Is This A ‘Reichstag Fire’ Moment?

BY now with all the media coverage every swing dick in this country has an opinion on what is happening in LA.

For me it is a “Reichstage Fire” moment…..if you have no damn idea what I am saying then ask Google….after many years of threatening the use of American military an opportunity has finally arrives and Donny found his excuse.

As President Donald Trump deployed U.S. Marines to Los Angeles on Monday in response to protests against immigration raids and the violent arrest of a popular labor leader, California Attorney General Rob Bonta’s office announced that he and Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom sued Trump and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth over their weekend takeover of the state’s National Guard.

“President Trump’s order calling federalized National Guard troops into Los Angeles—over the objections of the governor and local law enforcement—is unnecessary and counterproductive. It’s also deeply unfair to the members of the National Guard who are hard at work every day protecting our state, preparing for and responding to emergencies, and training so that, if called, they can fight our nation’s wars,” Bonta said in a statement.

“Let me be clear: There is no invasion. There is no rebellion. The president is trying to manufacture chaos and crisis on the ground for his own political ends,” he added. “Federalizing the California National Guard is an abuse of the president’s authority under the law—and not one we take lightly. We’re asking a court to put a stop to the unlawful, unprecedented order.”

“Donald Trump is creating fear and terror by failing to adhere to the U.S. Constitution and overstepping his authority. This is a manufactured crisis to allow him to take over a state militia, damaging the very foundation of our republic,” Newsom, who widely seen as a 2028 presidential contender, said Monday.

“Every governor, red or blue, should reject this outrageous overreach,” he argued. “This is beyond incompetence—this is him intentionally causing chaos, terrorizing communities, and endangering the principles of our great democracy. It is an unmistakable step toward authoritarianism. We will not let this stand.”

California Makes History

This time it is not news of wildfires or mudslides or earthquakes…..nothing as a natural disaster but rather the possibility of an economic disaster (if you believe what the naysayers are on about)……

The state of California has moved to ban gas powered cars….this ought to set the GOP’s hair on fire…..here is what is reported…

California has followed up its move to phase out gas-powered mowers with an even more ambitious goal—phasing out gas-powered cars. The California Air Resources Board voted Thursday in favor of banning the sale of new gas-powered cars, pickup trucks, and SUVs by 2035, the AP reports. After that date, people will still be able to drive older gas-powered vehicles, but the state will only allow the sale of new electric or hydrogen-powered vehicles, plus a limited number of plug-in hybrids. More:

  • Newsom wants to make the tailpipe obsolete. California Gov. Gavin Newsom, who first announced the plan in 2020, tells the New York Times that the move is “one of the most significant steps to the elimination of the tailpipe as we know it.” “Our kids are going to act like it’s a rotary phone, or changing the channel on a television,” he says.
  • Other states are likely to follow suit. California is the nation’s biggest buyer of vehicles, and the move will have a big effect on other states. Washington and Massachusetts have already announced plans to follow suit, and another 15 states follow California’s emissions rules, which are tougher than federal rules. “Automakers don’t like making different cars for different states, so California sets the de facto standard for the country and other parts of the world,” Vox notes.
  • Auto industry is on the same page. While there are massive production challenges ahead, including sourcing enough raw materials for batteries and expanding charging networks, major US auto makers and their overseas counterparts are moving in the same direction as California and are spending tens of billions of dollars to expand their electric vehicle offerings, reports the New York Times. Ford wants 40% of its vehicles to be electric by 2030 and Volkswagen plans to phase out gas-powered vehicles in Europe by 2035 at the latest.

Pushback. The California rule, called the CARB Advanced Clean Cars II rule, still requires a waiver from the Environmental Protection Agency. While the Biden administration has signaled it will be granted, opponents are urging the EPA to reconsider. Reuters reports the American Fuel & Petrochemical Manufacturers trade association urged the administration Thursday to reject the “unlawful ban,” saying granting the waiver “would hand over sweeping federal government authority to California regulators, effectively appointing Governor Newsom and CARB as car and truck czars for the entire United States.”

This ought to fire up the fear mongers….more ammo for the naysayers…..

But has anyone stop to think about the draw on electric grid if we all go electric?

A “Constitutional Republic”

Closing Thought–01Dec21

No this is not some attempt to define or explain the silliness raging across our country…..

I seems that some small town in California has had enough on Covid mandates…..

A small city in northern California where many residents have grown weary of COVID mandates has declared itself a “constitutional republic.” The declaration passed in a 6-1 vote this month by Oroville City Council states that the city will not enforce orders issued by the state and federal governments “that are overreaching or clearly violate our constitutionally protected rights,” the Los Angeles Times reports. Vice Mayor Scott Thompson says the last straw for him was the vaccine mandate for students over 12 introduced by Gov. Gavin Newsom last month. He says he’s not anti-mask or against other people getting vaccinated, but vaccine mandates are “crossing the line.”

Thompson and other city officials describe the declaration as a way to send a message. Mayor Chuck Reynolds told the East Bay Times that in practical terms, declaring the city a republic “doesn’t change anything,” but is “simply reminding people what kind of government we live under and that they do have personal choices and freedoms.” UC Davis Law Professor Lisa Pruitt tells CBS Sacramento that the resolution probably doesn’t have any binding legal authority. Schools in Oroville remain under the state’s jurisdiction and city officials stress that they’re not actually moving toward seceding from California or the United States.

Oroville, the seat of Butte County, has a population of around 20,000, with almost equal numbers of Republicans and Democrats. Vaccination rates are well below the state average and COVID infection rates are high. City officials say most business owners support the declaration. Opponents include Celia Hirschman, whose father died from COVID three months ago. “It says we’re cowboys, and we’re not going to live by your rules,” she tells the Times. “I don’t think it’s about open dialogue at all. I feel it’s a dangerous measure that they have no business adding to our charter.”

More games during the pandemic…..this does nothing to keep people safe or save lives…..it’s only purpose is to make the profit chasers happy.

The World Is On Fire!

Greece, Turkey, China, Siberia, North Africa, Brazil and The United States it is all burning and of course climate change is making it worse….but all that is another post…this Saturday I would like to talk about the fires that are raging in California…..

The Dixie Fire has scorched about 450 square miles of forest to including an entire town…..then there are some smaller fires….some of those were started by a single person…..and an arrest has been made…..

A college professor was charged Tuesday with what the Sacramento Bee calls an “arson spree” in Northern California, near the massive Dixie Fire. Gary Stephen Maynard, 47, who has worked at multiple colleges in the state, was arrested Saturday. “Over the course of the last several weeks, Maynard has set a series of fires in the vicinity of the Lassen National Forest and Shasta Trinity National Forest,” an assistant US attorney wrote in a detention memo, going on to note that Maynard allegedly set at least one fire near the still-not-contained Dixie Fire, which engulfed the entire town of Greenville last week.

So far, Maynard is charged with setting Lassen County’s Ranch Fire, and could face up to five years behind bars and a $250,000 fine if convicted. Prosecutors say mental health issues may be involved. Authorities began investigating Maynard on July 20, after a US Forest Service investigator found him underneath a car near the Cascade Fire, which broke out that day. He at first refused to get out from under the vehicle or identify himself, then acted erratically once he did come out, authorities say. Witnesses told police Maynard had been “mumbling a lot and having bipolar-like behavior,” including brandishing a knife. Authorities used tire tracks left at the scenes of multiple fires, among other evidence, to determine arson was involved, KCRA reports

5 years and $250,000….seriously?

If it is true then this person has destroyed an entire ecosystem and that is the best they can do as a penalty?

The system he destroyed is irreplaceable….there should be MORE consequences than the stated possible outcome.

Just thinking out loud!

You Think Your Wanker Is Yours?

Last day of mental relaxation before the crap flows from Washington….and speaking of a good f*cking…….and since I did not wake up dead…the end of days must have passed me by….or I was raptured out……either way…..a blogging I will go!

Before I go on let me say that what a governor does boinking the help or some arrogant Frenchmen schtooping the chamber maid is NOT news…..some where there is REAL news that needs to be covered….and speaking of wankers and what you can do with them…..(how is that for segway?)

Women and their bodies have been at the mercy of politicians for decades….let us see how far it goes now that men’s bodies are the subject of legislation….

We have seen some of the referendums that California has on its ballots from time to time….gay marriage comes to mind….first we have then we don’t……some strange stuff has come out in the voting process in old California….but this one just blows my mind…completely…..

As San Francisco voters head to the polls Nov. 8 to decide who should serve as the next mayor of The City, they will also decide whether to ban male circumcision. If approved by voters it would amend The City’s police code “to make it a misdemeanor to circumcise, excise, cut or mutilate the foreskin, testicle or penis of another person who has not attained the age of 18.”

Doing so would result in a fine of up to $1,000 and up to one year in jail.

I know that the government wants to tell women what to do with their bodies or that it wants to define what marriage is so that certain people cannot do it…..But come on!  Now my genitals do not belong to me until I am eighteen….some where this country and its politicians have to get a grip on things and get over themselves….where does the line get drawn…..and when will the small government conservatives stop trying to run my life for me……I know what is best for my johnson……Anyway…..I have one thing to say to elected representatives…..BITE ME!

A Typical Response

It seems to be a trend in American culture….that it is NOT my fault….always someone else’s,,,,the economy is a good example…..fingers were pointed in every direction….same with the Gulf Oil spill….NO one wants to take the responsibility for their actions…normal people are just as bad as the “Fat Cats”……

Read this and see what I am talking about…..

The part that got to me was that the driver had to flee the scene because people were attacking him…..think about that for a minute…..it was his fault that Drunken MORONS were standing about 10 feet from where he had to come out of the turn…..and it is somehow his fault that people got hurt when he lost control…..that about it?

This is why I dislike most people….few “man up” to their f*ck ups….

Arnie Gets Sued

Looks like this is an Arnie type of day……

Two public employee unions on Monday sued Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger to block his effort to furlough state workers in a cost-cutting measure as California’s treasury runs out of money.

Last week, Schwarzenegger issued an executive order to require that all state employees take two unpaid days off each month starting in February. The governor said the measure is needed to conserve cash, with the state budget gap estimated to reach $42 billion a year and a half from now.

The lawsuit, filed in Sacramento County Superior Court, asserts that only the Legislature can alter the pay of workers who have labor contracts with the state. It asks the courts to issue a temporary stay to stop Schwarzenegger’s efforts, which could affect 230,000 workers.

Schwarzenegger attempted a few months ago to unilaterally reduce the pay of state employees, but his order never took effect. State Controller John Chiang said the state’s payroll system was incapable of carrying it out. The matter eventually stalled in court.

Schwarzenegger has indicated he is willing to approve the increased gas, income and sales taxes the Democrats have proposed. But he is also demanding changes to California’s environmental and labor rules to give businesses more power over their employees’ hours and to allow private contractors to take a larger role in public construction projects.

Arnie For Prez?

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger hasn’t said if he would pursue another job in politics after his term ends in two years. But there’s one position he might be interested in, if he were eligible for it: president.

“Yeah, absolutely,” Schwarzenegger said in an interview Sunday when asked by “60 Minutes” correspondent Scott Pelley if he would like to be president.

At the moment, becoming president would be impossible. Schwarzenegger, who was born in Austria and became a U.S. citizen in 1983, is not a “natural born citizen” of the U.S., as required by the Constitution.

Let me hear from those who think that there should be a dispensation to allow Arnie to run.  Or from those of my readers who are in Calif….is he a good governor?  Thoughts please.

California’s Better Plan?

California is poised to pass the first law in the nation linking greenhouse gas emissions to urban planning, a departure from the growth approach that spawned the state’s car culture and urban sprawl.

The measure, known as SB375, aims to give existing and new high-density centers where people live, work and shop top priority in receiving local, state and federal transportation funds. The idea is that such developments check sprawl and ease commutes, in turn cutting the car pollution wafting through the Golden State.

Authored by Sen. Darrell Steinberg (D-Sacramento), the bill reflects California’s push to slash its greenhouse gas emissions by 25 percent by 2020. Sponsors say the measure is part of a much-needed growth policy for a state whose population is expected to swell to 50 million from the current 38 million in two decades.

The state’s legislature recently green-lighted the measure, and Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger (R), who aims to make California a trendsetter in fighting global warming, is expected to sign it into law once the state balances its long-overdue budget.

If he does, the state’s Air Resources Board will set emission-reduction targets for 17 major metropolitan planning organizations responsible for housing and transportation projects. A separate bill, also expected to be signed by the governor, would designate financial resources to these organizations.
