Opinion from the desk of the Editor
Today I will tackle the rest of the world and its obscene conflicts……
We have so much on our plate….there is Gaza, Ukraine, Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan and Russia…..which way to turn…..which crisis to deal with first……who do you call?
For now let’s talk about Putin…..6 months ago the American Right was having a bromance with him because of his forcefulness and his decisiveness….and now he is Satan incarnate to the Right….they really need to pick a stand and stick with it.
V. Putin grew up in the now defunct USSR, he worked as a KGB operative and now he is the Prime minister of Russia, after being the president and after being the prime minister…..anyway when he grew up he watched the USSR act as a power in world politics with influence throughout the world and now as the leader he wants to see his beloved Russia return to global prominence.
Should we condemn him for this desire?
To me it sounds like the babble coming from the mouths of Graham and McCain they keep rattling on and on about the US needing to return to its place as the power in the “civilized” world.
So what is he doing wrong? Is it his tactics? Is it his verbiage? Just what is he doing that is not to their liking?
The problem is, as I see it, he is doing what he thinks is best for his country…..we may not agree….but then we are not Russian either.
So for as I see it the only difference between Putin and what the duo of McCain/Graham wants is……..Putin is acting……McCain and Graham are talking.
Looks like a strong sense of jealousy by the Babbling duo……..the only action we see out of McCain/Graham is when they dash to the closest microphone to rattle on and on…..
I am not by any means trying to justify Putin and his attempts to grab land and influence……all I am saying is that I can understand why he would be ass deep in the internal affairs of Ukraine…..it is his longing for the “good old days”.
Our failure in diplomacy has led to an animosity toward the U.S. that took years to earn. Prof. David Kaiser did an excellent piece on this subject the other day entitled Diplomacy: Then and Now
It’s worth a read
Will do thanx for the link…..I am looking at a comparison between 1979 and today with Russia….it is looking kinda similar…
