Iran: The Riverine Mysteries

I recently wrote a couple of posts about the sailors that were captured by the Iranians…..and as I suspected I got a few comments but most of them were anti-Iranian and not an answer to the questions I asked within my posts….

I do hope that people read the entire post and not just the title of the subject matter…..some seem to think that I was defending the Iranians or maybe speaking bad of the US Navy……none of that would be true…..I did however, have questions that I need answering, at least for me……

As a past analyst I am trained to look for small details that could be more revealing than the big picture…..the one thing that struck me was the female sailor in the pic of the crews in the small room…..she seem to be segregated from the rest of the crew…..is she having a problem with the situation?  Maybe she has a problem with her crew mates……she does not appear to be part of the crew, at lest to me….

I have been reading as much as possible on the situation….trying to get a handle on what is going on…..we will probably never know the whole story….but that should not preclude any questions from being asked…..

The media and the lame excuses given by the government has done nothing to ease my mind at what I think was a covert mission……after all Farsi Island is an Iranian Naval Base……

And then there is yet another incident involving the US and Iran on the high seas of the Persian Gulf…….

The US warship, reportedly the guided-missile cruiser the USS Monterey, was loitering around in the Sea of Oman today when it got a warning from the Iranian Navy to withdraw, cautioning that the ship had entered the area of an ongoing military exercise.

Iranian Admiral Habibollah Sayyari accused the US ship of trying to spy on the live-fire exercise, but did confirm that the US ship left quickly after receiving the warning that it had strayed into the missile range of the exercise. They also reported warning a US jet away from the area.

US Navy officials confirmed that Iran had announced a “closure” in the area because of a live-fire exercise, which is common practice, but offered no explanation for why the US warship strayed into the area, beyond saying they don’t consider announcements like that to be “orders.”

Once again…..questions.

Was this an accident or an intel mission or maybe a provocation?

What is going on in the Persian Gulf?  The first thought is that it is a game…..a geopolitical game……personally, I do not like the idea of putting troops in danger for a game……am I alone?

The Next Big Story!

Now that the Right has moved on from all the dire scenarios they have predicted because of the refugee crisis…..I have been waiting to see which will make their headlines….especially in rags like WND or Alex Jones or Drudge Report…..the shooting in Oregon filled that bill….this incident has all the gun crazies predicting the end of the 2nd amendment…just like after every shooting….and you know….so far they have been dead wrong……(forgive the pun)…..this should keep the rags filled for the next week or so……

But when that dies down….what will they do?  What crisis will they predict next?

In the past I have called pretty much most of the BS crisis that the looney Right will try to foist on the American public…..but what will be next?

At the end of this month (it is October btw) there will be an event that could fit the bill for something the crazies can worry about….endlessly…..

I said from the beginning of this situation that the media was not doing anyone any favors….that hey were misinforming the public and they were convicting this man without the benefit of a trial….all in all it is disgusting….every person deserves a fair trial, at east that is what the Constitution says…..do you people remember that document?

There has been an uproar….a political uproar….about the deal that swapped 5 Taleban for Sgt. Bergdahl.  The problem is all this b*llsh*t is all hearsay for now…..and guess what you mindless twats?  he is not alone!

OOPS! There Is A Thing Called The UCMJ

I have stated that I think all the FOOLS making a determination on the Bergdahl thing from hearsay are IDIOTS!  Political game at the expense of a person’s life….that makes them lower than low.

Is he a deserter or not?  opinions on this mean NOTHING for you see that determination will be made by a military court under the uniform code of military Justice (UCMJ).  No amount of ranting by bug-eyed twats like Malkin or Douchey-bag from FOX can change that simple fact.

Under the UCMJ he may not be charged with desertion…..and now you want to know why…..right?

When is a solider a deserter? Critics have accused Bowe Bergdahl of being one; there’s even a petition to the White House calling for his punishment and a popular “Bowe Bergdahl is NOT a Hero!” Facebook page. But the Idaho Statesman pointed out on Saturday that Bergdahl was never formally named a deserter, and today Mother Jones explains more about why: A soldier isn’t a deserter until administratively classified as one, which typically happens on his 31st day of being AWOL—on unauthorized leave. Classification is not conviction, however, though it does mean the soldier could be court-martialed and possibly convicted of the felony of desertion.

If the military classifies someone as a deserter before the 31st day, officials need to prove the soldier left without intending to return—and Bergdahl was captured after just 24 hours away. If the military decides not to prosecute a deserter, it can opt for an other-than-honorable discharge, or to “retain and rehabilitate” the soldier. Whether any of this will be relevant remains to be seen: Military experts predict the Army will deem Bergdahl’s five years as a Taliban prisoner as time served. Nonetheless, the military plans to investigate Bergdahl’s case.

I am disgusted with the media, politicians and most of all the people….for they are convicting this person without evidence other than some hearsay.  And he is being used as a pawn for political gain…..he does not get the benefit of doubt….whatever happened to “innocent until proven guilty”?

The American people are a PATHETIC lot!

He’s Guilty!

That is what most people are saying about Bowe Bergdahl…….the media is feeding that perception and a lot of people are making their minds up by listening to the roads on the Right…..Me/  I will reserve my opinion until ALL the facts are presented…….Why am I being a dick?  Easy……after being ass deep into conflict i know what goes through a persons mind, especially if one is not prepared for the sights of war……..Is he guilty?  I do not know……but I refuse to let vindictive asswads make up my mind for me and i refuse to allow the media to it as well………

But there is a political battle going on over this incident……..

The determination to transform the release of American prisoner of war Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl into a major political bone of contention continues apace, with GOP hawks offering harsh condemnation for the prisoner exchange, and reports that the White House has “apologized” for not informing Congress 30 days before the trade.

As with yesterday, a lot of the focus continues to be on Bergdahl and his family, though Time Magazine finally seems to have come to terms with Sgt. Bergdahl’s father’s beard, which fueled rather preposterous speculation that the former Presbyterian pastor was secretly a “jihadist.”

Speculation surrounding Bergdahl himself and the circumstances of his capture continues to fly wildly around, with the Pentagon saying the 2009 investigation into his disappearance remains classified. That, typical of the secretive Pentagon, combined with claims soldiers in his platoon were ordered to sign a “non disclosure agreement,” fueled speculation about a cover-up.

Army Secretary John McHugh insisted there would be a “review” of the details of Bergdahl’s 2009 capture by the Taliban, and whether or not he was AWOL at the time, but said the first priority is to see to Bergdahl’s health and his recovery from his long time in captivity.

I have NO use for those people that are rushing to condemn and if it proves they are wrong they will NOT apologize…….Asswads and the media are making sure that this person never has a simple life from this day forward.

If he is a deserter then he should be punished…..but to make him one without evidence other then hearsay makes one a MORON!

But you know all the bolster over this issue they, meaning the twats that want to make this a political issue, is the one thing that could crap all over their premise…..the UCMJ  (post to follow)

New Torture Theater

Remember about 8 or 9 years ago the raging debate on water boarding and torture in general?  It raged on and on….many opinions and many theories…..some even went so far as to protest the technique……I bring this up because a couple of weeks ago I gave a lecture at the local Jr. College on international relations……we talked about Middle East Peace…..and Ukraine and one student brought up this torture document that all are raving about….. I let the class go back and forth stopping and asking a question here and there and t\let them continue to debate….after about a half hour I brought it to a halt……

I told them that it was good to see the lively exchanges…which it was….I finally asked the entire class…….have any of you ever been tortured?  Of course, none had but a few tried to use some bullying as a torture….did not fly……they all stared at me for a moment before I said……

“Try It Then We Will Talk”!

I then went on to tell them that without first hand knowledge of what is involved and the physical aspects of the technique they have an opinion but it is a worthless opinion.

I bring this up because we are having the debate all over again……and as usual it is not about the technique…it is about the politics of the report……
