Donald Trump’s And Hillary Clinton’s Supporters

I am sooooooo Borrrrrrrred with the election process so I think I will go off track and ask some questions…..not that I would get any answers…..does anyone have a “real” reason for voting for their fave candidate?  Is anyone taking either of the two seriously?  Really?  Why?

I have for a long time now tried to figure out just what it is about the candidates that make the people like them over the other.

To me they are just babbling twats that are trying to lie their way into the presidency….

Like I say I cannot see what makes one favorable over the other…..that is until I read this article……and now it is perfectly clear…..(not really but it is a good start)…….

A new Pew Research Center study finds that a third of Clinton and Trump supporters are most strongly motivated by opposition to Trump and Clinton.

The biggest reason supporters of Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton support their candidate is because they’re not the other.

That’s the finding from a Pew Research Center study of a month’s worth of survey data. Pew found, from more than 4,000 interviews conducted online and by mail, that the “main reason” supporters of both candidates were voting for their candidate was because “he is not Clinton,” and “she is not Trump.” Almost one out of every three people said so.

It makes sense now!

It is a contest of personalities…..issue and solutions be damn!

And Americans wonder what has gone wrong with their “near perfect” system……(The obvious always alludes them)…..

All I can do is laugh at the ignorance (used that for stupidity has already been used)…..

A billion…that is billion with a “B” wasted on this Reality show featuring “Dumb and Dumber”…….and you think wasting money on hungry kids is worthless…..

Two Candidates, Zero Solutions

By ow the American voter has heard every lame ass reason for them to vote for dumb or dumber…..every applause line possible has been uttered and NOTHING of real substance has been heard.

We have comical solutions like a “Great Wall”…on “make the sand glow”…..or “we will defeat…..”none of it actually spells out how exactly any of these pipe dreams will work…..and their website are as worthless as used toilet paper…..but the major of Americans will vote for either “numb nuts” or “I want nuts”…..

Of course after the most recent bombing in NYC and Jersey the two candidates had to sprint to a microphone to offer their visions……

Facts are still coming out about the New York and New Jersey bombings. But from the information we do have, one thing is clear: the counterterror solutions promoted by Trump and Clinton would not have helped prevent it.

The next president will need to be a leader of exceptional quality….and neither of these two clowns have shown none of that quality……

Over the next four years, U.S. men and women will almost certainly be fighting and dying in combat operations abroad. Whoever becomes commander-in-chief in January 2017 will probably spend his or her term in office explaining to the American people, long tired of war, why still more sacrifice is necessary. On the economic front, a long-ignored fiscal crunch will have to be confronted. And if these two major challenges are not daunting enough, the next president is likely to face a country as polarized as it has been at any time in the last century. He or she will have to find a way to bridge the differences or be content representing barely half the population. That task may become even more difficult, given that the United States is becoming a nation of far more diverse ancestry, faith traditions, and complexion. The president who does not recognize and adapt to the new America could be seen as a player from yesteryear, or even an outlier in the unfolding national story. Presidential leadership is no simple matter.

We will be ass deep in international problems….NO matter which comic makes it to the White House.

It Takes A Village Idiot

I recall awhile back Mrs. Clinton used one of her many slogans during her primary campaigning….”It Takes A Village”……a cutesy little slogan that did what it was intended to do….generate applause….other than that there is NO rhyme or reason behind her utterances.

Trump is no better….he has more applause lines than a late night host……and he has gotten in a bit of trouble when he basically praised Russia’s Putin…..and the media went batcrap crazy……

Personally, I think anyone that votes for either of these two candidates is a “village idiot”…..

I read an article in the Unz Review….now it has a bit of a Libertarian lean to it but it still made some good points and observations….

If you strapped Bill Clinton to a polygraph (or some lie detector that can’t be fooled by the Clintons)—I suspect he, too, might confess to a preference for Vladimir Putin over Barack Obama.

Mr. Clinton had been appropriately scathing, in 2008, about Obama’s mythical status in the media. A “fairy tale,” he called the current president.

However, his wife and her supporters on The Hill and in media have ruled that any remotely realistic utterance about the Russian president—such as that he’s a strong leader who’s popular with his people and acts in their interests—puts you outside the camp of the saints.

Source: It Takes A Village Idiot To Vote For Hillary – The Unz Review

There is absolutely NOTHING appealing for me in the two parties….they both are worthless agents of status quo….no matter how much they diss it…they will change NOTHING!

Now on the humorous side of politics……

If Hillary Clinton were forced to leave the presidential race due to health reasons, Democrats would want Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) to replace her as the party’s nominee, a new Rasmussen poll finds.
Forty-eight percent of likely Democratic voters backed Sanders in that scenario, according to the poll released Friday.
Really?  Sorry Dems but you had your chance to do the right thing.
Plus Clinton will NOT drop out even if the DNC has to prop her embalmed body up on a podium…..
But really after Bernie coped out and supported Hillary and then said that anyone that voted for anyone else was basically electing Trump….a scenario that the DNC is repeating all over social media…..it worked in 2000 so why not try it again…..
Me? I will vote my principles and vote Green…but Hell you people do what you think is right….no matter wrong you are.

2016: Slip Sliding Away

In a little over 50 days we will have a new president and then the finger pointing will begin…..all searching for excuses for their candidates loss.

May I see a show of hands…..how many think that GW Bush won in 2000 because Nader sucked votes away from Gore?

If you voted yes then you have voted for the common excuse that the Dems use to explain the defeat of Gore.  The diatribe is that Nader sucked off votes from people that would have probably voted for Gore had he not been opposed by Nader……

I think that is a cowardly statement…..Gore lost because he was a horrible candidate that progressive Dems did not like and did not vote for him.  It is just that simple….a terrible candidate.

Fast forward to this year’s election…..Clinton began the Summer leading Trump by double digits in many regions and slowly but slowly that lead has eroded to the point that the election is close to a toss up….either Trump or Clinton could win.

Personally I think that the two major parties are presenting the worst candidates possible.  Only 2000 had candidates that were this suck ass.

Voters that actually think see the weakness of the candidates and have begun looking for an alternative (smells like 2000 all over again)……We have the candidate of the old angry white men and the candidate of the 1%….neither represent the bulk of the voting public.

The Repubs are setting up the scenario it they lose the election….it will be voter fraud…..and the Dems it will be the same as 2000 people wasted their vote on a third party candidate.

The wasted vote premise is a myth….

The biggest objection by allies to voting for a Third Party is the “wasted vote” argument — the idea that if you vote for someone who will not win, then the vote does not count.

Join any third party and merely suggest that another person consider voting for a third party candidate and you will hear, ad nauseum, “I don’t want to waste my vote.”

What is a Wasted Vote?

An unprincipled vote is the only wasted vote.

Voting for a third party, contrary to popular belief, is not a wasted vote.

What is voting? It’s a chance to tell the country — and perhaps even the world — what your vision of government and society really is.

I have already covered this in a previous post….(for your reading delight)…..

Source: Why Your Third-Party Vote Is Not Wasted – In Saner Thought

I refuse to fall the giant shell game the major parties play om the voters….for 100 years talk has been cheap and yet we keep settling for the same promises every election.

If you do not vote for principles then YOUR vote is the wasted vote….NOT MINE!

Is The Tide Going Out On Hillary?

A few months ago Hillary was the undisputed leader of the pack when it comes to this election…..slowly but slowly her lead has been sliding down the toilet….

I would have expected her to be the frontrunner again by a wide margin after the Forum on national security aired on NBC…..not happening.

In reading through the American Conservative I read an opinion piece by Pat Buchanan….not someone that I turn to for his cutting edge opinion pieces but in this case his was a good look at what is happening to Clinton at this late date in the election cycle…..

Were the election held today, Hillary Clinton would probably win a clear majority of the Electoral College.

Her problem: the election is two months off.

Sixty days out, one senses she has lost momentum—the “Big Mo” of which George H.W. Bush boasted following his Iowa triumph in 1980—and her campaign is in a rut, furiously spinning its wheels.

The commander in chief forum Wednesday night should have been a showcase for the ex-secretary of state’s superior knowledge and experience.

Instead, Clinton looked like a witness before a grand jury, forced to explain her past mistakes and mishandling of classified emails at State.

While I have NO love for the Clintons…..I have even less respect for the Trump group……this election has turned into a sloppy insult-fest….issues are NO longer important…..or needed.

This election is turning into an actual race to the finish…that is if you believe the polls….and polls are about as accurate as my predictions of food fads.

This has been fun

But now my day is done

I depart with sorrow

Only to return tomorrow

With the approach of the morning sun.

Well That Is Just Sick! (In Medical Terms)

Just when I thought that these last 60 days or so was going to be pretty mundane….and then…..BAM!

This election has something for everybody…that is almost everybody….if you are a voter that wants to hear about issues and solutions then this time around you are sorely disappointed.

That aside…..for about a month Mr. Trump and his minions have been passing the story that Clinton is seriously ill and because of that she is not capable of being the president.

It seems that a couple of days ago the lackeys prophecies have been strengthened……why is that?

Over last weekend Clinton had an episode……

Hillary Clinton abruptly left a 9/11 anniversary ceremony Sunday after feeling “overheated,” according to her campaign, and hours later her doctor disclosed that the Democratic presidential nominee had pneumonia, the AP reports. A video showed Clinton slumping and being held up by three people as she was helped into a van after the event, and her doctor said in a statement that Clinton had become overheated and dehydrated. “I have just examined her and she is now rehydrated and recovering nicely,” Dr. Lisa R. Bardack said in a statement. The physician said Clinton has had an allergy-related cough, and that during a follow-up examination Friday, the candidate was diagnosed with pneumonia, put on antibiotics, advised to rest and modify her schedule.

Less than two months from Election Day, it was an unwanted visual for Clinton as she tries to project the strength and vigor needed for one of the world’s most demanding jobs. Republican rival Donald Trump has spent months questioning Clinton’s health, saying she doesn’t have the stamina to be president. Trump, who attended the same event marking the 15th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, was noticeably restrained. Asked by a reporter about Clinton’s health incident, Trump said, “I don’t know anything.” After Clinton’s departure from the event, spokesman Nick Merrill said Clinton had gone to her daughter’s nearby apartment. Clinton exited the apartment on her own shortly before noon. She waved to reporters and said, “I’m feeling great. It’s a beautiful day in New York.”

Even though she sez she is “feeling great”…..the story is there and the questions remain…….especially from the toads lurking behind the coattails of Trump……

Concerns about Hillary Clinton’s health have gone from conspiracy theory to what analysts are calling a major campaign issue. After she abruptly left a 9/11 memorial event early Sunday, her doctor disclosed that she had been diagnosed with pneumonia on Friday and was advised to rest. The campaign now says that Clinton has canceled a Monday and Tuesday trip to California that would have involved several fundraising appearances as well as a major economic speech and an appearance on Ellen, the Washington Post reports. In other coverage:

  • Clinton’s physician, Dr. Lisa R. Bardack, said Clinton was “overheated and dehydrated” at the 9/11 event but is now “rehydrated and recovering nicely,” the New York Times reports. Bardack didn’t say what kind of pneumonia Clinton has or whether she had a fever Sunday.
  • Politico reports that political journalists strongly criticized the campaign’s handling of Clinton’s illness, while Clinton allies downplayed the issue—and even praised her stamina. “‘Powering through’ illness is what women do: Stoically, every. single. day,” tweeted former Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm.
  • CNN spoke to a doctor about Clinton’s stumble and the subsequent news of pneumonia. Ford Vox says neither is at all unusual in somebody Clinton’s age, though there’s certainly a chance of other underlying health issues.
  • The Los Angeles Times reports that the incident has renewed calls for the release of detailed health records from Clinton, who is 68, and her 70-year-old rival. “This is the kind of thing that voters have a right to understand before they cast a vote,” says GOP strategist Katie Packer, who doesn’t support either candidate. “Both Trump and Hillary are elderly. They are obligated to release full medical records and full tax returns to the American people. And the media, party leaders, and American people should settle for nothing less.”
  • The Washington Post looks at the “intense privacy” that has long surrounded Clinton’s health after incidents like a 1998 blood clot in her leg that she later described as her “scariest moment.”
  • The Telegraph looks at what might happen if health issues force Clinton to quit the race.
  • Politico reports that some Trump supporters gleefully celebrated her illness on social media, though Trump himself has declined to comment. A lobbyist who raises money for Trump says he hopes the candidate will be able to remain “very careful and sensitive, and not reinforce the worse things people think about him.”

It will be interesting to see how her support staff tries to spin this….because we know that Trump and the boyz will NOT let this go, right?

Clinton is the nominee for the Dems….but let’s say that something goes horribly wrong and Clinton must drop out of the election race…..what will happen then? (This is a hypothetical thing)……. Will Trump automatically win the election?  (You just know that the Trump people, not being the sharpest pencils in the box will claim the win)……but really what would happen?

First off, please, please, please let us make abundantly clear that this article is not an endorsement of any alt-right conspiracy theories about Hillary Clinton’s health, nor are we trying to implicitly state that Hillary Clinton’s recent coughing fit or her apparent stumble outside the 9/11 memorial service were anything more than what her campaign says they were—seasonal allergies and a previously diagnosed case of pneumonia aggravated by dehydration. Seriously, we’re not. We fully expect her health issues to be resolved within a week, at which point none of this will matter.

The Media Is Giving Hillary Clinton a Free Pass

Did you really think I was going to give Clinton a pass?

How many times have you heard the piss ants on the Trump bandwagon piss and moan about the treatment he gets from the MSM?  Well to be fair…I wrote a post saying that Mr. trump was getting a free ride from the MSM……guess what?  So is Hill baby!

It is no secret that I do not support her nor do I think very well of her…..but the accusations about her getting a free ride from the MSM may have some validity………………

Much of the media have internalized the fantasy that the Hillary Clinton campaign is treated tougher than the Donald Trump campaign.

David Harsanyi writes:

Presidential nominee Hillary Clinton was finally asked a tough question during NBC’s commander-in-chief forum, so naturally the establishment media immediately coagulated around the notion that NBC’s Matt Lauer was the worst moderator ever.

An Air Force and Navy veteran, who said he held “the top secret sensitive compartmentalized information clearance,” said to Clinton regarding her acts as secretary of state, “Had I communicated this information not following prescribed protocols, I would have been prosecuted and imprisoned.” He then asked, “Secretary Clinton, how can you expect those such as myself who were and are trusted with America’s most sensitive information to have any confidence in your leadership as president when you clearly corrupted our national security?”

Source: The Media Is Giving Hillary Clinton a Free Pass: New at Reason – Hit & Run : Reason.com

I hate that I would have to agree with the bobblehead crew of the Trump camp…..but he is not the only one that is targeted by the MSM…..Johnson and Stein get NO coverage no matter how much they try……that is unless they screw up then the MSM jumps at the situation to show that they are not ready for prime time politics.

So much for “fair and balanced”….but then when has the media ever been so inclined?

Libya: The Clinton Folly

Last week the candidates met for a forum for military and veterans to ask them national security questions…..the plan was that this would educate the voting public on the stands that our candidates hold.

First, the Forum while an excellent idea it was a dismal bust…the moderator was a bit timid in calling the candidates out when they gave some pretty BS answers.  I can understand why….the MSM is way to invested in corporate America to be a neutral arbiter…..

One of my favorite answers came from the Dems “golden child”…..Hillary Clinton….when she was asked about Libya…..

Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton defended the 2011 invasion of Libya on Wednesday night by arguing that if the United States hadn’t intervened, there would be a civil war in the country today.

There is a civil war in Libya today.

“With respect to Libya, again, there’s no difference between my opponent and myself,” Clinton told NBC News’ Matt Lauer at the Commander-in-Chief Forum. “He’s on record extensively supporting intervention in Libya, when Gadhafi was threatening to massacre his population. I put together a coalition that included NATO, included the Arab League, and we were able to save lives. We did not lose a single American in that action.”

I loved her answer….may I ask one now?

What in the Hell do you call what is happening in Libya today if not a civil war?

All this talk about Libya got me to thinking about a piece I read in The American Conservative……

The Libyan war was an important factor in the worsening of relations with Russia at the end of Obama’s first term. It was not lost on the Russians that they had acquiesced in a Western intervention that they believed was sold to them dishonestly. Russia and China could have vetoed UNSCR 1973 and deprived the U.S. and its allies of the U.N. authorization they desired, but instead they chose to abstain because of the improved relations between Washington and Moscow that had come into being over the previous year. If one wants to identify when when the mostly successful “reset” with Moscow collapsed, there is a good argument to be made that it happened in the spring and summer of 2011 with the U.S./NATO intervention in Libya.

Source: The Lingering Costs of Clinton’s Libyan War | The American Conservative

Regardless to how she tries to slice this manure sandwich she is at least partially to blame for the conditions in Libya today.

Something the voter should be aware of before that all important vote….don’t ya think?

2016: Who Should You Choose?

That my friends is the $64 question…..if you are a thinking person then the 2016 election is giving you headaches……

I think that the most important issue in this election is foreign policy…..and so far neither candidate has said anything that would fill me with confidence….

I read a piece about who we should choose this year but this one is from a geopolitical point of view…..a view we seldom get from our media these days….instead that keep harping on emails or health or trustworthiness……this is a perspective that we all should use to judge our preferred candidate…

How should a US citizen vote? Hillary Clinton, the architect of our current world chaos, or an unproven, ballistic Donald Trump?

It’s become trite palaver to bemoan the US presidential choices. Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump – it is what it is. Now isn’t the time to sit back, but instead take an active look at the severe state of the world. The deeper question to ask each candidate for the US presidency is – do you want to preserve American primacy or not; not exceptionalism, but primacy?

Here’s where we stand after almost eight years of President Obama’s foreign policy, executed by Hillary Clinton and John Kerry. The Republican Congress also takes as much blame as the Obama Administration for their handling of this election, foreign policy, and certainly the Iranian nuclear deal. They were just as complicit as President Obama and Secretary Kerry.

Source: US Presidential Race: Who Should You Choose? | Geopoliticalmonitor.com

If you have not been following world affairs and have not been reading IST then this piece is just a long winded waste of your time…..but if you think that we need to be better at foreign policy then this piece is your chance to step up and learn something.

My leanings are toward a third party….either Libertarian or the Green…..but recently the Libertarian candidate, Gary Johnson, proved his foreign policy ignorance……

Libertarian presidential candidate Gary Johnson drew a blank on Thursday when asked about the humanitarian crisis ravaging the Syrian city of Aleppo.

Asked about the city on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” Mr. Johnson was unfamiliar with the name.

“What is Aleppo?” Mr. Johnson asked.

Mike Barnicle, a panelist on the show, then asked if he was kidding.

“No,” replied Mr. Johnson, the former governor of New Mexico.

“Aleppo is in Syria,” Mr. Barnicle said. “It’s the epicenter of the refugee crisis.”

“Okay got it,” Mr. Johnson said before calling on the U.S. and Russia using their leverage to bring the warring parties to the negotiating table.

Throughout the five-year Syrian civil war Aleppo, the country’s largest city, has been devastated by air strikes and ground fighting among rebel factions and forces loyal to President Bashar al-Assad.

(Wall Street Journal)

So since I think the most important issue in this election is foreign policy…..the Libertarians are now ruled out for me……if he had NO idea where Aleppo is then he probably has no idea about anything else happening in the Middle East.

That leaves the Greens……I will vote for Dr. Jill Stein.

But with all that said….is the US voter really having a problem deciding where to place their vote?

In this election season of discontent, a lot of voters are having trouble committing. Around 1 in 5 voters nationwide report themselves as undecided or flirting with third-party candidates, with the exact share depending on the poll and how the question is asked.

At least know why you are voting for your candidate other than some silly ideological BS…..

2016: Commander-In-Chief Forum

I hoped that Americans would finally take vets issues seriously….but if the posts that I have written in the past and their responses (as anemic as they were) then their “patriotism” is nothing more than a convenient slogan that they trot out whenever needed.

This 2016 election has become the most exhaustive election I have ever been a part of in my (state secret) years.

The dialog between the candidates is about emails, health, Trump U, on and on…..lots of totally irrelevant subjects….neither talking issues and solutions….the closest we get is a pile of platitudes and applause lines……

I have been looking forward to this deal…..the candidates will answer (or what passes for answers) regarding national security and vets issues……….Maybe this will bring out some actual campaign issues…….or so I thought.  I was disappointed in the way that it was moderated….Lauer let too much bullshit slide…it was mostly talking points for the two candidates.

Last night the first ever Commander-in-chief forum was held…..it was sponsored by the Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans Association (IAVA)…..the candidates will have 30 minutes to answer questions about national security and veterans issues asked by vets and military people…..

How about a quick recap for those that abstained from watching……

In what many saw as a preview of the Sept. 26 debate, Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump set out very different positions on foreign policy in a national security forum Wednesday night. The “Commander-in-Chief” forum, hosted by NBC and the Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America at the Intrepid Sea, Air, and Space Museum in New York, was hosted by the Today Show‘s Matt Lauer. Clinton and Trump fielded questions and spoke back-to-back, with Clinton going first after winning a coin flip. A round-up of coverage:

  • According to NBC, the night will be remembered for Donald Trump offering more praise for Vladimir Putin than for America’s “embarrassing” military leadership. Putin has “been a leader, far more than our president has been a leader,” said Trump, who praised the Russian leader’s 82% approval rating. “We have a divided country.”
  • Clinton cast herself as a model of “absolute rock steadiness” in foreign policy compared to Trump, reports the Washington Post, which notes that she seemed “guarded, even stilted” when dealing with questions about her email server and her vote for the Iraq War.
  • Clinton said the Iraq vote and the email server were both mistakes, but insisted that she had never sent or received material with a classified header on her private server. “Classified material has a header which has ‘top secret,’ ‘secret,’ ‘confidential,'” she said, per Politico. “Nothing—and I will repeat this, and this is verified in the report by the Department of Justice, none of the emails sent or received by me had such a header,” she added.
  • Trump said that under Obama, the US has pursed “the dumbest foreign policy” he has ever seen, the Guardian reports. Asked about his claim that he knows more about ISIS than the generals, he said the generals “have been reduced to rubble” under Obama.
  • Trump claimed that he had always been against the 2003 invasion of Iraq, but repeated that he thought the US should have taken the country’s oil. Asked about his plan to defeat ISIS he said: “I have a substantial chance of winning—make America great again. If I win, I don’t want to broadcast to the enemy what my plan is.”
  • Clinton, asked about her foreign policy record, said she viewed the use of force as a last resort, CNN reports. “We are not putting ground troops into Iraq ever again and we are not putting ground troops into Syria,” she said, arguing that ISIS could be defeated with air power and regional alliances. She said that no matter what he says now, her and Trump had the same position on both the Iraq War and the Libyan intervention, NBC notes.
  • Clinton and Trump were both asked about veterans’ mental health issues, and both promised to do more to reduce suicides. “We’re going to speed up the process, we’re going to create a great mental health division,” Trump said. “They need help.”
  • Vox reports that Lauer is taking a lot of flak from both sides for his moderations, with critics accusing him of asking lightweight questions and failing to fact-check the candidates.
  • The Washington Post fact-checks the forum, and has plenty of Pinocchios to award to both Clinton and Trump.

Tim Mak at the Daily Beast gives terrible reviews to both the “defensive and lawyerly” Clinton and the “huckster” Trump. They were supposed to show how they were qualified to be commander-in-chief, but “both showed themselves to be both terribly flawed candidates,” he writes.

Personally, neither candidate won….but then I do not support either of them….to me their answers were canned responses….but here is a recap of the night for both candidates…..read then you decide who won this thing…..

Source: POLL: Who Won the Commander-In-Chief Forum? | Heavy.com

Then the next  question was….how honest were the candidates answers?

Source: Fact-checking the NBC ‘commander-in-chief’ forum | PolitiFact

I still have grave concerns on what these two see as the problems and the solutions….they were not asked the important questions…like why did you not serve?  Would you let your children serve?  What are the complexities of the Syria situation?  I have more…..but those would have been a question that would have forced an answer and not allowed the canned responses to continue.

Source: Rachel Maddow’s part of NBC forum had the questions veterans should have been able to ask

I feel this was a good thing and should be required with every election to come.  But it needs to be expanded in time and expanded to include alternative candidates….this would show that it is not a partisan thing…..it failed this time around.  But what did I expect from a forum put on by the MSM?

All in all….an good first attempt.  A little tweaking needs to be done before the next one.
