Last Week At The Sh*t Show–03Aug25

Please forgive me if this post is not as all encompassing as usual for I am still try to shake the effects of chemo.

Last week was full of the confusion and chaos that is the Trump policies…..and the head clown-in-charge lead the pack on mindless BS…..and where better to be a moron than on Truth Social?  And what better place to check-out the stupidity that is the government than IST and the Sh*t Show?

The big news was that the report on jobs was not very good and what did Little Donny do?  Did he come up with a plan to help those struggling in the jobs market?  No his solution for a terrible report was to fire that head of the reporting agency….

Hours after the release of a jobs report that showed hiring has been weak, President Trump ordered the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ commissioner fired. “I have directed my Team to fire this Biden Political Appointee, IMMEDIATELY,” Trump posted Friday on social media, Bloomberg reports. “She will be replaced with someone much more competent and qualified. Important numbers like this must be fair and accurate, they can’t be manipulated for political purposes.” The president did not provide any evidence that Erika McEntarfer had politicized the report or otherwise doctored the data.

The statistics agencies have been insulated from politics to allow them to produce accurate and reliable information, per Axios. The bureau, which has a top-notch reputation globally among collectors of labor information, is part of the Department of Labor. Its reports have nonetheless been repeatedly criticized by Trump and congressional Republicans, per CNBC, partly for large revisions such as the ones in Friday’s report. “No one can be that wrong?” Trump posted. He also wrote that the economy is booming, and the new data was dramatic enough to shake such contentions. Stocks fell off sharply in trading after the report was released.

That is how you do it…..bad news then shoot the messenger….what a damn clown!

And the craziness just kept coming…..

President Trump shared a dicey fake video on his Truth Social feed about one of his predecessors in the White House. The video depicts former President Obama being arrested in the Oval Office by FBI agents as the Trump-favorite “YMCA” plays in the background, reports Time. The video begins by showing multiple Democrats, including Obama, asserting that “nobody is above the law.” It then switches to a doctored scene of the then-president being handcuffed while meeting with then-President-elect Trump in the Oval Office in 2016.

As the New York Times notes, the video follows assertions made last week by Tulsi Gabbard, the director of national intelligence, that the Obama administration engaged in a “treasonous conspiracy in 2016” in an attempt to swing the election from Trump to Hillary Clinton. In a press release, Gabbard said she would be making a criminal referral to the FBI, alleging that Obama officials “manufactured and politicized intelligence” to falsely suggest that Russia was working on behalf of Trump. It’s “baseless,” responded Rep. Jim Himes, the ranking Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee.

(I cannot believe that at one point I was bamboozled by Gabbard into some support)

And the idiocy continued with a renaming proposal….

A Missouri Republican in the House is pushing a bill to strip John F. Kennedy’s name from Washington’s famed performing arts center and rechristen it as the “Trump Center for the Performing Arts.” Rep. Bob Onder introduced the proposal, dubbing it the Make Entertainment Great Again (MEGA) Act—a nod to President Trump’s MAGA campaign slogan, per the Hill. Onder describes Trump as a “patron of the arts” and a major figure in American pop culture, arguing that Trump’s name better represents American exceptionalism in those areas and in entertainment.

Neither Onder’s office nor the Kennedy Center responded to requests for comment. The move comes amid other GOP efforts to mark Trump’s legacy on the capital’s cultural institutions. Earlier this month, House Republicans on the Appropriations Committee backed an amendment to rename the Kennedy Center’s well-known opera house after Melania Trump, citing her support for the arts. Sources tell NBC News, however, that making such name changes would violate the law under which the Kennedy Center was created, with those shifts needing congressional approval.

“The only real wild card is whether Trump or his allies ignore the law entirely and try to do it unilaterally,” says a spokesperson for Rep. Chellie Pingree, the lead Dem on the Appropriations’ subcommittee on the interior. “But that would have no legal basis—and would almost certainly trigger a court fight.” The proposed changes have sparked sharp criticism from Trump detractors, including JFK’s grandson, Jack Schlossberg, who took to social media to accuse the Trump administration of prioritizing “freedom of oppression, not expression.”

It is painful to see how far these ‘people’ will go to kiss the Orange man from Florida.

Then Donny’s pick to run the US Institute of Peace (always hated that title since the US has started more conflicts than not….so peace seem to be the furthest thing from reality)

A top State Department official who was fired in President Trump’s first term for appearing at a conference attended by white supremacists, and who has a history of incendiary statements about race, has been picked to run the US Institute of Peace. Darren Beattie will keep his current job while serving as acting president of the independent nonprofit, which Congress funds, the department said. The Trump administration tried earlier this year to dismantle the organization, which assists global efforts for diplomatic solutions to conflicts, the New York Times reports. The announcement of Beattie’s new assignment said, “We look forward to seeing him advance President Trump’s America First agenda in this new role.”

Among Beattie comments that have drawn attention are:

  • White power: “Competent white men must be in charge if you want things to work,” he posted on his social media accounts in October. The nation’s ideology is based on “coddling the feelings of women and minorities, and demoralizing competent white men,” he posted, per Reuters. Beattie also has expressed support for white nationalist views.”
  • Comparison: “America treats rural whites far worse than China treats” Uyghurs, Beattie posted in October. He said in 2021 that China isn’t “genocidal.” The Chinese government has denied abusing the Uyghur people, but the US determined during Trump’s first term that the repressions amounted to genocide. China has sent members of that and other religious and ethnic minority groups to internment camps.
  • Taiwan: China’s takeover of the democratically governed island is inevitable, Beattie said, assessing that it’s “not worth expending any capital to prevent.” Last summer, he posted that the change “might mean fewer drag queen parades in Taiwan, but otherwise not the end of the world.”
  • Beattie was a speechwriter in Trump’s first administration when he was fired after appearing on a panel with the founder of an anti-immigrant site at a conference attended by white nationalists. Trump brought him back this term for the job at the State Department, where he’s responsible for “public diplomacy outreach, which includes messaging to counter terrorism and violent extremism,” according to the department’s website. Several dozen House Democrats opposed his appointment to that job in a letter to Secretary of State Marco Rubio in February, per Politico. They objected to Beattie’s “white nationalist loyalties and public glorification of our adversaries’ authoritarian systems.”

This idiot is pretty much a carbon copy of most of the Trump Administration….a racist and a lack of any morality.

Then there is the new plan for the White House……the Rose Garden is gone and soon there will be a massive ballroom.

he White House on Thursday announced that construction on a $200 million ballroom will begin in September and be ready for entertaining before President Trump’s term ends in early 2029. It will be the latest change introduced to what’s known as the “people’s house” since Trump returned to office in January, the AP reports. It will also be the first structural change to the Executive Mansion since the addition of the Truman balcony several decades ago.

  • Trump for months has been promising to build a ballroom, saying the White House doesn’t have enough space to hold large events and he does not like the idea of hosting heads of state and other guests in tents on the lawn, as past administrations have done for the hundreds of guests who attend state dinners. The East Room, the largest room in the the White House, can accommodate about 200 people.
  • The 90,000-square-foot ballroom announced Thursday will be built where the East Wing currently sits and have a seated capacity of 650 people. The East Wing is home to several offices, including the first lady’s, and those offices will be relocated during construction.
  • Trump “and other patriot donors, have generously committed to donating the funds necessary to build this approximately $200 million dollar structure,” the White House said in a news release. The White House described the East Wing, built in 1902, as “small, heavily changed, and reconstructed.” White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt did not name any of the other donors at a briefing Thursday.
  • Trump has substantially redecorated the Oval Office by adding golden flourishes, cherubs, and other items and installed massive flagpoles to fly the American flag on the north and south lawns. Workers are currently finishing a project to replace the lawn in the Rose Garden with stone.

Why?

Is that important in these trying times….some structure that will reflect his gaudy lifestyle?

That is enough total BS for the past week…..enjoy your Sunday…..and as always….Be Well and Be Safe….

That Was The Week That Was…..
