What Is It That Pelosi Did?

I mean besides being a Democrat……..

Mention the name Nancy Pelosi and you will send a conserv into a rage that could be just short of a stroke….she is a socialist….she is a dictator…..she is a liberal….she is too partisan….well hell….you have heard all the diatribes linked to her name……but think about it what did she do?

Besides being a rallying point for the GOP and Tea Party….what did she and her House do while in the majority?  Let me see…..Recovery Act, Obamacare, Wall Street reform, an equal pay act,……..let me see she (Pelosi) and her friends (Dems) passed many bills that became law….but she was demonized for political effect……

I am NOT saying that I agreed with everything the she and the House did….far from it….I believe that they dropped the ball on numerous occasions…….that aside…the House did accomplish lots under her leadership…….

Now fast forward you time machine and let us look at the present Congress…..under the leadership of Boehner what has the House accomplished so far?  Have they created any jobs?  Have they actually tried?  Instead of looking at what can get our country back on track, they (GOP) has concentrated their efforts on NPR, Planned Parenthood, and instead of trying to find a budget compromise they have instead felt that the destruction of social programs is more important….when will the new leadership and the new House start working on bills that mean something?

Granted this Congress has about a year and half before they are a failure….but they are off to a good start…..in the mean time, where are the jobs we were promised by almost every Repub that ran for office in 2010?  Will they actually get to that?  Doubtful!  After the shutdown crap moves on….we will be at the crossroads of another budget debate…this time for 2012.  Will we ever get to the jobs thing?

The House and its GOP members seem to be working on talking about everything but what needs the attention….JOBS!  It seems to me that anytime major issues need to be addressed we resort (by we I mean the Congress) back to emotional issues so we do not have to deal with real problems……let us be real for a moment….the budget?  Everybody is fixated on the planned parenthood thing….and that makes it more an abortion debate than a budget debate…..it is a diversion of thought…once again NO one seems to be serious about this thing…..lots of on camera bluster and cowardly votes after the cameras are turned off….

At least with Pelosi and her gang….we had major problems addressed and yes as always someone tried to turn them into a game and NOT a discussion……Once again…I am not saying that I think they (Dems) did a good job with the laws they passed only that they were at least semi-serious about major issues…..

2010 Anal-Ocity #4

It has really slow with the public servants and their anal statements……but I suspect that it will pick up the closer we get to the “Great 2010 Election” cycle……

Politicians just cannot stay away from making statements that make them look like idiots…this one is from Speaker of the House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi……recently when talking about health reform on a Sunday talk show she said:

“we are not here just to self perpetuate our service in Congress.”

Of course that is what they would have us to believe….but we ALL know that it is just bullsh*t………great sentiment….but that is ALL that it is sentiment and miles from reality.  Why do you think these “people” only work 3 days a week?  The rest of the week is for fundraising and schmoozing with the filthy rich and powerful…..Job retention is their main concern….I just wish these a/holes would stop sounding so noble….maybe then all the public naivete would be killed once and for all….

It Is A “Pelosi Recession”?

Did I fall asleep and wake up in some Alternate reality?  Where after a recession of a Repub president somehow became the fault of a liberal?  I am still wondering how I got here from there.

It is the sole fault of one Nancy Pelosi, the speaker of the US House of Representatives, at least according to the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC).

Monday morning, the NRCC sent out a fundraising e-mail to supporters from Michigan Rep. Dave Camp. The subject line of the e-mail reads, “End the Pelosi Recession,” and much of the message is an attack on the speaker.

“Pelosi and her cronies know how they are going to continue to bail out big businesses, pay for their pet projects and spend billions of government dollars this year: massive tax hikes,” Camp writes. “To put it simply, the Democrats’ Budget spends too much, taxes too much and borrows too much. We must work together to end the ‘Pelosi Recession,’ and start to rebuild our economy with sound and fair principles.”

She has managed to single handedly bring down the economy while a sitting Republican president was at the helm of the economy for 24 of her 27 months as speaker.  Damn the power!

And if you listen to the Repubs in Congress they are quoting the memo word for word, “the budget spends too much, taxes too much, and borrows too much”…..good dog.,….you will be rewarded later.  Are these some of the same Repubs that voted for the largest ever tax increase in the House…like the “mouth Cantor?

Sorry, I digress.  Just how revelent can this party be when the best they can do is try to blame a liberal for a recession that started with a president of their own party?  These guys and gals become more silly with each passing day.

House To Rethink Drilling

Dropping her opposition to a vote on coastal oil exploration, Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Saturday that the House would consider expanded offshore drilling as part of broad energy legislation when Congress returns next month.

In the weekly Democratic radio address, Ms. Pelosi criticized Republicans as focusing too narrowly on offshore drilling as a solution to high gasoline prices, but said she would bow to demands that the House revisit a drilling ban that has been imposed annually since the 1980s.

She said legislation being assembled by Democrats “will consider opening portions of the Outer Continental Shelf for drilling, with appropriate safeguards, and without taxpayer subsidies to big oil.”

The decision came after growing anxiety among Democrats that Republicans were scoring politically with their call for a vote on offshore drilling. Though Congress is on its August break, a rotating group of House Republicans has rallied daily on the House floor, demanding that Ms. Pelosi call lawmakers back for a vote to allow oil companies to pursue offshore resources.

While Ms. Pelosi is relenting despite her longtime opposition to drilling off the coast of California, her home state, Republicans may not get the vote they wanted. Expanded coastal drilling would be just one element of a broader bill that would also contain provisions opposed by Republicans, including a requirement that utilities produce a certain amount of electricity through renewable fuels. Democrats could also impose rules denying Republicans a chance to offer changes to the measure.

JUst a way to protect themselves in the upcoming election.  It is NOT about what is the best course of action, just who will be re-elected.

A Vote Or Not

Reversing course, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is planning energy legislation that may allow oil and gas drilling in new areas off the U. S. coast, according to a House Democratic leadership aide.

Pelosi, D-Calif., is open to considering energy exploration on the outer continental shelf as part of a broader package of measures to address rising energy costs, the aide said, speaking on condition of anonymity. Details haven’t been worked out, the aide said.

Pelosi rejected holding a vote on drilling before the House adjourned for its five-week recess on Aug. 1. In a CNN “Larry King Live” interview Monday night, she said “we can have a vote” on offshore drilling, “but it has to be part of something that says we want to bring immediate relief to the public and not just a hoax on them.”

Among other provisions, Pelosi said she would like a requirement that electricity be produced from renewable sources such as wind and solar energy and the release of some oil from the nation’s Strategic Petroleum Reserve as an immediate brake on prices.

Democrats have been under increasing pressure to allow offshore drilling as gasoline prices have risen over $4 a gallon.

Americans are famous for a lack of concern on some issues.  Now that the price of gas is sliding downward, will the vote be necessary?  Or wanted at all?

No Vote On OffShore Oil

For weeks, pressure has been mounting in Congress to approve more domestic oil drilling, but House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has held the line, using her power to block a vote on offshore drilling.

President Bush has made almost daily calls for Democratic leaders to take action. House GOP leaders, citing a new poll showing that a slim majority of Californians now favor offshore drilling, issued a release today saying “even (Pelosi’s) own California neighbors oppose her efforts to block new drilling far off American coasts.” GOP lawmakers are so disgruntled they’re urging Bush to deny Congress its August break by calling a special session on energy.

Even some Democrats are getting antsy, fearing the party’s stance could hurt in the fall elections. But Pelosi, who has opposed offshore drilling throughout her two decades in Congress, insists opening new areas to drilling won’t lower gas prices in the short-term. She believes a vote would only help the GOP blame Democrats for high gas prices.

While I agree with Pelosi on this matter, because there are already 68 million acres of leases already.  Let the companies start there and then see if it will make a difference in the price of gas.  I doubt very seriously if it will and the whole clap trap about it is just that a shovel full of manure.

Pelosi In Israel

US House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Sunday that no option should be ruled out in order to stop Iran’s march toward nuclear weapons.

“Iran must be stopped. They are a threat to the neighborhood and a source of funding for Hamas and Hizbullah,”

While hoping there would be no need for a military strike, the House speaker stressed, “I do think we must not take anything off the table.”

Is this the same group that was anti-war to get elected?  they sound more like McBush than the Dems that went into Washington in 2007.  This just sounds like business as usual again.  Remind me why the Dems are in Washington.
