Iran Hostage Thing 40 Years On

The date came and went and NO one seem to care…..they were too busy buying bullshit by the gallon…..how sad.

First I need to apologize…..this draft was written and saved to be posted on the day it happened…..well I screwed up….and it is posted a day late….my bad.

Do you remember where you were on 04 November 1979?

I was getting ready for work and heard the first reports on the morning news…..

On November 4, 1979, a group calling itself the Students Following the Line of the Imam stormed the gates of the U.S. Embassy in Tehran, seized control of the compound, and took several dozen American diplomats, Marine guards, and others hostage. Thus began a 444-day ordeal that shocked the world, fundamentally altered the political scene in Iran, and cemented negative perceptions in the West of the country’s Islamic leadership.

Forty years later, the Iran hostage crisis is still critical to understanding the bitter nature of relations between Iran and the United States. It instantly formed a core part of the American narrative ab

out the Islamic Republic as a regime willing to flout international law and universal moral principles, a view that has colored much of U.S. policymaking ever since.

Today, the National Security Archive is posting a small sampling of declassified records that recall that pivotal episode. They include a memo from National Security Advisor Zbigniew Brzezinski to President Carter suggesting several hardline actions including replacing Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini as Iran’s leader and even overt intervention (see Document 07). Carter was not prepared to take up any of these options but they indicate the level of alarm created by events in Tehran.

This situation was the beginning of all the stuff that we read about Iran in the news…..the media needs the event and the Iranians to help the Pentagon feed a narrative…..a narrative that has allowed for a 40 year war of words……

Our other national humiliations, from the Alamo to Saigon, have faded from memory or been transformed into noble lost causes. Anger over the hostage crisis has not subsided. For four decades it has grotesquely distorted our approach to the Middle East. Although it ended peacefully with the release of American diplomats, it has had an effect on our national consciousness — and our foreign policy — comparable to the effect of the 9/11 attacks, in which nearly 3,000 people were killed.

The hostage crisis is a lamentable example of how ignorance leads nations to misunderstand each other. It led many Americans to believe that Iranians act out of pure nihilism, cheerfully violating every law of God and man without any reason other than a desire to show how much they hate us. Only years later did it become clear that the opposite was true. The hostage-takers acted to achieve a specific political goal — to stave off what they suspected was an imminent effort by the Americans to reinstall a despised Iranian leader. We might have recognized their motive if we knew our own history.

Our misunderstanding of the hostage crisis still poisons US-Iran relations

After the fall of the USSR we needed a foe to keep the dollars flowing into the Pentagon and Iran fits the bill very well….continue the anger and the money will flow.

Remember The Sh*tholes?

The big story of the week is the move of the American embassy in Israel…..it is a terrible decision this only placates Israel and Israel alone.

But that aside what other countries will follow the US lead?

Now remember a while back when Trump made his sh*thole comment about immigrants trying to come to the US?  Look at the list above and there are the countries Trump was talking about.

Sorry I find it amusing…..

Then we all have heard about the violence around the embassy move, right?

The Trump has made it clear who is to blame…..and it is not Israel…..

It’s seemingly a straightforward sequence of events – Israeli troops lined up along the Gaza border, firing machine guns into the strip at unarmed protesters, and scores of those protesters were killed, the US is desperate to portray it as a “propaganda” plot by Hamas.

The White House portrayed themselves as wholly comfortable with Israel’s actions, saying they totally absolve Israel of any responsibility for all of those people they killed. Spokesman Raj Shah insisted the protests were Hamas’ fault, and the deaths are, too.

Shah further rejected reporter suggestions that Israel should show any sort of restraint, saying Hamas is responsible for whatever happens. He said Israel has an absolute right to engage in “self defense” against the protesters.

Yep that 8 month baby killed by tear gas was a terrorist….or the man in a wheel chair killed by an Israeli sniper was the source of the attacks or the 16 year old girl shot in the stomach…..the list goes on….

We all knew that Israel would be blameless as it always is even as far back as the USS Liberty incident in 1968 which killed and maimed American sailors….it was not their fault that their jets and patrol boats fired on the American ship.

It is always Syria’s fault or Iran’s fault or Hamas or Hezbollah and whoever else Israel can blame.

They play the VICTIM card more than my ex-wife.  Israel plays the victim card masterfully….they are NO more a victim than I am a female gardener….

Time for Israel to be held to the same standards as the rest of the world and time for the US to stop allowing Israel to hide behind their skirts.

Only The Best!

I appears that the State Department has decided on the firm that will provide security to the Embassy in Russia……

The United States has awarded a contract to guard the U.S. embassy in Moscow to a company with KGB ties, The New York Times reports.

The State Department awarded the $2.8 million contract to Elite Security Holdings, a company co-founded by retired Russian general Viktor Budanov.

A State Department official told the Times that the company has been properly “vetted” and will only carry out security tasks previously handled by local guards hired by the embassy.

The firm will operate at the Moscow embassy, as well as U.S. consulates in three other Russian cities. U.S. Marines will still guard the grounds and high security locations of the outposts.

Think about that for a moment!

Now my question is….Is a firm with links to the KGB the best firm to provide security to our Embassy in Russia?  Why not provide them with the computer codes as well…..make the whole process easier for them?

With that bit of worthless info I am out for the day…..more stuff tomorrow….TTFN…….chuq

How Much Of A Scandal Was It?

A new year and old scandal will hit the airways….yet again……did you know that the Right will not let Banghazi go……I have written on this many times and explained what I thought was the problem….but you Righties….LET IT GO!  But they cannot!

Benghazi Conspiracy Theory Gets Even More Desperate

As their conspiracy theory surrounding the 2012 Benghazi attack continues to unravel, now right-wing activists and Republicans claim the New York Times is part of a cover-up…of something.

After a Times investigation into the incident debunked the GOP’s messaging about the attack and the administration’s response, Republican congressmen including Mike Rogers, Trey Gowdy and Lynn Westmoreland are now saying that the Times editorial board must have concocted the report in order to help Hillary Clinton’s potential presidential campaign.

Of course, the congressmen have absolutely no evidence to back up any of their allegations, but it’s not like a lack of evidence got in the way of their increasingly desperate and partisan Benghazi witch hunt.

But let me ask one simple question….if Beghanzi is such a scandal why were the attacks under the Bush admin not?  But which ones would you be speaking about, professor?

Does that answer your pathetic question?  How about you twats shut up and move on to real problems and find real solutions.  But I think that is beyond your limited mental capabilities….”Stupid Is As Stupid Does!”

Peace…Out!
