Closing Thought–19Nov18

We have had a midterm election and as usual the GOP is claiming voter fraud to explain their losses….I mean it has to be fraud because no one would vote against their racist agenda, right?

But wait the dude that sits in cat bird seat of power has a better explanation of why his idiotic ideas failed……

President Trump asserts that Republicans are losing elections because people are donning disguises to vote illegally. Trump made the claim while discussing the Florida recount with the Daily Caller, along with his belief that Broward County Elections Supervisor Brenda Snipes should be fired (more on that here, here and here). The full transcript of the interview shows the president also brought up California before making his disguise statement, so it wasn’t clear which state he meant when he said this:

  • “The Republicans don’t win and that’s because of potentially illegal votes, which is what I’ve been saying for a long time. I have no doubt about it. And I’ve seen it, I’ve had friends talk about it when people get in line that have absolutely no right to vote and they go around in circles. Sometimes they go to their car, put on a different hat, put on a different shirt, come in and vote again. Nobody takes anything. It’s really a disgrace what’s going on. The disgrace is that, voter ID. If you buy, you know, a box of cereal, if you do anything, you have a voter ID.”

The Guardian, which along with other media outlets paints the “disguises” claim as being about Florida, notes that Florida counties face a 3pm deadline Thursday to finish their machine recounts and that it’s not clear all of them will be able to comply; six federal lawsuits have been filed so far over the election in the state. The New York Times reports that thousands of ballots may be disqualified due to signature mismatches, though US District Judge Mark Walker on Thursday extended a deadline on that. He gave voters whose ballots were discounted over their signatures until 5pm Saturday to show a valid ID and resolve the issue, reports the AP. He also chastised state election officials: Florida is “the laughingstock of the world election after election, and we chose not to fix this.” (Trump earlier called Florida ballots “massively infected.”)

You gotta love the bullshit these a/holes can stir, right?

The GOP has become the whiny ass losers they have always been but hid very well…..they come out of the woodwork when they are losing….like there has got to be fraud because we know that everyone loves a Repub right?

Closing Thought–26Jan17

It’s all that voter fraud!

If one wants to know what is on the mind of those Right wing dillies without having to brows the gambit of sites then pick one Right wing blog to follow and read…..once you have read that blog no need to go any further….why?  Because whatever you read is the talking point of the day in the world of the Alt Right and the sheeple follow.

Since Trump made his infamous statement that there were 3-5 million votes by those people not qualified to vote…..massive fraud and they all voted for Clinton (the odds are pretty staggering of this)…….this is a lame attempt to explain away the almost 3 million popular votes that went to Clinton…..

To further this pipe dream Trump is calling for a massive investigation into the “voter fraud”……

President Trump isn’t just doubling down on his claims that voter fraud cost him the popular vote, he says he plans to call for an investigation. In twotweets Wednesday morning, Trump wrote: “I will be asking for a major investigation into VOTER FRAUD, including those registered to vote in two states, those who are illegal and…even, those registered to vote who are dead (and many for a long time). Depending on results, we will strengthen up voting procedures!” Earlier this week, the president repeated his claim that 3 million to 5 million “illegals” voted, and he says that’s the only reason Hillary Clinton beat him in the popular vote by about 3 million ballots.

On Tuesday, White House press secretary Sean Spicer backed up his boss. Trump “has believed that for a while based on studies and information he has,” said Spicer, per CNN. The problem is that no news service can find any such studies. The New York Times notes that a post on the discredited InfoWars website made the claim about millions of fraudulent voters in November, and Trump has appeared on the show with host Alex Jones. Spicer did reference a Pew study, but that study’s own author says there’s “zero evidence” of fraud in the 2016 vote. The Washington Post fact checker blog digs into the particulars and remains unswayed: “Spicer cited repeatedly debunked research,” it says, adding that “these studies do not support Trump’s Four-Pinocchio claims of ‘millions’ of people voting illegally.”

I know this will hit home to the “alt-ers” for the Tea Party and some in the GOP have been pushing this paradigm to try and limit who gets to vote.  Even though there is NO evidence of this massive fraud…even conservs think this is a bullshit issue.  Besides…yes there has been some voter fraud in the past but unfortunately most of it has been tied to the GOP and their people (please notice I said “most” not all)

But since he has called for an investigation and Comey is a brown nose bastard he will get it and maybe he should start the investigation a little closer to home….

When President Trump called for an investigation into voter fraud Wednesday morning, he tweeted that it would include people registered to vote in two states. He might want to have a talk with top adviser Steve Bannon: The Guardian reports that Bannon is still registered in both Florida and New York. Bannon voted for Trump in New York, listing his rented apartment in Manhattan for an address. However, state records in Florida show that he remains registered there, too, with his given address the home of Breitbart News friend Andy Badolato in Sarasota County. The newspaper points out that it’s not illegal to be registered in two states, only to vote in two states.

Remember that private email account that was so troublesome for Clinton?

I wondering whether it was really all that important as Trump made it seem……

Senior Trump administration staffers, including Kellyanne Conway, Jared Kushner, Sean Spicer and Steve Bannon, have active accounts on a Republican National Committee (RNC) email system, Newsweek has learned.

The system (rnchq.org) is the same one the George W. Bush administration was accused of using to evade transparency rules after claiming to have “lost” 22 million emails

But after then-candidate Donald Trump and the Republicans repeatedly called for “locking up” Hillary Clinton for handling government work with a private server while secretary of state, the new White House staff risks repeating the same mistake that dogged the Democrat’s presidential campaign. They also face a security challenge: The RNC email system, according to U.S. intelligence, was hacked during the 2016 race. “They better be careful after making such a huge ruckus over the private email over at the State Department,” says former Bush administration lawyer Richard Painter.

(Since this story was published, the RNC has deleted the emails of Bannon, Kushner and Conway. Newsweek is waiting for further comment.)

This will do nothing to change the tune…..there are large enough rugs on the White House under which it can be swept.

To Rig Or Not To Rig

Today is the day that so many have been waiting to arrive….they get to sit on the edge of their chair and pray that their person will win the White House and the country will magically be transformed into this “wonderland” that has been promised for 200 years and yet somehow has eluded the possibility altogether.

The media and its pundits have their polls and opinion and thanx to them this has become the biggest shit storm in a century.

Then there is all the faux comments about the election being rigged…..personally I think it is just a set up so when one loses they have an excuse to feed the flames of whiny voters……but not to be out done the media has come up with a “brilliant” plan to help them drive that accusation as well as everything else about this election….

If misery and politics make strange bedfellows, their Election 2016 love child in the Fourth Estate is a nascent project called Electionland. As Politico reports, major media outlets are abandoning the time-honored practice of scooping each other in order to combine reporting forces in the name of making sure Election Day is as clean as possible. “It’s an entire national newsroom, essentially only looking at problems facing people who vote,” says a senior reporting fellow at ProPublica, the nonprofit which gave birth to Electionland earlier this year and was quickly joined by the likes of the New York Times,USA Today, and Google News Lab, as well as scores of more regional media outlets like the Arizona Republic, Miami Herald, and the Virginian-Pilot.

Notable among those who declined to partner up: CNN and the Associated Press. Yet it’s what Quartz calls “an unprecedented gathering of journalists,” and includes newsrooms set up at City University of New York and at 13 journalism schools. On Tuesday, Electionland will watch social media, Google search trends, and data from the Election Protection project, as well as receive reports from reporters on the ground. “This is a really interesting experiment,” says a politics editor at USA Today. “I don’t know exactly how it’s going to work. I don’t think any of us do. It seems like the right thing to do.” Adds Snopes’ managing editor: “It’s going to be a sh– show.”

To me this sounds like yet another attempt for the media to control the news cycle as they have done for decades with their polls and pundits…..

And then there is this bit of “news”……about exit polls……

In the old days (meaning before this election), results from exit polls weren’t released by the news groups until all polls had closed. But thanks to a joint initiative via Slate, Vice News, and a company called Votecastr, how exit polls are handled this time around will be a “dramatic departure,” Politico reports. This “unprecedented Election Day experiment,” as Slate puts it, will offer real-time projections of who’s ahead in the polls at any given time in seven battleground states. “We’re hoping to fill in the 24-hour void between the last pre-election poll analysis and the counting of the votes with data that can begin to answer the heretofore unanswerable question: Who’s actually voting?” Sasha Issenberg of Votecastr tells Politico. The effort will cover Florida, Iowa, New Hampshire, Nevada, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin, as well as a modified look at Colorado’s results.

But Votecastr is courting controversy, as experts fret that word of who’s pulling ahead minute by minute could affect voter turnout. “I’m profoundly uncomfortable with characterizing election results during Election Day,” a member of the ABC News “decision desk” told the New York Times in September, when the project was announced. But Slate notes that feared alteration of voter turnout is an “unproven theory,” and Issenberg says voters keeping an eye on Votecastr—manned by both Democratic and GOP data experts—are already bombarded by pre-Election Day polls and stats. “Why should information on Election Day itself be held to a different standard than on the day before it?” he tells Politico. Read Slate’s in-depth explainer.

I do not like this stuff…the MSM is becoming too involved in the voting process when they should be reporting not creating……

But that is just my thoughts.

The Joke That Is 2016

BOO!  Happy Halloween everyone!

But if you really want to be scared…then look NO further than the 2016 election…..there is enough terror in that for a lifetime.

I am not going to sit here and write about the benefits of either candidate of the two major parties…..crap…I would rather vote for a head of cabbage because at least it is useful….something I cannot say about either candidate.

The case is being made that there may be some sort of “rigged” election this time around.

The campaign rhetoric has been one not of issues but of personalities. Hillary Clinton calls Trump unfit to be president, so Trump retaliates by accusing her of being unfit. Most of their television ads are attack ads. In personal appearances, their speeches focus upon what’s wrong with the other candidate not what their own presidency will be about. The last time a presidential race was this vicious may have been in 1800 when Thomas Jefferson was challenging President John Adams.

The Trump strategy is to make outrageous statements, talk over his opponent or anyone who questions his pseudo-facts, and then quickly change the topic to avoid having to present any evidence. That strategy was apparent during the three televised debates when he bobbed and weaved around questions. His entire campaign the past year has been loaded with lies, innuendoes, and attacks not only upon Clinton but also upon his fellow Republicans. Analysis by the independent Politifacts shows that that during the campaign, only 15 percent of Trump’s statements were true or mostly true. Politifacts determined that 51 percent of Clinton’s statements while campaigning were true or mostly true.

A case could be made that the election is how rigged but not in the way that Trump & his supporters would have you believe…..I would try to explain it but most have made up their tiny minds and it would require me explaining something complex as the election system and we know that everyone is a fucking expert in this situation…..especially during this season.

But the first “incident” of voter fraud has been recorded……

A rare voter fraud suspect has been arrested in Iowa, though Donald Trump is unlikely to accuse her of trying to rig the election: Terri Lynn Rote, who was arrested Thursday on suspicion of voting twice, is a registered Republican, the Des Moines Register reports. Police say the 55-year-old cast two early voting ballots in Polk County, which includes Des Moines. Two other people suspected of voting twice were reported to authorities, but have yet to be arrested. County auditor Jamie Fitzgerald says these are the first cases of alleged voter fraud that he can remember in 12 years.

“I think it shows that our voting system works in Iowa, that we’re able to catch it,” Fitzgerald tells the Register, adding that although tensions are running high before the election, there is still a chance that the double votes could have been mistakes. The Blaze reports that Rote was an early Trump supporter who told a reporter in early February that she was planning to caucus for him in Des Moines. Early voting began in Iowa on Sept. 29.

Regardless who wins in November I believe that democracy has been damaged….there has been so much vile and insulting comments made on all sides and calls into question the validity of the process…..

One of the great advantages of liberal democracy is the potential for self-correction. If an election works out badly, the next one offers an opportunity to make a better choice, and in the meantime constitutional guarantees keep the winners from abusing their power. But sometimes elections fail so disastrously as to threaten irremediable damage to a society’s foundations. The United States faces that risk this year.

Systemically damaging election failure can happen in several ways. Elections may be rigged or manipulated and, even when they haven’t been, the suspicion that they have may impair a new government’s legitimacy and create a constitutional crisis. Elections can fail when they put strongmen in power who have no respect for constitutional norms and threaten democratic institutions. They can fail when the outcome is so dispiriting that people give up on democracy and believe that only an authoritarian government can solve their problems.

Wait!  Did they say it was a GOP voter?

Yes they did and surprisingly that is where most of the voter fraud originates……this is an article from 2013……

The Republican party is certain that U.S. elections are rife with voter fraud. How are they so sure of that? Apparently because Republican operatives are the source of most of it.

 Say what?

This past Tuesday, Adam Ward of Bassett County Virginia pleaded guilty to 36 counts of voter fraud and perjury in connection with an attempt to help Newt Gingrich reach the number of signatures required to appear on last year’s Virginia presidential primary ballot. Ward collected over 11,000 signatures on behalf of Gingrich, over 4,000 of which, according to investigators, could not be verified. According to RawStory, the Virginia campaign of Texas governor Rick Perry faced a similar dilemma, with almost half the 11,900 signatures collected on his behalf failing verification. No Perry supporters are currently facing criminal charges.

I am sure that things will be different this election, right?

Source: How Would a Contested Election Work? Five Things to Know – NBC News

So far the election of 2016 has been a massive joke…..a comical primary season….a humorous convention coverage….and finally the hilarious campaigns for the presidency….where issues mean NOTHING and personal insults are winning the debate….

History will look at this election for only its entertainment quality…there is NOTHING of substance that could be a positive teachable moment.

SMILE!  You are on Candid Camera!

Fear of a Rigged Election Is Not New

As the election grows closer Mr. Trump has revved up the rhetoric about a “rigged” election…….and his words are finding fertile ground among the voters…..

(Oh God another of his historical perspectives)

But is his rhetoric anything new?

What’s new is that Trump himself is leading the charge. But will that make a difference?

It’s getting harder to maintain any serious suspense about who will win the presidential election, so the focus has started shifting to the day after Election Day. Trump, trailing badly, has taken to preemptively declaring that if he loses, it will be because the game was rigged against him. A new Politico poll shows 41 percent of the voters, and 73 percent of Republicans, saying he may be right. So now the airwaves are full of fears about what could happen if Americans take those charges to heart. Here’s CNN, for instance: “His accusations alone, experts say, could inflict long-standing damage on the US political system itself by eroding trust in the probity of the electoral process.”

Source: The Fear of a Rigged Election Is Not New – Hit & Run : Reason.com

I am reminded of that Philly thing about the New Black Panther Party (have nothing to do with the original) and how that 80 second vid caught fire and was used to claim fraud all over…..it was bullshit……

But then I think ALL elections are rigged…….why else would we be so afraid of third parties?

Look at any third party candidate…..the media will go out of its way to lessen the impact that they could have on any given election.

What is there to be afraid of in a democracy?

If you were hoping for something different in this election….then sadly we will be horribly disappointed.

Could the US election be stolen?

There are some in the population that are setting the stage for a presidential loss by hook or crook…….it is always in the wings to be used as an excuse for losing or for having a terrible candidate.

Despite hacking threat, several states use machines without paper back-ups that can be checked against computer tallies.

One month before the vote, and down in nearly every national poll, Donald Trump keeps telling his followers this election is “rigged”.

While he offers no evidence, a new poll indicates that half his supporters have little or no confidence that the election will be conducted fairly.

So he’s asking volunteers to act as election “observers” to look out for fraud.

Meanwhile, 16 states now demand photo identification from voters, like my own battleground state of Virginia, where a Republican legislature has adopted that requirement for the first time in a presidential election.

But a study found only 31 credible incidents of voter impersonation – the only category of fraud that photo ID could possibly prevent – over a 14-year period with over a billion votes cast. (a fact that will be ignored because it does not fit the tale they are wanting)

Source: Could the US election be stolen? – Al Jazeera English

The voter infrastructure is as aged and as vulnerable as our electric infrastructure….but that does not matter as long as they can find a way to make the election questionable.

Ever election the American people get more pathetic in what they are willing to believe with proof.

“The Election Is Rigged”

Before I go on let me wish Hip-Hop a happy birthday….it was born on this day in the Bronx in 1973….Congrats!

That is the spin that Mr. Trump is spouting at every campaign speech these days….is he making his campaign loss everyone’s fault but his?

That was a rhetorical question…..but you know there may be NO way to prove that it is not rigged.

Say what?  Could Trump be prophetic?

With growing evidence that Russia is meddling in the US presidential election—allegedly by hacking the Democratic National Committee and releasing embarrassing emails—the concern that somebody might try to hack voting machines no longer seems outlandish. And as many as one-fifth of all votes cast in the November election could be particularly vulnerable to interference.

Computer scientists and security experts have warned for years about the vulnerabilities of electronic voting machines. Now the DNC hack has brought those fears to the fore. In the wake of the 2000 election debacle, states turned to electronic machines to avoid a prolonged and contested ballot counting process. But as Wired‘s Brian Barrett noted last week, the move toward electric voting machines turned out to be a “technological train wreck.” In Politico, Ben Wofford lays out an in-depth history of how the United States came to rely on machines that are susceptible to tampering and intrusion. One computer science expert told him that if some of these machines hadn’t been hacked, “it was only because no one tried.”

Every election that the GOP losses we hear time after time about all this voter fraud…..of course most of it is just spin and excuses for not having a candidate that can win an election…..but this time it will be interesting for we have a candidate that has NO problem running his mouth.

But is it rigged or just f*cked up?

Where’s The Fraud?

This is for my readers that may use certain sites for their news…..How many time have you picked up a copy of your fave rag like Breitbart or Infowars or Drudge and read one of their many stories on voter fraud?

Many I would bet and most times it is aimed at Dem activist or voters that they are trying to stack the deck for the candidate….you know the stories…..you know NO GOPer would ever do anything so despicable as that, right?

Well I would almost bet that this is a story that will be found Nowhere on the sites I have mentioned……

It sounds like early predictions of chaos for Tuesday’s Republican caucus in Nevada were right on the money. “Trying to catch all the fraud that’s going on here would be like trying to plug all the holes in the Titanic,” a Marco Rubio strategist tells CNN. “You fix one and another one bursts.” The AP’s Sally Ho tweets that at least one caucus location was running out of ballots and turning people away. At another location, volunteers were reportedly handing out ballots “willy-nilly” without checking IDs, allowing one person to vote for Donald Trump twice, Mashable’s Emily Cahn tweets. GOP officials claim those reports are overblown, saying they’re looking into double voting and that additional ballots were given out quickly, according to the Hill.

Some of the more eye-catching photos of the night show caucus volunteers decked out in Trump gear. The National Review’s Elaina Plott, quoting a source within Rubio’s campaign, tweets that one ballot counter in a Trump shirt is “bullying” people and hiding ballots. That source called the whole thing a “shit show.” Volunteers at caucuses are not allowed to show a preference for a particular candidate.

Granted it is happening in the silly operation of a caucus….but sorry dudes…Fraud Is Fraud!

I would challenge the morons at the sites I mentioned….but why?  They had rather make up news than report the actual thing……their readers prefer lies to news anyway.

Voter Fraud Literally Less Likely Than Being Hit By Lightning | Mother Jones

Speaking of voter fraud………

For years now the GOP has been obsessed with voter fraud……every time they lose an election they cry voter fraud…..and now that they control so many states they are trying desperately to rig the election process in their favor……but really…..just how rampant is voter fraud?

Glad you asked!

Voter Fraud Literally Less Likely Than Being Hit By Lightning | Mother Jones.

It’s Voter Fraud! Or Is it?

How long have we heard the GOP talking point about voter fraud?  And where they are in charge they have done deals to curb the non-existent fraud…….but about the only fraud I know of is the fraud committed by GOP operatives….like the guy that registered people and threw away the ones that registered as Dems…..or the massive amount of gerrymandering where the candidates get to pick their voters not voice versa……speaking of gerrymandering……..

Republicans “made a mockery” of recent Florida constitutional amendments requiring lawmakers to draw fair political districts, a state judge ruled yesterday, ordering that two particularly egregious districts be redrawn—and with them, probably all districts that touch them. “Republican political consultants or operatives did, in fact, conspire to manipulate and influence the redistricting process,” Judge Terry P. Lewis wrote in a scathing 41-page ruling. He noted that lawmakers had destroyed a suspicious number of documents related to the redistricting process, and even quoted George Washington’s admonition to beware “cunning, ambitious, and unprincipled men,” the New York Times reports.

Florida voted in 2010 in favor of two amendments requiring districts to be drawn in an impartial, non-partisan fashion. The judge ruled that the GOP-controlled legislature failed to do that. Republicans currently hold 17 of Florida’s House seats to the Democrats’ 10, even though Democrats have an edge in overall voter registration. The judge didn’t specify if the districts have to be redrawn by this year’s midterms, Politico points out, and the state is likely to appeal. “Everyone in Florida is holding their breath,” one redistricting consultant said, predicting that the changes would ultimately wait until 2016.

What are the chances that the GOP will not mention this form of voter fraud?
