Jack Boots And Root Beer

There seems to be a disconnect between what Donny says and what is happening in the ground these days.  We are told that these are riots and all the news points to protests…..so far I have seen nothing that I would say is a riot.

But the reality on the ground be damn….Donny is going to push this fake riot bullshit for all it is worth….and in all 50 states and most territories.

The National Guard has begun setting up “quick-reaction” riot police forces in all the states, reports the Wall Street Journal and the Guardian.

  • Each unit will typically have about 500 Guard soldiers who will get specialized training in crowd control and the use of devices such as batons, Tasers, pepper spray, and body shields, according to Pentagon memos. They’re expected to be in place by January.
  • The new units—dubbed the National Guard Response Force—are expected to mobilize quickly: a quarter of the force within hours, half within 12 hours, and the remainder within a day. The District of Columbia as well as all US territories also will get the units.
  • While most state National Guards have quick-reaction relief teams for natural disasters, training for protest response is a new mandate, one described by the Journal as a “major shift” by the Pentagon, under the mandate of President Trump, to increase the military’s role in civil unrest.
  • The initiative has drawn criticism from some retired military officials, who warn it could blur the line between military and civilian roles. “Every American, I don’t care what state you’re from, should understand this isn’t what we signed up for,” retired Army Maj. Gen. Randy Manner tells the Journal. Janessa Goldbeck, a former US Marine Corps captain and chief executive of the nonprofit Vet Voice Foundation, tells the Guardian the order represents “an attempt by the president to normalize a national, militarized police force.”
  • A White House spokesperson suggested the concerns are overblown. “The president has lawfully deployed the National Guard to several cities either in response to violent riots that local leaders have refused to quell, or by invitation to assist local law enforcement as appropriate,” said Abigail Jackson. “President Trump and the entire administration is working to make America safe again.”

Why?

May I ask…..why do we need a special u8nit after all the military hardware that was sent to the states do we need a ‘special unit’?

So far any violence that I have seen has only manifested itself only after heavy handed tactics are involved.

This is another Donny waste of time and money….and the states are slobbering for any federal funds they can eek out of this situation.

Anything?

Taking It To The Streets

This ought to give those rabid clueless MAGA supporters something to whine about.

Tomorrow, 18Oct, there will be protests all over the country opposing just about everything Donny does or says.

On Oct. 18, over 2,000 peaceful protests are expected to take place across the country as part of the second No Kings protest, a movement aimed at denouncing President Donald Trump and his administration’s controversial policies on immigration, policing, healthcare, and more.

According to the No Kings website, demonstrations are planned in all 50 states, with major events happening in cities like New Orleans, San Francisco, Chicago, Boston, and Washington, D.C., right in front of the Capitol, the Hill reported.

“The president thinks his rule is absolute. But in America, we don’t have kings and we won’t back down against chaos, corruption, and cruelty,” the website notes.

Since its debut, No Kings Day has become more than just a slogan. The first nationwide event took place June 14, in direct protest of the U.S. Army’s 250th anniversary military parade in Washington, D.C., an event that coincided with Trump’s 79th birthday. That day, organized in partnership with groups like Black Voters Matter, the ACLU, and Federal Workers Against DOGE, protests swept every state and even reached international cities, effectively overshadowing the president’s parade and uniting people across the country. Trump’s attempt to turn June 14 into a celebratory coronation failed, and instead, it sparked a growing movement against what many see as his authoritarian overreach.

Saturday’s protest will continue hammering down on that message.

Federal workers are also being urged to participate in the upcoming No Kings Day protests. In a press release issued on Oct. 6, the American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE) called on its members to stand alongside the public and fight for their rights, especially amid the ongoing government shutdown. According to the BBC, nearly 4,000 federal workers have already been laid off since the shutdown began Oct. 1.

“Shutting down the government is another authoritarian power grab by this administration, which has threatened to lay off mass numbers of furloughed federal workers as part of an ongoing quest to gut federal programs and services the administration finds objectionable,” the AFGE wrote.

The upcoming Oct. 18 gathering will send a clear message to Donald Trump and his administration: our rights and freedoms will not be impacted by politics.

If you’re interested in joining a No Kings protest near you, visit the official website to find events happening in your area.

(newsone.com)

The president thinks his rule is absolute. But in America, we don’t have kings and we won’t back down against chaos, corruption, and cruelty.

Our peaceful movement is only getting bigger and bigger. “NO KINGS” is more than just a slogan; it is the foundation our nation was built upon. Born in the streets, shouted by millions, carried on posters and chants, it echoes from city blocks to rural town squares, uniting people across this country to fight dictatorship together.

Because this country does not belong to kings, dictators, or tyrants. It belongs to We the People – the people who care, who show up, and the ones who fight for dignity, a life we can afford, and real opportunity. No Thrones. No Crowns. No Kings.

The prediction is that this protest may be the largest in US history….

Amid President Donald Trump’s unprecedented and accelerating attacks on US democracy, millions of Americans in every state and beyond are preparing to take to the streets Saturday for a second wave of No Kings rallies.

In what organizers and participants say might be the “largest protest in US history” in a single day, No Kings demonstrations are set to take place in more than 2,500 communities across the nation, from its biggest cities to small towns like Burns, Oregon—population 2,700—and Bryson City, North Carolina, with 1,500 residents.

The first round of No Kings rallies, held on June 14, drew an estimated 4-6 million participants to over 2,100 demonstrations. Organizers say that the October 18 protest could be even bigger, as Americans are more alarmed than ever by the assault on democracy by Trump and Republicans.

“What we’re seeing is truly unprecedented,” Lisa Gilbert, co-president of the consumer advocacy group Public Citizen, told Common Dreams. “What we’re seeing from this administration is authoritarian slip. We are seeing them attack judges, attack nonprofits, trying to attack the media, stifle First Amendment protected speech, and arrest sitting members of Congress for doing their oversight of [Immigration and Customs Enforcement].”

“The list, unfortunately, is very long and what we want is what we’ve seen in other countries that have successfully resisted authoritarianism—to hold on to our democracy and to create and protect the checks that we have against that kind of executive overreach,” she added. “It’s a lofty goal, but it starts with us exercising our right to peacefully protest.”

The Donny fans are billing it as ‘hate America’…..seriously?

And guess this is all antifa’s doing, right?   Seriously?

FYI:  Groups organizing the No Kings protests include the ACLU, American Federation of Teachers, Common Defense, 50501, Human Rights Campaign, Indivisible, League of Conservation Voters, MoveOn, National Nurses United, Public Citizen, SEIU and United We Dream.

Don’t sit…..stand and take it to the streets.

I hope you guys have a grand weekend…..

This Is Tucker Carlson?

I remember back in the day when Tucker had a nightly show on MNBC a time when I watched there was not much that I agreed with but from time to time I thought he made a few good points.  Then MSNBC kicked him to the curd and he circled the drain for awhile before sliding down the drain into the sewer that was FOX News then there was nothing coming from his mouth that was anything but sewer sludge….then FOX also kicked him to the curb and now he is wandering around searching for that audience he once had….

In the days after the blowhard was shot there has been a wealth of rhetoric especially from Little Donny Do-Little…..he is doing everything he can to subvert any opposition to his restrictive policies….

Then out of the dark Tucker shows up and once again let his thoughts be known….

Tucker Carlson’s volatile relationship with President Trump may have just cycled back to being a critical one, this time centered on the killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk and the Trump administration’s reaction to it. The former Fox News host’s main beef: the government’s targeting of anyone criticizing Kirk in the wake of his death—a targeting that Carlson says infringes on Americans’ First Amendment rights, per the Independent. “You hope that a year from now, the turmoil we’re seeing in the aftermath of his murder won’t be leveraged to bring hate speech laws to this country,” Carlson said on a Wednesday edition of his online show, calling Kirk a “free speech champion.”

And if those laws do come to pass? “If that does happen, there is never a more justified moment for civil disobedience than that, ever,” Carlson noted. “And there never will be. Because if they can tell you what to say, they’re telling you what to think.” And at that point, “there is nothing they can’t do to you, because they don’t consider you human,” Carlson added, per Newsweek. “They don’t believe you have a soul.” The Independent notes that Carlson’s diatribe seemed to target Attorney General Pam Bondi more than Trump himself, after Bondi made comments suggesting the DOJ would target hate speech in America.

Carlson added of Bondi’s remarks that maybe she “didn’t think it through and was not attempting to desecrate the memory of the person she was purporting to celebrate.” The Latin Times notes that the US “does not have a ‘hate speech’ exception to the First Amendment, meaning most forms of such expression cannot be punished by the government.”

Once again I find myself agreeing with Tucker at least on this issue….

Time for civil disobedience is now.

Assault On Free Speech

The country and most of the world is voicing its disapproval of Israel’s onslaught in Gaza….protests have erupted all over the US mostly lead by university students and it has begun to spill over in the general public (shades of the 60s and 70s).

Congress has taken up these protests by making it against federal statues to voice an opinion or carry out a boycott….in other words they are trying to silence the voices of dissension.

What is driving this assault on free speech?

It should be no surprise that so much of the Congress’s attention in recent months has been devoted to the alleged dangers of people saying things and reading things. The foreign policy establishment in the US has been increasingly pushing for ever more US involvement in Ukraine and the Middle East while agitating for a new Cold War with China. As war fervor spreads, freedom always fades.

Fortunately, there is growing voter opposition to US involvement in these active war zones, and regime agents have been unable to whip the taxpayers into a paranoid hysteria with the ease of decades past. The old bipartisan consensus supporting whatever new war the regime cooked up appears to be disappearing. Support for various wars is now a highly partisan issue. For example, a majority of polled Republicans say the US regime gives “too much” aid to Ukraine, and there is an active faction of Republicans in the Congress opposed to ongoing US involvement in that ten-year-old dispute. Meanwhile, support for the State of Israel’s mass-murder campaign in Gaza is in free-fall among Democrats. According to Gallup, 75 percent of Democrats oppose Tel Aviv’s current military campaign. (Notably, 60 percent of “independents” also oppose Israel’s war in Gaza.)

From the perspective of the neoconservatives and other foreign-policy “elites” in Washington, this is all awful news, and something must be done. That “something” turns out to be attacks on freedom of speech and independent media. Apparently, it is not enough that the federal government collude with social media corporations to fight “disinformation” and other opinions not approved by the regime. It is also “necessary” that the War Party insert into federal law new presidential powers over media outlets.

Making it an offense to criticize Israel is just BS….the criticism can be stated without it being linked to religion….but that matters not when AIPAC is paying these slugs in DC to protect them from criticism.

I will not be silenced….you do what you like but until Israel starts acting like a responsible nation then I shall continue my writings.

More On Those ‘Outside Agitators’

This ought wrinkle a few of the dullards that keep passing on crap as fact about the protests going on across the US…..they will not pay attention for this does not feed their ignorance.

I recently wrote a post about the accusation of those ‘outside agitators’ that conservatives and their lackeys keep trying to convince the nation exist.

For those that could not spare the time before maybe you can find a bit here…..

Those Damn ‘Outside Agitators’!

Groups have been watching these protest besides the media and people looking to start shit with lies….all that violence that is being blamed on ‘outside agitators’ is almost non-existent….that’s right dimwits….these are not violent….

Just over a week after U.S. President Joe Biden defended police crackdowns on dozens of anti-war protests on college campuses by declaring that students don’t have “the right to cause chaos,” a new analysis on Friday showed that nearly all the campus demonstrations have not been violent at all—and many that have descended into violence did so due to police interventions or aggressive counter-protests.

The Armed Conflict Location and Event Data Project (ACLED) examined 553 campus protests that took place across the U.S. between April 18-May 3 and found that fewer than 20 resulted in serious violence or property damage—meaning that 97% of the protests remained non-violent.

The group categorizes demonstrations as violent only when “physical violence that rises above pushing or shoving” takes place or when property damage includes protesters “breaking a window or worse.”

ACLED’s latest analysis comes after a previous study released May 2, which found 99% of campus protests in the first days of the burgeoning student-led movement against Israel’s assault on Gaza had remained peaceful.

In the latest report, analyzing the 3% of protests that became violent, ACLED found that at half of those students clashed with police who had been sent in to clear the peaceful student encampments—which should have been allowed to proceed unimpeded according to Biden’s speech about the protests on May 2, in which he said, “Peaceful protest is in the best tradition of how Americans respond to controversial issues.”

https://www.commondreams.org/news/gaza-peaceful-protests

From the point of view of the protesters…..cops in riot gear would be an outside agitator…..but most are too numb to crap to see what I am talking about.

Educate….Agitate….Organize….

But Wait!

I think we may have identified those ‘outside agitators’ (sarcasm in case you missed it)

VFP members were present at the initial rally of about 200 people at Metropolitan State University of Denver, Auraria Campus, in Colorado on April 25 (photo above right). Since then, at least 40 students arrested. A VFP flag can be glimpsed in this local news clip. Thanks to Tina Jayroe for this report.

Members of VFP Chapter 125 rallied and marched in solidarity with 1500 others on the Emory University campus in Atlanta, Georgia (crowd shown above left) on April 26, the day after Emory President Fenves called in goons from the Atlanta Police and Georgia State Patrol who brutalized students and faculty, arresting over 50 people including the head of the Philosophy department. The next day, chapter members Marcone Canguso and Geoff Sumner appeared on WRFG’s Beyond Borders show to talk about the Emory University protests and unprovoked violence against students and faculty, “and the relevance of waging peace in today’s increasingly dishonest and cowardly environment.”

VFP members Craig Bardo and Tom Grose on Vanderbilt University campus in Nashville, Tennessee, on April 27. The veterans came to support the students who are camping out there.

Washington, D.C. VFP Chapter 16 member Mike Marceau is quoted in the online live encampment coverage posted by the GW Hatchet, an independent student paper serving the George Washington University community. He visited the encampment on May 4, its tenth day. Mike explains, “I told the crowd that I was a Vietnam veteran, that their peaceful action reminded me of the actions in the late ’60s, and that I was proud to stand with them as they spoke out against the Israel genocide and war crimes.” Read the GW Hatchet post HERE.

VFP?  Veterans For Peace.

But not to worry the idiots in the GOP and those that listen to the manure and pass it on as fact will be asking for an investigation…..

A House committee announced it was launching an investigation into 20 groups it claims are behind the campus protests against US support for Israel’s war in Gaza. In a letter to the Treasury Department, the members of Congress requested documents on the organizations while smearing them as antisemitic and pro-Hamas.

On Tuesday, The Committee on Oversight and Accountability and the Committee on Education sent a letter to Treasury Secretary Janey Yellen requesting “All Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) generated in connection to the following organizations, or any known officer or employee thereof.”

The list of 20 groups includes Students for Justice in Palestine, Jewish Voice for Peace IfNotNow, Open Society Foundations, Rockefeller Brothers Fund, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and People’s Forum. Some of the organizations are Jewish-led.

https://libertarianinstitute.org/news/congressional-committee-targets-pro-palestinian-groups-with-investigation/

I say investigate but make it all sides for instance how much cash flows to those calling for this from AIPAC…..and stop calling the protests pro-HAMAS or antisemitic they are neither.

This will be just another waste of time and taxpayer money….something the GOP is very good at doing with their time in DC…..but this time there will be Dems that go along with the bovine fecal matter.

The Battle Of Athens

HUH?

The recent protests made me think of my glory days as an antiwar protester….it also made me think of some protests from the past….protests that are long forgotten but serve their purpose.

The Battle of Athens?

Could this be some random Greek saga or Is this some WW2 battle of note? Or is it some diatribe about Sherman crushing through Georgia?

That’s right a little history for this day…..this piece is about the actions of veterans from WW2.

In the post-war summer of 1946, the small town of Athens, Tennessee became the epicenter of an event that went down in history as the Battle of Athens. This wasn’t merely a physical confrontation, but a fight against entrenched corruption, and it was a battle that symbolized the broader struggle against tyranny and injustice in post-war America.

The protagonists of this historic grandstand were none other than returning World War II veterans, who, after fighting overseas, found themselves facing a new kind of enemy on home soil. The corruption in Athens had been brewing for over a decade under Sheriff Paul Cantrell and his associates, who’d manipulated the political landscape. These veterans, witnessing the disintegration of democracy and fairness in their town, decided the time had come to take action.

Their training, coupled with a deep-seated belief in justice, prepared them for the confrontation that unfolded.

The end of World War II brought a wave of relief and hope to millions, with service members returning home to rebuild their lives in peace. However, for the veterans of Athens, this was far from reality. They returned to find their town under the control of Paul Cantrell’s corrupt regime, characterized by rampant intimidation, voter suppression and a blatant disregard for the law. The local government had become a machinery of corruption, operating with impunity and stifling the voices of citizens.

These returning heroes, already seasoned by the horrors of war, were now confronted with a new battle, one threatening the very principles they’d fought to uphold. Unwilling to stand idly by, they were resolved to challenge the status quo, setting the stage for what became a historic uprising against corruption.

And then there was more veterans that stepped up especially those from World War One….Remember the Bonus Army?….

Of course not!

This is how you do things when injustice is rampant…..not like today when you sit on social media and piss and moan until the next celeb does something that impresses you or until you see the problem and try to understand (ha ha ha)

Those Damn ‘Outside Agitators’!

First of all….who are these outside agitators?

Of all the hundreds of arrests how many were outside agitators?

Name some.

Or is it manure spread as fact?

That is the big term being batted around over the protests on college campuses…the accusation is that ‘agitators’ are running the show…I am not saying that other protesters are not involved….but I hear terms like ‘they do not look like a college student’….what does a college student look like?

Basically this is a concerted plan to divert attention away from what Israel is doing to make the grievances of the students is not legitimate.

In these instances, and others, authorities have not offered many specifics about who the “outside agitators” are, how significant their numbers are or how they differentiated outsiders from university-affiliated protesters.

Large-scale social movements can certainly be vulnerable to groups who seek to capitalize on the chaos for their own ends, said Aldon Morris, a professor emeritus of sociology and African American studies at Northwestern University. But time and again, authorities have leveled the broad accusation of “outside agitators” to undermine or stifle protests.

“The notion here is that student protests aren’t really legitimate because the claim is they are being taken over by outside agitators who are violent, anti-government, anti-democracy and so forth,” Morris told CNN.

The use of the term is nuanced. This time around, city officials, university administrators and supporters of the student protesters have allcited “outside agitators” as people who are trying to hijack the protests for their own means. But whether the person using the phrase is trying to quell the protests or defend them,it’s not always clear who these “outside agitators” are, and whether they can be classed as such in the first place.

“It seems to me that the ‘outside agitator’ claim is one to shift the focus away from the grievances of the students and their protest,” Morris said.

https://edition.cnn.com/2024/04/27/us/campus-protests-palestine-outside-agitator-cec/index.html

College students have a long history of protests…..as far back as 1960 college students have been protesting what they see as problems in this country.

USA TODAY revisited four monumental campus protests to explain how college protests have become a staple of American life and often influence the outcomes of political strife. Here’s a look at how previous campus protests unfolded — and whether they were successful in their causes.

https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/education/2024/04/28/us-has-long-history-of-college-protests-what-happened-in-the-past/73431111007/

History shows that students have a more moral compass than most of the ‘adults’ in this country…..are they wrong?

History proves my point…..

Recent protests have not yet reached the scale of the major student protests of the late 1960s against the Vietnam War or the 1980s against South African apartheid. But on campus, they may be “the largest student movement so far” of the 21st century, said Robert Cohen, a professor of social studies and history at New York University who has studied student activism. In recent decades, there were mass protests against the Iraq War, as part of the Occupy Wall Street movement, and after the killing of George Floyd, but they were primarily happening off campus.

Just like the protesters who came before them, the students who are now being arrested, and in some cases suspended, for setting up encampments on their campuses in solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza have been demonized by politicians. At Columbia University, some protesters were removed and arrested by police after taking over the same building that antiwar protesters once occupied in 1968. The university has said that students who participated may be expelled.

“There Will Be A Bloodbath”

Over the weekend I read about the prediction from Donald the Orange if he is not re-elected.

But for those that were not paying attention because we know basketball is the most important thing happening in this country….

At a rally today in Dayton, Ohio, former president Donald Trump, while rambling on the subject of automobile tarriffs, suddenly veered into discussion of November’s election and issued a promise: there’ll be a “bloodbath” if he doesn’t win.

“If I don’t get elected, it’s gonna be a bloodbath for the whole…that’s gonna be the least of it,” he told the audience, to no applause or cheers. “It’s going to be a bloodbath for the country, that’ll be the least of it.”

(boingboing.net)

WTF?

What kind of low life turd says something like that when running to lead this country?

What does it mean?

Will there be a political bloodbath or something more sinister?

The line: While talking about the economy, Trump promised to raise tariffs on foreign-made cars. He added: “Now if I don’t get elected, it’s going to be a bloodbath for the whole—that’s gonna be the least of it. It’s going to be a bloodbath for the country,” per NBC News.

  • Two meanings: The Biden campaign accused Trump of doubling down on “threats of political violence,” per the AP. “He wants another January 6.” But the Trump campaign said the former president was still talking about cars. “If you actually watch and listen to the section, he was talking about the auto industry and tariffs,” spokesman Steven Cheung wrote to the Washington Post. Cheung added that “Biden’s policies will create an economic bloodbath for the auto industry and autoworkers.” Watch video of Trump’s comments here.
  • Election warning: Trump also said that if he loses, “I don’t think you’re going to have another election, or certainly not an election that’s meaningful,” per the New York Times.
  • Migrants: Trump continued a theme of making “dehumanizing” remarks about migrants entering the US in his speech, per the Post. “I don’t know if you call them ‘people,’ in some cases,” he said. “They’re not people, in my opinion.” He also referred to them as “animals” and asserted that some nations were sending “young people” from their prisons over the border, per the Times. Trump didn’t offer any evidence on that or name the nations.
  • The rally: Ohio votes Tuesday, and Trump made his appearance to back his favored GOP candidate, Bernie Moreno, in the Senate primary race.

Was this some shadowy warning of things to come?  Maybe of political upheaval or something more sinister.

What do you think he meant?

Should Veterans Choose To Act?

Veterans have a history of activism….from the Bonus Army to the antiwar protesters of the 60s and 70s…..should they choose to return to the forefront of activism?

I was one of those ‘pinko’ protesters in the 70s….I can think of no better way for a veteran serve its country.

Then I say yes they need to once again become the leaders they should be.

This is veterans that have chosen the ‘path of dissent’……

One of my heroes, Major General Smedley Butler, said “We Americans who will protect our flag should have a voice in where it is flown.” The two-time Medal of Honor recipient and author of War is a Racket exemplifies the model of a dissident soldier.

Voices of today’s soldiers, all veterans of the Global War on Terror, have been collected in a new anthology, Paths of Dissent: Soldiers Speak Out Against America’s Misguided Wars, edited by (Ret.) Maj. Danny Sjursen and (Ret.) Col. Andrew Bacevich, President of the Quincy Institute.

The book shares fifteen individual stories of how soldiers — in some ways big, in some ways small — dissented from what their high command, their government, and in many ways society expected of them as they advocated to bring our troops home.

Their perspective should come as no surprise. “War dissent is committed by those with a deep love for the country and its soldiers, for honesty, justice, humanity, and the rule of law. They bring light to situations clouded by secrecy, lies, and propaganda,” relates contributor Kevin Tillman, whose family is intimately familiar with the government’s secrecy, lies, and propaganda.

For several years, polls have demonstrated that veterans support military withdrawals from the Middle East at higher percentages than the civilian population. We witnessed firsthand the failures of nation-building, the ineffectiveness of raw military power to solve political problems, and the lack of coherent strategy or victory conditions.

As contributor Matthew Hoh discloses, “The entire U.S. government, including our military, intelligence, and diplomatic corps, was — and is — full of people who don’t believe in America’s endless wars, don’t believe in our supposed reasons for fighting them, and don’t believe that the sacrifices and costs are worthwhile.”

Meet the veterans who chose ‘paths of dissent’

Since marches and massive protests for the good of the country and its people is not as big thing these days our vets can serve and protect the democracy we all say we love.

With the mid-terms just a mere 2 months away…..vets can get involved.

Vets can begin by becoming volunteers for their local elections….

Our nation faces a critical shortfall of volunteers to administer our elections.

The COVID-19 pandemic has put a real dent in election poll volunteerism — especially among Americans 60 years of age and older who have traditionally served as poll workers. In fact, nearly two-thirds of all election poll workers are older than 61 years of age. The pandemic, combined with news reports of election-related political violence and threats to election officials, has made it difficult for many county election boards to find enough people to run election polling sites.

Why should you care? Simply put, American democracy runs on elections, and elections run on volunteers — just like our military and our national defense rely on volunteers.

Since our republic runs on a decentralized and federalized election system, it’s up to the individual states and counties to run elections, maintain voter records, count ballots, and report results.

When secretaries of state and county boards of elections can’t find enough volunteers to serve as election officials, it results in fewer polling stations, longer lines, fewer early voting days, and ultimately, less of an opportunity for you and your fellow citizens to enjoy the rights we all served in uniform to defend — primarily our right to vote. When there aren’t enough election workers, we have less democracy.

So what can you do about it? The solution is simple: Volunteer to serve your country and community again as an election poll worker.

I’ll give you 10 good reasons why you should:

Why helping others vote is a patriotic duty that appeals to US military veterans

Time for our vets to honor the oath they took when they entered the service of their country…..and volunteering to help with elections is an excellent start.

The only problem I can see is that many of our veterans have drank the vile poison of Trump-ism….so would they be good shepherds of our democracy?

That Coming Civil War

There has been lots of ink and bitching about the divisions in the country and the politics behind it.

Then there are all those articles and stuff about the amounts of guns that are flying around this nation.

Put two and two together and we get a coming civil war that could very well end in violence.

I also have made several posts about the possibility of all out civil war….I am hoping that all those predictions are wrong…..

There are those that down play the possibility of a coming civil war…..this is one of those articles…..

A pattern emerged in the hours after the FBI lawfully searched the Florida home of the former president. Indeed, it was deeply familiar.

It goes something like this.

When Bad Thing X happens to Donald Trump – and, given who we’re talking about, there’s always a Bad Thing X – it’s actually Good Thing Y, because it’ll arouse the resentments of his supporters. It doesn’t matter what Bad Thing X is. What matters, for the purposes of propaganda, is that this pattern is used at Trump’s convenience. And, given who we’re talking about, that convenience has come in handy.

But what started as convenience, effective though it may have been, has evolved into a habit, which has evolved into a tic, which has evolved into a tell. Whenever someone says Bad Thing X is actually Good Thing Y, we can have confidence that it’s no such thing.

A new civil war?

After the FBI searched the former president’s home for secret government documents that, according to the Wall Street Journal, he would not surrender voluntarily, online chatter among his supporters tsunamied, according to Vice News, into calls for a new civil war.

https://www.alternet.org/2022/08/republicans-insurgency-second-civil-war/

All this could happen before or after the GOP plan to change the Constitution…..(this is possible and very possible)……

If you think the Supreme Court overturning abortion rights in this country was radical and shocking, you ain’t seen nothing yet. There was a convention you should know about this past weekend in Denver, funded by some of the wealthiest men and foundations in America, that has received altogether too little publicity.

Imagine if most public schools in the country closed and were replaced by for-profit charter and private academies — often racially segregated and only serving families who could afford their tuition — because the Constitution required federal compulsory education laws and federal funding for education (at all levels) to end.

Imagine if the U.S. Constitution required the EPA, FDA, USDA, DOT, Department of Education, and Department of Labor to shut down. All union protections are dead, there are no more federal workplace safety standards, and even child-labor laws are struck down, along with the national minimum wage and the income tax, both individual and corporate.

Imagine that the Constitution makes it illegal for the federal government to protect you from big polluters, big banks, and even big food and pharma—all are free to rip you off or poison you all they want, and your only remedy is in state courts and legislatures, because the Constitution prevents Congress from doing anything about any of it. The federal government can no longer even enforce voting or civil rights laws.
