Cash 4 Clunkers!

I swear I look for stuff on the GOP, Repubs and conservatives that is positive….I really want to write about something positive coming from the party….but for the life of me I cannot seem to find much that is positive.  It is like the GOP cannot help itself…it just has to be a party of idiots or at least their leadership is idiots.

If you are a reader that has been keeping track of the economy you will remember back a month or so ago when the auto industry was talking about closing some of the dealerships.  At that time the Repubs were all over the decision saying that it would be an attack on America’s small business  and that the Dems were condemning small businesses by signing on to the decision.

Obama and his auto task force gave the order to close these dealerships, the actual revenue generators for the auto companies.  And then the rhetoric turned into accusation.

As was noted by Senators in the hearing and by House members in special orders floor speeches yesterday, the overwhelming majority of the dealership closures are in rural areas and are owned by Republican donors or politicians. A great deal of them are very profitable.

Now we have another twist in the rhetoric…..it seems that Repub. Sen. Jim DeMint of South Carolina has come up with a new approach…I am pretty sure that he will not be the only one spouting the lunacy.

It appears that now ther Cash for clunkers program is an assault on other small businesses, that are not getting the support from Washington.  Also the Repub has used the program to illustrate the ineffectiveness of a government program.

“I just think this is a great example of the stupidity that’s coming out of Washington right now,” DeMint said today on “Fox News Sunday.”

“Our children and grandchildren can’t afford to make these car dealers well right now,” said DeMint, a South Carolina Republican.

But the most absurd quote from Sen DeMint is:

“The federal government went broke in one week in the used car business,” he said, “and now they want to run our health-care system.”

The program he is mentioning is a program that is creating something sadly missing in today’s economy…..DEMAND.  But then he is saying that since the program has been successful that it is the reason why we should not let the government run health care…..is that not the most absurd thing you have ever heard?  Yep, but the Repubs have not let rationality get in the way of there opposition.

2009 Anal-Ocity

Another piece of undeniable (sarcasm) logic from the governor of the great state of Alaska, Sarah Palin:

When she was in the process of announcing her soon to be official resignation, she said and I quote:

“I am not a quitter, I am a fighter”

And then she announces she is quitting.  That makes for a great anal statement.  Thanx, gov.

I Have Heard It All, Now!

Think back to the days gone by of political pandering and lies….I am speaking of the last primary then election cycle.  Recall when the buzzword of the day was patriotism or patriotic?  Remember when one candidates patriotism was questioned when there was no pin visible?  Think back to when liberals in Congress and the country were called un-American.

I know you would like to know where I am going with this…..I am coming to that.  Recently a conservative talk show host has called for a boycott of Chrysler and GM.  Yes you heard it right…a BOYCOTT!  Why would he do this?  Because if we buy from GM or Chrysler we woulkd be supporting socialism……and there it is the conservative argument to Obama’s success.

Several othe talk show host have signed on to this thinking…telling there listeners that it is better if these companies fail and disappear then to support they paranoia over socialism.

These dipsticks had rather see American workers loose everything than support a popular president.  I have even heard them say that the workers will get over it…that they will find other employment …..would that be in the same country as I live where the unemployment is 9.4% and climbing?

Sorry guys but that call is about as unpatriotic as it comes…..anytime someone calls for the destruction of an Americaqn industry…they are unpatriotic.  The biggest problem is that someone is listening….the same people that still think Obama is a Muslim….the same idiots that wantr the country to fail….the same people that hate.

Dear GOP: Stop Playing Games!

Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano is facing calls for her ouster from a handful of House Republicans in the wake of a department memo that warned of right-wing political extremism in the United States.

“To me, it looks like the extremists are those running the DHS,” said Rep. Michelle Bachmann, R-Minn. “An official document of the DHS lists right-wing extremists as ‘groups and individuals that are dedicated to a single issue, such as opposition to abortion or immigration,’ and includes those ‘rejecting federal authority in favor of state or local authority.’ So, apparently, according to Homeland Security Department, the American ideal of federalism is a threat to American ideals.”

First of all, the GOP is just plain stupid for letting this broad anywhere near a microphone.  She has proven to be ignorant and misleading.

And then there is Boner, damn…sorry…Boehner, the minority leader.

House Minority Leader John Boehner said it’s become clear to him that the idea of bipartisanship “was a ruse.”

“I think if you look at the first 100 days, you can sum it up pretty simply: spending, taxing, borrowing and ducking the hard choices,” Boehner said at a news conference Thursday.

Democratic policies, he said, are “going to hurt our economy and hurt jobs in America.”

Boehner keeps throwing the original talking points from day one of the Obama Admin….spending, taxing and borrowing.  Hard choices?  If Obama has not taken on the hard choices what would the GOP call the issues that have been addressed?

The Ohio Republican said Americans are “fed up with this unprecedented level of spending and borrowing that’ll imprison the future for our kids and their kids,” and he said the Republican Party has offered up better solutions in recent months.

Funny that is not what the polls are saying.

Obama’s job approval as president stands at 63% in a poll released this morning by the Washington-based Pew Research Center — with just 26% of those surveyed saying they disapprove of the way that Obama is handling his job.

The president draws a similar rating in a new poll conducted by the Associated Press and GfK Roper Public Affairs and Media: 64% job approval. The AP-GfK survey also finds, for the first time in five years, more Americans saying the nation is headed in the right direction than those who say it is not.

Those are just a few of the games the GOP is playing.  They still seem oblivious to the fact that they are not doing the country any good.  Theyt get their daily talking points and without much thought go out and echo whatever it is that is the NO-NO of the day.

It is all a game to the GOP, the problem is that they have NO idea how to play anymore.  I guess this is the BEST that the GOP can come up with….sad turn of events for a once proud party.

What Is That Sucking Sound?

Dunno?  It is coming out of Washington.  Want some help?  It is the GOP!

The Republicans in Congress are irrelevant — either because, in the smallest number, they go along with the Democrats, or because they just say no and lose. Either way, they’re part of the problem and not a place to find an answer. Lately, most of the Republican talking heads I see are so busy trying to figure out whether Rush Limbaugh is or is not their leader that they lose any claim to being leaders themselves.

Not one of the Repubs have anything to offer as an alternative to the Dem agenda.  All I have seen and heard are from memos sent out with their daily talking points and they all stick to them like good little puppies.  My fav is their new talking point that the recession be renamed the “Pelosi Recession”.

The conservative Dems are doing a better job at opposing the prez than the GOP.  But beyond that, where were the concerns with spending when GW was throwing money away like a drunken sailor in Sinapore?  They are just , as usual, playing politics.  They have NOTHING to offer the people as an alternative to the economic situation the country is facing.  The best they can do is to just say NO to everything Democratic.

If Washington is a circus, then GOP the Clown is the main attraction, for now.
