Revisionism–It’s The Government’s Fault

Daily Agitator

From the VOMITORIUM

We have all heard the rumblings from the Right…..the government is at fault….does not matter what we were talking about…it is always the government’s fault.  It never fails someone will accuse the government of something and then there will be hundreds jumping on the bandwagon….right now it is the oil spill in the news and yes, you have it, it is the government’s fault…..

As usual I was watching the early morning news and came across CNBC’s famous Maria Barto……whatever her name is…and this morning while the panel was discussing the oil spill she said that it was like the finanacial crisis…the government’s fault…because there were no less than 400 agerncies involved in the regulation of the financial sector…this was her example…..and she tied it to the agencies that oversee the drilling stuff…she made a point to emphasize that less regulation was better somehow…..

It struck me that she was for no regulation and uncontrollable greed….yes!  I said GREED!…..in the financial sector and in the oil industry.  I mean this kinda irritated me….because capitlaism has become a dis organized operation that enoronously rewards price fixers, exploiters, con artists, gamblers, stock manipulators and in general most forms of corruption…..it has created a class of thieves with NO policemen.

I will, in sorts, agree with Maria and agree that she is a spokesperson for this class and a cheerleader of uncontrollable greed……and IMO she is probably the best person to be the spokesperson for the Banksters (bankers + gangsters…a term popular in the 1930’s).

Like I said, I agree with her, somewhat…..it is the government’s fault……Why?…I knew you would ask that…..the government was moronic to trust the industry, whether it be financial or oil, to do the right thing and play fair…that is the first mistake of the government…..2nd mistake was allowing Clinton and his Gang to repeal Glass-Steagall….3rd mistake was a treasury department with its head up its butt and lastly and the most important mistake was the American people for putting their blind trust in a group of NO CLASS people to represent them in Washington.

This returns me to Maria…..she, like ALL other journalist, have an agenda and that agenda is one of hegemonic control……l know…huh?  Anything done to promote and control the system and the media is our hegemonic control….and Maria is doing her part to further the agenda that the government is too large and in being so is at fault.  If you think I am wrong then just listen to the questions that the pundits ask the guests on their shows….they are all leading questions and the answer will be used to continue this control.  So the theory is if you say something is so long enough and often enough…it will be believed.

Watch the boob tube and especially the news….pundit after pundit will come forward and make this claim or that and after a significant amount of time a poll is taken and the results will show whether the mind control has taken or if further indoctrination is needed.  And the American people are perfect subjects for this type of control.

  1. Well, I see your points but then, in my opinion, the woman you quote was in part, at least, right – as are all those others that blame the government too!

The only place I disagree with the government beaters is that my accusation is that things like the financial crash and the oil spill are governments’ fault – notice the position of the possessive apostrophe and the lack of the definite article – or for the less erudite – ALL fucking governments for the last God knows how many years!

I would ask you a question: isn’t it your view as well as mine that all governments ever do when they don’t know what else to do is to introduce new legislation? And isn’t it also a fact that it almost never solves ANYTHING?

The truth is that this disaster is almost directly the result of the Exxon Valdez disaster and various US governments’ since utter failure to make them PAY – IN FULL with no ifs, buts, or excuses. IF that had been done – and quickly – then BP would undoubtedly have been MUCH more circumspect about safety and contingency plans because they would have KNOWN they were in for a SERIOUS financial thrashing if (when – sooner or later?) it went belly up.

All the legislation in the world can’t stop accidents, but greed will always dictate that the bean counters look at the potential cost of claims against their employer and advise accordingly. If an accident is going to cost a bomb, they say “NO”, but if it’s likely to be affordable and less that the cost of proper safety and contingency plans, then they say “YES” – MUCH more effective than complicated legislation!

Simple legislation is ALWAYS better than the convoluted crap that lawyers and bureaucrats dream up to keep themselves in a job and ONE agency in overall control will ALWAYS be more effective than hundreds who are all in competition with each other and rarely have a central goal apart from their own supremacy and glorification.

Legislation and endless ineffective bureaucracy is just total shit and a waste of time, money and effort. If Obama doen’t make BP pay IN FULL this time, then he will have failed – but he may not be ABLE to – because of his own (or others’) complex legislation will provide loopholes for BP to crawl through, or enble them to tie up the US government for decades in complicated legal argument that will itself eventually mean they will wriggle out of most of their responsibility.

So, in my view, it IS (all) governments’ fault and (most) legislation IS counterproductive – sorry!

    1. No need to apologize……then the government should be able to plug the hole……but that would cost money and since we have none we just throw diatribes at it and hope it blows itself out…if there had been NO government invoilved from the start then I suspect that this would have happened earlier and more often……if I am NOT forced to wear my seat belt I will not and the a/holes drilling will not think of safety if not made to…..to me it is so simple…..

      1. Sadly, as you’ve just found out, trying to make them toe the line fails – whether that’s because officials have been bought, or are just crap at their job, or the system’s totally shit is neither here nor there, although I’d suspect all three.

The government can do little NOW expect make BP pay – if they have the balls!

That way, if they really do manage it 100%, a repeat if soooooo much less likely it almost disappears from view!!! The one place (probably the ONLY place) greedy people are vulnerable is in their wallet!

Like I said – use their own greed against them!

      2. If only that would work….I still have my doubts…but for now I will concur…..(reluctantly btw…lol)

    2. Well, there’s no way to know and (in theory) I agree with you, but we know that what we have DOESN’T work and I can’t see that adding more convolutions to an already over complicated system helps.

I probably don’t have the right answer, but we need SOMETHING new – that’s for sure.

The only thing I would say is that the US is NOT a free market – it’s protectionist, price fixing, and often downright crooked.

There is a way though – remove ALL protection from EVERYONE for ALL corporations – open it all right up and NO ONE is too big to fail, remove most of the red tape wherever reasonably possible and then support, assist and encourage start-ups by individuals and small groups.

That would do two things – it would make existing corporations compete openly and properly and stop taking the piss out of everyone (especially the customers) and it would help the jobs situation enormously over quite a short time because there are a whole load of good, hard-working people out there with good ideas who are just unable to get round all the complex and hugely expensive regulation at present, which all favours the big guys – heck it was WRITTEN by the big guys for that very purpose!

      1. As usual very insightful and I agree…scrap the crap and find a new way……btw I had 28 spam today and one wants to teach me how to train my penis……thinking……

      2. Really? What an interesting concept – I presume you signed up immediately 😆
