Is Trump a Fascist?

I am sure that this post will chap the butts of some readers…..but please read before you go off on some mindless babbling……

Before I begin let me say…..CALM DOWN!

I know….since I am not a Trump supporter I must be trying to defame him in some way or another…..you are WRONG!

I got to thinking about this when I heard the all the diatribes about Bernie being a socialist and then the ones that call him a Marxist….first that shows me that these people have NO idea what a Marxist is or what they believe…..

Then I have heard the “F” word batted around when some write about Donald  Trump….

There have been many attempts to equate Trump with Fascism….his xenophobia, his speeches on religion or his world overview….while I admit that some of his rhetoric is somewhat nationalistic and, at least to me, a bit disturbing….I do not think he is a fascist……mainly because I do not think he understands the label to begin with……I am not writing about the insult but rather the political ideology…….

I will admit in my younger days as a radical and a protester I had used the term liberally to describe many within our government…but that was when I was young, dumb and full of hate…..these days I have a more laid back approach to analyzing the crap we call government……

Many of Trump’s opponents both Right and Left have tried to make the jump to calling him a fascist……I do not think they use the term for no other reason than a way to try and stop his rise to the nomination…..

I bring this up because I read a good piece in the LA Progressive recently and wanted to press it to see what types of comments I would get……

Source: Is Trump a Fascist? – LA Progressive

Again I AM NOT accusing Trump of being a fascist…..I pressed this article purely as an FYI of what is being said about the candidate….so please read it before you jump to moronic conclusions……

But for the sake of argument let us say that he is a Fascist…..could anything be worse?

God yes!  A Cruz presidency!

The Texas senator is a conniving, fanatical, power-hungry demagogue whose policies would serve America’s 1 percent

Fascism is about the most powerful epithet one can use — but it fits with Donald Trump. A historian explains why

Again!  I am NOT accusing anyone of anything….I am just passing on some thoughts others have had on this subject……but as an analyst I can see lots of similarities between 2016 and the 1930’s Europe…..especially the rhetoric….

If you would like to comment….then now would be the perfect time……

  1. I’m sorry; I really try to be reasonable in my responses but … can you please learn to use another form of punctuation other than ellipses? I really couldn’t even read this even though I wanted to understand your thoughts.

    1. Maybe if this was a grammar class. (period)

I am sorry that the style irritates you….but if you truly wanted to read you would. another period)

in a society where WTF and OMG and LOL are acceptable then I feel that the way I write is up to me….not you.

      Thanx for your input….I think

      1. WTF, OMG & LOL are NOT acceptable! They are the Newspeak of fucktards. 🙂

  2. You speak here right of my hart.
First Americans (a)use words like socialism, marxism, communism, fascism etc., combinations of them without any frame of factual and emotional frame of reference. They (a)buse it with such ease for anything or anybody they don’t agree with.

For me, daughter of parents that were young adults during the occupation of the Netherlands, it was a great shock and disbelieve as I discovered that what I wrote above.

I know what my parents and many others had to endure.
Occupation, bombing, living in the frontline, evacuation, forced labour, hunger. Both, my father and mother had their own horrific experiences tto deal with.
For us, their children, only when we were a bit older we heard a part, rarely the whole story.

Comparisons like you wrote were made foe President Obama. President Bush an more I assume.
As tempting they might be, those comparisons hold no ground.

    Thank you for your conformation!

    1. Glad you appreciate it. I do not like the terms used as insults. Truth is I was a socialist in my youth and I was called many offensive names only by people that had No idea what it was I believed that is stupidity which is different than ignorance. Thanx for the kind words, chuq

      1. In answer to your request I did some research. It is true that that the climate for Muslims in the Netherlands is not a positive one. It can can be graffiti, hate mail, insults, but treats adressed to Mosks are also been reported. Because exact data hasn’t been researched yet, the figures that are mentioned are those from different sources, ad the way they are collected doesn’t give an accurate representation.

There are however voices from different groups, political parties to collect data that gives an accurate representation.
I place a link, it is in Dutch, but the dates and the list from 2001-2015 gives an idea.

As I was reading the list I saw, I was a bit shocked, the name of my hometown.
        A treath concerning the Mosk
This Mosk is just a 15 minutes walk from my home
        It is sad!
The imam of this Mosk orgnises open days, recieves groups in the mosk and does a lot to reduce the prejudice against Islmam and Muslims.

  3. Another link….grin
    I tell you why Trump is a con man, a fraud, a liar, a snake-oil salesman, and a racist. http://bit.ly/1QV4gfv #Trump
    zzzzzz sleep zzzzzz
    wake up sheeple!
    😉

    1. Hahahaa…..
First question for Trump comes from 18-yr-old high school student:
Who will build the wall, as “a lot of Americans are lazy”?
      rotfl…

  4. In bad economic times, people gravitate toward socialism and fascism, but more toward fascism…because it tends to appeal more to angry simpletons. And they’re growing on trees these days.

Trump may, or may not, be a fascist. (MAY!) But one thing is for sure, a big chunk of Trump voters want Fascism, whether they realize it or not. They want heads to be cracked. They want the “foreign, villainous races/religions” to be stopped from sabotaging America…by any means necessary.

Over the last few decades, we’ve been well primed for fascism. We’ve got so many tools of fascism in place (thanks to the MISC)…Democracy is getting weaker by the day. At this point, Fascism is all but inevitable. All that’s missing is the fascist leader. But since Hitler gave fascism a bad name 😉 , everybody runs from the label, even if they back the philosophy.

All that’s required is a populist strongman who doesn’t understand fascism, or doesn’t care get if he gets the label put on him. He must be so convinced of his rightness, so frustrated by the obstacles to him achieving his goals, so cheered upon by the mob, that he’ll do whatever it takes to get his agenda…the agenda The People voted for…in place. Somebody who won’t accept being a “loooosa” like Obama so warmly embraced.

Trump IS that kind of guy. Yes, he’s first and foremost a deal-maker. He’s all about pleasing his audience, making that deal. But if he can’t make that deal…his “Plan B” is going to be a lot closer to “Plan F”.

    1. His success amazes me…..I see a lot of similarities to a book I read years ago about 1930’s Germany, The Nazi Voter…

      1. Yeah, that book rings a bell.

Hitler has 2 TV channels dedicated to him now. But it’s amazing how people still don’t get that Hitler was democratically elected by (arguably) the most cultured, civilized, scientifically advanced nation on the planet. It was just a simple combination of a broke citizenry, wounded national pride, a charismatic leader wanting to “make his country great” and a convenient terror attack….et voila!

That goes to show how fast even the best of our species can turn into mindless, bloodthirsty, mobs without even realizing it. To be fair, most Germans didn’t think it was possible, right up until it happened. Even afterwards, many had trouble fully grasping it. I know a few of them.

Although I think Trump is displaying more Mussolini (on purpose!!!), anybody who can’t at least see some points of comparisons to the 30’s is blind.

  5. I wrote a post about this. It was quite a while ago when my parents and I had a deep conversation about this. They experienced fascism and authoritarianism in the Philippines during the time of Ferdinand Marcos ‘ presidency. According to my parents, trump is currently a populist, who will say and do anything to please his supporters. The leader creates a divide among the citizenry, and this , sadly, is the common trait of a populist.

I don’t know. maybe my parents have just set the bar too high. They will not call a leader a fascist or an authoritarian unless trump passes the test . we still have a Congress ( though some have become mere rubber stamps of this president)
