Biden On D-Day

As usual the American president made his way to Normandy to celebrate the invasion and what has been called ‘the beginning of the end’……

An as usual the president stepped up to the sound system to make his speech.

President Biden marked the 80th anniversary of D-Day on Thursday by saying “we will not walk away” from the defense of Ukraine and allow Russia to threaten more of Europe. “To surrender to bullies, to bow down to dictators, is simply unthinkable,” he said during a ceremony at the American cemetery in Normandy. “If we were to do that, it means we’d be forgetting what happened here on these hallowed beaches.” D-Day was the largest amphibious assault in history, and Biden called it a “powerful illustration of how alliances, real alliances make us stronger,” the AP reports. He said that was “a lesson that I pray we Americans never forget.”

  • “The autocrats of the world are watching closely to see what happens in Ukraine,” Biden said, per the BBC. Ukraine, he said, “has been invaded by a tyrant,” he added, per CBS News.
  • Speaking about the American troops that stormed Normandy’s beaches on June 6, 1944, Biden said “let us be worthy of their sacrifice,” adding, per the AP: “We must remember that the fact that they were heroes here that day does not absolve us of what we have to do today. Democracy is never guaranteed. Every generation must preserve it, defend it, and fight for it. That’s the test of the ages.”
  • Ukrainian President Volodmyr Zelensky and his wife were applauded when they arrived at the event, the Guardian reports.
  • Before Biden’s remarks, French President Emmanuel Macron told US veterans that “you came here because the free world needed each and every one of you, and you answered the call,” per the AP. Macron awarded the Legion of Honor to several of them, and he kissed them on each cheek as he pinned on their medals. Biden followed with handshakes and embraces.
  • Earlier, Biden and first lady Jill Biden met with more than two dozen American veterans near Omaha Beach, where the fiercest D-Day fighting took place.
  • Biden told a veteran that “you saved the world.” The president led the audience in singing “Happy Birthday” to another. Steve Spielberg and Tom Hanks, the Hollywood heavyweights behind movies and television shows about World War II, were nearby. When Army veteran Robert Gibson approached, the first lady clutched his arm to help him stand next to the president as they shook hands. “Don’t get old,” the 100-year-old man from New Jersey joked to the 81-year-old president, who was a toddler on D-Day. The BBC notes that Biden “will likely be” the last US president to have been alive during the operation.
  • In an interview with the AP a few days ago, Gibson said he was “living on borrowed time” but wanted to see the beach again. He was in the second wave of troops that landed on Utah Beach on D-Day. “Terrible. Some of the young fellows never ever made it to the beach,” he said. “It was so bad that we had to run over [them] to get on the beach. That’s how bad it was.”

His words were excellent to the vets that made the long trip…but I have a problem with using comparisons….the day was about the men that stormed the beaches of Normandy….the speech should have been totally about that and the sacrifices made….I bet the vets could care less about Ukraine on this day.

The surrender thing was dumb…the US surrenders to bullies and autocrats….i e Saudi Arabia, Israel….the US surrenders to their cash and influence.

I am sorry but this speech should been about the day of the invasion….make your brownie points later.

So far I have not seen any mention to the vet that died on his way to Normandy…..so I shall do it….

An American veteran of World War II died after traveling to Europe to mark the 80th anniversary of the D-Day invasion by Allied troops, reports the New York Times. Robert Persichitti, 102, suffered a medical emergency on Friday while aboard a ship headed for Normandy, France, and died later at a hospital in Germany, reports WHEC 10, a TV station in his hometown of Rochester, New York. “He died peacefully, and he did not die alone,” said Richard Stewart, president of the vets’ group Honor Flight Rochester.

A friend traveling with him, Al DeCarlo, tells 13WHAM that the doctor treating him played Frank Sinatra, Persichitti’s favorite singer, on her phone for him as he died. Persichitti served in the Navy during the war, and he witnessed the iconic raising of the flag at Iwo Jima from the deck of his ship, the USS Eldorado. He served as a radioman on the ship in Okinawa and Guam as well as Iwo Jima, according to Stars and Stripes. Persichitti’s medical emergency was not specified, but he had a history of heart trouble.

May he now Rest In Peace and thank you for all you did for this country and the world.

Who Will Get The VP Nod?

For a couple of months now there has been a wealth of speculation on just who Donald the Orange will pick as his running mate…..we will know for sure at the RNC Convention this Summer….but until then there is a list that many think are his choices.

Donald Trump appears to be zeroing in on a running mate. The presumptive Republican presidential nominee’s campaign has requested vetting documents from eight people, sources tell the Washington Post: GOP Sens. Marco Rubio, JD Vance, Tom Cotton, and Tim Scott; North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum; Republican Reps. Elise Stefanik and Byron Donalds; and a member of his own former cabinet, Ben Carson, who served as secretary of housing and urban development. Coverage:

  • Axios has a rundown on what Trump likes about some of the candidates, noting that the No. 1 thing the former president is looking for in a VP candidate is loyalty.
  • NPR runs down the “pros and cons” of the top contenders.
  • USA Today reports on recent comments from Donalds, who is Black, suggesting there was an upside to the Jim Crow era in America. “You see, during Jim Crow, the Black family was together. During Jim Crow, more Black people were not just conservative—Black people have always been conservative-minded—but more Black people voted conservatively,” the congressman said during a Trump campaign event Tuesday. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries had a blunt response to that: “We were not better off when people could be systematically lynched without consequence.”
  • CNN reports that Scott, who is also Black, has launched a multimillion-dollar outreach effort aimed at getting more Black and Latino voters to back Republicans at the polls.
  • Interested in what the casting director for the West Wing would do, if this were all a TV show? Well, the Daily Beast spoke to him, and he put Vance and Cotton at the top of his list. They’re “both standard, unimaginative, low-risk choices. That’s not my style of casting, but I think it might be appropriate casting in this environment.”

I agree that this election is as boring as watching flies mate….but you could put some funny in it by starting a pool on who his, Trump’s, decision on a running mate will be.

Make your pick and have some fun….

1–Marco Rubio

2–JD Vance

3–Tom Cotton

4–Tim Scott

5–Gov. Doug Burgum

6–Rep. Elise Stefanik

7–Rep. Byron Donalds

8–Ben Carson

9–None Of The Above

Personally I do not think he would want to lose a senator he needs help with women and Blacks….Carson and Stefanik are my choices.

Do you have anything you would like to add?

If you are bored with this election it will not go away so at least have some fun.

D-Day –06 June 1944

Today is the 80th anniversary of the largest military operation in history and sadly the vets of that battle are fewer and fewer with each passing year and soon they will be gone and the country may forget them as we did for our WW1 vets.

A little background for the slower among us….

The Normandy invasion occurred more than four years into World War II. Planning for the operation which was executed on June 6, 1944 went on for years before its eventual execution.

History.com details the invasion, which stretched across five beaches codenamed “Utah,” “Omaha,” “Gold,” “Juno” and “Sword.” Plans were in place for heavy bombing from planes, which would take out Nazi guns and destroy crucial roads and bridges, cutting off their retreat and any potential reinforcements. At this point, paratroopers would drop in and secure inland positions before 150,000 amphibious troops from Britain, Canada and the U.S. attacked Nazi defenses.

This ambitious plan was foiled, however, when bombers were unable to destroy many Nazi heavy artillery bunkers. With foul weather, many paratroopers were blown away from their marks, drowned in lagoons or fell prey to snipers as they drifted down.

The UK does not forget the sacrifices made by the brave souls that participated in the ‘beginning of the end’

The Overlord Embroidery

Most everyone knows about the landing sites Juno, Omaha, Sword, Gold and Utah but there were other missions that began the invasion earlier.

The invasion began with the brave souls that we in the glider division that we sent behind enemy lines to start disrupting the Nazis in whatever way they could.

D-Day was a marvel of planning; it involved the simultaneous landing of tens of thousands of Allied troops on five separate beaches in Nazi-occupied northern France. The British and Canadians would land on three beaches in Normandy, codenamed Sword, Juno and Gold. The Americans were to capture Omaha and Utah beaches.

Major John Howard and his company’s part in this elaborate plan required perfect navigation, great daring and complete surprise. Their mission was to capture two bridges intact – Bénouville Bridge, later known as Pegasus Bridge, over the Caen canal, and Ranville Bridge, later renamed Horsa Bridge, over the adjacent River Orne. Because these road bridges were the only way across the parallel water obstacles, capturing them would mean they could stop German reinforcements from reaching the beaches where the Allied armies would land later that day.

Preparation for this audacious glider mission was intense. Thousands of aerial photographs were taken of the bridges and their defences mapped in detail. The British even created a model of the area which was modified to match each day’s aerial photograph. When the Germans cut down trees, the model-makers did the same. The idea of using gliders was that troops and heavier weapons could be landed in the same place behind enemy lines, without the need for parachutes. Because of the need to conserve metal supplies during wartime, the gliders were made mostly of spruce and plywood. They were tricky to operate, and liable to break apart upon landing.

Eighty years ago Thursday, Allied troops stormed the beaches of Normandy to launch the liberation of Western Europe from the Nazis. More than 150,000 men attacked five beaches in the D-Day landings, and more than 4,400 of them were killed. Around 200 veterans who returned to France, all in their late 90s or older, were the focus of commemorations Thursday, where leaders praised their bravery in one of history’s most important battles, the Guardian reports.

  • President Biden will speak at an event attended by around two dozen other world leaders, the Washington Post reports. He will later attend a wreath-laying ceremony at the Normandy American Cemetery and a ceremony at Omaha Beach, where more than 2,400 Americans were killed or wounded.

ng Charles III spoke at the British Normandy Memorial, overlooking beaches where British troops landed, the AP reports. “Eighty years ago on D-Day, the 6th of June 1944, our nation—and those which stood alongside it—faced what my grandfather, King George VI, described as the supreme test,” he said. “This vital start to the liberation of Europe was a vast allied effort,” the king said. “American, British, Canadian, French, and Polish formations fought here in Normandy.”

“Brave Canadians like you sacrificed everything for our freedom,” Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said at a ceremony near Juno Beach, where thousands of Canadian troops landed. “There are no words to describe the immensity of the debt we owe you.” Some 13 Canadian veterans were at the ceremony, the CBC reports. Another vet, 100-year-old Bill Cameron, died the day before he was due to fly from Vancouver.

A Good Sign?

Pain kept me awake last night and as I was trying to find something to watch on the tube I cam across a Trump ad…..one of his idiot sons is asking for donations….”$5, $10 $25 whatever you can spare”…begging for donations….is the cash running short?

I know the campaigns are weeks away from the official start of the election….but they all need cash…..and a Trump son is begging for dollars.

I recall the days when Trump was an opponent of early voting and mail-in voting because according to him the ripe for fraud.

But was then….this is now….

It appears that Donald the Orange has flip-flopped on his original opposition to early voting….

“You know mail-in voting is largely corrupt,” Donald Trump told a rally last month. But the Republican presidential candidate can’t win without votes, and he’s thought better of that stance. His team has joined with the Republican National Committee to launch a campaign encouraging supporters to cast their ballots by mail for the November election or otherwise participate in early voting, the Hill reports. “You need to make a plan, register, and vote any way possible,” Trump says in a video kicking off the campaign.

The effort is called “Swamp the Vote,” and Trump says he needs a huge turnout to defeat Democrats. “The way to win is to swamp them, if we swamp them with votes they can’t cheat,” he said in a statement. Plans call for providing potential voters with information on how to vote in various ways under their state’s laws. States encouraged voting in ways other than standing in line at a polling place after the pandemic hit. Trump opposed that effort, saying, “I think a lot of people cheat with mail-in voting.” A Washington Post analysis of data from three states at the time found no evidence of widespread fraud.

A Pew poll earlier this year found majority support for early voting and mail-in voting. Democrats supported mail-in options much more than Republicans did, per the Hill. The chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee told the Post that his party needs to get its voters to cast ballots earlier and that he’s pleased by Trump’s change. “President Trump wants to win,” Sen. Steve Daines said. “And this is a winning strategy.”

Quite the turn around…if you recall (hahaha-sorry) the Trump organization sued Nevada back in 2020 over mail-in votes….

A federal judge has dismissed a lawsuit from President Trump’s reelection campaign challenging Nevada’s new vote-by-mail law, saying the campaign failed to show how it could be harmed by the law. The campaign, which has filed lawsuits in several states over voting rules, had asked the judge to block the law, which calls for mail-in ballots to automatically be sent to all active Nevada voters.

And now he has a new found desire for these votes.

Is this a good sign that his campaign is struggling to find enough votes?

What else will he flip-flop on as the election draws near?

Any thoughts?

The testing ground for right wing stupidity seems to be Florida and Texas….and that brings me to the Texas GOP platform that has been approved.

As the party has drifted further right, its platform has done the same. In 2022, it called for a referendum on Texas secession; resistance to the “Great Reset,” a conspiracy theory that claims global elites are using environmental and social policies to enslave the world’s population; proclamations that homosexuality is an “abnormal lifestyle choice”; and a declaration that President Joe Biden was not legitimately elected.

(such bullshit!   What happened to separation of church and state….besides I do not believe in ‘forced’ religion)

https://www.texastribune.org/2024/05/25/texas-republican-party-convention-platform/

Nothing about this platform works to make lives better for the people of Texas…..instead it wasted time on issues that mean nothing to the average Texan…..but this is typical of every Red State….the people mean absolutely nothing to these clowns….and that is just a little sad….that they vote these d/bags into office every time.

More Wasted Time

The House of Representatives is nothing but a black hole of wasted time and energy….I have been saying this for years…..the Reps send more time passing stupid bills that usually go go nowhere and when they are not wasting that time they are wasting it on some lame ass Congressional hearing that is nothing more that a theater of the absurd….I give you the stupidity of the Fauci hearing.

But that is not what I am hear to rant about…..the bill to sanction the ICC.

In a 247-155 vote, the House passed a bill today that would impose sanctions on anyone who has assisted the International Criminal Court in its investigation of Israel’s conduct in Gaza, a group that could include U.S. allies like Germany and Japan that fund the tribunal.

The bill, titled the Illegitimate Court Counteraction Act, aims to punish the ICC for its chief prosecutor’s recent decision to seek arrest warrants against several leaders from Israel and Hamas, including Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. More than 40 Democrats joined Republicans to back the proposal despite opposition from the Biden administration.

The bill, which faces an uphill battle in the Democrat-controlled Senate, would also sanction immediate family members of those targeted. The sanctions include bans on entering the U.S. and doing business with American companies or citizens.

“We cannot stand by and allow the court to do what it’s doing,” said Rep. Chip Roy (R-Texas), a lead sponsor of the legislation. Roy argues the proposal would send a strong message to the international community that the United States will not allow politicized cases against itself or its allies.

“This is a kangaroo court,” said Rep. Guy Reschentaler (R-Pa.), another sponsor of the bill. “To defend it is to defend an institution that is anti-American, anti-Israel and anti-semitic.”

The vote came just a day after the Biden administration announced that it opposed the bill. “There are more effective ways to defend Israel, preserve U.S. positions on the ICC, and promote international justice and accountability, and the Administration stands ready to work with the Congress on those options,” the White House said in a statement, leaving open the possibility of a compromise on sanctions against the court.

This is a complete waste of time.

How much did this cost AIPAC?

This country has many problems in search of solutions and yet those we elect to better the nation spend their time pissing around with meaningless horse manure.

This is just an example of the do-nothing BS that the Reps psend their time and our money doing.

This is stupidity personified.

Why do we allow this sort of thing to continue?

Easy answer….MONEY!

And this corruption gets worse every year.

Do you have a fundamental right to vote?

Bet your answer is yes we do have the right…..with the possible exception to the state of Kansas.

The Kansas Supreme Court has made a ruling that has many up in arms….

The Kansas Supreme Court offered a mixed bag in a ruling Friday that combined several challenges to a 2021 election law, siding with state officials on one provision, reviving challenges to others and offering the possibility that at least one will be halted before this year’s general election.

But it was the ballot signature verification measure’s majority opinion — which stated there is no right to vote enshrined in the Kansas Constitution’s Bill of Rights — that drew fiery dissent from three of the court’s seven justices.

The measure requires election officials to match the signatures on advance mail ballots to a person’s voter registration record. The state Supreme Court reversed a lower court’s dismissal of that lawsuit, but the majority rejected arguments from voting rights groups that the measure violates state constitutional voting rights.

In fact, Justice Caleb Stegall, writing for the majority, said that the dissenting justices wrongly accused the majority of ignoring past precedent, holding that the court has not identified a “fundamental right to vote” within the state constitution.

“It simply is not there,” Stegall wrote.

Justice Eric Rosen, one of the three who dissented, shot back: “It staggers my imagination to conclude Kansas citizens have no fundamental right to vote under their state constitution.”

“I cannot and will not condone this betrayal of our constitutional duty to safeguard the foundational rights of Kansans,” Rosen added.

https://abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory/kansas-constitution-include-vote-state-supreme-court-majority-110730583

If this ruling stands how long will it be before other red states try this end run on the people of their state?

If you are 18 and a citizen it does matter which of the 50 little republics you live you have a duty to vote and if anyone stands in your way then it is time to push back on this betrayal of the people.

Is this what you want for this country?

Biden On Immigration–2024

The GOP has been hammering Biden on his lack of substance on immigration……now that the election is just months away he will try and silence some of the criticism with the use of the Executive Order process.

Plus this should provide a much needed diversion from is limp wrist policies toward Israel.

President Biden, under increasing heat to stem the number of migrants crossing the border, is expected to unveil his most aggressive move yet Tuesday in the form of an executive order. The New York Times reports that the order would essentially seal the Mexican border when the number of migrants reaches a certain threshold by prohibiting anyone who crossed the border illegally from claiming asylum. Instead, border officials would be allowed to quickly deport the migrants back to Mexico or their home country, per the Wall Street Journal.

Biden is expected to sign the measure at the White House in the company of mayors from border towns, per the AP. However, whether such an order can withstand a legal challenge is uncertain. The Journal notes that then-President Trump attempted to enforce a “nearly identical ban” back in 2018, but a federal court blocked him on the grounds that it violated longstanding asylum laws allowing anyone to seek asylum no matter how they entered the country.

Immigration has emerged as a top issue in the presidential campaign, with Trump and Republicans criticizing Biden as too soft on the issue. CNN reports that the White House is pushing to put something in place before the first Trump-Biden debate on June 27. While details remain under wraps, the Times calls the broad strokes of the plan “the single most restrictive border policy instituted by Mr. Biden, or any modern Democrat.”

This will do little to solve any problems we have at our borders or to silence that constant nagging by the GOP….it may give him a short burst of support before the election.

This will not solve any problems or help the criticisms….it will make the MSM happy for there will be yet another news story for them to blow out of proportion.

Will this satisfy the armchair geniuses?

Doubtful!

A Call To Arms?

We do not need Paul and his horse anymore for we have the internet and social media.

Of course I am referring to the re4sponse from MAGA loyalists after the conviction of their hero recently…..

Is it truly a call to arms?

After a jury found Donald Trump guilty of 34 felony charges yesterday, Bronze Age Pervert, the alter ego of the edgelord influencer Costin Alamariu, retweeted one of his own posts from March. It is a movie clip depicting a scene of armed men storming buildings and gunning people down. In the text accompanying the post, Bronze Age Pervert jokes that the clip is real footage of a “well-planned neutralization operation” that will take place after Trump wins his reelection campaign.

The MAGA faithful are once again on the internet threatening violence. Lots of Republicans, of course, responded to Trump’s felony verdict with simple outrage rather than calls for a “neutralization operation.” But more extreme language has appeared all across the right-wing posting ecosystem. Some Proud Boys chapters responded with the word “war” on their Telegram channels, as reported by Wired, and Reuters found instances of Trump supporters calling for violence against jurors and the judge in the case, as well as calls for civil war and insurrection.

https://www.theatlantic.com/technology/archive/2024/05/trump-trial-maga-internet-violence/678571/

The rhetoric is getting very disturbing…..

As supporters of Donald Trump flood right-wing platforms with threats against the jurors and judge following guilty verdicts Thursday in his criminal case regarding hush money payments, fears are growing that the influence the Republican presumptive presidential nominee has over his supporters will soon lead to violence.

“Until and unless he accepts the process, the extremist reaction to his legal troubles will be militant,” Jacob Ware, a research fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations, toldReuters.

The former president gave no sign of accepting the legal process Friday as he held a press conference at Trump Tower, repeating claims that the case had been “rigged.”

Shortly after a New York jury announced its verdict in the case regarding documents that were falsified to cover up payments made to adult film star Stormy Daniel just before the 2016 election to keep her from publicizing an alleged sexual encounter she had with Trump, right-wing websites like Gateway Pundit, Truth Social, and Patriots.Win saw an uptick in violent posts from users.

One commenter called for “someone in NY with nothing to lose” to “take care of” New York Supreme Court Justice Juan Merchan, while another on Gateway Pundit directed a threat at any and all opponents of Trump.

“Time to start capping some leftys,” said the user. “This cannot be fixed by voting.”

The reaction is a direct result, said Ware, of Trump’s “insistence that he is being mistreated.”

https://www.commondreams.org/news/trump-supporters-2668430042

Social media could possibly make the reality of violence very likely….for we know how some creeps take all this tough talk to heart.

Just a hint at what they propose….

Even more calls for violence….

“Pick a side, or YOU are next,” wrote conservative talkshow host Dan Bongino on the Truth Social media platform in the aftermath of Donald Trump’s 34 felony convictions.

The replies were even more so.

“Dan, seriously now,” one user wrote in response to Bongino. “I see no way out of all this mess without bloodshed. When you can rig an election, then weaponize the government and the courts against a former President, what other alternative is there? I’m almost 70 and would rather die than live in tyranny.”

That’s a common version of how many people on the US right reacted to the ex-president’s verdict, drawing on a “mirror world” where Trump is seen as the selfless martyr to powerful state forces and Joe Biden is the dangerous autocrat wielding the justice system as his own personal plaything and a threat to US democracy.

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/article/2024/jun/02/far-right-mobilizing-biden-presidency

How likely will all this escalate into a situation of terrible conflict?

Will the idiots heed this call to arms?

In the days of my ‘pinko’ ways we were accused of wanting to destroy democracy and now the very people doing the accusing are doing what we were accused of wanting.

We never wanted to destroy democracy….but my accusers cannot say that.

Biden: “I Have A Plan”

After 8 months of death and destruction using American ordinance the Biden Group now has a plan for the war to end…..and it comes as few Americans support the carnage in Gaza and the election grows near and Biden needs all the help he can get to survive the vote.

Here is his plan….

President Biden on Friday detailed a three-phase deal proposed by Israel to Hamas militants that he says would lead to the release of the remaining hostages in Gaza and could end the nearly 8-month-old Mideast war. Biden added that Hamas is “no longer capable” of carrying out another large-scale attack on Israel as he urged Israelis and Hamas to come to a deal to release hostages for an extended ceasefire. In remarks from the White House, the president called the proposal “a road map to an enduring ceasefire and the release of all hostages,” the AP reports. “It’s time for this war to end,” he added, per the New York Times. The increments:

  • First phase: Implementation would start with a “full and complete ceasefire” for six weeks; a withdrawal of Israeli forces from all populated areas of Gaza; and the release of a number of hostages, including women, the elderly, and the wounded, in exchange for the release of hundreds of Palestinian prisoners. American hostages would be released, and remains of hostages who have been killed would be returned to their families. Humanitarian assistance would surge during the first phase, with 600 trucks being allowed into Gaza each day.
  • Second phase: All remaining living hostages would be freed, including male soldiers, and Israeli forces would withdraw from Gaza. “And as long as Hamas lives up to its commitments, the temporary ceasefire would become, in the words of the Israeli proposals, ‘the cessation of hostilities permanently,'” Biden said.
  • Third phase: Major reconstruction would begin in Gaza, which faces decades of rebuilding from devastation caused by the war.

Biden acknowledged that keeping the deal on track would be difficult, saying there are a number of “details to negotiate” to move from the first phase to the second.

Another plan by the US to solve a problem that can only be solved by those involved in the carnage….at least one of those does not want an end to this thing and the other sees the error of their ways……or do they?

For me this is just the same type of dodge that the 2 state solution has become….just something to appease those voters that are being turned off by Biden’s overall strategy.

BiBi has a plan…..

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Saturday provided a quick answer to President Biden’s three-part plan to end the war in Gaza by saying Israel’s goals have not yet been met. “Israel’s conditions for ending the war have not changed: the destruction of Hamas’s military and governing capabilities, the freeing of all hostages and ensuring that Gaza no longer poses a threat to Israel,” Netanyahu said in a statement. Although he did not clearly endorse or reject the proposal Biden made the day before, the New York Times reports, Netanyahu seemed to dim hopes of a quick end to the fighting even as political pressure on him increased.

Biden’s proposal, which includes the release of the hostages in Gaza, matches an Israeli ceasefire plan that the war cabinet already has approved, two officials told the Times. And a senior political leader in Hamas said the militant organization “will go for this deal” if Israel does, per the BBC. Analysts in Israel suggested that Netanyahu’s statement, which referred to the plan as a nonstarter, appears to be an attempt to delay; two far-right members of his coalition threatened to resign Saturday night if he signs on to Biden’s plan.

At the same time, thousands of protesters filled the streets of Tel Aviv demanding a deal to free the hostages, Netanyahu’s removal, and early elections. Organizers said it was the largest turnout since the Oct. 7 attack by Hamas, per the Times of Israel, though that couldn’t be verified. Family members of hostages addressed the crowd.

Have you seen the Israelis protesting on your favorite MSM?

The whole world wants the carnage to end including many Israelis….but I guess those voices do not count when  you are a bloodthirsty by-stander.

Now we get to hear what BiBi has to say……I am sure it will be applauded vigorously by thew paid performers in our Congress.
