Gabbard–Choose Your Candidate Wisely

This is a cautionary tale for anyone in search of a candidate to support.

In 2020 when the Dem candidate pool vying for the nomination was a crowded mess—-I threw my support behind Tulsi Gabbard simply because of her strong anti-war position.

Since she pulled out of the nomination process she has made a dark turn….at least in my opinion…..and now she is leaving the Dem Party….but no one is sure where she will go after that…..

Tulsi Gabbard is leaving the Democratic Party once and for all. Per ABC News, the former House rep from Hawaii and presidential candidate made her announcement via Twitter. “I can no longer remain in today’s Democratic Party that’s under the complete control of an elitist cabal of warmongers who are driven by cowardly wokeness, who divide us by racializing every issue and stoking anti-white racism,” she said. Gabbard also accused Democrats of being “hostile to people of faith,” adding that they “weaponize the national security state to go after their political opponents” and “are dragging us ever closer to nuclear war.” Gabbard also took the opportunity to announce the launch of her new YouTube podcast and a 28-minute inaugural episode entitled “Why I’m Leaving the Democratic Party.”

Gabbard did not announce whether she will join the GOP, but as ABC reporters note, she “touted a number of traditionally conservative talking points, repeating right-wing rhetoric like ‘wokeness’ and ‘elites’” in both her announcement and podcast. Such terms are often circulated among GOP leaders and hosts at Fox News, where Gabbard is a regular contributor. Per the Week, Gabbard guest-hosted an episode of Tucker Carlson Tonight following the FBI’s Mar-a-Lago search, which she said “has set our country on a dangerous course, and there’s no turning back.” Gabbard also has a history as an “anti-LGBTQ activist” and is outspoken supporter of what its detractors call Florida’s “Don’t Say Gay” law, according to Rolling Stone.

Gabbard’s apparent pro-Russia leanings have further isolated her from the Democratic Party. Per NBC News, Hillary Clinton said in 2020 (without mentioning Gabbard by name) that one Democratic presidential candidate was “a favorite of the Russians.” Earlier this year, following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Gabbard’s tweet about supposed American-funded biolabs in Ukraine prompted Mitt Romney to accuse her of “parroting false Russian propaganda” that “may well cost lives,” according to Newsweek, which reported in July that Gabbard was included on a Ukrainian government list of Americans who promote Russian propaganda.

Her critique of the Dems being warmongers is spot on…..but her other positions smack of homophobia, racism and other far right BS…..a critique of Gabbard’s decision….

2020 Dems–Another One Bites The Dust #21

And then there were two!

My candidate of choice has decided to bag it in and drop out of the race….Tulsi Gabbard leaves the campaign trail…..

Tulsi Gabbard is out. The Hawaii congresswoman dropped from the 2020 race on Thursday and endorsed Joe Biden, reports USA Today. Gabbard had barely been registering in the polls, and she had failed to qualify for any of the recent debates. She did, however, manage to win two delegates from American Samoa, where she was born, on Super Tuesday. “I know Vice President Biden and his wife and am grateful to have called his son Beau, who also served in the National Guard, a friend,” said Gabbard, per Axios. “Although I may not agree with the vice president on every issue, I know that he has a good heart and is motivated by his love for our country and the American people.”

The 38-year-old, who served in the Iraq War, is known for her “progressive economics and noninterventionist foreign policy,” per the New York Times. However, her campaign never caught on beyond her fervent base. Axios notes she became a favorite for “fringe voices on the right” among Democratic candidates, and the Times adds that she sometimes seemed to be campaigning against her own party. “Our Democratic Party, unfortunately, is not the party that is of, by and for the people,” she said at a November debate. “It is a party that has been and continues to be influenced by the foreign policy establishment in Washington, represented by Hillary Clinton and others’ foreign policy, by the military industrial complex and other greedy corporate interests.”

She endorses Joe Biden….sorry Tulsi but I will look elsewhere……

In the tradition of IST….we will show Tulsi the exit to the tunes of Queen….

If my choices are the two candidates in the field now….then I need to re-think where to put my support…..I will NOT hold my nose and vote……time to start looking elsewhere.

Why Tulsi And Not Murphy?

It is NO secret that Tulsi is still my candidate of choice….and yes she is still in the race……

I have been a fan for many years and became a supporter when she announced her run for the nomination.

Remember back a few years ago…..2017 to be exact….when Rep. Tulsi Gabbard went to the Middle East and met with Syria’s Assad in secret?

NO?

Funny that does not surprise me one bit.

But to help you recall that and the grief she was given for the trip…..

Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard (HI-02) returned to Washington, DC after a week-long visit to Damascus, Aleppo, and Beirut to see and hear firsthand the impact of the war in Syria directly from the Syrian people. She heard stories of suffering, pain, courage and hope from people all across the country. She met with refugees, Syrian opposition leaders who led protests in 2011, widows and family members of Syrians fighting alongside groups like al-Qaeda, as well as those fighting on the side of the government. The Congresswoman also met with Lebanon’s newly-elected President Aoun and Prime Minister Hariri, U.S. Ambassador to Lebanon Elizabeth Richard, Syrian President Assad, Grand Mufti Hassoun, Archbishop Denys Antoine Chahda of Syrian Catholic Church of Aleppo, humanitarian workers, students, small business owners, and more.

I guess that some will be asking why I would bring up this flash from the past, right?

Good question.

Well, it has happened again only this time it is Senators that met with the Iranian FM in secret…..

Over this weekend, the Munich Security Conference took place, and saw a lot of comments by high profile officials from around the world. The event also led to some chances for officials to meet, including a very unusual meeting.

In a story first broken by the Federalist, Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT) led a delegation, which also included Sens. Robert Menendez (D-NJ) and Chris Van Hollum (D-MD), as well as former Secretary of State John Kerry, to hold a secretive meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif.

The US State Department denied knowledge of any such meeting, though Murphy confirmed it, saying he believes the US must talk to its enemies. This is still a huge deal, not the least of which because it puts current opposition senators who are at odds with President Trump on the situation in Iran in a room with Iran’s top diplomat.

This is almost certain to be used by the Trump Administration to accuse the Democrats of trying to undercut his foreign policy with secret meetings, and this is likely to happen whether or not the meeting actually happened. Trump was already accusing Kerry of regular meetings of this sort, suggesting it was illegal.

There remains much that’s still unknown about this meeting, most importantly what they talked about. No hints were given in the Federalist report, which instead tried to draw similarities between the meeting and pre-inauguration Trump Administration meetings with Russia. Murphy did not go into detail in early reports, and the administration similarly did not offer any indication they knew anything beyond that a meeting had taken place.

Most early coverage of the report used it to try to portray Sen. Murphy negatively. The Union Journal was quick to present this secret meeting as involving “Pro-Iranian Regime US Senator” Murphy, even while Murphy is presenting Iran as an adversary.

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo was deeply critical of the meeting, saying it might undercut US policies and sanctions against Iran and Zarif.

So far the media has not been as outraged as it was when Tulsi met with Assad…..why is that?

My guess is that they cannot chew gum and watch politics at the same time…..the 2020 election is sucking all the air out of news on the international stage.

I am watching to see if the MSM has its finger on the pulse of the foreign policy or is it just singly focused on trying to influence the election.

As the new year approaches and with it the start of the races that will determine the Dem nominee…..and as it approaches the candidates are dropping like flies……but through all that my candidate is still in there punching and scrapping for all the support she can get.

My support is for Rep. Tulsi Gabbard for she is the only truly antiwar candidate and we need to hear that point of view in this age of endless war.

She makes her points on war whenever she can get the coverage…..think about it…..$6.4 trillion spent on war…..while the rest of the Dem field cares less about the waste of money and especially the waste of human life……

The Democratic establishment is increasingly irritated. Representative Tulsi Gabbard, long-shot candidate for president, is attacking her own party for promoting the “deeply destructive” policy of “regime change wars.” Gabbard has even called Hillary Clinton “the queen of warmongers, embodiment of corruption, and personification of the rot that has sickened the Democratic Party.”

Senator Chris Murphy complained: “It’s a little hard to figure out what itch she’s trying to scratch in the Democratic Party right now.” Some conservatives seem equally confused. The Washington Examiner’s Eddie Scarry asked: “where is Tulsi distinguishing herself when it really matters?”

The answer is that foreign policy “really matters.” Gabbard recognizes that George W. Bush is not the only simpleton warmonger who’s plunged the nation into conflict, causing enormous harm. In the last Democratic presidential debate, she explained that the issue was “personal to me” since she’d “served in a medical unit where every single day, I saw the terribly high, human costs of war.” Compare her perspective to that of the ivory tower warriors of Right and Left, ever ready to send others off to fight not so grand crusades.

Tulsi Gabbard: Wake Up and Smell Our $6.4 Trillion Wars

MSM spends more time trying to tear down Tulsi’s candidacy then actually caring what her message is….

Progressive journalist Michael Tracey claimed Tuesday that MSNBC is has dropped all pretenses for their “contempt” towards Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-Hawaii).

The political news contributor said the left-leaning network has treated her fellow 2020 Democratic candidates, including businessman Andrew Yang and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) unfairly, but he argued that with Gabbard it, “crosses a certain threshold.”

“Fundamentally they’re beholden to whatever the market incentives are and right now it’s within their market interests to depict Tulsi as an infiltrator, as a Trojan horse in the Democratic Party and not deal on the substance with what she’s saying which is why over and over again they tar her as a Russian plant essentially,” Tracey told Hill.TV.

“There’s nobody who can really offer any kind countervailing view because it’s just not economically advantageous for them at this point,” he added.

So far all the attempts to lessen her appeal have failed……even the “major” candidate that attacked her, Kamala Harris, is out of the race…Tulsi is still standing.

However she has decided to not participate in the December Debate…..

The next Democratic debate is Dec. 19—but Rep. Tulsi Gabbard isn’t keeping that night free in her calendar. The candidate, who needs to get above 4% in one more state or national poll to qualify, says she won’t be taking part even if she makes the cut, the Hill reports. “For a number of reasons, I have decided not to attend the December 19th ‘debate’—regardless of whether or not there are qualifying polls,” the Hawaiian lawmaker tweeted Monday. “I instead choose to spend that precious time directly meeting with and hearing from the people of New Hampshire and South Carolina.” Gabbard’s highest level of support is in New Hampshire, where two recent polls put her at 6%, the Honolulu Star-Advertiser reports.

I understand why she is doing this….but I think it is not a well informed decision…but then I am not the candidate….or on her campaign team.

She may not become the nominee but I am proud of her for standing her ground and not waffling like Biden or Mayor Pete….

A good sign for Tulsi is that she is the darling of social media…..in spite of the MSM and Corporatist candidates attempt to assassinate her character and campaign…..

Over the last three months, stories about Gabbard have averaged 858 interactions on social media (likes, comments, shares) — more than any other candidate.

I have stated many times that I am supporting Rep. Tulsi Gabbard for the Dem nomination in 2020….basically her antiwar stance appealed to me after decades of antiwar activism it is wonderful to finally have a true antiwar candidate….plus the MSM is worried about her candidacy…..her antiwar is a bane to the ad dollar.

I love watching the MSM dance to diss Tulsi…even to the point of having Hillary try to do a hatchet job on her.

Most America feels that these wars are wasted lives……it is the MSM that continues to sell these wars to the public so that their corporate owners can rake in the cash…..

The latest Pew Research Center survey on the issue finds that 64 percent of Veterans say the Iraq War is “not worth fighting,” along with 62 percent of all American adults who agree. Only 33 percent of Veterans say the Iraq War is worth fighting.

Likewise, nearly 60 percent of Veterans and all American adults say the Afghanistan War was not worth the fight. Less than 40 percent say the U.S. invasion of Afghanistan was worth fighting.

The numbers indicate that the majority of Americans agree with Tulsi on war….and yet her voice is in silent mode thanx to the DNC and the MSM……

Recently failed Dem candidate Hillary Clinton accused Tulsi of being a Russian agent….now her lawyers have struck back….

The Tulsi Gabbard-Hillary Clinton beef now includes lawyers. Attorneys for the 2020 hopeful on Monday sent a letter to Clinton demanding that she “immediately” retract her “defamatory” comments on Gabbard; they want a verbal retraction, as well as one posted to Twitter, reports the Hill. The comments in question were made in October during an episode of David Plouffe’s Campaign HQ podcast. Clinton said of Gabbard, “She’s the favorite of the Russians. They have a bunch of sites and bots and other ways of supporting her, so far.” She also said “they” are grooming Gabbard to mount a third-party campaign; a Clinton rep later said the “they” referred to the GOP. Gabbard’s lawyers aren’t buying it.

Their letter states, “It appears you may now be claiming that this statement is about Republicans (not Russians) grooming Gabbard. “But this makes no sense in light of what you actually said. After you made the statement linking Congresswoman Gabbard to the Russians, you (through your spokesman) doubled down on it with the Russian nesting dolls remark.” Fox News reports the lawyers proposed a statement for Clinton to make, which includes an admission of a “grave mistake and error” and proclaims her “support” and “admir[ation]” of Gabbard’s work. CNN notes Clinton’s comments may have actually helped Gabbard qualify for November’s debate; she had previously never polled above the necessary 3%

Tulsi went on Breitbart to defend her antiwar positions….

Gabbard joined Breitbart News Daily on Sirius XM Patriot 125 for a live interview with Breitbart News editor-in-chief Alex Marlow, who asked her if Democrats still deserved to be known as an “anti-war” party. She said they did not. Certainly, not anymore,” she said.

“Rather than actually standing up for the best interest of our country, standing up for the best interest of our people and for peace, decisions are made and criticisms are levied based on, well, if it’s a president from the other party, then we’re going to stand up against everything they do. And this is something we see on both sides of the aisle,” she said.

Clinton accused Tulsi of wanting to run as a third party candidate and Tulsi has stated that she has NO such desire and yet the MSM still plays that card whenever her name comes up…….

October, in the small town of Blackstock, South Carolina, Tulsi Gabbard — dressed, as she frequently is, in white — sat in a seafood restaurant. She listened attentively while members of the state Democratic Party’s rural and black caucuses met as part of a listening tour. This was a meeting mostly about local issues, and though Gabbard had earlier made some remarks, she was now quiet and took notes, occasionally tapping on her phone. She was the only presidential candidate there, though other campaigns had put up signs or sent representatives. After the meeting was finished, she stayed and shook hands, the very picture of a candidate doing basic, non-flashy retail politics. The appearance wasn’t designed for cameras or attention — Gabbard’s campaign hadn’t even put the event on her press advisory, though a few reporters showed up anyway.

It was an average day on the campaign trail, but Gabbard’s campaign isn’t average.

An opinion writer that I respect is also a Tulsi supporter and has written a piece in defense of Tulsi…..

At times it’s been a decidedly lonely journey, particularly in the many years I remained on active duty while actively dissenting. I was, and remain, struck by how few of my fellow soldiers, officers and recent post-9/11 veterans felt as I did—strongly enough, at least, to publicly decry U.S. militarism. Then I discovered Tulsi Gabbard, an obscure young congresswoman from Hawaii who, coincidentally, serves in the Army and is herself a veteran of the war in Iraq. In the current climate of Gabbard-bashing, where even sites like Truthdig offer measured criticism, it’s hard to convey the profound sense of relief I felt that someone as outspokenly anti-war as Gabbard even existed way back in 2016. She said things I only dared think back then; and as I did, she backed Bernie Sanders—a risky endeavor that likely doomed her to the recent slanderous accusations of treason by Hillary Clinton. That’s called courage.

Tulsi is met with obstacles at every turn…obstacles set up by the DNC trying to limit the candidates to those in the “Center”….and yet Tulsi keeps finding ways to get into the conversation….but not to worry the debates are rigged to showcase the centrists and anyone else not standing in the center will be marginalized……

To listen DNC leader Perez talk about progressive politics is just a lie in the best examples of a lie…..after all he is a Clintonian toadie.

Tulsi And The Saudis

First I want to remind everyone reading this that the majority, 15 of 19, of the terrorists that attacked on 9/11 were Saudis…..

My candidate in the 2020 Dem race for the nomination is Rep. Tulsi Gabbard has made the news by attacking the Saudis position on 9/11…..

Democratic presidential candidate Tulsi Gabbard joined relatives of Sept. 11 victims on Tuesday in demanding that the federal government release the findings of its investigation into the Saudi government’s role in the Sept. 11 attacks.

“We are 18 years removed from this terrible crime, and the victims of this crime, the families who are here today, the American people deserve all of the evidence to fully come to light,” the Hawaii congresswoman said in New York City. She said the victims’ families “want the truth, and they deserve the truth.”

Plaintiffs in a federal lawsuit seeking the release of documents that they believe link the attackers to Saudi government officials joined Gabbard at a museum near the former site of the twin towers.

“Our government should not be invoking secrecy to keep its own mistakes hidden from the American people and should certainly not be used to protect the Saudis from embarrassment or, worse yet, accountability,” said Terry Strada, a Sept. 11 widow and the chairwoman of 9/11 Families and Survivors United for Justice Against Terrorism. “Until there is an accounting, we will never go away.”

The Saudi government has repeatedly denied involvement in the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, though 15 of the 19 hijackers were Saudis.

Gabbard said she would reintroduce House Resolution 663 from 2017, which would demand that documents related to Sept. 11 be declassified “to the greatest extent possible so as to provide answers to survivors, the families of the victims, and the people of the United States.”

She said she was seeking “not a highly redacted version of this information that makes no sense but a declassified version that actually speaks the truth of what led to the attack on 9/11.”

A dream cage match……

Over the weekend the national story was the accusation by a Dem nominee against a Dem candidate as a Russian agent…..is this what the Dem Party has become?

My regulars have learned that I support the antiwar candidate for the Dem nomination, Tulsi Gabbard the representative from Hawaii…I will admit that she is not the most popular candidate but then she does not kiss the ass of the establishment to get her way.

It seems that Hillary Clinton has done something to take the heat off the Bidens in the news…..she has accused Tulsi of being a Russian asset…..yeah she is still butt hurt from her lose in 2016…..

At this week’s Democratic debate, Tulsi Gabbard called out “despicable” reports in the media suggesting that she’s a favorite of the Russians. Now it appears that Hillary Clinton is joining the Gabbard critics. In an appearance on the David Plouffe podcast Campaign HQ, Clinton suggested that the Kremlin does indeed like Gabbard, reports Axios. “I’m not making any predictions, but I think they’ve got their eye on somebody who is currently in the Democratic primary and are grooming her to be the third-party candidate,” said Clinton. “She’s the favorite of the Russians. They have a bunch of sites and bots and other ways of supporting her so far.” Note that Clinton did not actually name Gabbard, but Axios is not the only site to make an educated guess that she’s talking about the Hawaii congresswoman—the Washington Post and the Daily Beast make the link, too.

So what’s with the Gabbard-Russia allegations? As Axios notes, one factor is that Gabbard has defended Russian ally Bashar al-Assad of Syria, and she maintains (in sync with her isolationist foreign policy views) that the US has no business in a “regime change war” to oust him. A recent New York Times article noted that some fringe-right websites also have embraced Gabbard because they see her as the Democratic version of President Trump, though she chafes against their support. In the podcast, Clinton also labeled the Green Party’s Jill Stein a “Russian asset—I mean, totally.” She said the Russians will back Gabbard if Stein doesn’t run again because Moscow wants to divide Democrats in key states with a “vigorous third-party challenge.” As for Trump: “I don’t know what Putin has on him—whether it’s both personal and financial. I assume it is.”

Clinton is still butt hurt after Tulsi quit the DNC and backed Bernie in 2016 and still cannot let the fact go that she was a terrible candidate that had NO chance…..and now she is trying to help Biden and the other corporate candidates as best she can….it is a petty person that back stabs to get revenge for a perceived slight in 2016.

Gabbard accused Clinton of being the one, along with her “proxies and powerful allies in the corporate media and war machine,” behind efforts to slam Gabbard’s reputation, “afraid of the threat I pose.” Then, a challenge: “It’s now clear that this primary is between you and me. Don’t cowardly hide behind your proxies. Join the race directly.” The tweets spurred instant reaction online, ranging from defense of Gabbard to mockery of her posts. Even a couple of her fellow Dems jumped into the fray, with Cory Booker posting a humorous reaction GIF and Andrew Yang going to bat for her. Clinton is taking heat over the flap, too: During a Fox News appearance Friday, ex-George W. Bush adviser Karl Rove said she should “put up or shut up” and offer evidence on her accusations on Gabbard

Let her step up and debate Tulsi face to face instead of doing what Dems seem to always do….a cowardly attack by back stabbing.

If she has something to say then say it so Tulsi’s face ..or STFU!

The Jill Stein, Green Party candidate, was also attacked and she has come out swinging as well….

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on Friday made the baseless claim that Dr. Jill Stein, the Green Party’s 2016 nominee for president, was a Russian agent—an allegation that was met with derision from Stein and an invitation to debate.

“In light of the latest slanderous allegations from Hillary Clinton, I challenge her to a debate,” tweeted Stein.

Tulsi has very little media coverage and this should give her a bit more…that is until Trump does something else stupid…….watch the media they will be negative to Tulsi and not call out Clinton for this cowardly attack…..CNN was the exception.

My Candidate Is Still Tulsi

The slate was set for the third debate and the DNC/DCCC got their desire….only the corporatist candidates with a couple of progressive to make it interesting and all others must just sit and watch the charade play out….and make no mistake it was a charade.

My candidate Tulsi Gabbard did not make the cut….I blame her active duty service kept her from making that bizarre cut. Yes. she still serves in the military (something most candidates have NOT done at all)…..there may be others that feel differently but like I said…it is what I believe.

Tulsi is antiwar that is all I need to know to support her. She is focusing her candidacy on US foreign policy the area that most 2020 candidates are overlooking to make points with the deep pocket donors.

Tulsi is the lone voice for the lies and betrayal of the American people……..

A veteran of the Iraq war and a highly decorated major in the Hawaii Army National Guard, Gabbard offers an intelligent and humane perspective on foreign affairs. She is criticized heavily because of her visit with Assad in Syria…..a move that I defend…..Tulsi is still defending that move and her antiwar position while the media pulls NO punches to discredit her…even other Dem candidates take cheap shots….especially the supporters of Harris….their petty parthetic attacks are troubling to me……

A two-week hiatus in the midst of a presidential campaign? It seems risky — especially as the Democratic field winnows — but fourth-term Hawaii Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard left for an Army National Guard training trip in Indonesia and has been off the grid for more than 10 days.

VICE News followed the congresswoman and Iraq War veteran while she campaigned in the key primary state of Iowa right before the trip.

“I’m grateful for that privilege of being able to serve in this way. Some people are saying, ‘Well, gosh, you know, your campaign is going to take a hit.’ You know, if that’s the case, so be it,” she said in Ames ahead of a meet-and-greet at a local coffee shop.

Service — in particular, her own military experience — shapes much of her worldview.

Even though she may not be polling well she still has and will continue to have my support.

This illustrates just how much of a true candidate over most others…..

But I am thrilled that she made the cut for them 4th debate…..

Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-Hawaii) became the 12th Democratic presidential candidate to qualify for the party’s October primary debate on Tuesday after a new poll showed her with 2 percent support in New Hampshire.

To qualify for the October debate, candidates have to collect contributions from 130,000 unique donors and register at least 2 percent in four Democratic National Committee-approval polls. Gabbard met the donor benchmark weeks ago but has struggled to notch enough support in a fourth poll to put her over the polling threshold.

That changed on Tuesday after a Monmouth University poll showed the Hawaii congresswoman with 2 percent support among registered New Hampshire Democrats and unaffiliated voters who are likely to vote in the crucial first-in-the-nation primary on Feb. 11.

The DNC once again has upped the qualifications for the next debate…..the 5th debate…….

The Democratic National Committee is increasing the polling and fundraising requirements for presidential candidates to qualify for the primary campaign’s fifth debate in November, the AP reports. But in a nod to the potential for late-surging campaigns, the increases are not as steep as those from the first and second debates during the summer to the third and fourth debates after Labor Day. To make the November debate, candidates must have at least 165,000 unique donors, with at least 600 each in at least 20 states. That’s up from 130,000 donors—with 400 donors each in at least 20 states—for September and October. Candidates also must hit 3% in at least four national or early state polls—or hit 5% in two early state polls. The DNC has not yet announced the date or location of the November debate.

My candidate in the 2020 race for the Dem nomination is Tulsi Gabbard and she is away right now fulfilling her military obligation (how many of the candidates can say that?)

While she away I want to keep her candidacy in the eyes of my readers……MSM will do all they can to keep her and her antiwar message from the conversations…..so it falls on voters like me to keep her position in the game (so to speak)…..

Keep in mind that some of the Dem candidates are some of the most strident supporters of our many wars and Tulsi does a great job of calling them out for their lies and betrayals…..

Polling well below Biden in the race is the congresswoman from Hawaii, Tulsi Gabbard. She alone on the Democratic stage has made criticism of American militarism central to her candidacy. A veteran of the Iraq war and a highly decorated major in the Hawaii Army National Guard, Gabbard offers an intelligent and humane perspective on foreign affairs. She’s called the regime change philosophy “disastrous,” advocated for negotiation with hostile foreign powers, and backed a reduction in drone strikes. She pledges if she becomes president to end American involvement in Afghanistan.

The point that all her opponents like to hit her on is when she met with Syria’s Assad…..of course all the attacks are geared for maximum political gain…not on the reality of the event……she has found some vindication……

“What you are referring to are [sic] cynicism as skepticism that I have expressed, because I’ve served in a war that was caused by people who lied to us, who lied to the American people, who presented false evidence that members of Congress and U.S. senators believed and voted for a war that resulted in the loss of lives of over 4,000 of my brothers and sisters in uniform,” Gabbard replied to Cuomo. “It’s our responsibility as lawmakers and as leaders in this country to make sure that our U.S. military is not being activated and deployed to go to war unless we are certain a) that it serves the best interests of the American people; and b) that that action will actually have a positive impact. The questions I’m raising are based on this experience that I’ve had.”

“I’m stepping off of the campaign trail for a couple of weeks and putting on my army uniform to go on a joint training exercise mission in Indonesia,” the 38-year-old Hawaii National Guard member told CBS News.

“I love our country. I love being able to serve our country in so many ways including as a soldier,” added Gabbard, a Hawaii congresswoman since 2013, who is polling at around one percent in the contest to become the Democratic nominee for 2020.

“So while some people are telling me, like, ‘Gosh this is a terrible time to leave the campaign, can’t you find a way out of it?’ You know that’s not what this is about,” she said.

Gabbard, the first Hindu member of Congress and its first Samoan American, is among the youngest candidates in the Democratic field.

Seen from the outset as an outsider, she has delivered confident debate performances, partlicularly in the second round at the end of July.

Pundits in Detroit, Michigan, praised the congresswoman for a forceful argument in favor of ending “regime change” wars and instead pouring the money into improving communities back home.

I admit that I am pulling for Rep. Tulsi Gabbard to win the nomination of the Democrats….why? She has my ear because she talks an anti-war message….a message that I think the country has long ignored in favor of corporatist candidates that promise and yet to deliver.

Rolling Stone set down with Tulsi and got her thoughts on many many issues….since the mainstream media is trying hard to ignore her I shall help pass on her message to my readers.

Gabbard, 38, burst into headlines after a July 31 Democratic Party presidential debate, when she went after California Senator Kamala Harris’s record as Attorney General of the State of California. The “smear campaign” refers to the bizarre avalanche of negative press that ensued, as reporters seemed to circle wagons around a Harris, a party favorite.

The Gabbard-Harris exchange was brief but revealing, as a window into a schism in the Democratic Party. Harris was elected Attorney General of California in 2010. She frequently sought moderate or even conservative positions on issues like criminal sentencing, drug enforcement, and prison labor. These stances were standard among Democrats back when being “tough on crime” was considered an essential component of the “electability” argument.

Tulsi visit to Syria has got her in hot water with the Neocons…..and at least a couple of the collaborators with in the DNC…..but there is a story there that needs telling…..

It was eight minutes of hell for Kamala Harris. Onstage at the second Democratic debate in Michigan, Harris was subjected to a blistering assault on her record as a California prosecutor at the hands of Hawaii Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard.

Afterwards, Harris was asked about Gabbard’s attack by CNN’s Anderson Cooper. “Listen,” she replied, “I think that this coming from someone who has been an apologist for an individual, [Syrian President Bashar al] Assad, who has murdered the people of his country like cockroaches. She has embraced and been an apologist for him in the way she refuses to call him a war criminal. I can only take what she says and her opinion so seriously, so I’m prepared to move on.”

Harris was referring to a controversial four-day visit by Gabbard to Syria in early January 2017, during which she met with Assad. While Gabbard’s performance during the debate was stellar (her name was the most searched of all the Democratic candidates), Harris’s jab regarding Assad seemed like all the mainstream media wanted to talk about.
