We (Dems) Need To Be Real

2020 we see a rise in progressive ideas….ideas that would benefit all of society….but voters who support these policies need to a grip.

We (Dems) are taking on the ruling class so we can have:

Medicare for All……https://www.sanders.senate.gov/download/medicare-for-all-2019-summary

Green New Deal…….https://www.congress.gov/116/bills/hres109/BILLS-116hres109ih.pdf

Free College and No Student Debt……https://www.vox.com/policy-and-politics/2019/6/23/18714615/bernie-sanders-free-college-for-all-2020-student-loan-debt

These are all popular with the young voters…..older votes are looking at their bottom lines and onward to retirement…..these younger voters are NO guarantee that they will go vote Democrat.

Dems need to stop promising the world and then when they cannot deliver the voters turn on them and vote GOP…….

Dems need to step back from their promise of a “Big Tent”party…..it will not be what they promise.

The divisions that everyone is trying to sort out have been with us  for decades….they now have a leader that will speak out and lie and cheat to get their way…..38% of the population is with this president….even after he lies to them and breaks promises they stay with him….it is not because the economy is doing so well but rather his overt racism against people.

These divisions are here to stay/…promising everything to everybody will not change the tribalism that has been fed by years of programming towards fear.

However there is a few bright spots in Congress…..one is AOC…..if the men had balls as big as hers and her “sisters” then the Dems would have more chances of success….

This is what I am talking about…..

It isn’t often that you hear someone rave about a great congressional hearing they’ve seen online. Heck, outside of big national events, I’m going to bet you have never willingly watched C-Span.

But less than one year since she entered Congress, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who has represented New York’s 14th congressional district since January, has changed that.

AOC has shown a remarkable ability to extract energizing viral moments from stale bureaucratic meetings. She turns complex political concepts into snappy soundbites and boring old politics into much-talked-about spectacle.

This is exactly what happened on Wednesday during her questioning of Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg about his early awareness of the disgraced political consultancy Cambridge Analytica, which harvested millions of Facebook users’ personal information to influence the 2016 US election. The confrontation is uncomfortable to watch, with Ocasio-Cortez grilling Zuckerberg on key details about his knowledge back then – he denies having any – and then ending on the zinger:

“You don’t know? This was the largest data scandal with respect to your company, that had catastrophic impacts on the 2016 election. You don’t know?”

The one issue that the Dems have always dropped the ball on is abortion…..and it has cost votes……

America’s pro-life movement is surging, and not just because of conservative activists—at least according to a detailed New York Times piece about the abortion rights movement’s fragmentation along political, financial, and cultural lines. “It’s really, really complicated and somewhat controversial where the pro-choice movement lost,” says a Rutgers University professor versed in abortion history. With Midwestern and Southern states passing 58 abortion restrictions over six months in 2019, many pointed to years of steady work by conservatives to win state legislatures, pressure judges, and, as the Guardian noted in June, gerrymander districts to win state legislatures. But interviews with over 50 people on the pro-choice side tell another story.

They say national pro-choice leaders had become overly confident, relying too much on President Obama’s abortion protections and assuming Hillary Clinton would win in 2016. Meanwhile, Planned Parenthood was riven by internal discord and apparently didn’t realize the funding problems faced by independent clinics, which perform some 60% of America’s abortions. By one account, pro-choice leaders in swanky New York and California zip codes had lost touch with red-state America. Now Democratic Party presidential candidates are pushing back with ardent pro-choice stands, but polling shows America is still only moderately pro-choice. “I hope they continue doing what they are doing,” says one active conservative. “We’ll run the table in 2020.” Click for the full Times piece.

Allowing the Right to co-opt the term “pro-life” was the biggest mistake.

As I keep saying….”Dems have really good ideas but they suck at politics”.

I could look back and find all the evidence I need to prove my point……but after some thought I ask why bother?  No one will look at the evidence.
