Mississippi–The Old Switch-A-Roo

WE all know the game the GOP is playing with gerrymandering….they are making it so that any minority vote is diluted given them a win.  My state did so recently in the Northwestern part of the state to try and nullify the minority vote because it is a bastion of liberal voters.

There attempt went to Federal Court and it did not turn out well for them…

A federal court has ordered Mississippi to redraw its 2022 state legislative maps in several areas after concluding those maps unlawfully dilute the voting strength of Black Mississippians.

Civil rights advocates challenged the maps and showed at trial that the maps violate Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act. Plaintiffs presented extensive expert testimony and testimony from Black Mississippians from across the state to show that the political process in the challenged legislative districts was not equally open to Black voters.

The American Civil Liberties Union, ACLU of Mississippi, Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP, Mississippi Center for Justice, and civil rights attorney Carroll Rhodes filed the lawsuit on behalf of the Mississippi State Conference of the NAACP and voters from across the state.

The court ruled that multiple new Black-majority districts should have been created — at least two in the state Senate and one in the state House. In the absence of Black-majority districts, stark racial polarization, combined with the history of racial discrimination in the state and other factors, deprives Black voters in the state of the right to participate equally in the political process, in violation of Section 2.

The ruling, issued last night, requires the creation of new Black-majority Senate districts in the areas around DeSoto County in Northern Mississippi and in and around the city of Hattiesburg, and a new Black-majority House district in Chickasaw and Monroe counties.

Federal Court Orders Mississippi’s State Legislative Maps to Be Redrawn

One state senator thinks he has a ‘good old boys’ alternate plan….

State Senator Michael McLendon has introduced new legislation that would offer state grants to encourage state and local law enforcement agencies to cooperate with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
Senate Bill 2329, known as the Mississippi Glacier (ICE) Act, creates a first-of-its-kind state grant program to support Mississippi law enforcement agencies that partner with ICE through the federal 287(g) program. The bill establishes a dedicated fund to reimburse local agencies for costs tied directly to enforcing federal immigration law, including detention bed space, equipment, training, travel, and lodging.
“Mississippi is not going to pretend illegal immigration is someone else’s problem,” said Senator McLendon. “If you are here illegally, we are going to work with ICE to detain you and send you back to the country you came from, which more often than not is a far greater punishment than jail.”
Under the legislation, only agencies that formally partner with ICE through a signed 287(g) agreement are eligible for funding. Grants will be awarded by the Mississippi Department of Public Safety on a first-come, first-served basis, ensuring fast and efficient support for agencies that are willing to help enforce federal immigration law.
The Mississippi Glacier (ICE) Act creates a special fund within the State Treasury to ensure long-term, stable support for participating agencies.
McLendon said SB 2329 is also a direct response and solution to the burdens illegal immigration places on taxpayers and already crowded local jails throughout Mississippi.
“Housing illegal immigrants is costly,” said McLendon. “This bill will help alleviate that burden on sheriffs and county governments so that money can be used to hire more deputies, buy more equipment or improve infrastructure.”
Currently, the federal 287(g) program allows state and local agencies to assist ICE through task force, jail, and warrant service models. SB 2329 is designed to dramatically expand Mississippi’s participation in all three, effectively creating a statewide force multiplier for ICE.
The Mississippi Glacier (ICE) Act would take effect July 1, 2026, if passed by the Legislature and signed by the Governor.

Dems Are A Spineless Bunch

It is no secret that I have not been a fan of Dems for a very long time….I think they are cowards, spineless and worthless and to make my point I offer up two votes recently….

First the military budget vote….

Despite months of warnings from party members up and down the caucus that President Donald Trump has been “lawless,” “destructive, and ”authoritarian“ in his wielding of power both domestically and abroad, 149 Democratic members of the US House of Representatives on Thursday night joined with 192 Republicans to pass a sweeping military spending bill—a vote that progressive critics say exposes the fecklessness and hypocrisy of what claims to be an opposition party.

The 341-88 passage of the $828.7 billion fiscal 2026 military spending bill came over the objections of progressives who warned that the bill—now headed to the US Senate for final passage as soon as next week—is a tacit endorsement of the president’s policies, even as he has ordered federal agents to terrorize US cities, deployed US soldiers on domestic soil in the face of lawful protests, threatened to annex Greenland and other nations by force, and conducted overseas military operations—including overt acts of war over the last year against both Iran and Venezuela—without congressional notification, authorization, or oversight.

Second the vote for funding ICE and DHS….

Seven Democrats in the US House of Representatives voted with nearly all Republicans on Thursday to pass a Department of Homeland Security funding bill despite growing calls from across the country for Congress to rein in the Trump administration’s deadly immigration operations, which are led by DHS agents.

Democratic Reps. Henry Cuellar (Texas), Don Davis (NC), Laura Gillen (NY), Jared Golden (Maine), Vicente Gonzalez (Texas), Marie Gluesenkamp Perez (Wash.), and Tom Suozzi (NY) joined all Republicans but Rep. Thomas Massie (KY) for the 220-207 vote that sent the legislation to the Senate—where the GOP also has a majority, but it’s so narrow that most bills need some Democratic support to pass.

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) notably refused to pressure members of his caucus to oppose the bill, even though voters clearly oppose federal operations featuring violence and lawlessness by agents with Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) everywhere from California and Illinois, to Minnesota and Maine.

Jeffries and other Democratic leaders have faced growing public pressure to use a rapidly approaching deadline—if Congress doesn’t pass legislation by January 30, the federal government shuts down again—to freeze ICE funding. The bill that advanced out of the House on Thursday would give ICE $10 billion and CBP $18.3 billion.

Time for a change in Dem leadership for they are as corruptible as any GOPer.

Dems have an opportunity for success but will they embrace change?

You can see how Democrats got the wrong idea. When President Trump was sworn into his second term one year ago, it was not unreasonable for the opposition to feel somewhat cowed. Though his victory was narrow, Trump won the popular vote and made significant enough inroads into traditional Democratic constituencies—young people, people of color, working-class people—that his grandiose claims of a political realignment were arguably credible. That wasn’t an excuse to roll over—standing up to the regime was essential. But there was an argument for Democrats to be careful about picking their spots.

Instead, inexplicably, the leaders of the Democratic Party are still refusing to give up the fearful crouch they adopted immediately after the 2024 election. The most egregious recent example is their failure to organize serious opposition to funding for the Department of Homeland Security. The split screen we’ve been seeing on this in recent days is outrageous. ICE officers are kidnapping half-naked grandpas in the freezing cold; they’re denying legal counsel to detainees; they’re entering homes without warrants; they’re using chemical weapons against high school students; they’re sending babies to the hospital; they’re detaining 5-year-old children. They are violently occupying American cities, acting like the gestapo that Trump seems to want them to be.

The Dems are being warned to change their mindset or face more losses….

Democrats may be riding high now, but one of their top strategists says the party is on track to crash in 2028 unless it overhauls itself fast. In a New York Times op-ed, David Plouffe—who helped run three recent Democratic presidential campaigns, including Kamala Harris’ 2024 bid—argues that despite strong showings against President Trump and MAGA-aligned candidates, Democrats have “no credible path” to long-term control of the White House and Senate. Plouffe warns that Electoral College shifts after the next census could make the map even harsher: A Democrat could win every state Harris took, plus Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin, and still miss 270 electoral votes, he writes. That matters, he says, because sustained power is needed to shape the Supreme Court, which could otherwise drift toward an 8-1 conservative majority over the next decade.

The party’s task, in his telling: Stop coasting on Trump’s unpopularity and rebuild a brand that can win “in politically unforgiving, even hostile, territory.” His prescription is blunt and policy-heavy. Step one: Tie Trump and congressional Republicans to everyday frustrations—prices, wars, economic turbulence—and make them “own everything.” Step two, which he calls harder: Confront how Democrats are perceived and offer a sharply focused agenda that voters see as immediately useful, not ideological. That means simple, easily communicated plans to cut living costs, from housing to child care to home health costs; aggressively build the workforce with needed jobs ( such as nurses, teachers, mechanics, plumbers); and regulate AI before it accelerates job loss, misinformation, and higher energy use.

Plouffe even envisions campaign ads that accuse Republicans of siding with “AI greed” and billionaire tech interests. He also urges Democrats to stop acting like guardians of a distrusted system. He calls for an anti-corruption push—term limits, lifetime lobbying bans, trading restrictions for lawmakers, even reconsidering presidential pardons—and for candidates to openly challenge their own party’s leadership, programs, and red tape. Voters, he argues, want reformers who will “blow the whistle” on broken policies and prove they can spend new tax revenue effectively. Both parties, in his view, are in deep holes. The difference, he says, is that MAGA is stuck as long as Trump dominates it. Democrats, he concludes, have a brief window to move while their opponent can’t. More here.

The big question is will the Dems see the light and go for it or will they hang back looking for more cash from the lobbyists that run the party?

Right now all we have from the Dems is lip service their actions are not at all encouraging.

I said that back in the 1990s as I watch Bubba destroy the Democratic Party with high dollar donors….and in 2016 I said it again when Hillary was the Dem candidate for president…..I said it then and I still believe that the American people cannot trust a Clinton…. so why listen to anything the bought and paid for mouthpieces of corporate America?

Former First Lady and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton complained at a conference hosted by an Israeli newspaper on Tuesday that young Americans were becoming sympathetic toward Palestinians because they watch “totally made up” videos of the horrors in Gaza on social media.

“Smart, well-educated, young people from our own country, from around the world, where were they getting their information?” asked Clinton during a New York conference hosted by the Israeli newspaper Israel Hayom. “They were getting their information from social media, particularly TikTok.”

She continued, “That is where they were learning about what happened on October 7th, what happened in the days, weeks, and months to follow. That’s a serious problem. It’s a serious problem for democracy, whether it’s Israel or the United States, and it’s a serious problem for our young people.”

Clinton complained that when she tried to talk to young people “to engage in some kind of reasonable discussion, it was very difficult because they did not know history, they had very little context, and what they were being told on social media was not just one-sided, it was pure propaganda.”

“It’s not just the usual suspects. It’s a lot of young Jewish Americans who don’t know the history and don’t understand,” she claimed, adding, “A lot of the challenge is with younger people. More than 50% of young people in America get their news from social media.”

The former first lady concluded, “So just pause on that for a second. They are seeing short-form videos, some of them totally made up, some of them not at all representing what they claim to be showing, and that’s where they get their information.”

Former Obama White House speechwriter Sarah Hurwitz made similar remarks about young people during a conference hosted by the Jewish Federations of North America last month.

This what we get for letting Israel buy the opinions of supposedly stand-up politicians….lie to the American people and cash the huge checks from AIPAC.

She is not alone…..there are many politicians in office that will lie just to get those checks….they care nothing about truth and justice and especially care nothing about democracy…..money talks even if it is bullshit and politicians drool over their chance for a big payout.

Last month, some House members publicly acknowledged that Israel has been committing genocide in Gaza. It’s a judgment that Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch unequivocally proclaimed a year ago. Israeli human-rights organizations have reached the same conclusion. But such clarity is sparse in Congress.

And no wonder. Genocide denial is needed for continuing to appropriate billions of dollars in weapons to Israel, as most legislators have kept doing. Congress members would find it very difficult to admit that Israeli forces are committing genocide while voting to send them more weaponry.

Three weeks ago, Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) introduced a resolution titled “Recognizing the genocide of the Palestinian people in Gaza.” Twenty-one House colleagues, all of them Democrats, signed on as co-sponsors. They account for 10 percent of the Democrats in Congress.

In sharp contrast, a national Quinnipiac Poll found that 77 percent of Democrats “think Israel is committing genocide.” That means there is a 67 percent gap between what the elected Democrats are willing to say and what the people who elected them believe. The huge gap has big implications for the party’s primaries in the midterm elections next year, and then in the race for the 2028 Democratic presidential nomination.

As a departure from regular posting schedule I feel I must report on a few things from the Trump admin that seem to enter under the radar….

One of the agencies that does good work although it could do better has been attacked by the new SecTreas….

The Trump administration has told employees of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau to stop performing nearly all of their duties, effectively putting the agency out of business. The order was contained in an email sent to the staff from Russell Vought, the new director of the Office of Management and Budget, on Saturday night, the New York Times reports. In addition, officials said Sunday that the agency’s headquarters in Washington will be closed this week, per the AP, without specifying a reason.

“Employees and contractors are to work remotely unless instructed otherwise,” the email to staff members at the office said. The agency’s internet homepage was gone Sunday, replaced by “page not found.” On Friday, Elon Musk, given authority by President Trump to cut federal spending, posted “CFPB RIP” on X. Congress created the financial industry watchdog in 2011, so it can’t legally be shut down without congressional action. Its director can, however, halt its enforcement of regulations and oversight of banks and other lenders. Vought said Trump has made him acting director of the CFPB.

The email confirmed the order from the previous acting director, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, to stop investigations and not issue any new regulations. Vought posted Saturday evening on X that he’s informed the Federal Reserve, which funds it, that the finance bureau “will not be taking its next draw of unappropriated funding because it is not ‘reasonably necessary’ to carry out its duties,” per the Times. “This spigot, long contributing to CFPB’s unaccountability, is now being turned off,” he added.

Another example of how little Trump cares for us peons…..still liking your vote?

Recently the Lord High Parasite made a statement a bout the US owning Gaza and then his gutless minions tried to walk it back but the big mouth from Mar-A-Lago just cannot be silent…

President Trump continued to push his idea for a US takeover of the Gaza Strip, saying he was “committed” to owning the Palestinian territory.

“I’m committed to buying and owning Gaza. As far as us rebuilding it, we may give it to other states in the Middle East to build sections of it,” Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One.

The president said it would be a “big mistake” to allow Palestinians to return to Gaza once they’re removed despite the White House previously walking back his call for the “permanent” expulsion of Palestinians from Gaza, which means ethnic cleansing would be required for his plan.

“It’s a big mistake to allow the Palestinians or the people to be living in Gaza to go back yet another time. We don’t want Hamas going back, think of it as a big real estate site,” Trump said.

He again called Gaza a “demolition site” and said the “remainder will be demolished. You can’t live in those buildings right now. We’ll make into a good site for future development by … somebody.”

Trump also claimed that the “only reason they’re talking about returning to Gaza is because they don’t have an alternative. When they have one, they won’t want to return.”

Trump then revoked Biden’s security access to briefings….

President Trump said Friday that he’s revoking former President Biden’s access to government secrets and ending the daily intelligence briefings he’s receiving as payback for Biden doing the same to him in 2021. Trump has the right to end the briefings for Biden because it is a sitting president’s decision on whether a past president should continue to have access to classified information, reports the AP. Trump announced his decision in a post on Truth Social shortly after he arrived at his Mar-a-Lago home and private club in Palm Beach for the weekend:

“There is no need for Joe Biden to continue receiving access to classified information. Therefore, we are immediately revoking Joe Biden’s Security Clearances, and stopping his daily Intelligence Briefings. He set this precedent in 2021, when he instructed the Intelligence Community (IC) to stop the 45th President of the United States (ME!) from accessing details on National Security, a courtesy provided to former Presidents. The Hur Report revealed that Biden suffers from ‘poor memory’ and, even in his ‘prime,’ could not be trusted with sensitive information. I will always protect our National Security — JOE, YOU’RE FIRED. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”

This should make life easier for his supporters.

In another move to improve life in America (sarcasm) Trump has taken control over the Kennedy Center…..

President Trump said Friday that he is firing members of the board of trustees for the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and naming himself chairman. The AP reports he also indicated that he would be dictating programming at one of the nation’s premier cultural institutions, specifically declaring that he’d put an end to events featuring performers in drag. Trump made the announcement on Truth Social:

At my direction, we are going to make the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., GREAT AGAIN. I have decided to immediately terminate multiple individuals from the Board of Trustees, including the Chairman, who do not share our Vision for a Golden Age in Arts and Culture. We will soon announce a new Board, with an amazing Chairman, DONALD J. TRUMP!” Trump also suggested in his post that he would be implementing some changes to the center’s performance schedule, noting that last year “the Kennedy Center featured Drag Shows specifically targeting our youth — THIS WILL STOP.” According to its website, the center in July hosted a preshow titled “A Drag Salute to Divas” and a November “Drag Brunch.”

Why?  This is such a waste of time and effort.

They say Trump hates women….they may be on to something….

As President Donald Trump’s anti-DEI agenda comes to bear on NASA, we’re getting a revealing look at what his administration considers to be too woke: women.

In a directive sent out just days after Trump’s inauguration, NASA personnel were commanded to excise all mentions of anything “specifically targeting” women on the space agency’s public websites, 404 Media reports.

“Per NASA HQ direction, we are required to scrub mentions of the following terms from our public sites by 5pm ET today,” the directive reads. “This is a drop everything and reprioritize your day request.”

The list of verboten terms includes “DEIA,” “accessibility,” “indigenous people,” “environmental justice,” and finally: “anything specifically targeting women,” such as “women in leadership, etc.”

Making bribery legal….

Donald Trump plans to make it legal for businesses to bribe foreign officials.

Bloomberg reports that the president will soon sign an executive order to pause the enforcement of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, claiming that it hurts American businesses. The order will instruct Attorney General Pam Bondi to pause criminal prosecutions under the law until she issues new enforcement guidelines, according to a fact sheet on the order obtained by the news outlet. She will also be ordered to review current and past Justice Department actions under the law.

“U.S. companies are harmed by FCPA overenforcement because they are prohibited from engaging in practices common among international competitors, creating an uneven playing field,” the fact sheet states. A White House official confirmed the fact sheet’s veracity to CNBC, telling the network the move is “a pause in enforcement to better understand how to streamline the FCPA to make sure it’s in line with economic interests and national security.”

Last Week At The Clown Show

It is Sunday and for the time being I thought I would take a look at the issues that are most amusing coming from Donald the Orange.  I apologize for breaking with my no politics pledge for the weekend but this stuff is just too silly to ignore.

Since so much is happening with the Trump EOs and his understudy Musk I thought I would give a review of some of the more idiotic of moves by this clown show.

Just a short list of some of the more pointed issues.

Number one is Donald the Orange’s choice for ambassador….

President Donald Trump announced the nomination of Melinda Hildebrand, the billionaire owner of a renowned Texas donut shop, as the next U.S. Ambassador to Costa Rica.

This decision has sparked questions and criticisms about the qualifications and background of Trump’s newly appointed ambassador.

The commander-in-chief took to Truth Social on Thursday, February 6, to announce Hildebrand’s appointment.

“I am pleased to announce that Melinda Hildebrand will serve as the next United States Ambassador to Costa Rica,” he shared with his 8 million followers on the social media platform. “Melinda is an incredibly successful businesswoman and philanthropist, who serves as the Vice Chair of the Hildebrand Foundation, and Vice President of Hilcorp Ventures Inc. She is also the President and Owner of the popular River Oaks Donuts. She will fight tirelessly to protect America’s Interests abroad, especially in Trade and Immigration. Congratulations Melinda!”

Trump keeps in style by nominating the unqualified to lead this country.

Number two–while his is rounding up brown skin people for deportation he signs another EO flinging the doors of the country open for South Africans…..not all South Africans just the white ones.

President Donald Trump has feverishly worked to restrict immigration to the United States and has started to revoke the legal status of some immigrants from Latin America who are in the U.S. legally. But on Friday, Trump swung open the nation’s doors to White South Africans.

The president signed an executive order criticizing South Africa’s 2024 Expropriation Act, which allows the government to take land “for a public purpose” or “in the public interest” in exchange for “just and equitable compensation.” South African officials have likened the law to eminent domain in the U.S.

About 70% of all farmland in South Africans is owned by members of the country’s White minority. The country has yet to expropriate any land under the law.

“In shocking disregard of its citizens’ rights, the Republic of South Africa (South Africa) recently enacted Expropriation Act 13 of 2024 (Act), to enable the government of South Africa to seize ethnic minority Afrikaners’ agricultural property without compensation,” Trump’s order stated, using a term for White South Africans. “This Act follows countless government policies designed to dismantle equal opportunity in employment, education, and business, and hateful rhetoric and government actions fueling disproportionate violence against racially disfavored landowners.”

Trump also cited South Africa’s role in bringing a case against Israel at the International Court of Justice, where it accused Israel of “genocidal intent” in its war in Gaza. He said the U.S. ” shall not provide aid or assistance to South Africa” and “shall promote the resettlement of Afrikaner refugees escaping government-sponsored race-based discrimination.”

Notably, the president made loud and clear that the U.S. will welcome South Africans of European descent to the country, if they wish to come.

“The Secretary of State and the Secretary of Homeland Security shall take appropriate steps, consistent with law, to prioritize humanitarian relief, including admission and resettlement through the United States Refugee Admissions Program, for Afrikaners in South Africa who are victims of unjust racial discrimination,” he wrote. “Such plan shall be submitted to the President through the Assistant to the President and Homeland Security Advisor.”

Number three–an insurrectionist has been named by the Lord High Destroyer as head of counterterrorism….

It’s why Trump nominated Robert Kennedy Jr., a COVID conspiracy theorist who spreads medical misinformation and advocates for medical racism, for Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary. It’s why Pete Hegseth is now leading the Department of National Defense despite Hegseth having no clear experience in the field, being unable to answer basic questions about U.S. foreign policy, and believing that his top priority as defence secretary should be to de-woke-ify the military.

So, it should surprise absolutely no one that the man Trump has tapped to oversee U.S. intelligence on terrorism threats is a MAGA loyalist who once referred to Jan. 6 terrorists as “political prisoners.”

Meet Joe Kent.

Trump has selected Kent to serve as director of the National Counterterrorism Center (NCTC), which “oversees U.S. government intelligence on terrorist threats and retains a database of all known and suspected terrorists,” according to NBC News. Now, on paper, Kend appears to be qualified, unlike many of the diversity-averse appointees that the DEI-hating president has selected. He served in Army Special Forces for 20 years, and after that, he worked for the CIA. But Kent doesn’t believe the people who attacked police officers at the U.S. Capitol, stormed the building and threatened legislators, all to upend democracy by overthrowing the government are terrorists. He also reportedly has an affinity for white nationalist groups, but don’t worry, folks, because he rejects “racism and bigotry.”

President Trump is going after paper straws in one of his next initiatives:

  • “I will be signing an Executive Order next week ending the ridiculous Biden push for Paper Straws, which don’t work,” Trump wrote Friday on Truth Social. “BACK TO PLASTIC!”
  • The reference is to an initiative former President Biden signed last year to phase out single-use plastics such as straws, cutlery, and cups throughout the federal government, reports the Washington Post. It was not clear if Trump’s executive order would focus only on straws.
  • The issue may sound small-scale on the surface, but Politico sees the debate over straws as “a microcosm of a larger debate over whether the federal government should mitigate greenhouse gas emissions.” Most plastic is derived from fossil fuels.
  • USA Today similarly sees the straw issue as a proxy fight “against Democrat-backed environmental regulations.” Working in Republicans’ favor is that paper straws “tend to quickly dissolve and can be unpopular with consumers of beverages,” the story adds.
  • The issue goes back awhile: Newsweek notes that Trump sold Trump-branded plastic straws during his 2020 campaign. “Liberal paper straws don’t work,” his site declared at the time. “Stand with President Trump and buy your recyclable straws today

President Trump said Thursday that he wants to root out “anti-Christian bias” in the US, announcing that he was forming a task force led by Attorney General Pam Bondi to investigate the “targeting” of Christians, the AP reports. Speaking at a pair of events in Washington surrounding the the National Prayer Breakfast, Trump said the task force would be directed to “immediately halt all forms of anti-Christian targeting and discrimination within the federal government, including at the DOJ, which was absolutely terrible, the IRS, the FBI—terrible—and other agencies.” Trump said Bondi would also work to “fully prosecute anti-Christian violence and vandalism in our society and to move heaven and earth to defend the rights of Christians and religious believers nationwide.”

Hours after the two events, Trump signed an executive order directing the new task force to identify unlawful policies, practices, or conduct by all executive departments and agencies, and recommend any additional presidential or legislative action. An hour after calling for “unity” at the National Prayer Breakfast on Capitol Hill, though, Trump struck a more partisan tone at the second event across town, announcing that, in addition to the task force, he was forming a commission on religious liberty. He criticized the Biden administration for “persecution” of believers for prosecuting anti-abortion advocates.

I thought we already did a safe guard…..I believe we call it the Constitution.

If you are then there is a new scam for those with more money than brains.

Donald Trump teased an upcoming “major announcement” Wednesday on Truth Social, and on Thursday he unveiled it. His 2024 running mate, perhaps? Nope, Trump is selling what he calls “digital trading cards” featuring none other than himself, reports the Washington Examiner. “These limited edition cards feature amazing ART of my Life & Career! Collect all of your favorite Trump Digital Trading Cards, very much like a baseball card, but hopefully much more exciting,” reads his social media post. The NFT cards cost $99 each, and examples on the CollectTrumpCards.com website feature Trump as a superhero, an astronaut, a NASCAR driver, etc.

Those who buy one are entered into a sweepstakes with a prize of having dinner with Trump at Mar-a-Lago, and those who buy 45 cards (Trump was the 45th president) are guaranteed a dinner invitation. “Buy one and you will join a very exclusive community,” says Trump in an accompanying video, per Mediaite. “It’s my community and I think it’s something you’re going to like and you’re going to like it a lot.” One digital version of the president is adorned in a Superman-like costume that features the letter “T” instead of “S.” When he recovered from COVID as president, Trump reportedly pitched the idea of ripping off his dress shirt to reveal a Superman shirt underneath.

Being reported (not verified by me) that the mailing address for the company that is issuing these cards is Mar-a-Lago.

This endeavor will probably go down with the Trump steaks, water, wine, vodka as dismal failures.

Why Has Our Country Come To This?

There is a social/political storm brewing on the horizon….one that could have long ranging consequences for a generation maybe longer…….

This is my series trying to make sense and help explain why this storm is approaching.

I have written many times about the direction of this country….that it is slipping into complete chaos o rival some third world countries.

But when our political system devolves into this silliness there seems to be no hope remaining…..

Missouri GOP Senate candidate Eric Greitens on Tuesday published a video encouraging voters to get “RINO-hunting permits.” The 38-second spot shows him on the front porch of a home holding a tactical shotgun and “surrounded by men in US armed forces camouflage uniforms,” per the Hill.As though narrating a wildlife documentary, Greitens whispers, “the RINO feeds off corruption and is marked by the stripes of cowardice.” The armed men then batter down the door and toss a flash grenade into the residence. Greitens enters and urges viewers to “join the MAGA crew” and get the permit, adding, “there’s no bagging limit … and it doesn’t expire until we save our country.” The caption in the accompanying tweet says, “We are sick and tired of Republicans in Name Only surrendering to Joe Biden & the radical Left.”

Backlash came quickly from all sides. Democratic Rep. Ruben Gallego said the video “encourages political violence,””and Rep. Juan Castro, another Democrat, called it “sociopathic.” Per the Kansas City Star, Greitens’ GOP primary opponents also condemned the message. Rep. Vicky Hartzler called Greitens “an abuser” and “a blackmailer.” Rep. Billy Long said the ad was “very distasteful,” but he also called his other primary opponents RINOs and said, “The only way to beat RINOs … is at the ballot box.” In response to the Hill, Greitens’ campaign said, “If anyone doesn’t get the metaphor, they are either lying or dumb.”

Rolling Stonesays, “the ad is not subtle. It isn’t even metaphorical.” It is, however, in keeping with past themes in Greitens’ career, including a 2016 campaign video of himself “unleashing hell” with a heavy machinegun. Greitens is former governor of Missouri but was forced to resign in 2018 amid allegations of sexual assault and campaign finance violations. His then-wife also accused him of physical abuse. He and others are running to fill the seat of retiring GOP Sen. Roy Blunt. Per Real Clear Politics, Greitens leads the Republican field in recent polls. The Missouri primary is in August.

This guy is the perfect candidate of the GOP….corrupt, abuser and sexual assault….makes near and dear to Trump.

Has the GOP opened up a ‘paramilitary wing’?

Pennsylvania Capital-Star, columnist J. Patrick Coolican warned that far-right Republican lawmakers are effectively building up their branch of the party into a “paramilitary wing” — driven in part by their voting base’s own fetishization of political violence.

“J.R. Majewski, a Republican candidate for Congress in Ohio, ran an ad (since taken down for copyright issues) in which images of President Joe Biden, Minnesota U.S. Rep. Ilhan Omar and Colin Kaepernick (?!) are flashed on the screen, and then Majewski casually walks around with a rifle and says he’ll ‘do whatever it takes to return this country back to its former glory,'” wrote Coolican. “Blake Masters, the Trump-endorsed U.S. Senate candidate in Arizona, builds his own guns and recently showed one off on social media with the caption: ‘I will remind everyone in Congress what ‘shall not be infringed’ means.’ It’s an especially sinister message, given that Masters’ potential opponent is U.S. Sen. Mark Kelly, whose wife former Rep. Gabby Giffords was badly injured in a 2011 mall shooting.”

As Coolican wrote, people should not dismiss these as idle threats — because in the past, long before former President Donald Trump was even born, elected lawmakers and large blocs of their constituents endorsed and carried out acts of violence in similar ways, with horrible consequences.

“America has a long history of political violence, often — though not always — rooted in white supremacy,” wrote Coolican. “As Jelani Cobb recounted in 2020, the American Party, aka the ‘Know Nothings,’ were infamous for their bludgeoning mobs, particularly against immigrant voters. The brutal caning of abolitionist U.S. Sen. Charles Sumner by U.S. Rep. Preston Brooks on the floor of the Senate in 1856 was just the most infamous attack during a time when physical combat in the U.S. Congress was shockingly common, as historian Joanne Freeman records in ‘The Fields of Blood.’ Between 1830 and 1860, there were more than 70 violent incidents in House and Senate chambers, on nearby streets and — yes, this is real — ‘dueling grounds.'”

Many Americans of both parties think the government is corrupt and needs to be dealt with on some level….

A new poll from the University of Chicago’s Institute of Politics finds a majority of Americans think the government is corrupt and stacked against them.

To probably no one’s surprise, 73 percent of poll respondents who identify as “strong Republican” respondents agreed with the statement that the government is “corrupt and rigged against everyday people like me.” But Republicans are far from alone in this sentiment. Fifty-one percent of “very liberal” voters agreed with the same statement.

Overall, 56 percent of survey respondents said that the government is corrupt. This included 66 percent of all Republican respondents, 63 percent of independents, and 46 percent of Democrats.

The survey of 1,000 registered voters found that a significant number of people expect that extreme measures may be necessary to protect against government overreach. 28 percent of respondents agreed with the statement that “it may be necessary at some point soon for citizens to take up arms against the government.” Thirty-six percent of Republicans, 35 percent of independents, and 20 percent of Democrats agreed.

Insurrection Clown Show

Since there will be no commission similar to the 9/11 commission around the insurrection of 06 January…Pelosi has decided to have a House Select Committee….and McCarthy has named the GOP Reps that will be on this commission……

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy has made his selections for the five lawmakers he will appoint to the select committee probing the January 6 attack on the US Capitol. Jim Banks of Indiana, chair of the Republican Study Committee, will lead the group, whose other members will be Rodney Davis of Illinois (top Republican on the House Administration Committee), Jim Jordan of Ohio (top Republican on the House Judiciary Committee), Kelly Armstrong of North Dakota (a lawyer who was on the House Judiciary Committee when then-President Trump was first impeached), and Troy Nehls of Texas (a former sheriff who helped Capitol Police get rioters away from the House floor).

They won’t be the only Republicans on the committee; Liz Cheney was among the eight members named by Democrats. Politico notes McCarthy has chosen experienced lawmakers who will likely have no trouble countering Democrats on the committee. All five voted against impeaching Trump after the Capitol riot, and three voted to overturn the 2020 presidential election results. They’ll need to be approved by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, the Washington Post reports. The first hearing will be held July 27. In a statement Monday night cited by the AP, Banks said, “Make no mistake, Nancy Pelosi created this committee solely to malign conservatives and to justify the Left’s authoritarian agenda.”

3 of the GOP basically refuse to say that Biden won the election…..these slugs should add to the absurdity to the proceedings.

Now do you see why I say it will be a clown show…..with the GOP providing the clowns.

I like the comment of the authoritarian Left as well…..if you believe that BS then you are definitely a Trump supporter and a moron.

I expect nothing from this committee other antics and silliness that has defined the GOP since 2010.

Do You Want To Stop The BS In Government?

WE all know of the antics going on in DC….all the back and forth about bi-partisanship…..the silly games played by some in the Congress….all in all our government is truly a political circus….it has been called that for decades and now they have sent in the clowns.

There is a simple way for all this partisanship and obstruction to end.

It would fall in the laps of corporate America.

If corporations were truly part of this country and the processes then they could step forward and turn off the money spigot to ALL politicians until they learn to play nice and get stuff done that is needed in this country.

That means all funds to politicians, lobbyists and think tanks until they show the progress of bi-partisanship….that means ALL groups that try and influence the political discourse.

After all the Supreme Court has rules that corporations are ‘people’ as well (think Citizens United).

Corporations have been doing well thanx to this corrupt system and now it is time for them to step forward and prove they are an American entity.

In the days of the Civil Rights Movement corporations flexed their muscle and pushed the LBJ admin tom pass and then sign the Act….why?  The protests were costing them lots of money and their profits needed protecting.

These entities could do it again….especially now when they possess all the political power.

If they do not assist in the establishing rationality in the process then they should be pressured by all means necessary….taxation, sanctions anything that will get their laser focused attention…..

If they want to preserve those obscene profits then they need to become a participant other than throwing money at politicians.

There has been an attempt to get corporate American to wake up and do the right thing for the country…..an open letter…..

This ‘memo’ is about the voter suppression laws being passed in states on a lie….but it could be extended to encompass all the partisan BS……

It seems that after years of Trump basically begging for a Nobel prize his son-in-law has been nominated…..

The Trump family will have a rooting interest in the 2021 Nobel Peace Prize. Jared Kushner has been nominated for the honor for his work in normalizing relations between Israel and four Arab nations, reports Reuters. The nomination of former President Trump’s son-in-law came from attorney Alan Dershowitz, who has the clout to make a formal pick as a professor emeritus at Harvard. Dershowitz, who represented Trump at his first impeachment trial, also nominated Kushner aide Avi Berkowitz over the Abraham Accords, in which the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Sudan, and Morocco recognized Israel’s sovereignty, per Business Insider. Other high-profile nominees this year include teen climate activist Greta Thunberg and Russian dissident Alexei Navalny, according to a separate Reuters story.

“The Nobel Peace Prize is not for popularity,” wrote Dershowitz, appearing to acknowledge his nomination will be controversial because of the Trump connections. “Nor is it an assessment of what the international community may think of those who helped bring about peace. It is an award for fulfilling the daunting criteria set out by Alfred Nobel in his will.” For context, when the first deal between the UAE and Israel was struck, frequent Trump critic Thomas Friedman wrote that the deal was a “geopolitical earthquake” in a good way. It was close to being on par with Anwar Sadat going to Jerusalem and Yasir Arafat shaking the hand of Yitzhak Rabin, the New York Times columnist wrote at the time. The prize committee usually puts out a short list in the spring, with the winner to be announced in October.

First of all…..what the Hell did he accomplish?

His deal with the Arabs was basically a stick and carrot con….they either sign deals with Israel or lose their high rating for new weapons….Sudan got taken off the terror sponsorship list for recognizing Israel’

Plus they totally screwed the Palestinians who should have been at the heart of any deal.

These deals were blackmail not some genius diplomatic plan to achieve peace in the region.

Jared deserves jail not a Nobel Peace Prize.
