Closing thought–14May21

We all know the BS swirling around the Right about the 2020 election…that it was illegitimate……but there is a group of retired officers that have stepped all over the Constitution….that document that they swore an oath to protect……they signed a letter to Pres. Biden about the talking points on the lunatic Right…..

More than 120 retired US military leaders have signed an open letter appearing to advance a false conspiracy theory that the 2020 election was rigged and questioning President Joe Biden’s mental capacity to serve.

“Without fair and honest elections that accurately reflect the ‘will of the people’ our Constitutional Republic is lost,” said the letter released Tuesday by “Flag Officers 4 America,” and signed by 124 former admirals and generals.

“The FBI and Supreme Court must act swiftly when election irregularities are surfaced and not ignore them as was done in 2020.

On its website, Flag Officers 4 America says it is a collection of “retired military leaders who pledged to support and defend the Constitution of the US against all enemies, foreign and domestic.”

In the letter, the signatories, many of whom have been out of active service for decades, also addressed concerns over Biden’s health.

This illustrates just how deep the lunacy goes…..when people that swore to protect the Constitution  try to overturn a valid election.

They are spreading the Trumpian lies and the manure of stupidity….they are ignore the oath they took and like most fools with Trump an oath means nothing unless it pertains to Donald the Orange.

McChrystal Should Go

Daily Agitator

By now the media is flooded with so called experts analyzing everything that the US commander in Afghanistan has said, especially in his latest gaff in an issue of the Rolling Stone……it seems that he has disparagingly made some unfortunate comments about the President, VP, Adm. Mullen, the head of the CIA and others.

I have heard many call for McChrystal’s head when he meets with the president.  And I have heard some call his words unfortunate and lame, but that he should remain at his post in Afghanistan.

He has been commanded to appear in person at the White House for an official meeting and a private meeting with the president.  This will be strike three.  His first strike was a leaked memo where he said that the prez was unprepared and intimidated by the brass.  Next, he made some really unfortunate statements that the prez met him in London and held a meeting on Air Force One.  So today’s meeting is strike three and in baseball we all know what that means.

But shoulkd he go or should he stay?

According to the Uniform Code of Military Justice…..he should go.  Why?

§ 888. Art. 88. Contempt toward officials

Any commissioned officer who uses contemptuous words against the President, the Vice President, Congress, the Secretary of Defense, the Secretary of a military department, the Secretary of Homeland Security, or the Governor or legislature of any State, Territory, Commonwealth, or possession in which he is on duty or present shall be punished as a court-martial may direct.

Pretty straight forward.  Now if this had been a ranking NCO or some private, he would get busted in rank and some would be given a discharge….none would be allowed to retire to avoid punitive action!

But if McChrystal leaves the military he will be allowed to resign so that he can keep his dignity and his pension and all the benefits that go with the word general.  Personally, he should be barbecued for insubordination and made an example of for future morons that cannot keep their mouths shut when dealing with the media.

McCain And National Security

The most senior retired military officer to back the presumed Democratic presidential nominee, Sen. Barack Obama, says the first-term U.S. senator will not give Sen. John McCain, a decorated war hero, a pass on the issue of national security in the fall campaign.

“It doesn’t take very long to uncover national security issues that McCain is weak on,” retired Air Force Gen. Merrill McPeak told The Washington Times.

“For McCain to think he has a monopoly on virtue in the national security issue is going to be shown a pretty flimsy idea very quickly,” he said of the probable Republican nominee.

A Rasmussen poll released Friday showed voters giving Mr. McCain of Arizona a big edge over Mr. Obama on the question of who would make the best commander in chief.

“When it comes to the war in Iraq, McCain is trusted more by 49 percent of voters,” the Rasmussen Report said. “Obama is preferred by 37 percent. McCain has an even larger edge – 53 percent to 31 percent – on the broader topic of National Security. These results are little changed from a month ago.”

McCain strategists think their candidate’s steadfast backing for the war in Iraq will produce dividends on Election Day now that the troop surge appears to be defeating al Qaeda and bolstering the new democratic government in Baghdad.
