When Stupidity Is King

Have you seen the movie “Idiocracy”?

It explains a lot that is happening these days….plus it was released in 2006….very prophetic.

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0387808/

When did the GOP lose it’s collective mind?

In 1960, the sociologist Daniel Bell published a book titled The End of Ideology that argued the ideological battles of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries had subsided. A “rough consensus” had emerged, Bell wrote, at least in the West, on the need for a welfare state, a mixed economy, and political pluralism. President John F. Kennedy echoed Bell’s theme in a speech at Yale’s 1962 commencement. “The central domestic issues of our time,” Kennedy said,

relate not to basic clashes of philosophy or ideology but to ways and means of reaching common goals—to research for sophisticated solutions to complex and obstinate issues…. What is at stake in our economic decisions today is not some grand warfare of rival ideologies which will sweep the country with passion, but the practical management of a modern economy.

The moment didn’t last. Ideological warfare resumed in the United States with the rise of the New Left in the late 1960s and with the rise of the New Right in the early 1980s. Today, those ideological storms have subsided. This time, though, ideology is over not because right and left have reached rough consensus; far from it. The contest is done because the Republican Party walked off the field. We have arrived at the end of GOP ideology.

Personally I agree with those people that think this ‘stupidity’ is a threat to our beloved society…..

It may sound like an insensitive statement, but the cold hard truth is that there are a lot of stupid people in the world, and their stupidity presents a constant danger to others. Some of these people are in positions of power, and some of them have been elected to run our country. A far greater number of them do not have positions of power, but they still have the power to vote, and the power to spread their ideas. We may have heard of “collective intelligence,” but there is also “collective stupidity,” and it is a force with equal influence on the world. It would not be a stretch to say that at this point in time, stupidity presents an existential threat to America because, in some circles, it is being celebrated.

Although the term “stupidity” may seem derogatory or insulting, it is actually a scientific concept that refers to a specific type of cognitive failure. It is important to realize that stupidity is not simply a lack of intelligence or knowledge, but rather a failure to use one’s cognitive abilities effectively. This means that you can be “smart” while having a low IQ, or no expertise in anything. It is often said that “you can’t fix stupid,” but that is not exactly true. By becoming aware of the limitations of our natural intelligence or our ignorance, we can adjust our reasoning, behavior, and decision-making to account for our intellectual shortcomings.

This stupidity just keeps getting deeper and more dangerous by the year.

Have you noticed that most of the GOP banning around the states are of those things that scare the GOP the most?

“I feel like there is a coddling of the conservative mind,” said Reid. “The conservatives don’t have the confidence that their ideas can be sold on the basis of presenting them as ideas. They have decided that we can’t convince people to do what we want and live by our religion, so we will tell the federal government to enforce it. I don’t like this book or drag shows. The thing that I feel uncomfortable with, I don’t feel confident that I can convince people to come to my side, so I need the power of federal government to ban the things that make me uncomfortable.”

That attitude, Reid said, looks like “an intellectual collapse and sense of defeat.”

From The ‘Can’t Fix Stupid’ Files

This time it is the mouth of the House minority leader, Kevin, The Weasel, McCarthy…..

His words show that all civility has left the building…..

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) joked over the weekend that it would be hard for him not to hit Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calf.) with a gavel if the GOP wins control of the lower chamber in next year’s midterm elections.

At a dinner on Saturday evening, members of Tennessee’s Republican congressional delegation gave McCarthy an oversized gavel with the words “Fire Pelosi” on it.

“It will be hard not to hit her with it but I will bang it down,” McCarthy reportedly joked, according to Washington Post reporter Michael Scherer.

(thehill.com)

Is this the way that statesmen talk?

Civility is gone in our government.

It is all about hating the ‘other’ side.

It is sickening and very pathetic that our ‘leaders’ have descended into this stupidity.

There are calls for this d/bag to resign for his unfeeling and undignified statement….

The Kevin McCarthy-Nancy Pelosi feud has taken on an aggressive tenor: Speaking at a Tennessee Republican Party fundraiser Saturday night, the House minority leader addressed the possibility that he may become Speaker of the House after the midterm elections. “I want you to watch Nancy Pelosi hand me that gavel,” he said. “It’ll be hard not to hit her with it, but I will bang it down.” Democrats quickly spoke out against the violent imagery, NBC News reports, with one representative calling for an apology and another calling for McCarthy’s resignation. So far, they’ve gotten neither; a McCarthy rep said the lawmaker was “obviously joking.”

McCarthy had been gifted a giant gavel reading “Fire Pelosi” at the event, reports Fox News, which notes other Democrats are also calling for McCarthy to resign. As for Pelosi’s deputy chief of staff, he tweeted, “A threat of violence to someone who was a target of a #January6th assassination attempt from your fellow Trump supporters is irresponsible and disgusting.” This is just the latest in the back-and-forth between McCarthy and Pelosi over the House select committee’s investigation into the Capitol attack (McCarthy pulled all his picks for the panel after Pelosi vetoed two of them) and the reinstated mask mandates in the House (Pelosi recently called McCarthy a moron in that matter, CNN reports). You can hear McCarthy’s gavel remark here.

Joking?

Idiocracy–The Movie

Closing Thought–23Jul21

8 Years ago I wrote about the direction of this country and compared it to a movie, Idiocracy….

A great movie several years ago. A piece of work by Mike Judge the creator of Beevis and Butthead and King Of The Hill….the movie is about an experiment by the military to put a soldier in hibernation and revive him a your later….well something went horribly wrong and he woke up 500 years in the future…and boy has everything changed!

It seems that intelligent people postponed having children and the morons multiplied like rats….needless to say the government was run by asshats with an IQ the same as their shoe size….it is totally screwed up!

A good cult movie….if you get the chance watch it and then compare the movie to what is happening today….it will scare you!

Idiocracy

It looks like someone has drawn the same conclusion….a bit late….8 years late…..but g;ad to see that others see the prophetic power of this film…..

Are we living in the age of stupid? The era of the idiot? The answer of course is yes, with examples of monstrous moronicism everywhere – from climate deniers to the “plandemic” crowd who believe Covid-19 was cooked up in Bill Gates’ basement. On the other hand, human beings have always been illogical creatures. A better question is whether we are, as a species, becoming dumberer. If this is already the era of the idiot, what comes next?

An “Idiocracy”, according to film-maker Mike Judge. The Beavis and Butt-head, King of the Hill and Silicon Valley creator’s dystopian 2006 comedy (which he directed and co-wrote with Ethan Cohen) arrived with its own terminology to help us prepare for the upcoming reality TV special that we may call The Collapse of Reality Itself.

Suggesting that morons rather than nerds will inherit the earth, and that the results will be catastrophic, the film begins with a context-setting intro so real it hurts. Judge cuts between an intelligent adult couple discussing why they won’t be having children right now (“not with the market the way it is”) and a … less intelligent couple breeding like rabbits (“I thought youse was on the pill or some shit?”).

https://www.theguardian.com/culture/2021/jul/19/idiocracy-a-disturbingly-prophetic-look-at-the-future-of-america-and-our-era-of-stupidity

I recommend this movie for its content….and just see if you come away with a sense of doom for our future.

Closing Thought–21Jul21

There is stupid and then there is the Moronic Stupid……and Alabama’s Mo Brooks is the lead stupid….especially on masks and vaccinations…..

In the letter, Brooks casts doubt on the safety of COVID vaccines, calling them “experimental” and adding that it’s “understandable” for Americans to be hesitant to take them. Also in the letter, Brooks suggest masks could be linked to cancer.

“…I suspect time will reveal that masks, while arguably promoting health, also endanger the health of those who wear them,” Brooks wrote. “Masks have small fibers that regularly loosen and are lodged in users’ lungs. Some masks have inks and dyes which, when consumed by lungs, have unknown cancer and other health risks. Certainly, all or almost all masks reduce oxygen intake into the human body, with all the risk this imposes. There is also the unknown risk that, in the heat and humidity of summers in the South, heat stroke risks increase among mask wearers.”

https://www.rawstory.com/mo-brooks-masks/

And somewhere there is a pathetically stupid ball-scratcher that will retweet this stupidity….

How sad this is…especially for the average voter in Alabama…..even more pathetic is there will be those that will take his stupidity as serious science.

Brooks proves the theorem…..”Can’t Fix Stupid”…..

I thought Texas was about the worse state government in this country….sadly Florida is closing in on that distinction……

If that idiot Ron DeSantis gets his moronic way,,,,professors ans students will have to declare their political sway……

Public universities in Florida will be required to survey both faculty and students on their political beliefs and viewpoints, with the institutions at risk of losing their funding if the responses are not satisfactory to the state’s Republican-led legislature.

The unprecedented project, which was tucked into a law signed Tuesday by Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis, is part of a long-running, nationwide right-wing push to promote “intellectual diversity” on campuses — though worries over a lack of details on the survey’s privacy protections, and questions over what the results may ultimately be used for, hover over the venture.

Based on the bill’s language, survey responses will not necessarily be anonymous — sparking worries among many professors and other university staff that they may be targeted, held back in their careers or even fired for their beliefs.

https://www.salon.com/2021/06/23/desantis-signs-bill-requiring-florida-students-professors-to-register-political-views-with-state/

Seriously?

What will they do to me if I refuse to register my political views?

Mr. DeSantis……BITE ME!

This could become a thing for all Red legislatures….but sorry my political views are just that….MINE!

It is NO secret that FOX News’ Tucker Carlson is a moron.

I understand why MSNBC had the good sense to cut this babbling buffoon lose…..when he gets on his lame soap box he proves every time what a screaming d/bag he truly has become.

His newest diatribe is about people who have the good sense to wear maks to help save them from the morons that refuse to mask up.

Fox News host Tucker Carlson raged against the idea of wearing face masks on Monday night, telling his viewers to openly mock those they see wearing masks outside.

“Your response when you see children wearing masks as they play should be no different from your response to seeing someone beat a kid in Walmart. Call the police immediately. Contact Child Protective Services. Keep calling until someone arrives,” Carlson said.

“What you’re looking at is abuse, it’s child abuse, and you are morally obligated to attempt to prevent it.”

Watch the shirt video enclosed in the article.

Now if I were told to remove my mask my first response would be “f*ck you”….then if more was needed I would reply….”my mask comes off when you and your ilk learn to manage your stupidity”.

Then I would say please make me….I have a lawyer on speed dial and I will own you and everything you have….so please grow a set and make me.

Hannity must be pissed that he is no longer the lead crazy on FOX.

Carlson is the prime example of just how far down the idiot hole the Right and its pundits have traveled….

Yet another example of how you just “can’t fix stupid”.

More Trump Antics

We all know the stuff that Donald the Orange has been spreading in his daily campaign rallies on TV……but there are other things he will be doing behind the scenes that may not be reported…..and that is why I write……

Dr. Trump has made a pronouncement that the worse is over with in this country and we will soon be back to work……

“The data suggests that nationwide, we have passed the peak of new cases.” That was the word from President Trump Wednesday as he promised that certain parts of the US would soon begin to reopen, the BBC reports. Per CNBC, Trump said new cases of the coronavirus are “declining” in New York and are “flat” in Denver and Detroit; the rate of new cases across the US has been declining for the past six days. While the latest federal guidelines to slow the spread of COVID-19 go through May 1, Trump said some states may begin to ease restrictions before that. The AP reports that Dr. Deborah Birx, the White House coronavirus task force coordinator, noted there are nine states with fewer than 1,000 cases and just a few dozen new cases each day, and that those will likely be the first to see social distancing restrictions eased.

“I would say that we have 20 states, at least, but you really have 29 that are in extremely good shape. You have others that are getting much better,” Trump added Wednesday, echoing the CDC director’s comments that same day that “19 or 20” states could be ready to reopen by May 1. The White House is set to discuss guidelines for reopening the country Thursday, and the AP says that while the ultimate decisions will remain with the governors of each state, the new federal guidelines “are aimed at clearing the way for an easing of restrictions in areas with low transmission of the coronavirus, while keeping them in place in harder-hit places.” However, when Trump spoke with dozens of industry leaders Wednesday, they warned that protective equipment and increased testing will be needed before their businesses can safely resume operations.

This man is a moron to think he is smarter than the health pros.

Herr Trump wants to use his dictatorial powers and force the Senate to do his bidding…..

President Trump on Wednesday threatened to use a constitutional clause that’s never been invoked before in order to forcibly adjourn Congress so he can push through nominees that would otherwise need to be confirmed by the Senate. He says there are 129 nominees for various federal agencies awaiting confirmation, and since senators are away from Washington until May 4 amid the coronavirus pandemic, he needs to do something. “As the entire US government works to combat the global pandemic, it is absolutely essential that key positions at relevant federal agencies are fully staffed,” Trump said during Wednesday’s daily coronavirus briefing. “We have many positions that are unstaffed because we can’t get approval.” More:

  • Recess appointment: As the AP, CNN, and NBC explain, the president has the power to make “recess appointments” to fill certain positions without Senate confirmation while Congress is in recess—but Congress has in recent years refused to fully adjourn in order to prevent Trump and, before him, President Obama, from making such appointments.
  • The current situation: So, while lawmakers have gone back home on a break, Congress is not technically in recess. The unstaffed positions include the director of national intelligence, two members of the Federal Reserve Board of Governors, an assistant secretary of the Treasury Department, and an undersecretary of agriculture, and Trump seemed to be arguing Wednesday that he needs people filling those vacancies in order to help with the government’s coronavirus response.
  • Trump’s take on the recess appointment provision: “The Constitution provides a mechanism for the president to fill positions in such circumstances,” Trump said. “The Senate’s practice of gaveling into so-called pro-forma sessions, where no one is even there, has prevented me from using the constitutional authority we’re given. … The current practice of leaving town while conducting phony pro-forma sessions is a dereliction of duty that the American people cannot afford during this crisis.”
  • What he might do next: He called on Congress to adjourn so he can make the appointments, but said “if the House will not agree to that adjournment, I will exercise my constitutional authority to adjourn both chambers of Congress.”
  • How that would work: The constitutional clause Trump is threatening to invoke allows the president to adjourn Congress if there is a disagreement between the House and the Senate as to whether to adjourn. While Obama did attempt to make recess appointments during a pro-forma session and was thwarted by the Supreme Court, SCOTUS has not ruled on this clause, because no prior administration has ever invoked it.
  • What would need to happen: The House is unlikely to hold a vote to adjourn, so the most likely scenario involves senators coming back to Washington and voting to adjourn, thus creating the necessary disagreement with the House.
  • Trump’s take on the never-before-invoked clause: “I have a very strong power. I’d rather not use that power but we have way over a hundred people that we very badly need in this administration that should have been approved a long time ago. … Perhaps it’s never been done before, nobody’s even sure if it has, but we’re going to do it.”
  • One expert’s take: “To get away with it, he would obviously have to do this with the support of the Senate,” says a senior fellow in governance studies at the nonpartisan Brookings Institution. “If [Senate Majority Leader Mitch] McConnell agrees to this, it would be the most extraordinary abdication of power. And somehow I can’t believe he would do it. Maybe in [Trump’s] own mind he’s thinking ‘This is my way to push Congress out of the way and do anything I want.’ It’s sort of an autocratic move.”
  • Will it come to that? A spokesperson for McConnell later said the Senate majority leader and Trump talked about the issue, and that McConnell “pledged to find ways to confirm nominees considered mission-critical to the Covid-19 pandemic, but under Senate rules that will take consent from [Minority] Leader [Chuck] Schumer.” NBC notes that appeared to be an attempt to “defuse” the situation by acknowledging Democrats would need to agree to adjourn.

My thoughts before…..https://lobotero.com/2020/04/15/when-did-we-get-a-dictator/

If you think the Constitution is important to this country then you should read this…..

President Trump’s current campaign of reprisal against his critics within the federal bureaucracy has become a Soviet-style purge, a vendetta, that resembles the actions of an old-fashioned Mafia boss targeting perceived enemies. Former FBI director James Comey, who started his career in government fighting crime families, warned us in 2018 that an early encounter with the president was reminiscent of these bosses. In his book, “A Higher Loyalty,” Comey described Trump’s requirement of a “silent circle of assent. The boss in complete control. The loyalty oaths. The us-versus-them worldview. The lying about all things, large and small, in service to some code of loyalty that put the organization above morality and above the truth.”

The President and His Mob: the Autopsy of Governance

He, Trump, seems to think that he is all powerful……

President Donald Trump lacks the social graces and the administrative competence of the French monarch Louis XIV. But he does share one sentiment with him. “L’etat c’est moi,” Louis is believed to have proclaimed. “The state, it is I.”

The king presumably saw no separation between himself and France. Trump also doesn’t seem to accept the fact that the federal government has a mission beyond serving his own needs and ego. He mistakes the Justice Department for his team of personal lawyers. He considers the Supreme Court a body to ratify his decisions. The federal stockpile of personal protective equipment is his own stash to share or withhold. And the US treasury? It’s his own personal checkbook.

Why Trump’s Contempt for Oversight May Sink Pandemic Stimulus

Finally Donald the Orange came close to competing with Rush on the radio……

President Trump almost launched a White House talk-radio show last month but backed off in deference to Rush Limbaugh, the New York Times reports. Three unnamed White House officials say Trump walked into the Situation Room with a pitch: Listeners would call in and talk to him directly, without screening, so he could address their concerns about the coronavirus pandemic. But Trump ditched the idea that same day, not wanting to compete with Limbaugh. Someone at the meeting suggested airing on weekends or mornings to avoid Limbaugh’s schedule, but the president shook his head. Instead, he chose to hold long daily media briefings that often sideline the pandemic in favor of attacks on reporters, per Vanity Fair.

Meanwhile, Limbaugh—a close ally and golf buddy of the president—is maligning the virus (calling it the “common cold”) and medical experts (“Hillary Clinton sympathizers”) as he attacks the economic shut-down on The Rush Limbaugh Show. “Are we just going to sit by and watch $22 trillion—that’s the value, that’s the sum total of the GDP, that’s the US economy—are we just going to sit by here and watch it evaporate?” he said March 31 on his hugely popular show, a vanguard for conservatives. “Because that’s what we’re doing, under the guise of not losing any unnecessary life.” Yet the vast majority of Americans appear to support the shutdown. Which leaves Trump where? He says the question of when to reopen the economy is “the biggest decision I’ve ever had to make.”

Every day our Fearless Leader thinks he has unlimited power and is given by God….he does not know that we fought a war to avoid those political downfalls…..maybe he should have stayed awake in school or better yet served in the military so he would know what this country is really about.

This is not the country that our Founders believed in…..and it gets worse by the day…..not to worry Trump has waffled again….he got his minutes in the headlines and now he backs off…..

One final thought…

Birds Of A Feather?

The “Flock” is getting larger.

It is interesting to see all the legal allegations swirling around the GOP and its leaders….(I need to say here that the situations that I post here are just allegations and not a done deal)…..

Of course the most loud news is around the Dear Leader and his knowledge of what Russia has done and if he was part of the attacks….then there is Our Dear Leader’s children and what they knew about any tampering that may have occurred….and the people that were part of the campaign that are in legal jeopardy as I type….

Now let’s go to the Trump administration….the cabinet…..corruption runs deep from Zinke to Ross to Pruitt…all of whom were part of the GOP legislative institution…..that are now under investigation for their misuse of taxpayer funds on purely personal things.

What about the House of Representatives today…..well there is the sexual abuse allegations that Rep. Jim Jordan is said to have been aware of but failed to act……many wrestlers from the Ohio State team have come forward and Jordan was an assistant coach at the time……(more info from a post I wrote)…….

https://lobotero.com/2018/07/10/closing-thought-10jul18/

Then just yesterday another member of the House of Representatives was arrested for insider trading……

Rep. Chris Collins, R-N.Y., has been arrested on insider trading charges lodged by the Justice Department, law enforcement officials said Wednesday morning.

An indictment obtained from a federal grand jury also charges Collins’ son, Cameron Collins, as well as the father of his fiancee, Stephen Zarsky.

The indictment relates to Australian biotech company Innate Immunotherapeutics, on which Collins served as a board member.

In June 2017, Collins passed nonpublic information about Innate’s drug trial results to his son in order to help him “make timely trades in Innate stock and tip others,” the indictment alleges.

https://www.cnbc.com/2018/08/08/gop-congressman-chris-collins-to-be-indicted-on-insider-trading-charge.html

This GOP is a greedy, corrupt lot……my personal opinion.  Most no longer have any integrity that they can mortgage….

Let me say here that these are allegations against some politicos….no one has been convicted……and in this country contrary to what most Righties feel….everyone is innocent until proven otherwise……(that unless you may be Liberal then all allegations are spot on)

Government By Revenge–Part Two

Today begins an end to the Moore thing….Trump is clueless like so many of his supporters…..

At what minute does the Fearless Leader realize what he is doing?

Does he really think he can keep it up….this government by revenge.

Yes…revengeHe spends his waking hours Tweeting his vial, disgusting thoughts about other Americans as well as international leaders…..

I wrote a post recently…..I guess it would be Part One to this post…..

Remember when the Repubs bought into the conspiracy that the president, Obama, and the IRS were out to get conserv groups? Oh yeah that was a meme for a long time and it was spread like so much manure on a field. It was pure conserv bullsh*t.

https://lobotero.com/2017/11/29/revenge-by-government/

Others are starting to speak up as well…….

Looking back at the last tumultuous year, to me, one of the saddest aspects of the Trump candidacy and presidency is that both in part were built from one of the basest of human impulses: revenge.

We’re taught that ideally, the desire to run for office should reflect a commitment to public service. And we know that the reality is far too often otherwise, running to slake a thirst for power and money that overpowers the greater good.

Yet to seek elected office for revenge, to use it to get back at someone or inflict harm on them or anyone associated with them seems in some ways even worse; shabby, petty and immoral.

http://www.truth-out.org/opinion/item/42635-revenge-is-a-rotten-way-to-run-a-country

His latest Tweet is not something new….he spends his valuable time spewing hate and vile…..

That is NO way to run a country….but yet that is exactly what we have going on here in the US…….a country being run by REVENGE.

And what better tool for revenge than Twitter…..and Fearless Fosdick uses it as well as any authoritarian.

Clueless In DC

I try to stay away from hard news on weekends….I try to set those few days side for me and my better half to do whatever she wants….

Sad to say that news got through my filter and sent me into a laughing spree that lasted about 15 minutes….hard core laughing…tears in eyes and hard to catch me breath….side hurting laughter.

It appears that Fearless Leader has his panties in a twist because Li’l Kim called him “old”…….

President Trump was on Twitter Sunday morning from Hanoi, taunting Kim Jong Un. After North Korea on Saturday referred to Trump’s speech last week in South Korea as “reckless remarks by an old lunatic,” Trump responded with his tweet, the AP reports: “Why would Kim Jong-un insult me by calling me ‘old,’ when I would NEVER call him ‘short and fat?’ Oh well, I try so hard to be his friend – and maybe someday that will happen!” Trump partially echoed those comments when asked at a news conference with Vietnam’s president Sunday if he might ever really become friends with Kim. “I think anything’s a possibility,” he said. “Strange things happen in life.” He added that it would be “very, very nice” if a friendship evolved.

This this person joking?  After all he has said in his Twitter account about Li’l Kim and he thinks that one day they could be friends….please tell me this man is joking and not delusional!

Is he so ignorant that he does not think that anything he has said would be taken as an insult…..I am beginning to think that Fearless Leader is suffering from some sort of mental illness.
