Democrats Have Their First!

The media has been going on about the Clinton announcement…..they are praying that it will be this weekend……but while they were waiting another Democratic has been the first…..Lincoln Chafee

Former Rhode Island governor and senator Lincoln Chafee announced on Thursday that he’s forming a political action committee to consider running for president as a Democrat in 2016. Chafee made his announcement on a website that included a pair of videotapes messages.

“I’m Lincoln Chafee and I am a Democrat considering a run for president of the United States,” Chafee said.

Chafee has had a rather unorthodox political career. He served in the US Senate as a Republican before losing his re-election bid in 2006. Chafee subsequently left the GOP and became an independent in 2007. He won Rhode Island’s 2010 gubernatorial election as an independent and served in the State House until January of this year.

While governor, Chafee returned to the Democratic party in 2013. His announcement on Thursday makes him the second high profile Democrat to officially consider a 2016 bid following former Virginia senator and secretary of the Navy Jim Webb, who launched an exploratory committee in November 2014. Former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley (D) is also considering a White House bid.

Personally, I like some of the his speech….I also think that he will add more to the campaign for he will be a adequate debater for Clinton……I will admit that being the only NO vote in the GOP for war with Iraq in 2002 does give him a leg up in my mind……

We will see just how serious he is about this pursuit…….

LOL But, when I looked him up and saw that he had a YouTube video announcing his exploratory committee, I thought I’d add it. I must say, its kind of late now to do that. He should have launched that committee a while ago so that he would know whether he was going to through his hat into the ring now or not. But we’ll see. I would like to see SOMEONE run against Clinton. She thinks its ‘owed’ to her and what’s really owed to her is jail time! ‘Buff said!

It started when TV became an important part of one’s life, and then schools started to teach students what was needed to pass a test instead of actually learning the material, and then media sensationalizes every thing so that people are fed drama until they crave it like a drug.

        As I said, I’m not a Sen. Paul supporter, however, he is getting the best FREE advertising right now. As a contender, who could ask for anything more?

      9. You? I was saying you are right! I agree with you 100%, Chuq. The problem is, for years now, people don’t know how to process real answers. I have heard real questions asked by Ed Henry to various WH press people who cannot give a straight answer.

        I was saying that because the kids of my generation became glued to the TV after school and on weekends (if their parent/s would let them), they no longer knew what ‘reality’ was but thought what they saw on TV was reality. Example, the Brady Bunch, I grew up watching this show and so wishing that my family was like them, thinking they were a real family. My children grew up watching the Huxtables, (and various other shows that I can’t think of the names right now), and I explained to them that this is not a real family but one that is put together on TV to look like one. My daughter was ‘in love’ with the smart aleck kid on Tool Time… another ‘family’ depicting show that children of that generation pined for since many of them lived in broken homes and that was the generation of latch-key kids.

        It also was when school began to teach children the content needed to pass the tests, not so they would be able to retain the material. This was so that the test scores would meet the Dept. of Education standards so they would receive State and Federal money. They would have “pizza parties” (and they still do, btw) in order for kids to show up to school on ‘census days’ in order to show how ‘over-crowded’ they are. There is so much manipulation of the children that are now grown up and have become voters. They don’t know to look beyond the rhetoric and the drama because they haven’t been taught to actually ask hard questions! My daughter, who has always been quite bold, asked hard questions to her teachers (in high school and college) and she got shut down because the teacher/instructor did not want her to ask tough questions… just like what happens with the politicians.

        We all know the politicians will tell “their respective groups” what they want to hear to get their vote… and then turn around and do whatever the hell they want anyway and POTUS is the best example of that in history, IMO. But it isn’t just those seeking the presidency, its any office from school board to the White House. No politician is to be trusted. Politics = poli meaning many and tics meaning blood sucking creature.

        People have often said to me that I should run for town council where I live. I have said, “I wouldn’t last long. I would dig my heels in on things that I think are wrong. I swim upstream and I will not go against my conscience and I will not be bullied.” This is why I would never last in politics on any level. I wouldn’t play nice in the sandbox!

        I wasn’t criticizing you, Chuq, or attacking you, if you took it that way. Lord, if you did, I am so sorry! I didn’t put it in the right words then! Forgive me if you thought I was putting blame on you. ~ Rhonda

      10. NO I have no problem……..I just get sick of politicians and the people that vote for them……they will vote a ticket because it is their ticket not who will do a better job……and there is where we have the problems we have now….personalities instead of solutions.

        Reading is the key for me……in a book not on a scene……my grandfather said when you stop learning it is time to die…..

      11. I so envy you. You had guidance in your life… good guidance. This is why I appreciate you so much. I consider you my guidance in absentia and you are patient with me and I have learned much from you in the short time I have ‘known’ you. Already I no longer will vote a straight ticket as I had done. My eyes are much more wide open to the political machine that is Washington DC and the self-serving poli-tics that bleed us dry while they give themselves raises and create new departments that “oversee” us because we cannot think or do for ourselves. Geez, they are now proposing that vaccines be mandated. From your health care to the food you eat, the progressive government is attempting (and largely succeeding) to take control away from “We, the People” and shift it to the government, hence the idea of socialism, no?

        I know that FDR started the beginning of this mess with Social Security and what was then called “Relief”(known today as welfare) and people were ashamed to have to go on relief. Today, its a sense of pride for those who are on it! They get as much as they can from every program because if you qualify for one, you likely qualify for others. I’ve been there and tried to say NO to others… my daughter and her husband had to fight the hospital off, literally, when they said NO, we will pay for our bill in cash, we don’t need assistance. The people actually said, “We can make it look like you qualify.” They were disgusted with them. This is the problem. Those of us who want to get real answers to real questions, will not get a chance to ask them. Hillary announced on YouTube so she wouldn’t have to answer questions. Good grief; like she’s not going to have to answer questions? And try to contact any of those who have put their hats in the ring already and ask a real question and see what you get? You can’t! So, We, the People, have no voice. So then why should we vote? If we can’t ask our questions, we can’t get our answers, then why should we bother voting? When the turn out is sickening small, and Clinton wins, which it is likely rigged for her to win like it was for Obama, our vote doesn’t matter anyway.

        If government should be out of our lives on vacs and food then they need to be out all the way…..on abortion, on drugs, on….well you get the idea……I have NO problem with social security….I pay in and I deserve my payments…..my problem is that some do not have to pay it is like taxes….we bitch about 50% do not pay taxes….but what about the wealthy that gets deals so they do not have to pay what they owe? Few people think about the fact the some do not pay taxes because they do not make enough to owe any…..but they are some how “freeloaders”……every American deserves health care, retirement, education and a descent wage….we can call it whatever we like…..does not change how I feel about this society. We Americans want to hate…..someone….it is always someone else fault that the country is in the crapper.

        The problem with Clinton is the media will be asking softball questions or questions that do not move the conversation forward…..Benghazi, e-mails, and a bunch of crap from the 80’s…..little about the direction she wants to go…..

        Please do not tell me you think the vote was rigged. I will admit that it is rigged a bit by the media for it is a force to control…..the media has eliminated independent thought…..we turn to FOX or NBC or CNN for our opinions…..my grandfather had a name for these but it is too vulgar to repeat……

      13. I’ve heard them called the 3 sewer lines, ABC, CBS, & NBC back before there was cable.

        Independent thought was gone before the media, Chuq. The media just takes advantage of it just like the politicians do.

        And I recall, vividly, as Obama was elected as a Senator, that “we are looking at the next president of the United States of America” and that was on, I believe CNN, because I had been watching CNN because of my son being in Iraq.

        Too many things have been ‘hidden’ about him to prevent the thought that it wasn’t somehow rigged, Chuq. There are too many inconsistencies and too many cover-ups. Even though I’m not a fan, it is very obvious that he is not what he claims to be. He does not know the Constitution and he is in dereliction of duty by not upholding his oath to uphold the Constitution. At every turn, he has done everything he could to undermine what he claimed to have been a professor of!

        He claims that his Alma Mater is Columbia University, however, no one knows him that went to school during the same time that he ‘did’ by either Barry Sotero or Barack Obama. Nor does the professor that would have had him in several classes for the course of his time at Columbia. There were 700 students in the class of that year and for the degree he claims to have gotten there, that dropped the number to 150. NO ONE knows of him.

        The birth certificate that was posted on the WH website is a forgery and is easily proven so with your .pdf program. Lift layer after layer and you get to the original birth certificate and it isn’t his.

        If is walks like a skunk and smells like a skunk, its a skunk.

        The same goes for Hillary Clinton. She has a LOT of baggage and not just the Benghazi (to which she is completely responsible for) or the email issues/server issue. She has a history that goes all the way back to her law practice in the ’80’s. She has A LOT of baggage and she is announcing her run for candidacy of president of the United States on YouTube? Really. This way no questions so no answers have to be given. She looks like she’s ‘hip’ and ‘with it’ to the younger generation. Bull puckey! She is avoiding the press as long as she possibly can. She doesn’t ‘deserve’ to be president like she ‘thinks’ she does.

        I agree with the ‘freeloaders’ and now we have a nation full of hispanic freeloaders! We have many, many on death row for decades that are freeloaders.

        Government needs to be downsized and term limits need to be put in place for ALL… the House, the Senate, and the Supreme Court!

        This Obama bashing does no one any good…..it is used to keep people focused on anything but what is important…..there are children going to bed hungry in this country and we focus on some mundane crap like he may be gay….of his… well whatever….none of which will solve a single problem other than feed the fire of hate.

        Americans are haters we hated the Chinese, Italians, Irish, Japanese, Vietnamese, Cubans and now it is the larger group Hispanics….there will be another in the not too distant future….we must hate and we must blame someone for our problems and its always a minority….

        Look at Clinton…..everyone is digging up dirt….the issues and solutions mean nothing….this is why this country is losing its battle with the future…..

        Now, with regards to “haters” of the larger group Hispanics, you overlook the incredible fact that there are MILLIONS of them here ILLEGALLY. This flies in the face of all the immigrants that came here legally. Also disregarding the fact that We, the People are paying DEARLY for their being here in every way possible from every government program to paying for their 3 hots and a cot for the illegal activities they have been arrested for and not small charges either.

        As far as Clinton, one doesn’t need to dig far to get dirt.

        You talk about ‘there are children going to bed hungry in this country” and I would have to challenge that. There is absolutely NO reason that any child should go to bed hungry in this country, Chuq. There are SO MANY outreaches available to the parents from government to churches to soup kitchens, et al. This particular comment incenses me because I have been a part of the groups that have ‘fed the hungry children’ and the parents know exactly how to work the system. If those children go to bed hungry, it is on their parents, not on society, or our government. That is was Child Protective Services is for. There are REAL children REALLY going hungry in other countries every day because all they get is one meal a day of RICE, if they are lucky.
        THIS IS THE GREATEST COUNTRY and the most HUMANITARIAN as well. This country has fed many people in many countries. Religious organizations have fed many people in many countries as well. THEY ALSO FEED THE CHILDREN HERE. There is absolutely NO REASON any child in this country should ever go to bed hungry. No excuse is acceptable if they live in this country.

        It is the time of mudslinging… the race for 2016 has begun. The mud will be slung on both sides. THIS PISSES ME OFF!

        If each one would simply focus on THEIR OWN ISSUES, SOLUTIONS, ANSWERS, ET AL, would be a true race for the office of POTUS. But they won’t… the one that raises the most money wins. That’s bull puckey too! Stand on a soapbox if you have to and tell the people who you are, what you stand for, what your vision is, what your solutions are, how you plan to see them through. So what about how much money one camp has over the other?

        The media makes such a big deal about that. And, they are still comparing who places where and there are only 4 actual candidates, I believe, 3 Republican and 1 Democrat? So why continue to decide where those 4 place with the others that have been running around? They haven’t declared yet so THEY DON’T COUNT!

        This is what makes politics so disgusting, Chuq. This is what make being a politician a dirty word.

        BBC has no interest in the outcome so I have no interest in their opinion on the politics in OUR Nation. If I wanted to know about THEIR Nation, I would watch.

        Reuters is who rolled out Hillary’s YouTube announcement. She is doing everything she can to avoid the press. She can run but she can’t hide, Chuq.

        Americans hate, from your perspective and I’m sorry for that. From my perspective, I see a different America. I see one that has been extremely generous despite We, the People’s consideration. I see an America that Obama has single-handedly destroyed on an International level, and has been the most divisive president when he had the unique opportunity to bring the country together being both black and white. However, once he won, he was no longer white, he was only black. He will go down in history as one of the worst presidents in history.

        I fear that there will not be an America for my grandchildren, Chuq. The ‘fabric’ of this Country and the Founding Father’s Documents have been redefined by the progressives. The U.S.A. is a young Country and if she is to remain, someone needs to get in there and undo all the damage that has been done.

        I heard a blip that Chafee was backing Clinton, btw.

        I apologize for the strong words. We see two different Americas. I agree that bashing anyone will not SOLVE problems. The MEDIA should be the one asking the questions, the hard questions that cause the candidates to have to give hard answers. I don’t like the mudslinging regardless of where it comes from!

        As for POTUS, I am in agreement with you, I hate his policies, not necessarily the man, however, it is hard to separate them when he has to stop golfing to make a PSA about a beheading of an American journalist, and 6 minutes later he is seen fist-bumping with his golfing buddy back on the green. In contrast, Britain’s PM came out of his holiday immediately, Jordan’s King took swift action, and even Bush stopped what he was doing and went to the WH. These are just some examples as to why people have a hard time separating his policies from his person.

        You are 100% correct that the Supreme Court is making law instead of following law. This is another reason for term limits.

        I think that the older Americans remember that the Cubans came here illegally. The younger generations (post JFK) have no idea. But weren’t they given sanctuary for fleeing a terrorist regime? And Cuba was added to the list of terrorists? And now POTUS is removing them from that list? I am not sure about the sanctuary as it happened while I was a baby, though I do remember the boatfuls of people that were rescued by our government and brought here. Some tried to swim here, so I’ve heard… this is desperation, IMO. Those that are now “fleeing” the so-called evil countries, WE are funding! Our government sends millions to each of those countries, including Mexico. If they are misappropriating those funds, we should pull them OUT! But they don’t and we continually have a flood of people coming over the boarder, and the boarder patrol has been made impotent to do anything about it. In addition to the ‘hispanics’ that are coming across, there have been Syrians, Iranians, Iraqis, et al., yet POTUS will not secure that border.

        I hate that the presidential race is all about money! It should be all about the candidates platform, et al. NO MUDSLINGING ALLOWED! Just give us the facts, answer OUR questions, give us a way to contact you online to ask the questions w/o your solicitation of our money!

        Speaking of Alex Jones… I JUST discovered him. Had never heard of him before! Never been a fan of Limbaugh either. Beck has gotten a lot of things right ahead of time, but he’s gotten weird and I will NOT pay to watch or hear anyone that I don’t already get on my expensive satellite TV!

        When Hillary posted her announcement for candidacy for POTUS, she talked about only the top people have the money. On my blog, I asked, “Exactly where does SHE think she places herself on that scale?”

      28. Good idea! I will eventually do that when I get some of my ‘irons out of the fire’ here. OMGosh! I have so many books to list on Amazon.com, which is why I have been largely MIA as of late. However, I received a phone call yesterday that welcomed me into the National Association of Professional Women! This, to me, is a great honor! Once I finally get through the listing of all of my books, I have to go to half.com and list the DVD’s and CD’s. I also have to print and label all of the books I am donating to my daughter’s church library, and there is a specific selection that I would like for them to donate to the prison ministry that they take books to so I have to print smaller labels as I want to promote my ministry site since I am donating A LOT of books! It will not be in my name, but the name of my ministry. SO… those are two irons in the fire! I finally got to sleep in my bed last night as it was blocked by so MUCH stuff! You can only fit so much in this room and I have to be able to turn my wheelchair around! LOL That’s a joke! Oh, and not get tangled up in my oxygen hose! So, I will be requiring a mirror for backing up! LOL

        I wanted to ask you, have you ever read John Locke? I have a paperback copy of Two Treaties of Government, like new condition, if you want it (I have a feeling you already have it though!) Tell me about it if you can. Someone once told me I should get this book so I did, but have never opened it. I bought books because they don’t spoil, but they do go out of print.

        I also, have a lot of notebooks, from taking notes at church! They may come in handy for my ministry site. Who knows? I just have to get to THAT iron!

        John Locke (1632–1704) is among the most influential political philosophers of the modern period. In the Two Treatises of Government, he defended the claim that men are by nature free and equal against claims that God had made all people naturally subject to a monarch. He argued that people have rights, such as the right to life, liberty, and property, that have a foundation independent of the laws of any particular society. Locke used the claim that men are naturally free and equal as part of the justification for understanding legitimate political government as the result of a social contract where people in the state of nature conditionally transfer some of their rights to the government in order to better ensure the stable, comfortable enjoyment of their lives, liberty, and property. Since governments exist by the consent of the people in order to protect the rights of the people and promote the public good, governments that fail to do so can be resisted and replaced with new governments. Locke is thus also important for his defense of the right of revolution. Locke also defends the principle of majority rule and the separation of legislative and executive powers. In the Letter Concerning Toleration, Locke denied that coercion should be used to bring people to (what the ruler believes is) the true religion and also denied that churches should have any coercive power over their members. Locke elaborated on these themes in his later political writings, such as the Second Letter on Toleration and Third Letter on Toleration.

      30. It sure does! I just KNEW you knew about him and the book! He sounds like his political views were influential with our Founding Fathers. The pursuit of life, liberty, and property was originally what was in the constitution, but then it was life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. How does one define happiness? At any rate, you summed up John Locke and the book very well. I will sell it. I don’t have the attention span to read books anymore and it is sad to me as I used to devour books until I had so many children to take care of that I couldn’t even sit down for a moment. I only had two, but I babysat all the time for others and then we became foster parents and were license to have up to 4 children in addition to our 2. Oftentimes the asked us if we would take more than our license permitted in order to keep siblings together, and of course I would want the siblings together, so I said yes! So Social Services broke their own rules repeatedly (in several areas). At any rate, that was the end of my reading. At that time, however, I was reading fiction. WASTE OF TIME!!! I should have been reading non-fiction and learning something! Oh well, can’t go back now. So, I will list it on Amazon as see if it sells. I have several books on Amazon, mostly Christian books. I am listing audiobooks on eBay because Amazon doesn’t allow you to list CDs or DVDs, So I just go to my eBay or half.com account and sell there! LOL But this is so tedious to list SO MUCH! But I have to do it. I had amassed quite a library of books because books don’t spoil, but they do go out of print. I had envisioned giving them to my grandchildren. But now I need the money that I can get from them. I sold two book the other day, one that had been listed since Feb, and one I listed that day! So as it goes… on one hand, it breaks my heart to see my beautiful hand made book shelves being emptied; but they will be filled with other things that mean something to me as well so it is such a quandary. Either way, I am blessed ~ always.

      34. Hunger is real, and parents that take their government assistance and trade it for drugs is neglect. Schools are feeding children breakfasts and lunches and some after school programs feed them again, all at tax-payer expense.

        When I worked in the Food Pantry that we founded in our church, we had women that would come through and say, “Oh, no, we don’t eat no generic mac and cheese, we only eat Kraft, you got any Kraft?” This is just one example of MANY. There was no shame and very few ‘thank yous’ and even fewer that would help to load the food into their vehicles. And the women came dressed, their nails done, but their children were in shambles so they could get sympathy for them.

        We see two different sides to the same coin, Chuq.

In my area the state and feds have done away with most feeding programs or it comes at a cost….not much admitted but if there is no money hoe do you pay the price……I have worked for the local housing programs and found that most people are there a short time before they move on……yes we see different sides of the coin….I have been where some are….at one point I lived in a tent on a river and there are fewer programs than most people think….or hear about in the news…..

      36. I hear you. As a young married person, my ex-husband and I would walk the streets checking for change in all the phone booths, on the ground, etc. for enough to buy a pack of cigarettes. We ate out of dumpsters numerous times. We’d go to the mall and take cigarettes out of the ashtrays of sand. We had food stamps that would have fed us, but he would take them and buy a small item and get the change so he could play the video games. I was pregnant with our first child at the time. He didn’t care if I was exhausted, or in danger of eating something from the dumpster that would make me sick, so smoking someone else’s cigarettes – God know what they could have had!

        After I divorced him and had 2 small children 15 months apart, with the youngest just a baby, I had to seek help from a church down the street from me. I was very ashamed that I needed to ask. They brought me a huge box of baby food that fed her for the duration of her eating baby food and transitioning to table food. I had a friend that worked in the grocery store across the street from me who would call me and tell me she is putting out on the curb some milk and eggs that are expired but are still good. We ate eggs all the time. My AFDC check paid the rent. There was barely enough money left over to buy diapers and when I ran out, I used dish towels and diaper pins.

        I thank God that my children never had to experience not having a roof over their heads but they had many other things because of mismanaged food stamps, WIC lasted only so long each month, etc All government programs.

        Unfortunately, you didn’t qualify for all the programs I did because you didn’t have a child with you in that tent, correct? AND to add insult to injury, you were a vet and couldn’t get assistance from any veteran source. THAT is an indictment against our government. And I am sorry that you had to live that way, Chuq.

      37. Being a vet gets you nothing not even that cup of coffee we use to hear about……I did fine…..my training taught me many things and I was fine…me and the two dogs that found me in the woods

      38. I’m sorry that you were treated so badly, Chuq, It was, and is, not right. Thankfully, your training was helpful to you when your own country wasn’t there for you. I truly am sorry.

      39. Actually, I was never so happy….I had to depend on myself for everything and my decisions effected no one but me…..

      40. True… you were your own man and still are and I respect you the more for it. I just have such disdain for our country for how they treated our service men and women at that time. My heart and soul goes out to all the Vietnam Vets, including you. I am not expressing any pity, if you take it that way. I am extremely disappointed by this Nation’s attitude toward those that put their lives on the line to keep it safe. The military, the law enforcement, the firefighters and EMS, etc. has all lost the heroism that they deserve for what they do, and those that throw a pigskin or a baseball, or a basketball, or shoot a hockey puck, and now MMX, are “heroes.” Something is wrong with society when this has happened.
