In Search Of The Big “O”

My weekend and a much deserved mental break……once again it is all about the sex…..that driving force of nature that makes us all perk up a bit……..

For years women have been in search of the elusive orgasm………and now there is a way….but what extremes would anyone go to for that moment of “YAHOO”?

Newser) – Good news for those of you dreading childbirth: It doesn’t have to be all pain and agony. There have long been stories of so-called “orgasmic births,” and now a new study by a psychologist looks at the actual numbers. The study author surveyed French midwives, some of whom in turn questioned mothers they had helped; 109 of them completed his questionnaire. The results: In 668 cases, mothers reported orgasmic sensations during birth to their midwives; in 868 cases, midwives saw signs of pleasure from birthing mothers. Nine mothers also reported having an orgasm during birth. All in all, the midwives reported witnessing orgasms in 0.3% of births, LiveScience reports.

These results have “established the fact that obstetrical pleasure exists,” the study author says, though some are still skeptical. But one professor of psychology explains that it makes sense from an anatomical perspective: “It’s stimulation of the birth canal, stimulation of the cervix, the vagina and the clitoris and uterine contractions,” he says, adding that he’s done studies finding that orgasms can reduce pain sensitivity. A childbirth educator who made a 2009 documentary on orgasmic births says they’re probably even more common than this survey finds, and wants the stigma to go away: “People see ‘birth’ and ‘orgasmic’ together on paper, and it pushes all their buttons on sexuality,” she explains.

Was it worth it?

Global Orgasm Day

Today is the day to celebrate!

This year we’re synchronizing in the two-hour period around
the Solstice, which falls on Sunday December 21 at 12.04 p.m.
(four minutes after noon) Greenwich Mean Time. So in the U.K., Global-O time will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The world is celebrating the election of the new USA President, Barack Obama, and the hope for change that he has stirred in our hearts. We are riding the wave of joy and renewal, which gives us a flying start for this year’s Global O! It’s the Global OOObama Factor!

So let’s not waste this energy. Let’s send a wave of positive intention into the quantum field of the Earth. We will spike the charts at the Global Consciousness Project and lay a foundation for the ‘Mindful Alpha Male’ President to build on,
to begin healing the damage done to the planet and all its species.

Come on people, make a difference, smile and have a good one.

One Good Orgasm Deserves Another

Time to get busy, people! According to a new report, the Big O is more than just pleasurable—it’s also good for your health.

Orgasms (and just good ol’ fashioned arousal) can release DHEA and Oxytocin, hormones that are beneficial to the heart and lower breast cancer risks, according to the Los Angeles Times. What’s more, the benefits apply to both men and women, helping to prevent prostate cancer while serving as pain relief from migraines.

The article cites these major findings: Prostate: Two large studies, reported in 2003 and 2004, found that middle-aged men who had (or at least remember having) at least four orgasms a week throughout their 20s, 30s and 40s had a reduced risk of prostate cancer by as much as one-third. Some researchers speculate that ejaculations may clear the prostate of carcinogens.

Physical comfort: In laboratory studies, women are able to tolerate more pain when a vibrator is applied to their vaginas. When that stimulation leads to orgasm, their pain threshold doubles. And one small study found that orgasms provided some relief for women suffering from migraines.

General health: A 10-year study of Welsh men in 1997 found that those who had two or more orgasms per week had half the risk of dying compared with their less sexually active neighbors.

With evidence like that, there’s no reason you should be faking it anymore.

Who Da Best At Orgasm?

I can’t get no satisfaction, complained rock legend Mick Jagger back in the Swinging Sixties, in a hit song he co-wrote with Rolling Stones band member Keith Richards. Maybe the pair should have moved to Africa.

According to the Durex Global Sex Survey, South Africans and Nigerians are among the most satisfied people in the world when it comes to sex, or having the most orgasms.

“Two thirds of South Africans claim to orgasm regularly, compared to 48 percent of people globally,” the condom manufacturer said on Tuesday in a statement issued to mark the survey’s release

Among other things, it found Nigeria to be the most sexually satisfied nation (at 67 percent), followed by Mexico (63 percent), India (61 percent) and Poland (54 percent).

The least sexually satisfied people in the world, according to the survey, are the Japanese, with a mere 15 percent of respondents from that country giving their love lives a thumbs up.

“It is the sexed up Greeks who have the most sex, at 164 times a year, with Brazil next (145) , followed by Poland and Russia (both 143).

The Japanese are the least sexually active nation, having sex just 48 times a year,” Durex said.

South Africans also spend more time actually having sex, with sessions lasting an average 20 minutes, compared to the 18 minute world average, the survey found.

“The Nigerians take the longest time over sex, at 24 minutes per session, while Indians have the quickest sex, at 13 minutes.”

However, while South Africans may be having the most orgasms, the survey warns they are failing to set the bedroom alight.

Put The Limber In Your Winkie

Sex triggered a life-threatening stroke in a healthy 35-year-old Illinois woman, her doctors report.

Sex- and orgasm-triggered strokes in relatively young women and men are rare, but not unheard of. They require a combination of factors and events not unusual in themselves, but which are highly unlikely to occur at the same time.

The 35-year-old woman’s symptoms were typical of this unusual kind of “cryptogenic” stroke, says Jose Biller, MD, professor and chair of the neurology department at Loyola University, Chicago.

“This young woman … while having intercourse had numbness on the left side of her face, slurred speech, and weakness in her left arm,” Biller tells WebMD. “When she was transferred to our care six hours after onset, she was completely unable to move her left arm, her face was paralyzed, her speech was garbled, and she was in a state of panic.”

Why did sex trigger this young woman’s stroke? She shared one thing in common with six other young people who suffered sex-related strokes: a small opening in the wall between the two upper chambers of her heart.

One in four adults has this minor heart defect, called a patent foramen ovale or PFO. A PFO allows some blood to flow from the right side of the heart to the left side. This blood bypasses the lung and goes straight to the brain.

Blood flow through a PFO increases when a person strains, such as bearing down during a bowel movement or breathing out with the mouth closed and nostrils pinched shut.

Just something to think about on this Sunday.
