Redistribution?

OMG!  We have a new buzzword for the 2012 election!

Poor old Mitt has had a horrible couple of weeks since the GOP convention.  First he got overshadowed by Clint and his “easy chair” then he (Mitt) had to jump the gun on the deaths in Libya and then he made his unfortunate comment about us people who are in the 47%….those who try to exist below the poverty line………in an attempt to change the media’s conversation he made a speech using 100% so many times it became a drinking game….and now he is trying another tact by using the code word…..REDISTRIBUTION………..

But what does redistribution mean?

If you look up the word, redistribution, the definition will read “the act of redistributing”….then look up the word redistributing and you will get “redistribution”……does that clear it up for you?  Thought not!  We could use it to refer to some sort of socialism (which I believe was Mitt5’s intention)….then we would be speaking of reallocating the assets of government to help all society….in other words, redistributing wealth….this is what the code was intended by Mitt….and he uses it often in the last day or so…..and if he says it enough then maybe, just maybe, he can repair the damage of his statement about us low lifes that are moochers (sarcasm, in case you missed it)……..

But if we are honest we will realize that anytime government spends its revenue then it is a form of redistribution….but somehow I do not believe that Mitt intends it in that context.  But in Mitt’s thinking anyone that has to use public spending to keep from starvation is somehow a parasite on society……Mitt is trying hard to dispel that illusion, the statement that is more probably how he really thinks…that anyone who needs government help is lazy or a mooch or a parasite or……..on and on.

It is a bit humorous that all the benefits that the wealthy gets….all the help it gets from government some how is freedom and needed…you know like oil subsidies or bank bailouts or Olympic bailouts (something Mitt does not seem to want to mention) or…well a wealth of programs is also a redistribution….but I am sure that it will not be mentioned while bad mouthing “Those People”, a group that Mitt mentions often.

Side note:  Has anyone else noticed that Mitt, when waiting for applause to subside, gets a facial expression similar to the ones Mussolini use to get?  Just not as exaggerated as those of “Il Dulce”.  Check it out!

Can Mitt Survive?

By now Mitt’s inappropriate language in his video talking to wealthy donors has made the rounds……he seems to have one of these a month…or maybe I should one a week…..but can he do to survive these gaffs?

The Week is an excellent list for him to do…..

1. Get more specific about his plans
Team Romney in fact announced a campaign retooling of its own on Monday, promising a “pivot to specificity,” says John Dickerson at Slate. Romney’s policy vagueness has been a frequent bone of contention with “conservative wise men,” and if this isn’t just a rhetorical “sop to pundits” — if Romney is really going to start detailing his governing plans and how they affect voters — that could help him recover. Yes, “to win, Romney must give voters a reason to vote for him — not just a reason to oppose Obama,” says Matt Lewis at The Guardian. We need to see his larger vision, but his old “notion that he can skate by without providing details — that he can run out the clock and hope we don’t check his homework — won’t fly.”

2. Romney has to fire up his base
The polls show that, especially in major battleground states, “the portion of the electorate that is truly undecided in this race is tiny, and shrinking,” says McKay Coppins at BuzzFeed. So while keeping the same economy-focused message for national audiences, Romney and his advertising will aim to trash President Obama and give the conservative base a reason to turn out in November. Voters seem pretty turned off, so it really could “shape up as a relatively low-turnout election,” says Dan Riehl at Riehl World View. And with “both bases being less than fully engaged,” the candidate who “taps into his the deepest may well win the thing.”

3. Team Romney needs to be more nimble
Romney has already “earned the admiration of the base,” but he’s done a terrible job at controlling the news cycle, says Jennifer Rubin at The Washington Post. “When a big event occurs (e.g., a credit downgrade, more than 20 embassies under siege),” Team Romney puts out an email. “That is not the optimal way to run a presidential campaign in a 24/7 new media environment.” Seriously, “news cycles come and go without Romney managing to staple his agenda and ideas to the passing events,” says Jim Geraghty at The Guardian. Last week’s Muslim uprising would have been a great time for Romney to discuss what he “really thinks of the Arab Spring,” for example.

4. Romney needs to let down his hair a little
Forget white papers and big policy speeches: Plenty of Republicans think “personality, not policy, may hold the key to reassuring wary voters,” say The Associated Press‘ Charles Babington and Brian Bakst. Among those Republicans is Romney’s running mate, Rep. Paul Ryan (Wis.), who told a convention of “values voters” last week that he’s “not the only one who has told Mitt that maybe he needs to talk more about himself and his life.”

5. He should pull a Bush: Charm the political press
“The good news for Romney is that the press, contrary to Republican belief, has mostly fallen out of love with Obama,” says Alex Pareene at Salon. But they aren’t too enamored of Romney, either. There’s a simple solution for that: “Talk like Jon Huntsman.” The mainstream press loved the centrist-talking Huntsman, as it does every “Rare Moderate Republican,” even though Huntsman’s actual policies were identical to Romney’s. That means leave the attack-dog stuff to surrogates and super PACs and instead “Offer Straight Talk” and vague bipartisan ideas, and “say ‘civility’ a lot.” In fact, “we already have a model for how this could work”: The 2000 campaign. George W. Bush “charmed the hell out of the press and never talked like a crazy right-winger, even as he made sure to dog-whistle to the crazy right-wingers.” Notice how we didn’t get a President Gore.

Excellent advice for poor Mitt…..looks like he cannot survive unless he does some major adjustments to his campaign……the question is……will he heed all the advice from established conservs….most are telling him the same thing as the Week listed……

Mitt’s Specifics

I believe it was Sunday that the Romney campaign released word that Mitt would address his solutions for the economy and the country and that he would discuss specifics on how we as a country could do better with him as the president.

For months now I have been saying that Mitt was an empty suit and his only campaign specific was “Obama Sucks”……I decided to listen to his speech and his specifics for repairing the damage that the economic meltdown and the presidency of Obama has done to the country…..

The speech that I listen to was the one he gave in LA to a group of Hispanics…..

He stated that the key to our foreign policy was Iran and that they cannot be allowed to get the nuke……and he told the audience that the key to saving the economy and bringing jobs back was education…..then he stated that energy independence would return jobs here……next he went on about trade…new agreements and retaliation on China for their cheating…..he said he would permanently fix immigration, without saying how he would accomplish that feat……….and finally it was the federal deficit and the need to cut  it and bring it down…..

All great ideas….and now for the specifics…….NO need to read on….that was his specifics….as usual the Romney campaign promised to give the American voter answer and specifics….and once again they got NOTHING!  Just the same lame and vague ideas that he has had for over a year now……..oh yeah…he did have one more thing to say…Obama Sucks!

Sorry GOP….I really wanted to hear specifics so that I could say one way or the other on whether he had a chance……instead I got nothing!  His lack of specifics brings a couple of questions to mind…….is it possible that he actually has NO specifics?  Or could it be that he is too cowardly to put them out for the voter because they would not benefit the common man or as I call us….the mere mortals?

Why would any voter that cherishes their vote, vote for Mitt Romney?

Are You Better Off?

A good question!  Each one of the campaigns is trying to make the case either for or against the question.  No matter, it is a good question that deserves a good answer…..

This list is a good one….and it answers the question for the country……

Michael Snyder
The Economic Collapse

If we elect one guy over the other our economy might decline at a slightly different pace.

But in the end both political parties are taking us to the exact same place.

Down the toilet.

I wish that wasn’t true.

But we need to be honest with ourselves….

-Both parties fully support the Federal Reserve.

-Both parties supported the nomination of Ben Bernanke to a second term as the head of the Federal Reserve.

-Both parties endlessly push the job-killing “free trade” agenda of the global elite.

-Both parties see nothing wrong with running absolutely enormous trade deficits with the rest of the world.

-Both parties supported TARP.

-Both parties supported the “economic stimulus” packages.

-Both parties supported the auto industry bailouts.

-Both parties have run up massive amounts of federal debt when in power.

-Both parties have greatly expanded the size of the federal government when in power.

-Both parties are full of control freaks and both parties have added more layers of ridiculous regulations to our already overburdened society when in power.

-Neither party supports getting rid of the income tax or the IRS.

-Neither party has any intention of doing anything to prevent the coming derivatives crisis that could bring down the entire global financial system.

-Both parties are absolutely showered with cash from the big Wall Street banks.

-Both parties think that the TSA is doing a great job.

-Both parties supported the NDAA and the renewal of the Patriot Act.

-Both parties have greatly expanded the unconstitutional surveillance of American citizens by government agencies.

-Both parties are extremely soft on illegal immigration.

-Both parties have treated military veterans horribly.

-Both parties are absolutely packed with corrupt politicians that are living the high life at your expense.

-Neither party plans to balance the federal budget in 2013 if their candidate wins the election.

-Neither party has a plan that will fix our deeply broken health care system.

-Neither party has any plans to shut down the Federal Reserve.  In fact, both parties see absolutely nothing wrong with our current system.

Food for thought.  Please use your vote wisely and in an informed way….do not just vote for the D or the R, the black guy over the white guy, the rich guy……..do not boil the election down to pathetic personality contest…..the country needs informed voters not judges on American Idol!
