Is This A “Peace Prize” Resume?

For months if not years Donny has been whining and crying in his soup because he got passed over for the Nobel Peace Prize not once but twice.

His selfish whining aside….let’s look at Donny’s ‘peace’ initiatives….this since January of last year….

Somalia

The Trump administration has conducted an unprecedented escalation of the US air war in Somalia this year, launching at least 127 airstrikes, more than double the previous annual record of US bombings in the country, which Trump set at 63 during his first term in office.

According to New America, an organization that tracks the air war, the airstrikes launched in 2025 are more than were conducted in Somalia during the administrations of Joe Biden, Barack Obama, and George W. Bush combined.

US airstrikes in Somalia have targeted al-Shabaab in the south and a small ISIS affiliate based in caves in the northeastern Puntland region. There have been some reports of civilians being killed in US airstrikes and military operations conducted by US-backed forces in recent months.

Overall, it’s difficult to ascertain the situation on the ground in Somalia, as there’s virtually no US media coverage of the air war despite the unprecedented escalation. The US-backed government, which is based in Mogadishu, is also known for arresting and restricting journalists who report critically on Somalia’s security forces, and al-Shabaab maintains restrictions on internet use in the areas under its control.

Nigeria

President Trump launched the first known US missile strikes in Nigeria on Christmas Day, which were conducted by a US warship in the Gulf of Guinea.

The Nigerian government said the target was “two major Islamic State (ISIS) terrorist enclaves” in the forests of the Tangaza district in Nigeria’s northwest Sokoto State, an area that’s not known as a major hub for ISIS-affiliated militants, raising questions about why it was the US’s first target.

US missiles also fell on two villages that were not the intended target, according to the Nigerian government, destroying several homes and scaring residents. Nearly a week after the US strikes, it’s unclear if there were any casualties among ISIS-affiliated militants. Analysts suspect the target was the Lakurawa, an armed group that’s believed to be linked to ISIS.

Yemen

The Trump administration launched a heavy bombing campaign in Yemen starting on March 15 in response to the Houthis, officially known as Ansar Allah, announcing they were re-imposing their blockade on Israeli shipping due to Israeli violations of the short-lived Gaza ceasefire deal signed back in January.

The US campaign, dubbed “Operation Rough Rider,” was especially brutal and killed more than 250 civilians, according to Air Wars. Strikes included the April 17 bombing of the Ras Issa Fuel Port, which killed 84 people, all civilians. A few days later, the US bombed a migrant detention facility in Sadaa, Yemen, killing 68 African migrants.

Operation Rough Rider ended with a ceasefire between the US and the Houthis on May 6. The US failed to stop Houthi attacks on Israel and Israeli-linked shipping, which only ended after the latest Gaza ceasefire deal was signed in October.

Iraq and Syria

The US has launched airstrikes in Iraq and Syria this year under the US-led anti-ISIS coalition and has several thousand troops in both countries. On December 19, the US launched significant strikes in Syria that it said targeted ISIS in response to a December 13 attack in central Syria that killed two US National Guard members and an American civilian interpreter.

However, the attack that killed the three Americans was launched by a member of the Syrian government’s security forces and was not claimed by ISIS. The Trump administration has made an ally out of the new Syrian government despite the fact that it’s led by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, an offshoot of al-Qaeda, and has absorbed foreign jihadists into its military, putting US troops at risk of more insider attacks.

US troops are now regularly conducting raids with both Syrian government fighters and members of the Kurdish-led SDF against suspected ISIS members. CENTCOM said on December 30 that its forces and partners “killed or captured nearly 25 ISIS operatives” in Syria since the December 19 airstrikes.

Iran

President Trump became the first US president to bomb Iran in June when US B-2 bombers armed with 30,000-pound bunker-busting bombs and submarines firing Tomahawk missiles targeted Iranian nuclear facilities. The US also supported heavy Israeli airstrikes across Iran, which killed more than 1,000 people over 12 days of war.

The US refueled Israeli jets that were bombing Iran and spent billions of dollars intercepting missiles that were being fired at Israel. Many Iranian missiles made it through US and Israeli air defenses, which is ultimately what led to Israel agreeing to a ceasefire after 12 days.

Another US-Israeli war on Iran seems likely in 2026 as Israel is seeking US support for more attacks, with Iran’s conventional missiles being the pretext. President Trump said on Monday that he would support an Israeli attack if Iran “continues” its missile program or if it rebuilds its damaged nuclear facilities.

The Caribbean and Eastern Pacific

The Trump administration began conducting a bombing campaign targeting boats in the Caribbean Sea near Venezuela that it claimed were carrying drugs on September 2. The attacks started as part of the pressure campaign against Venezuela aimed at ousting President Nicolas Maduro, and later expanded to the Eastern Pacific Ocean, where the majority have now been launched.

According to numbers released by the Trump administration, a total of 30 strikes have been launched, and 107 people have been killed in what are extra-judicial executions that clearly violate US and international law. Throughout the bombing campaign, the Pentagon has provided no evidence to back up its claims about what the boats were carrying, and it has admitted to not knowing the identities of all the people it has killed.

Venezuela

President Trump has claimed that the US launched an attack inside Venezuela on December 24 that blew up a “major facility” where boats were loaded with drugs. After his comments, US media reported, citing anonymous officials, that the CIA conducted a drone strike targeting a dock facility the US believed was being used by the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua.

US officials speaking to the media outlets said there was no one present at the facility at the time, and there were no casualties. At this point, the attack still hasn’t been confirmed by the Venezuelan government or sources in Venezuela, but if true, the strike marks a major escalation in the US aggression against the country, which has also involved a naval blockade and the seizure of two tankers carrying Venezuelan oil.

Sorry but no matter the fake ‘peace’ deals he claims he brokered none of this is a strong case for Donny to get a prize.

I am sure Donny is not finished with his empire building exercises.

Nobel Drops Today

After threatening and begging the Nobel Committee by Little Donny, will make it’s choice known today…..will Donny get his wish or will the Nobel people do the right thing and pick someone with integrity and a moral compass?

Donny’s Gaza peace plan was a made for TV special with the hopes of influencing the Committee in his favor….did it work?

The winner of the Nobel Peace Prize will be announced on Friday, and the big question is whether it will go to President Trump. The president and the White House have made no secret of his desire to win it, with repeated references to his role in ending conflicts around the world. The new Israel-Hamas peace deal, however, likely won’t be a factor because of the timing. Coverage:

  • Mideast: “Nobel Prize to Trump!” supporters cheered in Tel Aviv after the peace deal was announced, reports the New York Post. Israeli farmers even spelled out “Nobel 4 Trump” in a field, notes Mediaite. In Gaza, Palestinians also chanted Trump’s name in praise.
  • Too late: The Norwegian prize committee held its final meeting on Monday, meaning the decision was made before the Israeli-Hamas deal was announced, reports the Times of Israel. Typically, the panel makes its decision several days or weeks in advance, then meets a final time before the announcement.
  • Unlikely: In an essay for Time, the director of the Peace Research Institute Oslo (not affiliated with the Nobel) writes that Trump is a long shot this year. Nina Graeger cites Trump’s decision to pull the US out of multiple international pacts and to cut foreign aid, seeing it as at odds with the Nobel ideal of global cooperation. Although Trump “has made notable efforts in several areas, the overall record at this stage does not fully align with the standards outlined by Alfred Nobel,” she writes. “Should his initiatives—such as efforts to end the war in Gaza—achieve lasting success, the situation could look quite different this time next year.”
  • Worthy: One of those who nominated Trump is American-Israeli academic Anat Alon-Beck, who lays out his case in a Fox News essay. “His ability to broker peace, hold adversaries accountable, and foster alliances has positioned him as one of the most consequential leaders of our time,” the essay reads. “His leadership is so consequential that even Iran, long the chief sponsor of terror and resistance to peace, was forced to recalibrate its rhetoric and behavior in the face of the new regional reality his policies created.”
  • Bettors: On the online betting site Polymarket, Trump had a 5.7% chance of winning on Thursday. In first place are “Sudan’s Emergency Response Rooms,” which have been helping the injured in the war-torn country, at 35%. Also ahead of Trump are Yulia Navalnaya, the widow of Russian opposition activist Alexei Navalny, at 10%; and Doctors Without Borders at 6%.

Who will be their choice?

Give it to a dog catcher as long as Donny does not get his grubbing hands on the prize.

Stop The Presses!

Well Donny is still a loser.

The winner of the Nobel Peace Prize for 2025 is Maria Corina Machado, a woman who has been described as Venezuela’s “symbol of resistance” to Nicolas Maduro’s regime. The Nobel Committee said Friday morning that it had decided to award the prize to the opposition leader for her “tireless work promoting democratic rights for the people of Venezuela and for her struggle to achieve a just and peaceful transition from dictatorship to democracy.” Jørgen Watne Frydnes, the Norwegian committee’s chair, described her as a “brave and committed champion of peace” who “keeps the flame of democracy burning during a growing darkness,” the Guardian reports.

Asked about President Trump’s push to be awarded the prize, Frydnes said the committee receives thousands of letters a year and it has seen “media tension” in the past, the BBC reports. “We base our decision only on the work and the will of Alfred Nobel,” he said. Trump has long said he deserves a peace prize and he stepped up his campaign in recent months, though the committee held its final meeting on Monday, days before the breakthrough in Gaza peace talks.

Before the announcement, newspaper columnist Harald Stanghelle said that if he didn’t get the prize, Trump might retaliate against Norway by imposing higher tariffs or even by declaring the country an enemy, the Guardian reports. Trump “is so unpredictable. I don’t want to use the word ‘fear’ but there is a feeling that it could be a challenging situation,” he said. “It’s very, very difficult to explain to Donald Trump or to many other countries in the world that it is a totally independent committee because they do not respect this kind of independence.”

Personally I think Doctors Without Borders should have won the prize…..for they do amazing work.

What Are The Odds?

Let’s have a little fun on this Friday….

I thought I would close today with a small question on a larger issue…

Since taken office Donny has made it clear that he wants the Nobel Peace Prize…..one of his MAGA stoolies in Congress has nominated then that brutal warmongering prick BiBi has also jumped on the band wagon….next was Pakistan nominating because of Donny’s help with the India situation and now anew slug has also joined in the nominating process….Cambodia.

Cambodia has joined Pakistan and Israel in nominating Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize, crediting the US president with “visionary and innovative diplomacy” that ended border clashes with Thailand.

A letter from Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet on Thursday addressed to the Norwegian Nobel Committee said he wished to nominate Trump “in recognition of his historic contributions in advancing world peace”.

“President Trump’s extraordinary statesmanship – marked by his commitment to resolving conflicts and preventing catastrophic wars through visionary and innovative diplomacy – was most recently demonstrated by his decisive role in brokering an immediate and unconditional ceasefire between Cambodia and Thailand,” Hun Manet’s letter said.

Contributions for world peace?

Seriously?

Blind obedience to Israel and its brutal destruction of Palestine, unprovoked attack on Iran and threats to go to war over an island….none of that sounds peaceful to me….but that aside….just for fun what are the odds that he will win the coveted Peace Prize?

The nomination has sparked renewed attention on Trump’s chances of winning the prestigious award. According to betting aggregator Oddschecker, Trump’s current odds of securing the prize range from 17/2 (10.5%) to 6/1 (14.3%), placing him as the second favorite among bookmakers. Leading odds makers including Ladbrokes and Coral list him at 6/1, while William Hill offers 11/2 (15.4%) and Sky Bet and Paddy Power give 17/2. Russian political figure Yulia Navalnaya, widow of late opposition leader Alexei Navalny, remains the frontrunner for the prize following her husband’s death in prison last year. Trump’s candidacy reflects the high-profile yet polarizing nature of his international diplomacy. While his influence is undeniable, experts note that the Nobel Committee often weighs broader geopolitical implications and controversies surrounding nominees. Other contenders for the award include United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres and Philippe Lazzarini, commissioner-general of the U.N. Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees.

A Joke: Knock Knock

Who’s there?

Donny with a peace prize.

Just recently Pakistan has nominated Donny for the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize….why is that?

he government of Pakistan on Friday recommended President Donald Trump for a 2026 Nobel Peace Prize for his role in de-escalating a brief conflict between India and Pakistan earlier this year.

Earlier this year, the Trump administration intervened to stop a conflict between Islamabad in New Delhi in its early stages after a terrorist attack in the Kashmir region led India to attack its Islamic neighbor.

“The Government of Pakistan has decided to formally recommend President Donald J. Trump for the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize, in recognition of his decisive diplomatic intervention and pivotal leadership during the recent India-Pakistan crisis,” the government stated.

“At a moment of heightened regional turbulence, President Trump demonstrated great strategic foresight and stellar statesmanship through robust diplomatic engagement with both Islamabad and New Delhi which de-escalated a rapidly deteriorating situation, ultimately securing a ceasefire and averting a broader conflict between the two nuclear states that would have had catastrophic consequences for millions of people in the region and beyond,” it went on. “This intervention stands as a testament to his role as a genuine peacemaker and his commitment to conflict resolution through dialogue.”

(justthenews.com)

“A genuine peacemaker”?  Seriously?

India did not see Donny’s role in the ceasefire….

Government officials from India have disputed Trump’s characterization of his role in the ceasefire between India and Pakistan. According to a readout from Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s office, “Prime Minister Modi clearly conveyed to President Trump that at no point during this entire sequence of events was there any discussion, at any level, on an India-U.S. Trade Deal, or any proposal for a mediation by the U.S. between India and Pakistan. The discussion to cease military action took place directly between India and Pakistan through the existing channels of communication between the two armed forces, and it was initiated at Pakistan’s request.”

(mediaite.com)

Then of course Donny could not accept the nomination without trying to toot his own horn….and failed….

“I won’t get a Nobel Peace Prize for stopping the War between India and Pakistan, I won’t get a Nobel Peace Prize for stopping the War between Serbia and Kosovo, I won’t get a Nobel Peace Prize for keeping Peace between Egypt and Ethiopia (A massive Ethiopian built dam, stupidly financed by the United States of America, substantially reduces the water flowing into The Nile River),” Trump wrote on Friday. “And I won’t get a Nobel Peace Prize for doing the Abraham Accords in the Middle East which, if all goes well, will be loaded to the brim with additional Countries signing on, and will unify the Middle East for the first time in ‘The Ages!’”

Trump’s post came after he earlier in the day pressed that he should have received the Nobel Peace Prize “four or five times” in comments to waiting reporters on the tarmac. He had just landed in Morristown, New Jersey.  (No doubt on his way to some golf course)

“If you look, the Congo, or you could say Serbia, Kosovo, you could say a lot of them,” Trump said about his prize-worthy accomplishments

Seriously?

After the weekend of placing the US in a deadly crosshair and you think this idiot needs a prize….especially one called ‘peace prize’?

This is a joke and an ass kissing by Pakistan.

If he wins the prize then it will be as worthless as Donny and his supporters.

Your Nobel Peace Prize Winners

Speaking of peace….how about those Peace Prize winners?

All the announcements have been made for the different Nobel prizes and the final nod goes for the winners of the Nobel Peace Prize……three men got the nod for their work for peace…..Belarus, Ukraine and Russia…….

This year’s Nobel Peace Prize has been awarded to jailed Belarus rights activist Ales Bialiatski, the Russian group Memorial, and the Ukrainian organization Center for Civil Liberties. The winners were announced Friday in Oslo by Berit Reiss-Andersen, chair of the Norwegian Nobel Committee, the AP reports. Memorial, one of Russia’s oldest and most prominent human rights groups, was shut down by an order issued by Russia’s Supreme Court last December, less than two months before the invasion of Ukraine. Bialiatski, 60, helped spark the democracy movement in Belarus in the 1980s, CNBC reports. He was jailed last year on tax evasion charges widely thought to be politically motivated.

Reiss-Andersen said the judges wanted to honor ”three outstanding champions of human rights, democracy, and peaceful coexistence in the neighbor countries Belarus, Russia, and Ukraine.” “Through their consistent efforts in favor of human values and anti-militarism and principles of law, this year’s laureates have revitalized and honored Alfred Nobel’s vision of peace and fraternity between nations, a vision most needed in the world today,” she told reporters in Oslo.

The Ukrainian winner is the best known to us that detest war……

In what was described as a harsh rebuke of Russia, the 2022 Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to the Ukrainian human rights organization Center for Civil Liberties, along with Belarusian human rights advocate Ales Bialiatski and the Russian human rights organization Memorial. While at first glance, the Ukrainian Center for Civil Liberties might sound like a group that is well deserving of this honor, Ukrainian peace leader Yurii Sheliazhenko wrote a stinging critique.

Sheliazhenko, who heads up the Ukrainian Pacifist Movement and is a board member of the European Bureau for Conscientious Objection, accused the Center for Civil Liberties of embracing the agendas of such problematic international donors as the U.S. Department of State and the National Endowment for Democracy. The National Endowment for Democracy supports NATO membership for Ukraine; insists that no negotiations with Russia are possible and shames those who seek compromise; wants the West to impose a dangerous no-fly zone; says that only Putin violates human rights in Ukraine; never criticizes the Ukrainian government for suppressing pro-Russian media, parties, and public figures; never criticizes the Ukrainian army for war crimes and human rights violations, and refuses to stand up for the human right, recognized under international law, to conscientious objection to military service.

Supporting conscientious objectors is the role of Sheliazhenko and his organization, the Ukrainian Pacifist Movement (UPM). While we hear a lot about Russian war resisters, as Sheliazhenko points out even inside Ukraine, which is portrayed in Western media as a country entirely united in its war with Russia, there are men who don’t want to fight.

Who Deserves a Nobel Peace Prize in Ukraine?

It is a shame the the American government spends little money on aid to these types of activism and yet can throw billions at the warmongers that want to extend war for personal gain.

The only purpose of war is to make dead bodies out for live bodies.

What a damn shame that war is more popular than peace.  That is a lie….it is not a shame it is disgusting!

Closing Thought–19Jul18

Hey let’s talk about the Nobel Peace Prize.  There is a steady beat of those that think Our Dear Leader should get the Peace Prize because of the NK meeting and then the Russian meeting……

No I am not going to go off on some rant about why Trump does not deserve the prize…though I can see why you might think that…..nope this post is about the co-founder of a youth charity who was nominated for the prize in 2015……..

The 22-year-old co-founder of a charity that advocates for victims of sexual violence was arrested on Tuesday in New York for possession of child pornography and for working to arrange sexual encounters with children as young as two years old. Joel Davis — who helped found Youth to End Sexual Violence, and chaired the UN’s International Campaign to Stop Rape and Gender Violence in Conflict — has been charged with several counts, including attempted sexual exploitation of a minor and enticement of a minor to engage in sexual activity, after exchanging messages with undercover federal agents earlier this month.

During those text message exchanges, Davis had told undercover law enforcement officers that he was sexually interested in children of all ages, including infants, and had sent the officers explicit photographs of infants and toddlers. Some of the photos showed the minors engaged in sexual activity with adults.

Davis, who had previously been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize in 2015 and had served as the U.S.’ Youth Ambassador on Sexual Violence in Conflict, also told the officers of his intention to engage in sexual activities with an undercover officer’s nine-year-old daughter and the two-year-old daughter of the officer’s girlfriend. He is alleged to have gone into great detail about the sexual activities he wished to perform with the children.

What is it about sports doctors and sexual abuse?  This type of thing is becoming all too common in our society…..I mean look at the GOP representative that is involved in a sexual abuse case

What can I say…..if he is a perv then he needs to be fried….you may interpret that any way you like…..any money made off the nomination should be returned and then a hefty fine for being a perv……

OMG! It Is Official!

Holy crap!  I got a good chuckle when I heard that a bunch of spineless Congressmen signed a petition to nominate Trump for the Nobel…..but it is not so humorous for it is official he will be nominated……

Republican lawmakers have nominated President Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize. Eighteen House members penned a letter Wednesday to the Nobel Prize Committee praising the president’s efforts to broker peace in the Korean Peninsula, reports the Hill. “President Trump has worked tirelessly to apply maximum pressure on North Korea to end its illicit weapons program and bring peace to the region,” the letter says. The lawmakers credit the president for the recent historic meeting between North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and South Korean President Moon Jae-in, in which the leaders agreed to rid the Peninsula of nuclear weapons and bring a formal end to the countries’ 68-year-old war. Although the countries entered into an armistice in 1953, they never signed an official peace treaty.

If the two countries can resolve their differences, Trump deserves the prize, Sen. Bob Corker told CNBC Wednesday, but the senator issued a caution. The Foreign Relations Committee chair said that North Korea has made several overtures in the last two decades, only to reverse course. In a separate interview with CNBC, retired Gen. Michael Hayden credited progress with North Korea to four things: “The president squeezing the [North] Koreans, the economic sanctions, the diplomatic isolation, the military demonstrations.” He added, though, that Trump’s earlier tweets about Kim, in which he famously called him “Rocket Man,” were not helpful. Trump plans to meet with the North Korean leader in the next month or so. If the meeting takes place, it would be the first time a sitting US president has met with a North Korean leader.

Obama got the prize for nothing and Trump has been nominated for nothing…..now if he, Trump, does broker an agreement then I say he gets the prize….but right now NO he deserves none.

He was a bully and then turned into a warm and fuzzy participant……so far right now it is a bit absurd…..

The nomination for the 2019 prize came in a letter from 18 of Trump’s Republican supporters in the House of Representatives to the Nobel Committee chair Berit Reiss-Andersen, which starkly resembled the narrative of fakery the President delights in. Trump, went the signers, should receive the prize “in recognition of his work to end the Korean War, denuclearize the Korean peninsula, and bring peace to the region.”

The Republicans seem to have things the wrong way around.  Rather than incite instability, Trump supposedly calmed the waters.  Rather than creating teeth-chattering fear amongst allies, he brought accord where there was disagreement.  “Since taking office, President Trump has worked tirelessly to apply maximum pressure on North Korea to end its illicit weapons programs and bring peace to the region.” He was the great unifier, bringing on powers such as China “to impose one of the most successful international sanctions regimes in history.” (Never let history get in the way of a good tale.)

Stay Tuned…….

Hands Across The DMZ

We have the possibility for a Nobel Prize in the making here….North and South Korea met at the DMZ and history was made……

With a single step over a weathered, cracked slab of concrete, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un made history Friday by crossing over the world’s most heavily armed border to greet his rival, South Korean President Moon Jae-in, for talks on North Korea’s nuclear weapons. Kim then invited Moon to cross briefly north with him before they returned to the southern side. Moon grasped Kim’s hand and led him along a blindingly red carpet into South Korean territory, where school children placed flowers around their necks and an honor guard stood at attention for inspection, per the AP. Beyond the surface, however, it’s still not clear whether the leaders can make any progress in closed-door talks on the nuclear issue, which has bedeviled US and South Korean officials for decades.

Kim’s news agency said that the leader would “open-heartedly” discuss with Moon “all the issues arising in improving inter-Korean relations and achieving peace, prosperity, and reunification of the Korean peninsula” in a “historic” summit. It’s the first time one of the ruling Kim leaders has crossed over to the southern side of the Demilitarized Zone since the Korean War ended (though not officially) in 1953. Nuclear weapons will top the agenda, and Friday’s summit will be the clearest sign yet of whether it’s possible to peacefully negotiate those weapons away from a country that has spent decades doggedly building its bombs despite crippling sanctions and near-constant international opprobrium.

After all the tough talk about nukes a proposal has bee-n made about those nukes…..

The leaders also pledged to work for “complete denuclearization” of the Korean Peninsula and to reunify families divided by the war. “I hope this will be an opportunity for the two Korean peoples to move freely from North to South,” Kim said. “We need to take responsibility for our own history.”

The leaders pledged to make the DMZ a “peace zone” and to cease the broadcasting of propaganda across the zone by May 1. Military talks will be held next month to discuss reducing tensions, reports the AP, which notes that the declaration did not outline any concrete steps toward denuclearization. A South Korean official tells Reuters that Kim jokingly apologized to Moon for waking him up with missile tests and issued an invitation to visit Pyongyang later this year, which the South Korean leader accepted. In a tweet early Friday, President Trump, who is expected to meet Kim by early June, praised the “historic meeting,” adding: “Good things are happening, but only time will tell!”

Amazing turn of events and I am waiting for the Trump mind to start taking credit for all this….so far the Twitter thumbs have not been active on this event….but it is early….if anyone could piss up this it would be Trump.

A Nobel For The Right Reason

Can any of you recall when in 2009 when Obama was given the Nobel Peace Prize?  Sure you do…..the net went batcrap crazy because he got it for nothing or so some claimed……

I agree that his prize was a bit premature and that Obama had not proven that he deserved the prize……and in my opinion he still has not shown that he deserved the prize…..

This prize is given to those individuals that have …..okay but what are the requirements to qualify for the peace prize?

There is no particular requirement for winning the Nobel Peace Prize because each and every one of us is qualified. The only difference why only a few won this award is because those people risked their lives just to wake the nation’s nationalism. Those people also left their family for the country and they make a non-violence way to get the things his/ her country wants to have.

If you will recall last year’s winner of the Nobel Peae Prize was the Pakistani young woman that was shot in the face because she wanted an education…..and has worked tirelessly to promote the issue worldwide……Malala Yousafzai became the youngest-ever winner, when she shared the prize with a children’s rights activist from India.

This brings me to the person/s that won the prize this session…….

Pope Francis and Angela Merkel were among the early favorites, but this year’s Nobel Peace Prize has gone to a group that hasn’t been in the headlines as much: the Tunisian National Dialogue Quartet. “After the Arab Spring in Tunisia in 2010-2011, the Quartet paved the way for a peaceful dialogue between the citizens,” tweeted the Nobel organization. Before the announcement in Oslo, the five-member committee hadn’t given any hints as to which of the 273 nominees, which included 205 people and 68 organizations, would be this year’s winner, the Guardian reports.

The quartet is a coalition of four groups: the Tunisian General Labor Union; the Tunisian Confederation of Industry, Trade, and Handicrafts; the Tunisian Human Rights League; and the Tunisian Order of Lawyers, the AP reports, noting that the prize will be seen as an enormous victory for Tunisia, which has been shaken by two major terrorist attacks this year. In its citation, the Nobel committee praised the group for its contribution to “the building of a pluralistic democracy” in Tunisia. The committee’s chairman says the group helped Tunisia pull back from the brink of civil war in 2013, the Guardian reports.

The Arab Spring began in Tunisia  when

The series of protests and demonstrations across the Middle East and North Africa that commenced in 2010 became known as the “Arab Spring”,  and sometimes as the “Arab Spring and Winter” “Arab Awakening”  or “Arab Uprisings”  even though not all the participants in the protests were Arab. It was sparked by the first protests that occurred in Tunisia on 18 December 2010 in Sidi Bouzid, following Mohamed Bouazizi‘s self-immolation in protest of police corruption and ill treatment With the success of the protests in Tunisia, a wave of unrest sparked by the Tunisian “Burning Man” struck Algeria, Jordan, Egypt, and Yemen, then spread to other countries. The largest, most organised demonstrations often occurred on a “day of rage”, usually Friday afternoon prayers.   The protests also triggered similar unrest outside the region.

The action in Tunisia and now the Peace Prize could have wide ranging results…..the world would be a better place if their example was followed….let it be a blueprint to the future.

Source: Tunisia Nobel Peace Prize resonates across Middle East – Al-Monitor: the Pulse of the Middle East

Just like Malala,  the Tunisians deserved the recognition and the respect that comes with the prize……

Congrats to the Tunisian National Dialog Quartet!

And The Winner IS!

Finally, the Nobel dudes have come to their senses……….From the AP……

OSLO, Norway (AP) — Children’s rights activists Malala Yousafzai of Pakistan and Kailash Satyarthi of India were awarded the Nobel Peace Prize Friday.

The Norwegian Nobel Committee cited the two “for their struggle against the suppression of children and young people and for the right of all children to education.”

Yousafzai, now 17, is a schoolgirl and education campaigner in Pakistan who was shot in the head by a Taliban gunman two years ago.

Satyarthi, 60, has maintained the tradition of Mahatma Gandhi and headed various forms of peaceful protests, “focusing on the grave exploitation of children for financial gain,” the Nobel committee said.

The Nobel Committee said it “regards it as an important point for a Hindu and a Muslim, an Indian and a Pakistani, to join in a common struggle for education and against extremism.”

Congrats!  Prize is well deserved!
