The first weekend of the new year and time for a much needed mental rest…..have been going full tilt boogie since December 5th when my father died…..yes now is the time to sit back and just let the world revolve and leave me the Hell alone…..if you know what I mean?
We all have had moments in our lives when we were trying to accomplish something and everything goes horribly wrong, right? For me those are “Ah Sh*t” moments!
And this story is a big “ah sh*t” moment….probably the biggest……
(Newser) – Sad news from Pittsburgh: An orthodox rabbi is being sued for accidentally severing a baby’s penis during a traditional bris ceremony, CBS Pittsburgh reports. Rabbi Mordechai Rosenberg allegedly botched the bris eight months ago, forcing the baby to be hospitalized for almost two months and undergo six blood transfusions. But doctors say the penis was successfully reattached. “It doesn’t always work,” said a surgeon who wasn’t involved in the case. Even after successful “microsurgery”, “sometimes the nerves don’t heal well beyond where you reattached it.”
Rabbi Rosenberg says on his website that he is a “certified mohel” and notes that a doctor’s medical circumcision “is not considered valid according to Jewish law.” However, attorney David Llewellyn tells CBS that the training of mohels is dangerously unregulated: “I think the government probably should require some sort of training if this is going to be done,” he said. But Rosenberg said he is “trained in this” and called the incident a “horrible situation” and a “tragic accident.” He has continued to perform circumcisions.
What does this guy have to do before someone intervenes and puts this guy out to pasture? You know there are three people you never want to hear utter the traditional ‘oops’….those are a bomb tech, your surgeon and the hairy dude that is threatening your penis with a tool that looks like it came from the Spanish Inquisition……
I think any Jewish parents who are aware of this and still decide to let the rabbi perform this ceremony has only themselves to blame should something go wrong again.
all I can thinbk about is the pain it would cause…..ouch!
A detachable penis. What will they think of next? I know a guy who had his eyelid torn off, and they used a foreskin for re-constructive surgery. It worked Okay, but everybody thought he looked a little cock-eyed 🙂
Drum roll…I heard about the rabbi that saved the foreskins and made a beircase out of them….it said that when he needed a larger vessel all he had to do was stroke it a couple of times….
All this humor about such a wickedly ironic, truly karmic incident is certainly hitting below…. no, I won’t do it, I won’t say it, or type it… I’ve got too much respect for myself, and you, chug, to stoop to such a thing, even in the light of such depths of stupidity…. So, no drum roll for me, just a rim shot… ba da boom. S’okay, I’m sure the thread you’ve started will find plenty of responders with ever increasingly “ouch” scenarios to relate…. Portability notwithstanding (so to speak), this inadvertent tragedy doesn’t bode well for the lad’s life to come…
I agree…..his life will be sucky at best…on;y if there is a medical miracle can save him from a life time of ridicule….we humans are a heartless bunch…..chuq
