Paul/Beck: WTF Moment

Okay I admit it….I have seldom been very polite to the Right’s Glen Beck…..I have made fun of just about everything he has ever said…..is it possible that I may have been mistaken about this fellow?

Some will say that I have been right on….and others will call me names for my attacks on him……

May I suggest that anybody who has ever read my blog….please have a seat for I am about to shock the crap out you………

I apologize to Glen Beck for accusing him of being out of touch…..why would I do that?  Politico has published my reason…..

Glenn Beck is admitting he was wrong and liberals were right for opposing the invasion of Iraq.

“[Liberals] said we couldn’t force freedom on people,” Beck said at the start of his Tuesday radio show. “Let me lead with my mistakes. You were right. Liberals, you were right, we shouldn’t have.”

“From the beginning, most people on the left were against going to Iraq,” Beck said. “I wasn’t.”

The talk show host explained that when a possible invasion of Iraq was being discussed, he believed Saddam Hussein was backing terror against the United States and that something had to be done.

“In spite of the things I felt at the time when we went into war, liberals said, ‘We shouldn’t get involved, we shouldn’t nation-build’ and [that] there was no indication the people of Iraq had the will to be free,” Beck said. “I thought that was insulting at the time. Everybody wants to be free.”

On Tuesday, Beck said, “You cannot force democracy on the Iraqis or anybody else, it doesn’t work. They don’t understand it or even really want it.”

Beck does have his moments of brilliance……or least he has admitted his mistake….more than most people on the Right would ever do…….

But I do not expect him to be as forthcoming on other issues……..but it is nice to hear some on the extreme Right admit their mistake…….

And then there was another bombshell….at least for me….and this one came from Rand Paul (go figure)……….when talking about the situation in Iraq he stated…….

“I think the same questions could be asked of those who supported the Iraq War,” Paul said of Cheney’s op-ed. “You know, were they right in their predictions? Were there weapons of mass destruction there? That’s what the war was sold on. Was democracy easily achievable? Was the war won in 2005, when many of these people said it was won?

Paul went on to note many current Iraq War supporters also are concerned about the situation in Iran.

“They didn’t really, I think, understand the civil war that would break out. And what’s going on now — I don’t blame on President Obama. Has he really got the solution? Maybe there is no solution. But I do blame the Iraq War on the chaos that is in the Middle East,” said Paul. “I also blame those who are for the Iraq War for emboldening Iran. These are the same people now who are petrified of what Iran may become, and I understand some of their worry.”

Okay I have been successfully caught off guard by these revelations……..if you know anything about string theory then you know there are parallel dimensions…….apparently I have stepped over into one of them…….

Benghazi Drives Islamophobia

I have recently come to the conclusion that most Tea party people are haters and racists…….I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt for years now but they write and speak and it just becomes more clear with every post on the blogosphere………they hate anyone who does not agree with them……

The Heritage Foundation use to be a respected think tank….well respected by most pundits but that means very little to me…….but it has become a Tea Party hate mill…..it has lost all credibility in the past couple of years……and recently even more has been lost…….

A panel on Benghazi at a conservative think tank devolved into finger-pointing and “ugly taunting”—targeted at a law student wearing an Islamic head scarf, Dana Milbank writes in the Washington Post. Asking a question from the back of the room, Saba Ahmed noted that “we portray Islam and all Muslims as bad, but there’s 1.8 billion followers of Islam,” adding that the 8 million American Muslims didn’t appear to be represented at the meeting. As Elias Isquith notes at Salon, from there the panel quickly deteriorated into an “Islamophobic freak show.”

Panelist Brigitte Gabriel replied that “180 million to 300 million” Muslims are “dedicated to the destruction of Western civilization.” She noted that “most Germans were peaceful, yet the Nazis drove the agenda.” She asked Ahmed whether she was American, then dismissed her “political correctness” as belonging “in the garbage.” When Gabriel asked why others weren’t “speaking out,” she got a standing ovation, Milbank notes. Then moderator and radio host Chris Plante asked, “Can you tell me who the head of the Muslim peace movement is?” Ahmed’s quiet reply: “I guess it’s me right now.” “The facts never had a chance,” writes Milbank, amid “anti-Islamist rhetoric that too often sounded just anti-Islam.” Media Matters has video of the exchange; Milbank’s full piece is here and Isquith’s is here.

The Right is so afraid of the rest of society that it must find someone to demonize……..who knows who it would have been if 9/11 had not happened……..we can only guess……..

I have seen NOTHING about the so called “Christian Right” that is either Christian or Right……I refuse to believe that any of these people, the religious types, knows what it means to be Christian.  Personally, I want no part of their form of “Christianity” if it means treating others as some how sub-human.  The whole world would be better off without them!

What About The Benghazi Thing?

First Syria explodes……then Ukraine becomes an international mind screw…..now Iraq is a roaring inferno fanned by the hot winds of sectarianism…..but in all that time there has always been Benghazi…….that scandal that is not so much a scandal but rather a fantastic fundraising tactic……..now recent events have made it clear exactly what the Right is really doing……..

There has been a wealth of the Right beating their chest that the President is NOT trying to capture and punish those who attacked our people….here are just a few of them and what they had to say……..

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas): In November, Cruz criticized the Obama administration for failing to use a State Department program that offers rewards to people with information about terrorists in order to track down the Benghazi attacker: “The State Department’s Rewards for Justice Program exists to help the US identify and apprehend its enemies, but the Obama administration has not used it to pursue the terrorists who attacked our personnel in Benghazi,” he said.

Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.): In August, Issa, the chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, which has held numerous hearings on the Benghazi attack, harped on the administration’s “delay” in apprehending Abu Khattala: “If our government knows who perpetrated the attack that killed four Americans, it is critical that they be questioned and placed in custody of US officials without delay,” he said.  “Delays in apprehending the suspected Benghazi killers will only put American lives at further and needless risk.”

Sens. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), Kelly Ayotte (R-N.H.), and John McCain (R-Ariz.): In a February letter to Obama, the three GOP senators wrote, “In almost 17 months, none of the terrorists have been brought to justice. The families of the murdered Americans deserve to see the terrorists brought to justice. Moreover, terrorists around the world need to know that if they kill Americans, we will hunt them down and bring them to justice. Allowing terrorists apparently involved in the attack to sit and give interviews in cafés sends a dangerous message that there are no consequences for killing Americans.”

Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah): “[L]et’s not forget the Benghazi terrorist attackers,” Chaffetz told USA Today in October. “There’s been no visibility on whether or not we’re pursuing that.”

Rep. Frank Wolf (R-Va.): In August, when the Justice Department filed charges against Abu Khattala, Wolf suggested the administration wouldn’t have acted without Republican pressure. “I think they’re feeling pressure to do something, to show they’re making progress,” he told the Washington Times, adding that charges against suspects have likely been delayed by “confusion” among US law enforcement authorities.

But what do they have to say now?………there has been a capture…….

US Special Forces captured Ahmed Abu Khattala, the man long suspected of leading the 2012 attack on the US consulate in Benghazi, over the weekend in a secret raid, official sources tell the Washington Post. American troops, working with the FBI, apprehended Khattala near Benghazi, and are currently holding him in “a secure location outside Libya,” the sources say.

Khattala has in the past admitted involvement in the attack, but denied leading it—all while mocking Libyan authorities as too “chicken” to arrest him. Federal prosecutors filed charges against him and a dozen others last year, and the State Department in January designated him as a “senior leader” of the Benghazi branch of the terrorist group Ansar al-Sharia. “When the United States says it’s going to hold someone accountable and he will face justice, this is what we mean,” one official boasts.

You would think that they would be silent for awhile………..NOT these guys and gals………….Now with the suspect in custody the Right is screaming for the man to be sent to Gitmo for trial…..why is that important?

Easy!  At Gitmo he would get a military trial where all info and evidence would not be on public record…….is that a bad idea?

You betcha……if he is tried in a Federal court all evidence and info will be on public record…….and while on public record may shoot all the holes in the spurious scandal BS.  And if it turns out not in the GOP’s favor then all that cash raised off of this fake scandal will dry up and will NO longer be anything but a memory.

Then the country will see that Benghazi was always about money….NEVER about the truth or the 4 dead Americans……Americans will see the GOP for what it has always been…..and opportunistic sham!
