How one man destroyed the Food Network: Guy Fieri has made culinary TV into a viewer’s hell – Salon.com

The weekend and time for a change of pace…..you are welcome!

In 2005 when I was recovering from 2 surgeries I use to live on the Food Network…..as a chef in a past life I am always looking for new cooking techniques and good recipes….I spent hours enjoying the different chefs and their techniques…..and then this twat with spiky hair won their Next Chef” contest and the network went down the toilet…….

The Food Network was a delight until spikey boy wins that damn contest and almost overnight it became a reality show Hell….mind numbing stupidity……..gone were the days of actual people cooking and teaching others the joys of cooking

I have despised this a/hole….he would not know good food if it gave him oral sex…….his only concern is seeing himself on the tube…..he has killed the food Network….so when I read this article I felt I needed to press it for my readers……

Enjoy!

Another Food Network Twat

The weekend and time for “something completely different”……….

Since I have shutdown my food blog for now….I will post this here.

There is no secret that I dislike Celeb chefs….to me once they attain celeb status they are NO longer capable of being a good chef….anyone can write a recipe……and there is NO secret I think Guy Fieri is a twat….a worthless lump of crap……

I know just where am I going with this rant……well we remember the uproar over the comments made by diva, Paula Deen……she was set upon by the world and forced off the network……well Twat Fieri is doing his part….

(Newser) – Well, this is weird: TMZ has a video (NSFW) of celebrity chef Guy Fieri in the middle of an intense fight … with his hairdresser, Ariel Ramirez. Sources say the two had just landed at San Francisco International Airport and were on their way home in a car service. (Sources say they’d been drinking, not surprisingly.) It’s not clear what the fight was about, but it involved Ramirez punching and swearing at Fieri while crying, and Fieri kicking Ramirez. It reportedly ended with Fieri booting Ramirez from the car and Fieri’s manager escorting him home in a taxi. “It was just dudes being dudes,” says a source. The version from Fieri’s rep: “A bunch of guys were messing around. Things got a little out of hand, but they’re all good now.”

Since this was done in public and he IS the face of the Food Network….will he be treated as badly as Deen?

Besides if my hairdresser gave me the hair this twat has I would beat him also…….

Any thoughts?

The Future Of Cable

As Monty Python use to say, “and now for something completely different”…….

We know that newspapers and magazines, well all print, is a dying breed and they are trying desperately trying to save it…..and now to me, it looks like cable may be sliding into oblivion…….you can watch TV, movies, music, etc on your pad or phone or even your TV in the living room…….so is cable capable of surviving?

Cable TV is “on the fast train to oblivion,” but you won’t hear that from its executives. The latest financial results from Time Warner and News Corp are upbeat, and Comcast has decided to snap up the rest of NBCUniversal ahead of schedule. But the disastrous future for these companies is “emperor’s-no-clothes obvious,” writes Michael Wolff at USA Today. The bigwigs pretend that people aren’t “cord-cutting,” but the reality is that “virtually everybody has cut it or is flirting with the possibility of cutting it or being harangued by their children to do so.” At the heart of the problem is “modern business myopia.” Cable TV is deeply entrenched across the US, and for the moment, is still raking in cash—even as viewing habits have fundamentally changed. “My large television is a fully connected but dead presence in the house where a river of video, legal and not, flows over my laptop,” Wolff notes. All that’s left is for people to finally get around to dropping their cable service. Until then, expect the executives to remain in denial, following in the footsteps of Detroit, the music industry, and the newspaper business. Click to read Wolff’s full piece.

It looks like broadband is getting more and more popular and could in the near future replace the need for a cable subscription……look for cable companies to begin scrambling for government support as their popularity wanes………any thoughts?

Go Where No Man Has Gone Before

Saturday…….and all is well……but only after I cleanse the brain of the filth that is our politics…….a regular purge keeps the demons away…….today I found the ultimate of nerdism!

Remember the conventions full of Trekkies?  Dressed like Orion slave girls or Klingnons or Androrians and a couple of Spocks with a sprinkling of Uhurra ………and then there were the endless spin-offs……NG, Voyager, DS9, etc…..and on to the space burials of beloved members of the Star Trek family…….all that aside there is a cool story taking shape……..

In its time, the original Star Trek series has inspired many inventions – the flip-open mobile phone (based on the crew’s communicators), handheld medical diagnostics (based on its tricorder) – but now an engineer of 30 years standing says we should go the whole way and build the Starship Enterprise.

The cost? A trillion dollars (£648bn) – but if spread over 20 years, argues “Dan”, who has proposed the idea, it would cost only 0.27% of the US’s gross domestic product, or about half what the Apollo project did in the 1960s.

“Just look how many young people were inspired to study engineering by the character Scotty from Star Trek,” he writes on the website buildtheenterprise.org, which was set up to push the idea. “Well, I bet a lot of young people would be inspired if we actually built the first generation of /Scotty’s ship/.”

“Dan” admits that it won’t actually be the dilithium-powered warp-driven faster-than-light photon torpedo-bearing galaxy-class starship piloted by Captain James T Kirk. He writes: “The Star Trek adventures in the NCC-1701-x Enterprise ships take place starting in the year 2245. Our technology today is just not up to building a starship; that will have to wait for a Gen4 ship or later.”

What Happened To The History?

Recently in one of my “Random Thoughts” posts I asked the question……. Whose idea was it to have a History Channel without any history”?

I do not understand why we have a history channel with very little history on it, instead it is filled with gator chasers, catfish idiots and modern dumpster divers…..about the closet thing to history on the channel is “Ax Men”….why?  They are cutting down history by destroying old growth forest…..

Over the years I have said many things about GOP lawmakers….some not so good……and for maybe the first time in history(there is that word again) I find myself agreeing with Sen. Chuck Grassley. a Repub from Iowa….I know I am not too thrilled to find him and I agreeing on anything…but alas we do….

“I love history,” Grassley wrote in an email to The Washington Examiner. “A better understanding is going to strengthen our country. It’s going to strengthen patriotism.”

Plus non-history programming represents an unfulfilled promise by the network. “When I signed up for the History Channel on my satellite service, I expected to get history,” he said. “Instead, all I see are people chopping wood or driving trucks on an icy road.”

Back in February Grassley began tweeting about his discontent with the History Channel’s programming. “No history,” he tweeted “I used to get history. Why do we have such a channel when it doesn’t do history?”

As the Examiner reports, about a week later Grassley turned on the History Channel again and was still not pleased with what he saw. Again he took to Twitter to express outrage. “When will they put history back on the channel,” he tweeted.

The only thing we can learn by watching the History Channel is how NOT to fish for catfish or why you should avoid driving in the Arctic…….in other words NOTHING!

I am going to join him on his crusade on Twitter to get the History Channel to actually show history and leave the reality BS to the moronic channels like Tru TV……….

You Want Scary?

The rightwing media has been scaring the piss out of the American people for years now……..Obama is a secret Muslim….Obama is a socialist…..Obama wants to brainwash your kids….brainwashing ….now there is a good subject for a post…..Beck, Limbaugh, Huckabee,  et al have been giving all kinds of scenarios….but brainwashing is my favorite…..

After all the scary stuff these whack jobs have been throwing at us….there is a new one that really scares me to no end……Newser is reporting on this scary scenario……

If you think Sesame Street is too left-wing, Glenn Beck agrees with you—and he’s offering an alternative on his Internet channel GBTV. Beck won’t be hosting Liberty Treehouse, which debuts Monday, but the hour-long show will share his channel’s conservative sensibilities, and won’t shy away from dealing with politics, Politico reports. Much of the show’s content resembles Nickelodeon fare, with segments on science and issues like bullying as well as a large block of children’s news. “Liberty Treehouse will not only entertain children and young adults, but it will respect them and their knowledge and passion for history, art, science and current events,” Beck says. Critics, however, say it’s hypocritical of Beck to move into children’s programming after all his ranting about progressives indoctrinating the young. “I imagine the show will be a sort of anti-Sesame Street, which Beck probably thinks is a socialist-Islamist plot concocted by Frances Fox Piven and the Ayatollah in the 1970s,” scoffs Alexander Zaitchik, author of Common Nonsense: Glenn Beck and the Triumph of Ignorance.

Can you just imagine the misinformation that will be taught to the young?  These are impressionable minds and the stuff he will force feed them will last a lifetime and impact our society in more ways than we can imagine and NONE of them good…..so if you want scary….how is this?

The Dumbing Down Of America

I have been bitching for years about the population in the US….that they were getting dumber and lazier with every new generation….I have pointed to the popularity of reality shows as an indicator of the dumbness part and then to gadgets like the Salad Shooter, or the egg cracker and the battery powered whisk……and as much as I have bitched….I want to believe that it is just NOT so……but…….

The Repubs have been accused as part of the dumbing down process because of their education stands,,,,,this from Truth Out……

The Republican Party, particularly the rabid Tea Party-influenced majority in the House, is embarked on a juggernaut to take the public out of everything it can in American life, including libraries, elementary and high schools, government workers, environmental protection, even parks and parking meters. The combination of privatizing public services, and thus making them less affordable to the vast majority of Americans, and lowering the wage scale for workers fortunate to have a job is making this a two-class nation.

As much as the GOP and the TP are seemingly attacking education…..the population is not helping either…..why?

From a piece on opinionated.net……..

I sometimes envisage the television set silently and invisibly sucking brain cells and synapses out of my brain the minute I switch it on. I imagine that the longer I watch, the more of my brain matter is methodically extracted. I guess this is just a fantasy, but I really do believe it does indeed make you stupid.

Ways TV Makes You Dumber

  • TV puts you in a mild trance-like state where your brain shuts down and is left unchallenged (I’m pretty sure there have been studies that have shown that TV does have a hypnotic affect on the brain)
  • It rewards you for doing nothing, sort of like a drug, and that can’t be good for you
  • It’s a passive activity, non-interactive, so watching TV is something that is being done to you, not with you, again leaving you completely unchallenged.
  • TV usually panders to the lowest common intellectuall denominator
  • It efficiently and all-too-often takes the place of activities that could potentially expand our intelligence, such as conversing, reading, or project undertakings
  • Television is intimately tied to advertising and consumerism, so the goal of most programs is to promote capitalism (through commercials and actual program content), and not to represent reality. TV often distorts reality and manipulates meanings in a way that benefits advertisers. Since we have a tendency to believe what we see on TV, our minds are susceptible to being influenced in a way that benefits advertisers and promotes the goals of consumerism, which is often at odds with intelligence.
  • TV pushes upon us the erroneous mindset that if we only buy a certain product or service, we’ll be happy. Furthermore, and even more damaging is that this implies that if we are not currently satisfied or happy, then there must be something wrong with us. This is a horrible state of affairs, because as the Buddha so elegantly put it, life is suffering. There is no escape from suffering, and the sooner we accept this, the better off we’ll be. I remember this one commercial I saw for an over-the-counter pain reliever that claimed to be “one more step to a pain-free life”, implying that life is supposed to be pain-free!

In George Leonard’s book Mastery, Leonard explains that TV shapes our thinking in a way that makes us believe that the outcome is more important than the process, that everything can be achieved, resolved or wrapped up within a specified and short period or time. Again, this is a bastardization of reality. Life simply does not work this way. Most things aren’t black and white. And most things that are worthwhile do not take a half hour or hour to achieve. He explains that both TV shows and commercials present viewers with an unrealistic rhythm of life where problems are encountered and then resolved by the end of the commercial or show, and that it is one climax after another. So watching TV distorts our perception of reality, which makes you less intelligently equipped to deal with the real world.

Our minds are further warped by constantly watching beautiful people enjoy wonderful lives, called the Beautiful People Syndrome by Ron Kaufman (http://www.turnoffyourtv.com/commentary/syndrome.html) Thus we tend to erroneously believe that our lives ought te be filled with goodness, perfect looks and perfect lives, and that if we don’t have this, then there is something wrong with us.

Here’s an interesting tidbit of info from http://everything2.com/index.pl?node_id=805412: Scientists did a calorimetric test to determine energy consumption while watching TV. What they found surprised them. They found that on average people watching TV consumed ten per cent less energy than normal resting energy consumption. That’s right, you actually consume more energy sitting there doing nothing than when you are watching TV. There is a simple explanation. It seems that this is due to the concentration people exert while watching TV reducing the amount of fidgeting and random movement people do. While fidgeting may be a major part of one’s resting energy use, thinking uses up energy, too. The neurons in the brain aren’t very good at holding their own energy for long, so glial cells in the brain constantly transfer energy to the brain cells, energy taken from the blood. So if you keep your body steady but try solving a differential equation, you’ll probably find yourself losing more energy than while sitting and doing nothing at all. Of-course, TV excites neurons in the primary visual areas, but perhaps that’s, on average, as far as it goes ;). We may lose less calories watching TV because we’re not using our brains to think, only to watch.

The population is getting dumber and dumber and they can point to politicians, but ultimately it is their inaction and their mindset that is the most destructive……when they find hunting alligators or dudes cutting down the last of the old growth forest or a bunch a rich self centered housewives less appealing then what is going on around them….then they will get to the point of an idiocracy!  It is fast approaching!

Sesame Street: A Brainwashing Tool?

Remember a decade or so ago when some right wing whacko said that the kids show “Tellie Tubbies” was about homosexuality?  Well, at least one of the characters, the purple one, I believe, because it carried a purse…..I wish I could take this brand of BS seriously, but then I do not take too many of the right wing blowjobs seriously….

But they are not finished…..NO!  They are not finished….now they are claiming that Sesame Street is a left wing conspiracy to turn your children into…….DEMOCRATS!

……..clap for Ben Shapiro for exposing Sesame Street for what it really is– a tool of Hollywood liberals used to brainwash little boys before they’re even old enough to ask for a Barbie Jeep, and little girls into thinking that body hair is probably ok (it’s not.)  (from a blog called The ‘Cac)

Oh God!  They are back…the whackos that want to see their name in lights and find a hidden agenda in everything but where they will are…..OK, first let me say that if learning to write, read and do math will turn them into Dems then the party would be in a lot better shape than it is today….maybe by left wing they really mean……SOCIALISTS……….we know how popular that analogy is with the right wing nuts, don’t we?   Again if that was truly the case then would not Marx be a lot more popular than it is?

This is just total CRAP!  Crap spread by tiny little minds that cannot accept that they are stupid and society’s comic relief……informed people are laughing uncontrollably at the mental capacity of these jokes…….I guess every court has to have its jester…..

What is next?  What will be the next great left wing conspiracy?  The Wiggles or maybe that damn irritating Blue Dog?

See! There Is A God!

So many things and so little time…….for years I have bitched about the lack of nudity on TV and the hard censorship…..but now all that could be things of the past….why?  There is a God!

Fox News is reporting…….

The US Second Circuit Court of Appeals has vacated the $1.21 million worth of fines that the FCC levied against ABC after alleging that the network violated broadcast indecency standards for daring to show actress Charlotte Ross’ naked behind during a 2003 episode of “NYPD Blue.”

When overthrowing the fine, the court cited the FCC’s own declaration that “nudity itself is not per se indecent.” It also reiterated that the FCC’s context-based indecency test is “unconstitutionally vague,” as previously determined by the court when the FCC demanded fines from Fox when profanities were aired during the 2006 Billboard Music Awards.
I seriously doubt that this will give us what all the nay-sayers are warning about…..that is more nudity and such….doubt that this move will improve the quality or content of network TV….but it is a start…..and of course there will be those “sky is failing” folk that think that there will be bare boobs on news programs….but I think little will change….but on second thought….bare boobs on the news could make people more attentive to what is going on around them….if so…I say “show me your t*ts”……(a Mardi gras classic)………

2010 Info Ink Movie Review #1

First of all, it is NOT a movie…even though the people participated would like it to be, it is rather a TV show…a reality piece of garbage and I will debate that it is NOT now nor ever will it be, entertaining……however a few conservs friends had badgered me about watching a show on TLC (The Learning Channel) to see what I thought of it…the show is Sarah Palin’s Alaska….to be honest I watched two episodes (that was I all I could take without throwing a brick through my Tellie)…….

If the show was actually about the natural wonders of the state…it would be more tolerable….but NOPE…it is about the Palin clan and their pretend adventures in paradise……we see the family fishing (and clubbing halibut)….canoeing and watching bears by the waters edge or the family out gunning for clay pigeons…..all of which does very little to promote the natural beauty of Alaska and everything in the promotion of Palin and her Tea Party political views…..her comments are loaded with political undertones…..like the bears,  Mama bear is teaching the cubs that you have to do everything for yourselves…no one will help you (according to the commentary of Palin) or her spotlight on the use of guns or…..and it went on and on…..

It was more like a long campaign ad for her and her possible political career….not about the beauty of her state and why we should be impressed with the vista that is Alaska…TLC should be pulled in front of the FCC for allowing a person to use a documentary format to reinforce a person political stands…….

It is a worthless piece of entertainment (about as entertaining as watching flies mate)  and a waste of perfectly  good air time…..
