When In Doubt–Take Cover

Ah the soothing sounds and smells of the weekend….a time to reset the brain for the coming week and all the horrors it can produce.

Did you know since the Newtown shootings there have been 74 other incidents along this line?  people are dying at an alarming rate that seems to be accelerating at an alarming rate.

Schools seem to be the most vulnerable….children as targets of morons with guns……that is just sick!  But now a company has answer to all the deaths in our schools from gun violence…….

The Bodyguard Blanket, made by ProTecht, is a bulletproof 5/16-inch pad that the company says is made from the same materials used by the U.S. military.

Steve Walker, a podiatrist who conceptualized the blanket, toldThe Oklahoman that the idea came to him after two tragedies: the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School, and the tornadoes in Oklahoma. He said the idea was to “stop that blunt-force trauma when that rubble is falling down on a child.”

The blanket has straps that can be fastened around users like a backpack. The lightweight pad is made of a high-density plastic used for ballistic armor. The material can also protect users from nails, shards of metal, and other sharp objects.

After testing the blanket at a shooting range, the makers said it provided protection against bullets from a 12-gauge buckshot, a .22-caliber, and a 9 mm, among others.

An entrepreneur has seen the need and has come up with a solution…..of course he will make profit but if it saves lives….so be it.

My problem is that there is a need for this product.  Children are an easy target and they are made so because some moron wants to own a 100 shot rifle that can make him feel like a man.

Off the soap box Chuq……….our children should not need a bulletproof blanket in their schools….they should be safe while learning…..a little pathetic that the “greatest” country in the world would need such a product.

  1. A 100 shot rifle! Wow, haven’t seen one of those for a while. Maybe the anti-gun crowd could move to Iraq. ISIS just issued some rules and unless one is a part of ISIS it’s illegal to own or possess a gun. Just think how safe you’ll be. The army is the only entity to have guns! Damn! I sure feel safe!
