These Numbers Prove We’re Heading For A More Progressive America | ThinkProgress

For too long us on the Left, and I am talking about the real Left, have been waiting for something to happen that would help make the people see the necessity for a more progressive government………and could there be a future quickly approaching?

If you listen closely…..we can hear their butts slamming shut!

These Numbers Prove We’re Heading For A More Progressive America | ThinkProgress.

Asshats, Clowns And Morons

Never Forget Pearl Harbor!

We here all the campaign promises of change that the candidate will bring to our country’s capital……and so far there has been NO change……and the next election will be about the change to come….and the best I can do is……laugh my ass off and I do not have much ass to lose……the fiscal policy is so important that a group of elected ones are off until next Tueday celebrating something called “Rednecks and Turtlnecks”….it is where they get together and wear tacky sweaters and drink pink martinis……glad to see the seriousness of this fiscal thing……

First, reform is NOT, I will repeat that so it is understood, NOT change!  he promise of change is nothing but a reactionary term……I know….I know….somewhere in their Mom’s basement is a little toad that will jump all over than term……well let me help you out so you do not hurt yourself with Google…….

Reactionary—-reacting to a political situation, not to be confused with change……that said….how about working on real change not that slogan at campaigning time…….reforms have done NOTHING to fix the problems in Washington……..

First, since few people like the idea to term limits, then make the boys and gals retire at the SS retirement age…..that would eliminate all the 90 and 100 year old  farts that cannot remember to unzip their pants before they pee……

Second, make the fools work at least 6 months of a year…..I mean the next House will work 126 days in 2013 or pay them as part time employees and limit their benefits….0r how about paying them piece work?  That would be major pieces of legislation not re -naming a damn post office….

Third, take away benefits like gym and cafeteria and NO more sleeping in their offices…..they want to be a big cheese then pay their way…we are asking workers to give up most of their benefits then let Congress lead the way….

Fourth, since there is so much concern over “voter fraud”…..what a snowjob that is….then the Federal government should take over all elections…regardless…….

Fifth, the secession joke…….put it on the ballot in all 50 states….if it wins then cut off ALL aid to that state and put up toll posts at every major exit and charge them to leave…..these whiny fucks deserve NOTHING!

Sixth, since today’s politicians do not know their counter parts except by name….then that needs to change…..ALL elected ones will reside in  communal complexes….this will force these dorks into some sort of relationship with all sides….

Seventh, if a Congress person is unable to fulfill their obligation to work in the frame work set up by the founders, because of illness, accident or whatever occurs, after a grace period of 90 days then they will resign or be forced out of office……if works for the corporate sector and it will work for the political sector…

These proposals may not repair the damage that the asshats, clowns and morons have inflicted on the country…..it could not hurt…..maybe then we would see who is in it for the country or for themselves………my bet is on the later.

NOTE:  A copy of this post has been emailed to members of Congress and if they would like to justify their lack of a work ethic then I shall be glad to talk with them……..I do not write anything I would not say to their faces.  Enuff said!

When Would Enough Be Enough?

Today is Black Friday and I would imagine readership will be in the toilet….but some of us just cannot seem to take a break….I know….it is a sickness….LOL

There comes a time in everyone’s life when certain things become overwhelming and a limit has been reached and something has to change….but (there is always a but) when does one arrive at that point in one’s life?

My question is for those within the GOP….they have flirted with everybody that has entered into the fray but Mitt…..and sad to say…they need to wake up and realize that Mitt will be their candidate to face Obama in November….but there is reasons why their flirtation with the others is short lived…..

1. The endless debates expose everyone’s flaws
The Republican presidential candidates are slugging it out in an unprecedented series of debates — “10 so far, with another 12 scheduled,” says Ewen MacAskill at Britain’s Guardian. All that exposure has “changed the dynamic of the nomination race, making and breaking candidates.” Rick Perry’s poor debate performances sunk him. On TV, every weakness is amplified. Millions of viewers tune in to every installment of this new brand of reality TV, where they can curl up on the couch, “enjoyably awaiting the next gaffe.”

2. Intense media scrutiny reveals their shortcomings
Republicans like Perry and Cain have more than conservatism in common, says Adam Silbert at Politico. They’re also “newcomers to the national political stage.” And once a candidate emerges from the cellar and starts rising in the polls, says Jennifer Rubin at The Washington Post, suddenly he starts receiving more scrutiny. That means “sharper questions” and “more barbs” from opponents. Most of these guys just couldn’t handle the pressure. Now, “with time running out before the Jan. 3 Iowa caucuses,” Silbert says, “a frustrated Republican Party seems willing to revisit its customary formula of nominating” a known candidate who has “paid his dues and waited his turn” — the “smart, familiar Gingrich.”

3. Clearly, the media is trying to help Obama
“The mainstream media keep pushing alternatives” to Romney because “they are terrified of running against him,” says Ann Coulter at Townhall. Liberal journalists just want to keep Republicans fighting. It’s obvious now that they’re trying to sell us Gingrich, the former House speaker who had an affair while trying to impeach Bill Clinton and called “Paul Ryan’s plan to save Social Security ‘right-wing social engineering.'” Conservatives need to stop being purists and get behind Romney, because he’s “the only Republican who has a shot at beating Obama.”

4. The GOP field is just abysmal
There’s no mystery about why every conservative flavor-of-the-month has gone down in flames, says Markos Moulitsas at The Hill. Bachmann’s baggage was her “craziness”; Perry’s was his “utter failure to string two sentences together”; Cain’s fatal flaw was his “comically bad” handling of sexual harassment allegations. The only reason Republicans are embracing Gingrich, whose pile of negatives made them laugh him off before, is that “it’s late in the game and they’re desperate.” Really, “there’s no greater indictment of the GOP field than the fact that while voters might be desperate for a Romney alternative, no permanent host can be found.

I do not know if you will agree with the list or not….but there are the reasons that could explain why there has been so many flash in the pan in the GOP search for a candidate…Repubs need to wake up and stop looking for that red meat…..your candidate will be plain vanilla (to quote Herman Cain)….

I will admit that all this up and down makes great fodder for the MSM….but to the rest of us it is just plain silly……when everyone knows that the only hope that the GOP will have in November is with Mitt.

Advice For The OWS Crowd

I feel rejuvenated by the movement that is underfoot…..it makes me think of days gone by…the 60’s and 70’s…….it does my old radical good to see that all is NOT lost…that Americans, especially the young, still have the balls to face down the government in times of crisis…….

I want to give them some sage advice from the my days on the protest lines….first, recall back about 3 years ago and the original Tea Party….Ron Paul and his supporters were very local and very successful in their attacks on the staus quo……..and then because they were so successful the corporate think tanks and PACs began taking over the message and co-opted it into the extreme and sometimes racist group that is in the forefront now…..

I had been sitting in front of the PC trying to find the words and the method for me to issue my advice without sounding like some condescending asshole….I have been trying  for a couple of weeks and each one of my drafts sounded more like a sermon than some good advice….but the internet to the rescue…..then I found an article written by Andrew Gavin Marshall…….

While I fully endorse the efforts and actions of the Occupy Wall Street protests, now emerging internationally, there are concerns which need to be addressed and kept in mind as the movement moves forward. The process through which a potentially powerful movement may be co-opted and controlled is slight and subtle. If Occupy Wall Street hopes to strive for the 99%, it must not submit to the 1%, in any capacity.

The Occupy movement must prevent what happened to the Tea Party movement to happen to it. Whatever ideological stance you may have, the Tea Party movement started as a grass roots movement, largely a result of anti-Federal Reserve protests. They were quickly co-opted with philanthropic money and political party endorsements.

For the Occupy Movement to build up and become a true force for change, it must avoid and reject the organizational and financial ‘contributions’ of institutions: be they political parties, non-profits, or philanthropic foundations. The efforts are subtle, but effective: they seek to organize, professionalize, and institutionalize a movement, push forward the issues they desire, which render the movement useless for true liberation, as these are among the very institutions the movement should be geared against.

Read his full article here……http://t.co/aMP56eTI

It is a very good piece and plenty for the OWS protesters to consider….Please do NOT let the “man”  take over the movement….for when that happens we all will lose…..STAY STRONG…….STAY FOCUSED……STAY PEACEFUL…..and watch your backs!

What A Silly Notion!

Once again, my days of Zen are interrupted by the extreme silliness of politics…….

Today is 17 September and is officially Constitution Day….personally, this is the day that we should celebrate with a national holiday……why?  It is the day that the Constitutional Convention signed the US Constitution into being…….it should be celebrated because it brought into existence a unique form of government that has been copied world wide….it deserves a day more so than some of the ones we have now….but that is a debate for another day…….

Why do I bring this up?  There seems to be some that are calling for the scraping of our Constitution and the writing of a new one, a more modern one, a more up to date one…….here is one of those people……http://bit.ly/lxHzYC

What do you think?

Personally, I think it is just plain silly!  Why?  Can you imagine that convention?  Our politicians cannot agree on anything substantial and we want them to update our constitution?  (pause here for the inevitable laughter)……can you imagine the silliness that would ensure trying to make a document that effects ALL citizens?  Can you imagine of the absurdities that extremists would want to include in a new constitution?  Look at the total waste of time and effort in Washington today….would a constitutional convention be any different?

Has the Magna Carta been “updated”?

You think we have a theater of the absurd now in Washington….but it would look like statesmanlike debate compared to the totally ridiculous of a constitutional convention….we would not need Comedy Central anymore, the convention would foot that bill to a tee.

You Want Change?

In 2008 we all fell for the con job of change and hope…..we have had neither in almost 3 years and now we are about to enter into the 2012 primary season…..and once again I hear the word change being thrown around but this time it is from the Right.

I have written a couple of post on a way to achieve REAL change not the veiled promises of bought and paid for politicians…….You Want Change?  Then read these posts first…..http://t.co/18gNDYo

That one post has other post referenced…please read them…they will help explain where I am coming from….

There are others who feel as I do….that this system of picking our leaders is useless and antiquated…….

The following criteria are listed in [an] LWV study:

  • Ensure majority rule. Most major political races currently can be won with only a plurality.
  • Encourage minority representation, where minority is defined by either party or cultural
  • affiliation.
  • Encourage fair gender representation.
  • Produce fair and accurate representation of diverse political views in legislatures.
  • Increase voter participation.
  • Encourage geographical representation.
  • Encourage “sincere” voting, as opposed to “strategic” voting.
  • Maximize effective votes/minimize “wasted” votes.
  • Provide a reasonable range of voter choice.
  • Prevent fraud and political manipulation.
  • Encourage competitive elections

–League of Women Voters in Oregon, Criteria for Evaluating Election Systems, Election Methods: Review of Alternatives and Oregon, Proposals, Executive Summary

All these are reasonable and logical and rational changes that could go a long way to changing the way that we are governed….the system we have now is NOT doing the people of the US any good….it only perpetuates the exploitation of the voter……

Like I have said…there are several others that have valid ideas for giving the people the final voice in the governing of the country…..try this one on……http://t.co/7U8uCSZ   ……..A group named “Get Out Of Our House (GOOOH)”…..personally I think that they are on to something here….

Anything has GOT to be better than the joke, the circus that we have now!

Thoughts?

We Must Challenge The System

College of Political Knowledge

Today is Bastille Day, July 14, the French equivalent to our Independence Day…..and since it started a revolution I thought I would give a few thoughts……

Everybody wants change!  Repubs want the entitlement system changed…..Dems want the financial system changed……and the people want change…..the problem is the politicians want change and know what they want to change….the people are another story….they want change but have NO idea what change they want….. we would have a lot fewer political and economic problems if the voter knew what they were doing when they cast their vote……..and there is the rub…….they have NO idea what they want or even what they are doing when it comes to the country and its governing style…..

I have been lecturing, writing, analyzing and teaching about politics for a long time and the one thing that has been constant is the complete ignorance of the voter…….

If the American people want to take back the government then they need to challenge the system we have today….this can be done by pushing for the end of the electoral college, pushing for term limits, demand participatory democracy and finally, demand an end to all the money in the campaigns and a shortened campaign season…..none of this would be easy….but it can change our country and our system and return it to the government….of the people, for the people and by the people……

You can call this a revolution if you want to….does not matter……but remember the word revolution does not necessarily mean an armed insurrection……and now you are thinking what a crock of crap I am feeding you, right?

Okay, I can live with that…..but ask yourself what are some of the common causes of a revolution?

Do not hurt yourself…..the leading cause of a revolution is an unmanageable national debt and a grossly inequitable process of taxation and food scarcity and a reactionary persecution of religious dissenters……there more but these seem to be the most common….these were there for the French revolution and the Russian…..if the state promises but cannot deliver on those promises………..and if you look carefully they are here in the country we all love…….the conditions are taking shape…..

It is time for the people and especially the politicians, to realize that this country is teetering….and all this game playing in Washington could be the finally shove that could be fatal….it is our country….let us make it better for all!

Why Not Change The Constitution?

There seems to be a general viewpoint that we should change the Constitution in one way or the other……change it to reflect the pro-life stand or maybe to make sure that sharia law does not take hold or maybe we should change it to truly reflect equality that was promised (we can debate that part at a later date)….why not change the constitution?  Why not crap on the ideals of the founders?

I know…I know…that was a bit too much….but is it really?  There is a wealth of people out there that would change it in a second……but now ask what would we gain?

But if we try to change the constitution too much we could have the authoritarian rule that some are searching for……take a look at what Hungary has done when they fundamentally changed their constitution……

The new constitution will give Hungary, which currently holds the presidency of the EU, a legal framework in which nationalist and religious factors are decisive. The constitution reeks of Christian fundamentalist and nationalist ideology, which Fidesz calls the “national creed”. Hungarian lawyers have warned against underestimating the scope of the changes. The right to utilise a referendum to oppose political decisions has been considerably restricted. Generally, a referendum can no longer be instigated by popular demand, but only through a majority in parliament. Referendums calling for constitutional changes or to amend election law are completely excluded.

The most far-reaching change is the curtailment of the powers of the Supreme Court. In future, all Hungarians will not have recourse to this court, and access to it is also closed to local authorities. Only the president, the government or a group of at least a quarter of parliamentarians can demand a review of legislation by the Supreme Court.

The Supreme Court judges will no longer have any authority on matters of the state budget and taxes. The judges of Hungary’s highest court can now be re-elected following the end of their term of office, which was not possible before. This aims to ensure that the judicial system is permanently controlled by Fidesz, as is the case in the media and other bodies.

Europe is dealing with the rise of the nationalistic fervor…..and this success will crap all over the common person and give all the advantages to the rich and the corporations….wait!  Does that sound familiar?  Just as the authoritarian fervor rise in Europe, it is doing so here in the good old U. S. of A.  If the American people are not vigilant we will have to deal with this type of changes to our beloved constitution…..

There is an article I recent came across that covers this subject pretty good…..warning…it is a fairly lengthy article but an excellent read on the Constitution…….

http://bit.ly/mTu6BP

While we were asleep……we will lose a good portion of the rights and freedoms that our Founding Fathers want us to have…..can anyone say…..”tyranny of the minority”?

The Circle Is Unbroken

College of Political Knowledge

Subject:  2010 Election Series

Lecture #1

This is the first in a week long series dealing with the 2010 mid-terms……..

As the mid-term elections of 2010 quickly approach (one week to be exact), there are a few things that voters need to know….(not that anyone will listen…but what the Hell!)

As we travel down the road to recovery or the road of destruction, depending on which side of the aisle that you stand, we see that NOTHING imaginable is anything new…..look at our situation…….

1–the economy of the country and especially the cities is in danger and chaos…

2–Average Americans struggle daily to make ends meet…

3–Legislators bought and sold by large corporations….

4–One misguided tax scheme after another….

5–Governmental bureaucrats catering to special interests….

6–Politicians mouthing empty slogans of concern for the country

7–A change of people in high places without any substantive change in policy…

Re-read the list….does that about sum up some of the problems we face as a country?  If so, then little has changed…for those symptoms of a wounded society were published by the People’s Bicentennial Commission on April of 1975…..

Merry Christmas….for all your concern…and all your hard work to elect this person or that and look….NOTHING has changed…..I do not care which one of the lame parties you choose….NONE are actually helping the American people….they only help themselves at the public trough…..

Why has nothing changed?  Your elected officials want to keep the status quo…it is their life’s blood…and it will NEVER change until the American people demand it and do it themselves…..they need to find and elect people that will truly work in their favor…find a way to take the money out of the political process and then we may find individuals that are really concerned with the direction of the country…..

If you approve of corporatism and favoritism and corruption and games…then by all means….sit back and take your whipping like a man….if this is not to your liking…. then get off your butt and help find the answers to return the US to its place in the world….After 35 years…what has been accomplished?  Not too damn much…granted one sector is making out like a bandit (pun intended)…….meanwhile the middle class is slowly circling the drain….all with the help of the people YOU have elected……elected?  Is that what you call the buying of representation?  You have NOTHING to do with the running of this country….if you did you would be much better off financially than you are today.

So by all means, keep voted for the endless line of idiots and thieves….I am talking about the ALL, Repub and Dem, and you can leave your children NOTHING as their inheritance when they run the country…..(now there is a scary thought…..people who think Jackass is entertainment will be running the country)

If not…then stick your head in the sand and allow your backside to be vulnerable……and they WILL take advantage!

My…My….How Things Change

From the VOMITORIUM

Back in the day….when I was a protester….and yes I guess I was a radical….I was met with all kinds of insults from the political right and left….well it was the 70’s and I had just returned after 2 and half years in Southeast Asia and thought that my country was traveling down a dangerous path….and I as well as many others tried to change things…we were not that effective….but we did stir up a lot of emotions about the country….we protested for MORE democracy and BETTER democracy…..

I recall slogans like “My America:  Right or Wrong” and my all time fav, “America:  Love it or leave it!”  The political right was a lot more vocal than the left, but we got static there too….We were not patriotic because we wanted to change the way the country did business…..Is any of this sounding familiar to any one?

Okay, the meat of this post……where are the so-called patriots now?  I mean I and my friends were called everything from unpatriotic to goddamn commies because we did NOT like the way Washington was being handled.  My sexuality was questioned…..my education was questioned…..my associations were in question…..all in all, because I would not stand by speechless about the status quo….I was insulted…repeatedly.

We carried signs or placards with caricatures of Nixon as a pig and an emperor and  ….well you know what they were…and we were destroying the country from the inside…we were in essence a communist fifth column…

My point is…there is NOTHING new in the Tea Party…the signs, the rhetoric, just about everything has been done before…including that irritating Gadsden flag ……the difference is that NO one is calling the Teabaggers out as the Left was in the 70’s….they are seen as true patriots and concerned for their country and its direction….I just want to hear one lousy a/hole tell the Teabaggers…..America:  Love it or leave it!  This is the government that the people voted for….where is the problem you have?

If we were destroying America back in the day…then the Teabaggers are doing as much, if not more,  damage than we did to the integrity of America!  And YOU allow it!  And in my day, if a protester showed up with a weapon they were arrested, but not these days….then what made us more dangerous than the mental midget of today?   The old farts screaming in favor of the Tea Party are the same people that were calling protesters the destroyers of democracy back in the day……small world, huh?  Go figure!
