Boycott The Bastards

I have heard some calling for a national boycott as a way to help lower some of the outrageous prices Americans are paying these days…..

This is a post from my other blog, Gulf South Free Press, that I offer up for those that have not yet followed GSFP….

Let’s Boycott!

Please let your thoughts be known….

      1. When beef got out of sight a few years back, we let it sit in the coolers until it was unfit to sell….the stores got panicked and started selling ostrich meat and other shit …then they imported argentine beef and we let that rot too and finally they got the message and beef became affordable again…..the same thing with coffee as I recall …..I guess the public got tired of Cub Foods and put the whole damned chain out of business with boycotts —it can be done if enough people get on the same wave length and do a little consumer activism—

  1. Boycotting can take on many forms. The most common one is one we are not necessarily conscious of as such. When prices get too high the consumer simply doesn’t buy it. Simple free market application. Gas reaches a point where we don’t drive much, we are, in effect, boycotting the price of gas by reducing our need for consuming it. That gets the attention because someone along the distribution chain is not making as much money.

Then there’s overt boycotting as a collective protest.. and those boycotts generally require public displays… to make the point broader and greatly recognized for max effect. We aren’t going to buy pillows from the MyPillow guy because he’s a Trumper.. and we want people to know it.,, so we might burn a pillow in protest effigy in front of the pillow factory.

Then there’s the more passive (private?), silent boycotting, like you are taking, chuq, regarding your feelings for boycotting products from Israel.

But the universal strength in boycotting in general is to make a point by not spending your money on something because of any reason you want to conjure up.. be it personal, moral, political, etc.

    1. As a postscript… seems to me you have a greater leverage in boycotting the purchase of certain foodstuffs given their shelf life “on the hoof” is far less.. and… expensive to maintain to keep from “spoiling”. A can of chili you can keep in a warehouse for a period of time if necessary if you refuse to buy it.. but the cow still walking around destined to go inside that can has to be kept alive until it goes into that can to be preserved. The effect on boycotting a consumable foodstuff is immense. Not so much for pillows.

      1. But that one item does not lower the price of all items….so again….where to begin? Gas too high…..housing too high….insurance too high….the government should be working on this not helping the gouger make more money. chuq

      2. Two ways to fight back on higher prices.. 1. don’t pay the higher price and leave the seller with inventory to sell… or 2. Fight (strike?) for better wages to pay the high prices.

      3. Doug I am not saying boycotting is bad…all I am saying is boycotting one item will not lower all prices and there is where I am coming from….I have already covered the higher wages and higher prices things. chuq

    2. Well and good and I believe in the power of boycott….but that does not answer my question….how do you boycott food? chuq
