wednesday said a Homeland Security Department intelligence assessment unfairly characterizes military veterans as right-wing extremists. House Republican leader John Boehner described the report as offensive and called on the agency to apologize to veterans.

“To characterize men and women returning home after defending our country as potential terrorists is offensive and unacceptable,” said Boehner, R-Ohio.

Every conservative talking head from FOX news to MSNBC have had their day in the limelight on the report that was issued by the Department of Homeland Security (God, I hate that title).  All from Hannerity to The Rush to Joe Scarborough have said that they are appalled that the report is targeting return vets as right wing extremists.  Each one in turn has thumped that patriotic chest, but nowhere has anyone called them on a LIE.

And recall the provision in the budget that called for vets to pay for their own rehab?  Yes?  Conservs are still using that against Obama even though after he met with various  veteran groups the provision was dropped.  That fact has been forgotten, that the pres after meeting with the vets saw the error of his thinking and was man enough to change his mind.  Something the conservs should try.

And what lie would that be, Professor?

The report issued by the DHS does not state that returning vets were right wing extremists, it did say that there was a “good chance that returning vets could be targeted for recruitment by right wing extremists.”  What a difference it makes when you exclude certain words from the report.

I then heard a Repub strategist say that there was NO reliable intel to suggest that and that the Pres. and the DHS was unfairly targeting returning vets.  Sorry, but that is not completely accurate.  The Southern Poverty Law Center which tracks hate groups has reported that there has been 54% increase in the number of hate organizations in the US.  I would say the rise in hate would be something to be concerned over.

Let me ask one question…..who would be a better recruit?  A guy that is pissed about losing a job or a guy with lots of military skills that is having a hard time fitting into a society after having a constant adrenalin rush,  who feels that the government has crapped on him and wants to get even.  Before the HATE starts….I am saying that I understand what the memo was saying not that ALL return vets are whackos.  I am a vet and I have nothing but respect for our vets, but I can tell everyone, from experience, there are those out there that will approach them for various reasons.

Conservs just keep throwing manure at the wall and hope something, anything will stick…even if it is a lie!

The Midget Weasel Speaks

Normally, I am not one of those who goes about bashing France and its people.  I was there several times and enjoyed myself enormously, the people were warm and friendly.  But I have to draw a line when one of them is being a DICK.

The dickhead I am speaking of is French president Sarkozy, the malignant midget.

Recently when Pres. Obama was on a state visit to France it was all smiles and handshakes, but after the lights of the cameras dimmed the midget, the coward that he is spoke.

He has never been one to endear himself to his fellow heads of state. He has irritated with his boastfulness, exhausted with his hyperactivity and offended with his tendency to launch televised policy decimations and send text messages during meetings.

But, impressive though his track record is, he may now have outdone even himself. In the space of just one lunchtime, the French president has managed to belittle Pres. Obama, patronise Angela Merkel and insult José Luis Zapatero by questioning his intellectual firepower.

“He said that Obama had a subtle intelligence but that he was recently elected and had never run a state or an authority before,” Jean-Pierre Brard, a Communist MP, told the Guardian. Another guest quoted Sarkozy in the Libération newspaper as saying: “There are numerous things on which he [Obama] hasn’t got a position and … he is not always up to scratch with decisions and efficiency.”

Now you can see why the little prick is losing approval among the French, he has the personality of a rattlesnake in heat.  About the only thing keeping him where he is, in the presidential palace, is his wife.

Sarkozy shows the traditional “little Man Syndrome”, make up for being a midget by having a big mouth…. at least something on him is big.

Could The GOP Become A “Religious Party”?

You know kinda like the ones we all hate in the Middle East?

John McCain’s top adviser from the presidential campaign urged fellow Republicans on Friday to warm up to gay rights and warned that the GOP risks becoming the “religious party” with its opposition to same-sex marriage.

Steve Schmidt, in his first political appearance since the election, spoke at the Washington, D.C., convention for the Log Cabin Republicans — a grassroots group for gay and lesbian Republicans.

He urged Republicans, in the near-term, to endorse civil unions and stop using the Bible as rationale for gay-marriage opposition.

“If you put public policy issues to a religious test, you risk becoming a religious party,” he said. “And in a free country a political party cannot be viable in the long-term if it is seen as a sectarian party.”

Schmidt predicted gay marriage will create a bigger and bigger divide between the GOP and the electorate in the years ahead. He said that as young voters age, they may adopt conservative views on the economy and national security — but they will not abandon liberal, social beliefs.

THe GOP is already the party of Southern white conservatives, which for the most part are ultra-religious.  The recent “Tea Parties” just showed that the hate for Obama is stioll there and the Repubs are capitalizing on it.

Could There Be A Greenhouse Gases Plan?

In a landmark move that countered eight years of inaction by the Bush administration, the Environmental Protection Agency determined yesterday that greenhouse gases threaten public health and welfare because they contribute to climate change.

The ruling set the stage for the agency to regulate emissions from a spectrum of sources, including automobiles, ships, airplanes, power plants, oil refineries, steel mills, and more.

The finding, which includes carbon dioxide and five other greenhouse gases, is subject to a period of public comment, after which the agency has no timetable and broad leeway in how to proceed.

“This finding confirms that greenhouse-gas pollution is a serious problem now and for future generations,” EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson said yesterday.

Sen. James Inhofe (R, Okla.), the ranking Republican on the Environment and Public Works Committee and a leading skeptic on global warming, said the decision would “unleash a torrent of regulations that will destroy jobs, harm consumers, and extend the agency’s reach into every corner of American life.”

The EPA’s analysis also found that climate change has “serious national-security implications” because of the potential for political and social upheaval related to food shortages, environmental refugees, and clashes over fuel, water, and other resources.

The Obama Admin has made a first step…..will they keep walking or is it just that …one lone step?

Yet Another Republican Moron Speaks

Is it possible that the US could be down to only 49 states soon?

Gov. Rick Perry of Texas while speaking at one of those Tea party thingys said:


“I believe that our federal government has become oppressive in its size, its intrusion into the lives of our citizens, and its interference with the affairs of our state,” Gov. Perry said. “That is why I am here today to express my unwavering support for efforts all across our country to reaffirm the states’ rights affirmed by the Tenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. I believe that returning to the letter and spirit of the U.S. Constitution and its essential 10th Amendment will free our state from undue regulations, and ultimately strengthen our Union.”

And then he went on:

“Texas is a unique place. When we came into the union in 1845, one of the issues was that we would be able to leave if we decided to do that,” Perry said. “My hope is that America and Washington in particular pays attention. We’ve got a great union. There’s absolutely no reason to dissolve it. But if Washington continues to thumb their nose at the American people, who knows what may come of that.”

I thought about his Texican bravado and came up with this:

If they want to leave the Union then let them go….I say bye bye…..let the sanctimonious a/holes fend for themselves with border issues, hurricanes, just to mention a few and we will see just how fast they come crying back wanting help with their situations.  By the time thew drug gangs get finished with them they will be part of Mexico again….go ahead dipsticks, leave!
