First Sunday of the New Year and a religious epiphany………
Doctor’s tell us that we will die if we do not change our eating habits……but then almost anything you eat will kill you……fat is the enemy….both in food and on your person…..but there is too much information out there and just how much is really true is anybody’s guess…….we Americans pick and choose what we like and flush that which we do not…….
My personal fav was that eggs were gonna kill me……now they are not so bad, then there was wine…too much and you are a wino and now wine has been proven to be good for the heart and then there is……oh crap! Enough talk! What is the point of this post? BACON!
Bacon is a horrible choice for eating, right? An alternative is turkey bacon…..yum, f*cking yum!
Yes, Irene…there is a GOD!
Pork bacon’s got a bad rap for wreaking havoc on your cholesterol. But is turkey bacon really any better?
The Truth: Stick with the pig. As far as calories go, the difference between “healthy” turkey bacon and “fatty” pig is negligible—and depending on the slice, turkey might sometimes tip the scales a touch more. Additionally, while turkey is indeed a leaner meat, turkey bacon isn’t made from 100 percent bird: One look at the ingredients list will show a long line of suspicious additives and extras that can’t possibly add anything of nutritional value. And finally, the sodium content of the turkey bacon is actually higher than what you’ll find in the kind that oinks—so if you’re worried about your blood pressure, opting for the original version is usually the smarter move.
Yes! Eat your damn bacon and tell the health freaks to suck an egg….oh wait that might be a bit inappropriate……on second thought…..screw ’em! Eat BACON and enjoy yourself……
I think you’ll find that the REAL truth is that, assuming you don’t already have a major health problem, most things in moderation will do you little if any harm and whatever you like will probably do you good because you enjoy yourself – in MODERATION…
Did you guys and gals out there get that? In moderation is the key. Gluttony is the danger – not the bacon, or the jam, or the salt, or the cigarettes, or the wine, or the… well, you get the point I’m sure.
The other fact is that all these speculative suggestions as to how many of these everyday things are bad for you is that EACH ONE provides a superb opportunity for yet another study. What about blogging for instance? How much is too much and bad for you? What might the long term effects be?
Hah! Now, what was that number to ring to apply for a grant???
So “super size”is out? Damn!
Oh, I don’t think anything will change – I’m simply saying that, if people REALLY wanted change, it’s not rocket science…
But then, much the same applies to politics – one set of assholes or another – tinkering, but no actual change to what is ACTUALLY wrong – the basics – the system!
We both know that people want change, but will not do what it takes to achieve it……
So, do they in truth REALLY want it??? Maybe they’d like it, but WANT? I’m not so sure…
Hard question to answer….but after you watch them vote…..they are NOT serious about it……or things would NOT remain the same…
