Secrets of the Right-Wing Brain: New Study Proves Conservatives See a Hostile World | Alternet

I have thought for decades that conservative brains are wired differently than us “common folk”…..and now there seems to be a bit of proof…..I believe that it takes a special kind of thinking that sees danger everywhere and then sets about finding spurious crap to confirm that belief……

There may be an answer all along….read it and weep (or laugh) your choice…..

Flight MH17…..Another Doomed Malaysian Flight

We all have heard the horrendous news of yet another Malaysian flight has met with a disastrous end……and as usual there are battling and conflicting accusations as to whom is to blame for destroying this plane and its passengers…..Separatists say it was the Ukrainians….Ukrainians say it was the Separatists….Russia is blaming the Ukraine military and the US is speculating but have not offered up an accusation as of yet….and then there is McCain, who is basically blaming Obama for the destruction of flight MH 17….because we have not sent all the weapons that he, McCain, thinks the Ukrainians need and deserve….

Personally, I think McCain is being a partisan twat….using this tragedy as a political prop is despicable….and usual McCain spends a lot of his time thumping his chest like a crazed ape….and this situation is No different……..

Newser) – With the evidence increasingly suggesting that today’s jet crash over Ukraine was caused by a missile and not a mechanical failure, John McCain is burnishing his reputation as the Senate’s top foreign policy hawk. While stressing that it’s too early to know anything for sure, McCain said on MSNBC that the crash has the “earmarks of a tragic mistake made by someone who had the capability to just shoot down an aircraft, and we know at least from the last couple of weeks that that could be Russian or separatist Russian capability,” reports Politico. If that proves to be the case, “I think there’s going to be hell to pay and there should be.”

In an appearance on CNN, he made similar points and added that it might be time to “give the Ukrainians the ability to defend themselves,” reports Slate. In Moscow, meanwhile, Vladimir Putin pinned the blame squarely on Ukraine, though he was speaking in general terms: “I want to note that this tragedy would not have happened if there were peace on this land, if the military actions had not been renewed in southeast Ukraine,” he said. “And, certainly, the state over whose territory this occurred bears responsibility for this awful tragedy.” The AP has the full text of his remarks.

As typical of McCain he rattles off some vague BS and the NeoCons applaud…….but what is the Hell they will pay?  He conveniently leaves out any details….another typical McCain ploy

McCain is getting tiresome……plus only the most radical and ignorant among us take him seriously anymore…he use to be a statesman….now he is just an angry old man that plays way too many games.

Battle Of The NeoCon Stars……..

We once had the Battle of the Network Stars and now we have the Battle of the Neo Cons…….and the later is the most humorous of the two……we have Rand Paul, Rick Perry and the most delusional of the neo cons, Dick Cheney all attacking each other over something that none of them understands beyond…they are right and everyone else is wrong…..a great foreign policy, right?

Iraq is a pile of manure and everyone has a plan for dealing with the situation…..let’s start with the Liar in Chief, Dick Cheney……most semi-intelligent people now realize that Rumsfeld, Bush, Rice and Cheney lied their fool heads off just so we could go to war with Iraq and even though there is few that believe anything this toad has to say he is still allowed to be some sort of expert interviewed by the MSM………….and his talking points are all the same…..

Invading Iraq was prudent.

George W. Bush waged the war successfully.

Barack Obama is responsible for the chaos in Iraq today.

America needs to wage war in at least three countries and spend more on the military.

Either he is the most delusional person I have ever covered or is an arrogant prick that is NEVER wrong……..my money is on the later.

Now we look at the duel being waged between Gov. Perry and Sen. Paul on foreign policy…….

We’ve got a few years yet before 2016, but two potential GOP candidates are already taking shots at each other in dueling foreign policy pieces. Texas Gov. Rick Perry got the party started with a Washington Post op-ed, in which he attacked Sen. Rand Paul for being “curiously blind” to the national security threat posed by the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria. Paul, Perry argues in the piece, advocates doing “next to nothing” to confront the situation, whereas Perry would prefer to take action. That action, he writes, could include “intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance sharing” as well as airstrikes.

Paul took to Politico to offer a batch of what Slate calls “snappy insults” in return. If Paul is “blind” on ISIS, then Perry’s “new glasses haven’t altered his perception of the world, or allowed him to see it any more clearly,” Paul writes. He accuses Perry of getting his views so wrong that “I wonder if he’s even really read any of my policy papers.” The truth, he notes, is that the US is already involved in or considering the strategies Perry supports, and Paul has laid out a number of proposals himself. “If the governor continues to insist that these proposals mean I’m somehow ‘ignoring ISIS,’ I’ll make it my personal policy to ignore Rick Perry’s opinions.” Click for Perry’s piece, or for Paul’s piece.

The MSM sez that these two are practicing their foreign policy muscle ahead of the 2016 election…..to that I scoff!  neither of these men show me that they have any grip on the concept of international relations……it sounds like they are regurgitating talking points from the RNC.

Sorry, but unless you have a complete grasp on what the term “international relations” actually means then maybe they should shut the Hell up and go back to Obamacare lies……

Iraq Pack Is Back!

The boys with the long noses are back in action…..the Iraq Pack (Colbert’s term….wish I had thought of it) those individuals that spent so much time back in 2002 and 2003 making us chomp at the bits to go after Saddam…..all th lies….the yellow cake thing…the aluminum tubes….the illustrations of mushroom clouds and the biggest piece of crap was that Saddam had teamed up with Al-Qaeda…..and most of us bought it hook line and sinker….the mouths of Cheney, Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz, and the first lady of bullsh*t, Condie…

And after 10 years of relative silence….they are back and claiming damn near the same things that they lied about in 2003…….amnesia or just megalomania?

First, our ex-VP had much to say about Iraq and what to do……..

You have to hand it to Dick Cheney. How many people, knowing what has happened in Iraq over the last 12 years, would dare to write an op-ed in The Wall Street Journal containing this line: “Rarely has a U.S. president been so wrong about so much at the expense of so many” — and not be talking about George W. Bush?

Cheney was the war’s chief propagandist, who told the American public more spectacular falsehoods than anyone, including Bush himself. Cheney was the one who told us in 2002 that “Simply stated, there is no doubt that Saddam Hussein now has weapons of mass destruction. There is no doubt he is amassing them to use against our friends, against our allies, and against us.”  (in case you have forgotten)

“You’ve got to go back and look at the track record. We inherited a situation where there was no doubt in anybody’s mind about the extent of Saddam’s involvement in weapons of mass destruction. We had a situation where, after 9/11, we were concerned about a follow-up attack. It would involve not just airline tickets and box cutters as the weapons, but rather something far deadlier, perhaps even a nuclear weapon.”

Is he really that clueless?

Then there is Bremer the ex president of the provisional Iraqi government before elections…..when interviewed by CNN’s Erin Burnett……

Bremer penned an op-ed for The Wall Street Journal under the headline “Only America Can Prevent a Disaster in Iraq,” in which he argued for some form of U.S. troops on the ground there. After 4,490 American lives lost and $1.7 trillion spent, Burnett asked him, “How can you advocate any more people, any more lives going to risk for that country?”

“Because it’s in our interest,” Bremer responded matter-of-factly, going to elaborate that the U.S. cannot allow Iraq to become a home base for terrorists like those that constitute the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria.

American lives mean NOTHING to these toads……..

Ever notice that John McCain’s comments on every war scenario is….”blah blah….airstrikes….blah blah blah blah….airstrikes….blah blah…..”  You know the more he talks the more I feel like he could very well be our next problem…….I feel like his pro war rhetoric is just instigating the next 9/11…..

There you have a couple of the Iraq Pack….making the case to return to a war footing in Iraq…….even though the American people are dead set against a return of our forces in Iraq….the GOP still tries to make the case for intervention…..and they are still using the same tactics and lies they did originally…..even though the American people are on to them…..I am waiting for there to be some sort of proof that WMDs are being considered….that would be the broken straw needed for our return to the region……

Now ask…….how long before the media starts acting as the spokesperson for intervention?  This will be the key.

These people are in denial and delusional a dangerous combo…..they will say or do anything to get the country to overreact and thus they can say they were right all along……..it is all about their legacies….not the security of the country.

What Price Syria

Okay the news is in….chemical weapons have been used and it appears it was the Assad people that did the dirty deed….and now all the neocons are screaming about the US needs to do something and soon…….Assad has to be punished for this breach of civility…….one of the most loud people is Corker from Tennessee…..

The alleged chemical attack in Syria continues to reverberate today, with members of Congress hitting the Sunday talk show rodeo to call for action—or restraint, reports Politico. Leading the charge for action was Bob Corker, the ranking Republican on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, who said he believes chemical agents were used and “I think we will respond in a surgical way. Something that gets their attention, that causes them to understand that we are not going to put up with this kind of activity.” Corker’s Democrat counterpart in the House, Eliot Engel, was equally hawkish, saying, “We have to move, and we have to move quickly. Congress needs to be involved, but perhaps not initially.” There were calls for caution, however: Rhode Island Democrat Jack Reed said he wants to “verify that it was directed by the Assad regime because that will allow us to build an international coalition,” while Texas Republican Mike McCaul worried about public support for action, saying, “I don’t think that American people have an appetite to put troops on the ground in Syria.”

First let me say…..I am tired of the douche bags saying “boots on the ground”……we are talking about American lives and to use that offensive term is just a way to pretend that they are talking about something other than humans….

Next, here is an idea….all you dorks that are so willing to send in the Army need to take one of your famous fact finding missions to Syria….they won’t…they are cowards and do not want to put themselves in harms way but are more than willing to send others to do their dirty work….sicken pricks and that goes for ALL of them Senor, Bolton, Cheney and any other asshat that are quick to jump…..

Time for the rest of the “free” world to step up and do what is needed and let the US watch while they succumb to the hype….but for now ….we wait….we wait to see just how far the US will push itself on Syria….will it become yet another war or will it be a limited excursion?

Are They Selling A War?

Are you weary if the news coming out of Syria?  You might want to pay attention because if people ( I use the term loosely) like McCain has his way we will be in a shooting war that American soldiers will pay the price of his hubris……..and all this concern for the Syrian people is nothing…it is as disingenuous as they were with Iraq.

The news is not good.  We have info that someone somewhere used chemical weapons (WMDs) in Syria…..of course the neocons are taking every opportunity to push for some sort of American intervention…….especially McCain, the one person that knows first hand what war can do to an individual…..but he and his wing man Graham just keep scratching at the scab……and now the neocon talking heads are making the rounds on the news talk shows spouting the pro-invention BS………and the MSM is abetting the neocons in their push for action by continuing to use the alleged use of chemical weapons in any report they do on Syria……..

Even the president in a recent speech admits that it is not common knowledge that these weapons were used…….his words were do not who, where or how these weapons were used only that there is evidence of varying degrees of confidence……so but to me that is Washington speak for…..we have no idea.

NO one has any idea if these weapons were actually used……regardless that there is no concrete evidence that it was the Assad regime…..The UN is NOT echoing the neocons accusations…….

(Newser) – Another game-changer? One of the United Nations’ chief investigators says evidence is building that sarin gas was used in the Syrian conflict—but by rebels, not Bashar al-Assad’s regime. “Our investigators have been in neighboring countries interviewing victims, doctors, and field hospitals” and “there are strong, concrete suspicions but not yet incontrovertible proof of the use of sarin gas,” said Carla Del Ponte, a member of a panel probing alleged Syrian war crimes, Reuters reports. “This was use on the part of the opposition, the rebels, not by the government authorities,” she adds.

The war crimes inquiry commission Del Ponte is involved with is separate from the main UN probe into chemical weapons use in Syria. Each side accused the other of using chemical weapons during fighting in Aleppo in March, while Britain and France say they have evidence that regime forces used nerve agents in attacks on rebels. In other developments:

  • Israeli airstrikes on targets inside Syria in recent days have killed at least 42 government soldiers, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights tells the AP. Israel today emphasized that the strikes were not meant to aid rebels, Reuters adds, but rather to block weapons from Hezbollah.
  • The Israeli move renewed debate on whether the US should use airstrikes against the Assad regime, the New York Times reports. John McCain, who yesterday blasted President Obama’s “red line” as being “written in disappearing ink,” said the strikes show that Syria’s air defense system may not be much of an obstacle.
  • Opposition activists say rebel forces shot down a military helicopter last night, killing eight government troops, the AP reports. The regime’s air power has long been a chief target of rebels and activists say rebels also attacked and occupied parts of an air base in the north of the country yesterday, killing the base’s commander and capturing a tank unit.

Israel is doing its part to draw the US into this conflict…….but beyond that….if you have been in the ME you would notice that everyone uses a cel phone and to think the chem weapons were used and no one put photos of the web is plain stupid……if the weapons had been used there would be evidence by now…….will this shut up people like McCain?  Doubtful!  He is Hell bent on involving the US in another war it cannot win.

To me this is just a PR job to get the American people to be on board with military intervention in Syria……it has been used successfully in the past and there is no indication that they will not use it in the future or even today.

Those Elusive WMDs (Again)

As promised I am focusing on the doings in the Middle East this week….there is more happening than we are aware of or told by our cracker jack media……..

McCain and his echo chamber Lindsey Graham have been beating the war drum for a couple of days now……this time it is Syria and the use of chemical weapons…..of course the line they feed us is they are so concerned with the poor people of Syria, not the push for outright military action……these two and anyone who regurgitates their fecal matter are disingenuous pricks…..

Recently the news was full of the stories of the use of chemical weapons by Assad against his own people…..and McCain and his little surrogate have been making the rounds in the media puking their war crap with the hopes the American people will buy their line…..but the truth is that NO one knows for sure if or on whom they were actually used…..

White House said that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad was believed “with varying degrees of confidence” to have used chemical weapons and had “demonstrated a willingness to escalate its horrific use of violence” against the people of his country engaged in a two-year-old civil war.

My problem with this whole thing centers around a couple of words in the statement…….”believed” and “with various degrees of confidence”……that is doublespeak, Washington bullshit.

Obama has gone in front of the cameras and said….

“What we now have is evidence that chemical weapons have been used inside of Syria, but we don’t know how they were used, when they were used [or] who used them,”

Okay, what is the evidence?  (a question that has no answer at this time)……..sounds like all they have is someone’s word for it without much evidence……

McCain and the neocon echo chamber demand something be done but not one has an idea of what that action should be……..so someone tell me how to rid Syria of his chemical weapons……what action would be appropriate?

Here is an idea…..do NOT use bombs, drones or rockets!  The last thing the people of Syria needs is someone blowup a Sarin gas store and release it into the atmosphere…..then McCain will truly have something to rant about…….

Just once I would like to hear a solution to the problem from warhawks….other than the US needs to act and act now.  A short sighted response will surely get Americans killed and that seldom seems to be a concern of our lunatic Right…….and yet they are supported by many…makes one fear for the sanity of our politics.

Haven’t we had enough of these elusive WMDs?

You Want Scary?

The rightwing media has been scaring the piss out of the American people for years now……..Obama is a secret Muslim….Obama is a socialist…..Obama wants to brainwash your kids….brainwashing ….now there is a good subject for a post…..Beck, Limbaugh, Huckabee,  et al have been giving all kinds of scenarios….but brainwashing is my favorite…..

After all the scary stuff these whack jobs have been throwing at us….there is a new one that really scares me to no end……Newser is reporting on this scary scenario……

If you think Sesame Street is too left-wing, Glenn Beck agrees with you—and he’s offering an alternative on his Internet channel GBTV. Beck won’t be hosting Liberty Treehouse, which debuts Monday, but the hour-long show will share his channel’s conservative sensibilities, and won’t shy away from dealing with politics, Politico reports. Much of the show’s content resembles Nickelodeon fare, with segments on science and issues like bullying as well as a large block of children’s news. “Liberty Treehouse will not only entertain children and young adults, but it will respect them and their knowledge and passion for history, art, science and current events,” Beck says. Critics, however, say it’s hypocritical of Beck to move into children’s programming after all his ranting about progressives indoctrinating the young. “I imagine the show will be a sort of anti-Sesame Street, which Beck probably thinks is a socialist-Islamist plot concocted by Frances Fox Piven and the Ayatollah in the 1970s,” scoffs Alexander Zaitchik, author of Common Nonsense: Glenn Beck and the Triumph of Ignorance.

Can you just imagine the misinformation that will be taught to the young?  These are impressionable minds and the stuff he will force feed them will last a lifetime and impact our society in more ways than we can imagine and NONE of them good…..so if you want scary….how is this?

Don’t Look Now, But It Is A Neo-Conserevative!

College of Political Knowledge

Subject:  Political Theory/Government/Conservatism

Paper #42

Shall we return to sanity?  The elections are over and now we need to return to reality…….

Neo-conservative or as we call them today, NEOCONS….why?  Apparently we are too damn lazy to say the whole phrase and must shorten it for our personal ease…..

I have come to a point where I am sick of people calling themselves conservatives when they are not really…..they do not believe, for instance, they feel that American society is breaking down because of sexual liberation, multiculturalism, political correctness and a culture of dependency.  Neocons believe that other countries are envious of the democracy in the US….and that it is the US place in history to , basically, thrust democracy on others, willing or not…..G.W. Bush is a good example of neo-conservative thinking….he had a strong conviction to advance American values (whatever those are)….he had a ruthless pursuit of American interests, no matter the course and exploited the politics of fear to justify any and all actions…….

Okay let us look at this more simply…..the “new” NeoCons…the Teabaggers….have many of the same leanings as their predecessors……traditionalism, authoritarianism, social order, traditional values (there is that word again), strong state, these are the things that most of the “newbies” in Washington are yelling about…..it is there way or the highway and that will eliminate any compromise to get the country moving again……social order which will be tested if these people get their way in the next couple of years…..well you get my point here…..

My problem with this whole movement is that hey are incoherent in their policy stands….there seems to be NO ideology or said principles….they have attached themselves to anger to win a position in Washington…that does not bide well for the American people….no matter how angry the electorate is voting from anger in place of knowledge is just plain ignorant and self-defeating……

Gandhi was right when he observed:   “Anger and intolerance are the enemies of correct understanding.”  Pretty much proves my point….at least in the recent past.
