“Let Them Eat Cake”

+++Again a short day….my hospital visit starts at 0800 with labs, doctors then treatment….all that will run into the afternoon….I will not be writing much more since I will feel like crap…..I will take the rest of the day to recover because I will be up to my butt again come Friday with my chemo….please enjoy your day and this post…..I shall return in force tomorrow.+++

That is a famous quote from the French Revolution the queen when asked about the food shortages had that to say about the starving people….and now the situation is approaching critical here in the US.

That bill that Donny and his GOP thugs passed and he signed into law will work wonders for the states that gave this ‘person’ the most support….Red States….

What do Louisiana, West Virginia, Oklahoma, and Alabama have in common?  For one thing, they’re red states. For another, they’re poor states. Each has among the top 10 highest percentages of residents on SNAP, or food stamps.

And finally, every one of their Republican lawmakers voted for President Trump’s so-called “Big Beautiful Bill” — which will result in the largest cut to SNAP in history, at $186 billion through 2034.

The bill doesn’t just cut federal SNAP spending. It also, for the first time, shifts much of that burden to the states. So state governments will need to raise taxes, cut spending, or further slash benefits to meet these added expenses. Others may eliminate their SNAP rolls entirely.

SNAP offers taxpayers a tremendous return on investment. “One study estimates that every SNAP dollar invested in children returns $62 in value over the long-term,” the Center on Policy and Budget Priorities reports.

So GOP lawmakers aren’t making these cuts because we can’t afford SNAP. They’re doing it to offset some of their deficit-busting tax breaks for corporations and the wealthy. Taking food from kids to give billionaires a tax break? Talk about Robin Hood in reverse.

In an open letter to congressional leaders, 23 state governors — including the leaders of historically red states like North Carolina, Kansas, and Kentucky — call these SNAP cuts “unrealistic” and warn they will “result in too many Americans forced to survive rather than thrive.”

Red states will be among the hardest hit, but it’s a truly national problem. In 2023, the USDA found that 13.5 percent of U.S households were “food insecure,” meaning they have a “limited or uncertain availability of nutritionally adequate and safe foods.” SNAP benefits currently serve more than 40 million Americans, almost half of them children.

This is so sad.

I have spent a good portion of the last 5-6 years trying to understand why the states and its voters are so in love with Donny and his backward thinking policies.

What will it take to break the hold that these thugs have on the voter?

Someone please explain all this devotion.

Is this the reason that the GOP hates education….to keep these mindless fools from wanting more out of life?

If so I weep.

He’s Coming For Your Kids

Anyone that has enough intelligence to watch the news knows just how much Donny loathes education along with his silly cronies in the GOP….he, Donny, proves how much he hates educated kids almost daily….

Since President Donald Trump went back to the White House in January, his administration has been on a frenzied and haphazard tour gutting existing government agencies, flouting norms and attempting to force conservative values across the government. Much of this effort has, ostensibly, been laser-focused on ending or curtailing diversity, equity and inclusion efforts.

So it may seem discordant that the administration also has announced investigations into several school systems for allegedly violating federal laws surrounding student civil rights, threatening to pull their federal funding if they don’t comply.

Until, that is, you realize the schools are mostly in blue states. And the allegations all have to do with questionable claims about transgender kids.

“They’re using schools and education as a big battleground for their culture wars,” Will Ragland, a researcher at the left-leaning think tank Center for American Progress, told HuffPost.

Throughout his campaign and the early days of his second term, the president has claimed that American schools are failing because the Department of Education is pushing so-called radical left-wing ideas such as teaching about the history of racism in the U.S. or reading books with LGBTQ+ themes. It’s a common talking point in conservative circles, despite the fact that the agency does not set curriculum.

Then there is those dolts in the GOP they have a hard-on for education since about 1980 and it just keeps getting worse with every election.

Red states suffer the mist from a lackluster education……like red state Mississippi which is the least educated state….

50th Place – Mississippi

Once again, the Magnolia State finds itself at the tail end of the American educational race. This isn’t a new view for it, as it’s often seen the back of the pack when it comes to schooling systems. But wait, there’s more! This educational rollercoaster doesn’t seem to have an end in sight, with the state’s academic woes continuing to pile up.

The Magnolia State, Mississippi, has sadly earned the dubious distinction of being the nation’s least educated state, according to WalletHub. Other reports echo this sentiment, with Education Week giving it a disheartening ‘F’ for academic achievement and a ‘D’ for student success. But can you guess which state is nipping at Mississippi’s heels, vying for second-to-last place?

If you would like to see where your state falls on the least to most stat….

https://parentinfluence.com/educated-states-in-the-us-is/2/

Red states keep making laws that have nothing  to do with educating children and more about insane fears of problem that do not exist…..Voters in red states are idiots and the stats show why.

Education of our children is too important to be sidetracked with bullshit.

More On The Critical Race Theory

This is is big deal these days within the dwindle GOP ranks…..Red state after state is trying to pass laws against teaching this to students…..

In case you spend more time worrying about Britney and her stupidity let me flesh out the jest of the theory……..

Critical race theory is an academic concept that is more than 40 years old. The core idea is that race is a social construct, and that racism is not merely the product of individual bias or prejudice, but also something embedded in legal systems and policies.

  • Recognition that race is not biologically real but is socially constructed and socially significant. It recognizes that science (as demonstrated in the Human Genome Project) refutes the idea of biological racial differences. According to scholars Richard Delgado and Jean Stefancic, race is the product of social thought and is not connected to biological reality.
  • Acknowledgement that racism is a normal feature of society and is embedded within systems and institutions, like the legal system, that replicate racial inequality. This dismisses the idea that racist incidents are aberrations but instead are manifestations of structural and systemic racism.
  • Rejection of popular understandings about racism, such as arguments that confine racism to a few “bad apples.” CRT recognizes that racism is codified in law, embedded in structures, and woven into public policy. CRT rejects claims of meritocracy or “colorblindness.” CRT recognizes that it is the systemic nature of racism that bears primary responsibility for reproducing racial inequality.
  • Recognition of the relevance of people’s everyday lives to scholarship. This includes embracing the lived experiences of people of color, including those preserved through storytelling, and rejecting deficit-informed research that excludes the epistemologies of people of color.

Got it now?

Even religious types are against the teaching of the CRT (Critical Race Theory)…..

Pastor Dr. Byron McWilliams explained to his congregation on Sunday that God condemns critical race theory — an academic movement that seeks to provide a greater understanding of racial justice.

In his sermon at First Baptist Church in Odessa, Texas, McWilliams reported on his attendance at the recent Southern Baptist Convention.

One of the accomplishments, he said, was the denouncement of critical race theory.

“And the reason why is because it’s a theory of man,” McWilliams explained. “And it goes directly against the word of God, where the word of God of says that every man and every woman was created in the image of God regardless of the color of their skin.”

“And so that’s why we denounced that,” the pastor added to applause.

It was not immediately clear how critical race theory contradicts the Bible.

Me as well.

From The ‘Can’t Fix Stupid’ Files

Closing Thought–22Apr21

This sector of IST keeps expanding…..for there is a wealth of stupid out there I intend to shine a lot on as much as possible.

Meanwhile back in the Red States of the New South….where the important issues are abortion and bathrooms….not the solutions to the problems of the residents.

This is yet another stupid law that would invade the lives of people…..

Arkansas GOP Governor Asa Hutchinson did a good thing and vetoed a bill that would criminalize healthcare for transgender kids. Naturally, the Republican-majority legislature in the state was less than pleased, but determined to make their their state even more inhospitable to transgender people than it already is just by virtue of being Arkansas. So they overrode the veto. The Arkansas House passed a bill allowing teachers to misgender their students and call them by the wrong names, and now they want to pass another, equally terrible bill meant to facilitate discrimination against trans people.

The “Arkansas Privacy Accommodations Act,” (HB 1882), sponsored by Rep. Cindy Crawford (not that Cindy Crawford), would allow people who happen to encounter a trans person in the bathroom of a public agency or entity to sue for “monetary damages for all psychological, emotional, and physical harm suffered.” How one would even begin to quantify something so ridiculous is unclear.

The bill is set to go before the State Agencies and Government Affairs committee today, and will likely be passed, given that the Arkansas legislature seems to really hate trans people.

Co-sponsoring the bill is none other than Mary Bentley, the Arkansas Republican who was the primary sponsor of both the bill that would allow teachers to bully trans students and the bill to teach creationism in schools. She’s a real peach.

The bill defines “sex” as “a person’s immutable biological sex as objectively determined by anatomy and genetics existing at the time of birth” — a definition clearly meant to appeal to transphobes who don’t even know intersex people exist. However, it also says that “evidence of a person’s biological sex includes without limitation any government-issued identification document that accurately reflects a person’s sex.”

Surprisingly, it is actually fairly easy to change one’s gender on an Arkansas driver’s license — all one needs to do is to ask the clerk at the DMV office to change the gender to M, F or X. Because guess what? As super backwards as Arkansas is, they have a nonbinary gender option on their driver’s licenses, and they were the first state to do so, back in 2010. Go figure.

Now, sure. They expressly say “that accurately reflects a person’s sex,” but how the hell are they going to know? Are they going to actually inspect people’s genitals? Ask to see their birth certificates to see what gender they were assigned when they were born? How far are they planning to take this? And boy, won’t things get awkward in these bathrooms when these transphobes think they see someone who is of the “opposite sex” in their bathrooms but isn’t? Will they still be entitled to damages for the “psychological, emotional and physical harm” suffered if they’re wrong? Because there are many, many ways this could go wrong, especially if Arkansas expects transgender men to use the women’s room and expects transgender women to use the men’s room.

Once again the Red States find a solution that there is no problem….instead of trying to end hunger or homelessness or education they prefer to worry about bathrooms and the sensibilities of morons.
